Christianity EtcFather Mbaka Moved To A New Parish As Assistant Parish Priest by ojsmscom(op): 8:14am On Jan 31, 2016
■ Fiery priest moves from duplex to one room apartment
■ Parishioners weep

From Petrus Obi, Enugu

TEARS flowed uncontrollably from parishioners and members of the Adoration Ministry as fiery Enugu Catholic priest and director of the ministry, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, yesterday bowed out of Christ the King Parish, GRA, Enugu, which he presided over as parish priest for 20 years.

The entire Enugu capital city also stood still as over 30 lorries accompanied by thousands of his adoration faithful escorted him in a motorcade to his new parish, Our Lady Parish, Emene, a suburb of the capital city.

Mbaka’s transfer became a topical issue as a section of the society saw it as a punitive measure for his recent prophecies especially that of December 31st 2014, when he predicted that former President Goodluck Jonathan would be defeated in the 2015 elections. This has however been dismissed by the church who explained that the transfer is a routine exercise done every six years by the bishop.

But Mbaka’s transfer as a parish priest to a resident priest, where he will serve under another priest, has raised eyebrows eliciting further comments from close observers.

Mbaka himself while handing over formally to his successor yesterday told those around that he was going to suffer, moving from a duplex to a room in his new parish but asked them not to worry that God has bigger plans for him.

Hear him: “I know we are going to suffer; between now and few months to come, I am going to suffer; I am going to suffer because I have no place to lay my head; I am going to suffer because I have no place to keep the Ministry’s assets; I know I am going to suffer; fortunategoing to suffer because I have no ly it’s going to happen in the month of Lent; so I am going to use my exit here to observe the Lent. But Jesus said it to His apostles in John 16:20, ‘You will be sorrowful and the world will be rejoicing but very soon I will turn your sorrows to joy.’ So I am waiting for that moment because for now I know we are going to suffer. The Adoration Ministry is passing through suffering right now; even though I have accepted it as the will of God; it is the will of God through suffering; it is a mega suffering. But however, the grace of God will carry us all; even though some of you may pray that God should remove this thorn from us, the scripture says ‘His grace is sufficient for us; for its even in your weakness that the power of God is demonstrated. So we are moving but don’t forget the scriptures, ‘my brothers they make me keeper of vineyards, my own vineyard I keepeth not. All these while we have been keeping vineyards, building for Christ The King Parish…Bishop Gbuji asked them, how much …but because I don’t want to disclose my charity, they can’t keep that account. How many trailer loads of cement came here? All the monies I made from my cassette and other private crusades all of them were used to build this church. We cannot quantify it but let God be glorified.”

“It is the will of God; and when the will of God either permissive or however, happens, nobody should question it. All you have today is Amen; so to the will of God Fr. Mbaka has said Amen.”

Mbaka said he welcomed the decision of the church leadership with absolute acceptance and obedience, stating that nobody should see him as a recalcitrant priest. He assured that the parish would not collapse due to his exit, and urged the members to treat his successor, Rev. Fr. Theodore Ozoamalu, well, and to assist him in any way he needs help and not allow him to cry.

His words: “Don’t starve him; don’t allow him to suffer; in my own time I didn’t need your help because God blessed me in my own unique way and I am happy. God will keep the parish because we have fought the good fight; I am not regretting anything and the highest gift God has given here is his Holy Spirit who assisted me up till now.”

PoliticsTompolo Reacts To Efcc Invitation by ojsmscom(op): 5:57am On Dec 21, 2015
Twelve Niger Delta militants known as ex agitators met on Thursday concerning the invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to one of their leaders Government Tompolo.
In a press statement which was signed by a foremost militant Mr. Egbesu Mightier Fraternity, the group warned the Federal Government will ‘get what they want’ should they continue to toe the path of harassing their leaders.
They issued a cease and desist order threatening Nigeria’s strategic oil interests and hinting that any attacks on Oil facilities will make things worse for Nigeria in the light of the recent decline in oil prices.
“With oil prices slipping below 40 dollars a barrel, if the government of President Buhari is willing, we will help to reduce its price of barrel to 15 dollars.
Nigeria will collapse under the watch of All Progressive Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari as we will do everything necessary to actualize the American prediction“.
“The silence in the region is a legacy of former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua should not be thrown away on the altar of vindictiveness. The government should thread with caution and wisdom by ensuring that anything capable of provoking anger in the region is avoided or else every region shall maintain their respective resources because the money belongs to the people of the region and not APC and Buhari government“.

