Education / Re: Some Shameful Romantic Moves We Made In Nigerian Mixed Secondary Schools!!! by ojosegun2011(m): 12:20am On Oct 25, 2015
My own experience was a more interesting one. I attended a Modern School after primary which is equivalent of present-day Middle School or JSS3. There was this young girl from a secondary school not far from my school. She was so young that you can hardly distinguish between her and the students if not for the uniform, some students were even older than her. She was an Auxiliary Teacher (teachers who didn't go to Teachers Training College or college of education or university are known by that name). Most guys were rude to her but I had special respect for her because what baffled me was her age and the educational qualification - WASC? Somehow, we got attracted to each other and after the school hours we were like husband and wife. We were just friends and not more than that. One of our teachers who had his eyes on her got to know how close we were and I was persecuted for being his "rival." My gain, later, was the lessons she assisted me with and it helped me to skip going to spend another four years in the secondary school. Two years of rigorous coaching while working with her help catapulted me into the University two years after leaving the Modern School. We met later as students at the great University of Ife. (she was a year ahead of me) and our love life blossomed to a full relationship which would have ended in marriage if not because of our religious differences that didn't go down with her parents. That was my only remarkable school romance experience.

Each time I read some comments on Nairaland I feel sad reading negative comments perpetually by some commentators from a particular section of the country (I won't mention them because you also know them). They've never and will never be possitive or appreciative of anything good in their life. I never expected any sane person to criticize the genuity of this brilliant undergraduates who developed what they learnt in the classroom to practical aspect of their education. The Japanese, Chinese, British, Americans, Germans, Russians and other technologically advanced countries of the world didn't start better than these guys. God will help them to make a headway for our country.

Lastpage, thanks for your observation. I'm not a bad user of English language both in writing and oral, it is just that when one is on social media, a lot of serious grammatical and lexical errors are committed with careless abandone. All the same, I will be more careful in future. I truly appreciate your style and maturity in putting me aright. More of such will be appreciated. Thanks.

Judgement will start from the house of God. Let no one suffer as a law breaker. Don't drag yourselves before unbelievers (conventional courts for prosecution). When greed enters a society, it falls into pieces. Is there any notable difference between believers and unbelievers in the present day faith? Let your life be a model for unbelievers.

Hunmmmm, People of the East and certificate manipulation shouldn't be news any longer. Go to the Universities, the same certificate is being recycled with different additional names on it being presented by siblings and in their final years they are in court for change of name. It is then you will see Udom Edet Udom, Ekong Udu Ekong, Efiom Ekpeyong Efiom, Uchen Bassey Uchen, Adaora Uche Okoli Okoli and many more. We have them as friends, we know them as colleagues, the former VC and the new one protecting that woman may have similar situation at hand. So, it is a common sight down there.
Family / Re: Her Husband No Longer Makes Love To Her Because... by ojosegun2011(m): 1:43pm On Oct 13, 2015
The husband is an ingrate who doesn't know how to appreciate God's mercy and grace. Those robbers may have resulted into killing him or the entire family if they didn't satisfy themselves sexually. Tell your sister to keep praying to God for his grace. Because once God smiles on her the husband would come back to beg. Who knows, the man may have been tired of the marriage already, he might have set his wife up just to discard her like a pack of cards. Some men can't be trusted with their evil machinations and manipulative tendencies nowadays.

I will like to agree with Femi's position on the age discuss as I am sure he may be drawing his reference from the age of our Head of Department in the 80s at English department, University of Ife named Prof. Bisi Afolayan who was older than the VC then but was one of the best English teachers ever existed in Nigerian universities if not in the entire Africa. Prof Afolayan didn't allow the young lecturers who were his Post Graduate students to handle the core subject of the department alone without being properly monitored. For instance, EGL 101, 102, 201 202, 301, 302, 401 and 402 titled Structures of Modern English. the above named courses are the foundation of English studies, even as Dean of the Faculty, Prof didn't allow just anybody to handle those courses in those days except his post graguate students who were undergoing academic training in those courses at the masters and doctorate levels and he was always in the class with them to be sure they were feeding us with the right message. Age doesn't really matter in what a man can do if he is mentally alert but what Nigerians are really quarreling with Mr. President about his nominees is the time he has wasted only to have ended up bringing the crop of recycled politicians and no new breed as he promised on the CHANGE mantra. But still one won't be surprised if those old politicians don't have grown up children who are qualified to be Ministers. Why must it be them and not their children or political followers as Nigerians would have expected.

I hope you are married, if not tell him the expenses that goes with marriage. Care and education of children and the need to stabilize himself first before thinking of loafing around with unemployed girls like himself. More than the enjoyment is the soaring cost of everything. The only thing we don't pay for in this austere period is the air we breath in. You didn't tell us his age but a growing teenager must react to the opposite sex by nature from age 14 to 21 verociously and this is the time they need to be guided and guarded. Friends and peer group will naturally lure you into acts of maturing person. We all passed through it and what he did is not out of place but you have a lot to do to convince him to be focused for now. Telling your parents may worsen the situation. As their approach may aggravate the urge in him as in every maturing child counsel him and don't bully him. Children listen more to respective counsel than the bullying one. Iron hands hardened them and becomes more counter productive. He is growing and must naturally be curious about life and he needs good guidance from people older than him.

