mctfopt: Yeah, my production has reduced. But you can rule out failing battery by adding more loads to the inverter when it's sunny and watch the charge flowing in. Check whether the current increases (after the sunshine drops and picks up) and sharply tapers off (same may happen when battery is full or near full). But if battery is neither, then you may have a failed or failing battery. Please can you explain more on this? The same thing is happening to one 24V setup now. Sometimes it will work fine but the following day inverter will just shut down with the sunset. Though I discovered that one of the battery down to 10V while the other is 12V. The cable from that connect the battery to the Inverter are not equal. The +Ve is longer that -Ve could that be the cause? if not what could be the cause of this? |

The inverter will show that is charging but no increment in the battery voltage. The system is designed for grid interconnection with 1100W array to charge 24V200AH bank. NiyiOmoIyunade: You can never hope to balance out a 1v difference with a conventional lead acid balancer - these move on average about 1-5amps per label specs but in reality usually less than 1amp balancing current.
Their biggest failure is that they use voltage equilibrium to approximate battery SoC balance and this is very very incorrect.
What you should do is charge the batteries to full individually in 2 or 3 charge, discharge, recharge cycles and then put them back together again in series. If pressed for time, you can slap one standalone charger on each battery, set the charger absorb voltage above normal inverter absorb voltage and allow the chargers to individually charge each battery to full charge. You are doing this simultaneously e.g two separate 12v chargers attached to a live 24v battery system and charging each battery in tandem with inverter charging. The chargers can share thesame AC power source as inverter but you must never cross the DC inputs!!!
If you do it correctly, the DC voltage of the chargers will at some point override the inverter's and take your weak battery on to a full charge. Run this over a few cycles and disconnect after you see the two batteries now staying in sync under discharge and also getting to fully charged within a few minutes of each other.
If no positive changes after 10 cycles, then you have a permanent capacity mismatch that will never be fixed. You can no longer use your battery pair in series and must either purchase replacement batteries or switch to 12v in parallel.
This procedure is simple and safe but requires a thorough understanding of the physics of electron flow in a DC circuit, do not attempt if in any way you feel afraid or incompetent to see it through.
As a standalone 12v charger you can either purchase adjustable voltage smart 12v charger (if such exists locally) or as I do, use a laptop charger or AC/DC converter btw 15v to 22v DC voltage output - feed the DC output of your AC/DC charger into the PV input of a decent PWM controller and you have a DIY adjustable voltage smart 12v DC charger right there. Don't forget to set an appropriate charge algorithm on your PWM charger. Thank you very much. Can the PWM charge controller current rating matter? Or the charger current rating? If so, what is the recommended current for the 12V200AH for faster charging? |

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojtech8291: 1:01pm On Jul 05, 2020 |
dapsyra: Your CC is probably going into protection mode when the sun is very high due to one or more of the following scenarios.
1. Over Temperature. The temperature of the FETs have gone above the safety threshold due to continuous operation at maximum power
2. Over Current. The output current spiked above the rated capacity for a sustained period
3. Over Voltage. The input voltage rose above the rated MPPT voltage
You need to rejig your array to avoid these issues. It should be over voltage because the VOC of the series connection is little more than that of the CC Maximum input voltage. Maximum CC is 70V but the panels are 2S is around 77.6V. 1S4P will result to a lot of voltage drops. The only solution now is to change the CC. Thank you. |

mank1234: Go with 3s2p or 2s3p.
Edit: 260w * 6 = 1560W. Your cc puts max PV power at 1440W, you need to read the manual to know if and how it handles the excess, though you'll rarely (or never) reach 100% production. The two days sun made my cc to lose memory oh... Because of excess. Just do 4 panels for your 24V setup. |

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojtech8291: 10:27am On Jul 04, 2020 |
ojeysky: Maybe you need to do some labeling on the drawing. What I see from the diagram is that output of CC goes on to the output of the inverter battery terminal (on the inverter), and I was suggesting that it will be better you take it to the battery terminal instead as we don't know the ratings of that inverter battery terminal (which will be practically serving as bus bar for your CC) and we don't know how it will react to current from the CC directly hitting the bus bar.
As to losing current, possibly a little depending on how much current you will be pushing on the cable between inverter and battery I will amend it seems affecting the battery charging. Thank you. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojtech8291: 9:37am On Jul 04, 2020 |
ojeysky: Unless the inverter has a dedicated port for that and your CC also supports that don't do it! Output from CC should go to your battery terminals! As you can see is to the battery terminals. It is hooked at the battery terminals on the Inverter instead of running the cable from the CC down to the batteries, I stopped at the height of the Inverter. Did I lose anything from the panels to charge the battery? |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojtech8291: 6:57pm On Jul 03, 2020 |

Dam5reey: How come you got answers to this Question
What is your system Voltage?
I will assume 24V as common factor in both CC
If your system is 24V, then you cannot use the 40A controller (6* 275w is 1650w ) 1650 watts / 24 is 68.75A
So you have only one option left.. ✅
Better still use Both ✅ How can both go in this condition. 1S3P not Good because of voltage drop. What do you think I should do? Thank you |