PoliticsThe Nigeria Judiciary Cried Out Loud by ojsmscom(op): 3:37pm On Dec 03, 2015
Information available to 247ureports.com indicates that all is not well with the Presidency and the Justices of the federal courts. This is as available information reveals that the presidency, working in tandem with the State Security Services [SSS/DSS] have initiated a campaign against federal Judges through the manipulation of the salaries and covert harassment through bugging of the telephone lines. For this reason, the presidency has refused to release monies to the judiciary to pay October and November 2015 salaries.
A competent source knowledgeable of the ongoings within the presidency revealed that the Presidency through the instruction of the President had adopted a new approach towards the federal court Judges – in an attempt to coarse them into ‘dancing’ to a particular tune that would enable the various anti-corruption agencies to arrest aides to the former administration and then arraign in court – without the Judge allowing for bail conditions to be given. The presidency wants Judges to not give bail to virtually all politically based arrests made by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] and other-like organizations included the DSS. The concept is to give the Executive arm of the government a totalitarian grasp over the nation – to have the capability to arrest at their discretion and detain at their discretion – without interference from the Judiciary.
Our source notes that the Federal Judges were not immediately willing to entertain the concept envisaged by the presidency for the new role to be played by the Judiciary. Silently, some of the Judge expressed concerns to the Presidency indicating it would translate to clear adulteration of the Judiciary and the tenets of democracy should the Judiciary allow the Execute arm of the government operate as in period of military dictatorship. The presidency was quick to respond. They withheld the salaries and other associated monies to the judiciary in an effort to twist and/or manipulate the Judges into accepting the new role. The use of the Single Treasury Account [TSA] enabled the presidency act. All monies that would have gone directly to the Judiciary – now seats at the TSA depot. From the depot, the presidency has ultimate control – and has opted not to remit the said monies.
Adding gravitas to the already odorized situation is the use of DSS officers to harass and instill fear into each of the federal Judges. One of the affected Judges who related his ordeal to 247ureports.com indicated that the DSS officially contacted his office explaining that his home was due for a security upgrade – and that the DSS is to do the upgrade. However upon initiating the upgrade project, the DSS instead of upgrade the security systems of the house, they began going through the Judges mobile phones and personal laptops and Ipad and other communication devices – in search for archived information and communication history. Shortly after the search, the DSS men approached the Judge to inform him that they have evidence on him that shows he has had ‘unclean’ dealings with the opposition party – and that he can be brought down if he does not accept the new order. The Judge noted that he was not the only Judge that the security officers had paid a visit.
The manner of the truncated trial of the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and the ongoing travails of the former National Security Adviser [NSA], Sambo Dasuki stems out of the presidency’s insatiable appetite to instill a dictatorial administration – without interference from the courts.
“ They want to revert to the dark Abacha years when they can pick anyone and lockup at will for as long as they want without recourse to any law”, complained the Judge who went on to confirm that many of the Judges are frightened. “ They are petrified and unsure of who to talk to. The DSS are vicious now. They have bugged all our mobile phones and other communication gadgets. I have never seen them this way in my entire years of practice ”.
According to reliable information, the harassment has gone beyond mere Justices of the federal courts. The presidency, through the DSS, has honed its focus on the likely Justice of the Supreme Courts who will replace the current Chief Justice when he retires in November 2016. The present Chief Justice, Mahmud Mohammed hails from Jalingo in Taraba State – and the next Judge in line of seniority to take over after November 2016 is Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen who hails from Cross River State. Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen has been a Justice of the Supreme Court since 2005. But the Presidency, according information available to 247ureports.com has launched a comprehensive covert campaign against Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen for him to back away from ascending to the position. According to our source, the men of the DSS acting upon the instructions of the presidency, have ‘covertly’ invaded his home and have ransacked through all communication devices belonging to the Justice and his immediate family – in attempt to retrieve evidence that will bar him from becoming the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
The Presidency is reported to have sworn not to appoint Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen the next Chief Justice come 2016. It prefers instead to appoint a northern Muslim who is likely to accept the new role of the judiciary.

