Family / Re: My Mother Wants Me To Rent My Own House by ojodombe(m): 4:42pm On Nov 18, 2022
Greattestman:
This issue has been eating me up for so long and i don't know what to do. My mother began pressurizing me to rent my own house and leave her alone.

It was unprecedented and i don't expect that from her. I'm barely 20 and I teach in a private school. I also do home lessons so my monthly income ranges from 25k to 30k or thereabout.

This money will not be enough for me to rent a house, buy my food and take care of myself. I have tried to explain but she refused to understand with me. She told her friends to advice me to leave; that I'm matured enough to live alone.

I'm pressed and I need your advice.

Bro, most times men need to be pushed before they can move.
Why not try living alone and see how it goes. Live within your reach. You must not rent flat nor self-con.
A room apartment is a good start. With that you will see motivation to move on.

The Lord is your strength.

Everything is all about passion. If you have passion for carrying waste, do it wholeheartedly and see yourself move forward.

Meanwhile if you have passion for programming, go for it and see yourself Excel despite the odds and challenges.

Career / Re: Should I Take This Deal...? I Need Advice Please by ojodombe(m): 9:49am On Sep 12, 2021
Softboy001:
....life has been difficult to say the least, ever since I moved to lagos after finishing my nysc in March, I thought hoped things will be better but it only became...
Well let's leave that. I just want advice, that's why I am here.am currently squatting with my elder brother and his fiance in a room and palor self con. They are getting married by December. I have alot of burden to them, they don't need to tell me I know. But what will a man do. I forgot to add am 27 years old. I studied mechanical engineering (HND). My hands are really tied right now. I left a crazy job(30k/months) that I was using to sustain my self. Don't judge me, am not lazy. I left because of security reasons. Plus It was a slave kind of work. Presently am hooked. I don't know where and what to do. I currently don't have up to 5k in my account self. As I no gree do yahoo aka jazz. Na wetin my eyes dey see be this.

...any way my gist is getting to long. There is an man that has always been a father to me. He helped me through school. I really thank him. As in he has done alot. The man just like me for no reason.and has been helping me since I was young. Anyway he called me and then after explaining to him how things has been for him.

He called again after a month. He said he has a deal for me.

The deal is that, he wants to sponsor me to go to canada. I forgot to add, he stays in Austria. Him and his family. So the deal is about 2.5 million naira, so he said he going to work everything for me that includes international passport, visa, airplane ticket, accommodation and also the package includes work also. but the deal is that. He will pay about. 850k. To get me there first. Then when am there and have started working I'll pay 1.8 million to the agency $4k.

So that's the deal. The 850k he is just using that to help me.actually he himself he paying 650k to the agency and giving me 200k as pocket money. Then when I get there I can work and give the agency the remaining 1.85 million.

So please guys, what to do you think. My fears is going to a country I don't know anyone at all, there is so much risk involved canada far o and will I be able to pay up the money. I don't want to owe gbese that I can't pay back.

What do you guys think?
Should I go ahead? Or remain in naija?

I have so much fears, that's why am scared of going, what if I go broke?

I have from now till Monday to decide, the processing is starting on Monday

If I heard well that work is inclusive, what are u waiting for.
Even in Nigeria you are taking risks.
So go and take the risk too.
Life itself is a risk

As for me, my family, relatives and friends, should PDP pick VP from south west. We shall give the remaining 4 years to Buhari. Reason being that we have had strong and serious support to PDP since inception. Why denying us this at this point?

Uncle please rephrase the caption. Your caption underates her and is annoying. I bet you that should lady in question see this, she will not take it light with you. She just finished secondary school and still have better future.
When will people bury ego and live life simple. 150k monthly salary is not enough to make u classify her as "low social class". If you think that you have arrived and is stable at that salary, then the girl in question should be the one saying this because you have poverty mentality and you family is nurturing it too.

Godwinfury:
First let me ask you a question, and I want sincere answers.
Question 1: Do you still "love" her, cos what I saw in your opening speech was a past tense.
Question 2: Are you willing to settle with her?
Question 3: what you currently feel for her, is it true love or sympathy?
Question 4: Are you willing to take the boy(her son) under your wings without feeling partial when it comes to a dealing between you kids and him?
Question 5: Are/Will your parents be in agreement with your decision to have a single mother (pardon that) as your wife?

1. Yes I still love her
2. Yes now and that is why I brought this issue here
3. True love not sympathy at all.
4. Sure
5. Can't speak for my parents because I want conclude some preliminaries before relating it with my parents. My mother loved her so much when we were "dating".

Romance / Should I Still Marry This My Ex? by ojodombe(m): 2:10pm On Feb 02, 2018
I had a friend who I loved so much. It was my sincere determination that I will marry her after graduation. Though I did not tell her openly that I wanted to marry her because I was afraid that should I tell her she might mismanage herself for the fact that she had been engaged. She knew quite well that I don't break/fail promises. She loved me so much then, but her change in character started when she got admission. I was in school then too about to graduate. One thing I know was that I tried my best showing her that I will marry her when things gets better through my body languages and indirect speech which I supposed she would have understood.

One faithful morning she called me telling me that somebody will be coming to her house and that she will be glad if I should come around to see the person. My spirits had never deceived me, I concluded that this girl was about getting married. Lo and behold that was it. Enveloped with guise pimple I didn't know how to tell her I will honour the invitation or object. But I concluded that I will not honour it though I didn't tell her. My absence pained her too because she called me weeks later, thanking me for not honouring her invitation. A sign that she was not happy.
To my greatest surprise I was planning on what next to do little did I know that she was pregnant already for the said guy. Few months later she called me telling me that her husband had an accident and died. I consoled her to the best of my ability. She delivered a baby boy two months after the husband's death.

Now, the boy is living with her parents grown and has started bursary schoool and she is not married again I guess. And she is ready to remarry in my own assessment because she has started showing me her brake light again knowing full well that I want to marry. I loved this girl but I don't know whether to propose to her as I now want to marry. My confusion is something like after math, whether this girl will still have feeling to her dead husband which may bring jeopardy to our family.

Nairalanders, please help a fellow who is confused.
Admin can u help me move this to front page for suggestions on what I should do?

Nairaland / General / Re: Poverty Mentality Of Nigerians And The Ripple Effect by ojodombe(m): 8:24pm On Aug 10, 2015
When you gain admission into any school you are expected to pass all exams in order to graduate. Any Nigerian who works against/sells his conscience is a failure and must re-write all the exams which are: either he wallow in poverty until he clears his conscience right or he continues to serve people till thy kingdom come. The wise will never carry placards for the politicians who never know nor ask for their whereabout after wining elections until when they want to recontest. Thank God we have a hope of change. I am seeing a Nigeria when the masses will go to court to protest a rigged election instead of the contestant. May God help Nigeria.

Quote me many B Sc. holders CANNOT make a simple sentence so also many HND holders. Education is rotten in country. Believe in your talent and ability and you must surely reach the climax. I can never be intimidated or discouraged because of HND/B Sc discrimination.

The dude in question should simply tell the guy what is in her mind not to use academic Qualification as an excuse. Can she tell me that should Bill Gate come her way she will not forget her parents. Maybe the guy is not rolling in money as she expect. Women are caught with money the same way lizards are caught with ant. But if I may say, the guy is lucky because it would have been hell fire to call such a thing wife. I doubt she went to school at all. If she is a university graduate I can borrow the law of hasty generalization and say that University graduates are impostors.

Rain on me whatever u like but I assure you it will not work for you.

Just bared my mind.