Teenage marriage. What a sham? Is there anything like teenage marriage as they want us to believe? I think we should discard such notion. In Ibadan, a popular city in Yorubaland, there are many young girls of 12 to 16 years unmarried who have given birth to children without fathers. In a situation that in the Northern part of Nigeria, the same girls who fall within the age group of the Ibadan single kid-mothers were officially married by willing suitors. My opinion about this issue therefore, is that those kid-brides should be given the freedom of agreeing with such marriage arrangement and that it should not be by force. I will therefore disagree with those who view teenage marriage as religious or tribal issue since we have evidences that in Yoruba and Igbo regional areas of Nigeria, there are unmarried kid mothers whereas in the Northern regions there are officially married kid mothers. I want to ask a question, which is better, the married or unmarried kid-mothers?

Write like this:

Dear Sir,

LETTER OF RESIGNATION:

I wish to inform you of my desire to resign my appointment as an employee in your establishment due to family pressure to assume the position of the Managing Director of my father's business dynasty which specializes in your type of business with Headquarters in Abuja and branches in 24 states of Nigeria.

At the on-set my father had insisted that I should go and work in your establshment to gain experience of how not to appreciate commitment and loyalty to work which my father knows was your style.

However, he insisted I needed your mode of operation not because he expects me to adopt your hostility and insatiable nature to my employees when I eventually become the MD of his organisation but to use it to ensure probity and accountability and to use it to ensure all employees under me put in their best and to compensate them adequately.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to learn on the job.

Yours faithfully.

(Signed)

By the time he reads your letter you would have shown him his own picture and you might have sent a life changing message to him that may force him to treat others like human beings.

Abubakar Bokola Saraki is on trial for false asset declaration at the Code of Conduct Tribunal and many supported him while others are against him. There is divergent opinions but the big question is "Why can't we all be unanimous in our decisions on corrupt people? We all hate corruption by words of mouth but we don't want our "corrupt loved ones" to be dealt with according to the laws we all made against corruption, instead, we prefer only our enemies or political opponents to face the law. Unfortunately, our "corrupt loved ones are the real enemies and we don't want them prosecuted. When will Nigeria truly be corruption-free?

Religion / Re: It Is A Sin For Ladies To Put On Trousers To Church Because Bible Condemns It by ojosegun2011(m): 8:05pm On Sep 13, 2015
Each time this question of a man's cloth and a woman's cloth comes up I always wonder what people say about trousers being tagged as man's cloth. In Deuteronomy 22 verse 5 that people always refer to there is no mention of a particular cloth as a man's cloth. Not even the trousers. The funny aspect is that in some cultures Trousers are worn by women like in Delta, Edu, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers, virtually all the Muslim North and many other srares in Nigeria. In these culturally diverse backgrounds will a woman be guilty of wearing trousers to church since in other tribes a man is believed to be associated with trouser while wrappers that is associated with women in Yoruba land is mainly associated with both men and women in many states especially in the South South and South East areas of Nigeria as a matter of culture? My confusion in this regard is "what type of cloth actually belongs to a man and which is that of a woman that the bible is talking about? We need the biblical interpretation of the word "MAN'S CLOTH" before we can place judgement on churches that permits their female members to use trousers or not. With the worlds cultural diversity on mode of dressing, WHO OWNS the trousers as a cloth? MAN or WOMAN?

Truefact or what do you call yourself? Why is it difficult for you to. Contribute to discussions on virtually all issues? Has any Yoruba man offended you before? You are insulting Avery powerful race and the best custodian of African Heritage for no just cause. Why? If you so hate the Yorubas why don't keep shut and stop exposing your unbridled tongue. I will not be draagged into war of words on this platform because it is obvious you lack home training and have lost contct with your cultural lineage. I know you must be from the South Eastern Nigeria but your rudeness doesn't reflect the culturl awareness of the good people of Igbo decent who are well cultured in all they do. I have concluded that you are a bastard born into a decent igbo family.

Has nothing to with God or any supernatural being anywhere, it was a near- miss incident and the dude was just plain lucky. We should be more concerned about what stringent safety measures that should be put in place and enforced to curtail similar occurrence from happening ar at least reduce it to the greatest minimum rather than focusing on how some supernatural being helped the dude in becoming to escape unscathed in the accident. At least that is how it is done in saner climes.

FriedPlantain, I'm surprised that you don't recognize God in that terrible accident while the survivor himself acknowledge God as his saviour. God is so merciful and that's why he just allows your type to keep existing. It will be to your own advantge to apologize on this page for your blasphemy before he strikes you dead.