Lucky Igbinedion: Oshiomhole is the biggest thief, owns houses in UK, US, Dubai, South Africa – SPY NIGERIA
Former Governor of Edo State, Lucky Igbinedion, has asked the state Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, to explain to the people of Edo State how he allegedly squandered trillions of Federal Allocations and Internal Generated Revenue he collected in the last seven years.
The ex-governor dismissed a statement credited to Oshiomhole that it took seven years for him (the governor) to speak out on the purported illegalities perpetrated by him while in office.
In a statement he personally signed in Abuja on Saturday, Igbinedion promised to expose his successor at the appropriate time.
The Edo State Government had on Wednesday said it had begun moves to recover $31 million allegedly “fraudulently taken” from the government coffers, during Igbinedion’s administration.
Oshiomhole also vowed to publish records of fraud allegedly perpetrated by the ex-governor, adding that he would forward all the files containing the alleged fraud to Abuja this week for prosecution.
Oshiomhole had also accused the ex-governor and his father, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, of allegedly converting government properties and funds meant for the people of the state to private use.
The governor had said his feud with the Igbinedion family started when he revoked the over 200,000 hectares of government land, which the former governor allegedly gave to his father in Okada, as well as the termination of the Memorandum of Understanding the ex-governor allegedly signed with his father.
The MoU, Oshiomhole alleged, was to allow “the medical students in Igbinedion University to use our state-owned hospital at the expense of the Edo State Government while Chief Igbinedion collects N1 million from each medical student”.
Igbinedion, however, said records of activities during his tenure were open to the public.
He said: “I have made it very clear time without numbers that the files of my tenure are there for everybody who cares to ask to check. I do not intend to dignify Adams Oshiomhole any longer by joining issue with him.
“He should explain to the people of Edo State how he spent the federal allocations and internal generated revenues running into trillions naira in seven years.
“He should tell the people of Edo how much he is paying as land tax for his house in Iyamho worth over N10 billion and other properties he has acquired in the last seven years in Dubai, Cape Town in South Africa, in San Francisco, United States of America, a high rise apartment in Atlanta also in America and in London. He is calling everybody a thief but Oshiomhole is the biggest thief in Benin City today.”
The ex-governor added that because Oshiomhole had allegedly mismanaged the financial resources of the state, which were entrusted in his care in the last seven years, and currently receiving the hit from the people, the governor was looking for ways to divert people’s attention.
Igbinedion added: “Oshiomhole has failed; the people of Edo State now know him better. Oshiomhole is the least qualified person to talk about corruption in the country today because his actions and programmes in the last seven years in Edo State epitomise corruption.
“He has called everybody in Nigeria a thief; has called former President Olusegun Obasanjo a thief; called former President Goodluck Jonathan a thief, he called (ex-Minister of Finance, Ngozi) Okojo-Iweala a thief, and others. Yet, he cannot prove his cases. I don’t think he knows the meaning of a thief.
“He lives in the glass house and throwing stones. President Muhammadu Buhari will soon find out the real Oshiomhole by the time we provide documents against him.”
Several calls made to the telephone of the Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, Peter Okhiria, to get boss’ reaction to Igbinedion’s allegations on Saturday were not picked.
It is however not clear if Oshiomole has ever mentioned it in public that he owns properties outside the shore of the country.
PoliticsBrief Background Of Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Minister Of Science And Technology by ojsmscom(op): 7:05pm On Nov 12, 2015
A BRIEF PROFILE OF DR. OGBONNAYA ONU Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu was born on December 1, 1951, to the family of His Royal Highness, Late Eze David Aba Onu, Eze Adu of Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State in Nigeria. He obtained grade one with distinction in his West African School Certificate examination at Izzi High School]], Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. Dr Onu also obtained distinctions in Physics and Chemistry at the Higher School Certificate examination at the College of Immaculate Conception, CIC, Enugu, graduating as the best overall student. By 1976, he graduated with a first class honours degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Lagos. He later obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Chemical Engineering (without passing through a Masters degree) at the reputable University of California, Berkeley, California, USA, in 1980, where he did extensive work on coal liquefaction and production of synthetic fuels under mild conditions. He showed that it was possible under relatively mild conditions to produce synthetic fuels comparable with crude oil. While in the University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Onu was the President of the African Students Union; Member, Graduate Assembly of the University of California at Berkeley and also President of the Nigerian Association of Northern California, Inc. Back home, he served as President General of his alma- mater, Izzi High School, Abakaliki, Old Boys Association . Coming out of higher school, Dr. Onu taught at St. Augustine’s Seminary, Ezzamgbo, Ebonyi State. After completing his doctoral studies in the USA , he returned to Nigeria at the time when many others in his situation preferred to stay back. On coming back from overseas, he taught at the University of Port Harcourt as the pioneer Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering. On several occasions, he served as Acting Dean of the University’s Faculty of Engineering and was also elected as a Member of the Governing Council of the university. As a pioneer staff in the Faculty of Engineering and the first Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, he helped nurture the department from scratch to a position of repute. As a member of the Governing Council of the University, he worked with others to provide leadership in its search for excellence. While in Port Harcourt , he became President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt and the Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers of old Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States’ Chapter. Dr. Onu was the pioneer National President of the Raw Materials Society of Nigeria. The Raw Materials Society of Nigeria, RMSN, with the sole aim of encouraging Nigerians to look inwards in the sourcing and utilization of raw materials, played a very important role in the establishment of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, RMRDC , by the Federal Government. He served as a member of the First Board of Governors of the Federal Government Raw Materials Research and Development Council. By the establishment of the RMRDC, there was no longer any need for the RMSN to continue to exist since both of them had the same function. Dr. Onu is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering. He was also one of the longest served Directors of the Nigeria Cement Company, Nigercem, Nkalagu, Ebonyi State. He was the Visitor of Abia State University, Uturu (1992-93), having worked tirelessly to secure the University for the State. In 1991, Dr. Onu was elected the first Governor of old Abia State. He was the first Chairman, Conference of Nigerian elected Governors , the first Nigerian ever to head a forum of all governors. During his eventful tenure as Governor, he emphasized the use of technology as an important instrument for national development by starting work in the establishment of a Technology Village , as well as towards introducing computers into selected public schools. He introduced the Free Maternal Health Care Programme which enabled poor pregnant women to receive free healthcare services as a measure to reduce death during pregnancy and childbirth. Security of lives and property were considerably enhanced such that within a single year, the Abia State Police Command received two letters of commendation from the Inspector General of Police. Also the West African Examination Council (WAEC) commended the State on her stand against all forms of examination malpractice in her schools. Dr. Onu is a resolute believer in Nigeria’s unity as an instrument for national integration and development. As Governor, he abolished the State of Origin Syndrome in Abia State and led the way in appointing non-indigenes of the State into top positions of responsibility in his Administration. Using the Abia Dream as a philosophy to mobilize the people of the State to achieve excellence in all spheres of human endeavour, Dr. Onu founded the Abia State Polytechnic at Aba. He also established the College of Technical Education in Arochukwu and attracted the Michael Okpara Federal University of Agriculture at Umudike, near Umuahia. In addition, Dr. Onu established the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State as well as the National Ambassador Newspapers , which then won several awards as the best State owned Newspaper in Nigeria. As a God fearing leader, he christened Abia “God’s Own State” and symbolized his noble dream for the State by building the ‘Abia Tower of Peace’ . In 1999, he emerged the first Presidential Flagbearer of the then All Peoples Party, APP , which was later known as the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP . A true democrat and committed party loyalist, Dr. Onu demonstrated rare political discipline and consistency, by remaining one of the very few founding leaders of the opposition ANPP who remained in the party since its inception in 1998 until it merged into a new political party in 2013. Little wonder, his fellow party men and women in September 2010, in recognition of his rare political fidelity, discipline, steadfastness and exemplary commitment to the party’s ideals, elected him their National Chairman. As the Head of the leading opposition political party, he was the Leader of Opposition in the country. Dr. Onu remains a worthy role model for young politicians who are principled and put service and the common good above all other considerations. Just within a period of two years in office, as National Chairman, he united the Party and repositioned it for future electoral victory. Dr. Onu upheld internal democracy, adhered strictly to the Constitution of the Party and also introduced reforms in the ANPP. He initiated both a revised Manifesto and Constitution for the Party. Through thoughtful and fearless comments on issues of national importance, Dr. Onu restored the lost glory of the ANPP to become a credible opposition Party in Nigeria. A man of ideas, he worked on ways of positioning the ANPP to lead Nigeria into issue-based and ideas-driven politics. In 2010, as National Chairman of the defunct ANPP, he initiated discussions with the leadership of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) on how all the major opposition political parties could work together to effect change in the politics of the country. Later he also initiated meetings with the National Chairmen of all major opposition political parties. All these efforts and many others, finally resulted in the merger of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) , All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) , Congress for Progressive Change, (CPC) , and groups from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) , and the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) . Hence on July 31, 2013, the All Progressives Congress (APC) came into existence. Dr. Onu and other party leaders willingly gave up their positions as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) withdrew the registration of ACN, ANPP and CPC. On November 26, 2013, the new PDP, broke away from the ruling political party and joined the APC. This helped make the APC, the largest opposition political party in the history of the country. For over two decades, Dr. Onu delivered thought provoking lectures on different contemporary issues of national and global importance both within and outside the country. Some of the lectures include; “Nigerians should not allow one party rule” at the ANPP National Assembly Caucus, National Assembly Complex, Abuja; “Upon this Rock will Nigeria Arise” Special Session of the Kano State House of Assembly; “It is time to stand for Something”, Special Session of the Lagos State House of Assembly and “The fist as symbol of strength”, Special Session of the Benue State House of Assembly . Others are "Taking Nigerians for granted", Special Session of the Yobe State House of Assembly; "The Eagles Flight in the Global Village", Special Session of the Kebbi State House of Assembly and "The relevance of Opposition Parties in deepening democracy in Africa" , Maiden Republic Day lecture, Ghana National Union of Polytechnic Students, Accra. Honoured with several awards and recognitions both within and outside Nigeria, Dr. Onu is The 2004 Man of the Year of the reputable American Biographical Institute. He was honoured with the Governor of the Year (1992) Award and also the Star Governor (1993) Award. He is a recipient of the Kwame Nkrumah Leadership Award 2011/2012 by the West African Students Union Parliament and Honoured with “Vanguard of True Democracy” award by the Pan African Students Union Parliament. Conferred with honorary Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) by the Abia State University, Uturu, Abia State and also the University of Lagos Golden Jubilee Distinguished Alumni Award. He is an honorary citizen of many cities in the world, in addition to the State of Texas in the United States of America. Dr. Onu also holds many traditional chieftaincy titles, notably: Ikeoha Uburu, Dike-Eji-Eme-Udo of Eastern States, Akajiugo Nnewi, Ogbuagu Abiriba, Ugochinyere Umuahia, Ozurumba Orlu, Odiukonamba Eziudo Mbaise, Dikeora Abagana, Ikemba Afikpo. He is also the Togbe Kwami Vidza of Kpando District, Ghana. Dr. Onu is a member of the ancient and noble order of the Knights of St. John International (KSJ). He is the author of many books, notably: “Technology and National Development”, “Building a Modern Nigeria” and “A Footprint: Memoirs of a Chief Servant”. Dr Ogbonnaya Onu is presently the Minister of Science and Technology of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; inaugurated on November 11, 2015. A fine statesman, brilliant scholar, outstanding intellectual, accomplished administrator, prolific author and poet, a man of great ideas and inventions as well as a distinguished man of exceptional principle and exemplary character.
