Chy,

Am so happy for you. Marriage is a good institution. Am married and when i started planning i didnt have money. I was earning far less than what am earning now. As long as you are in agreement with your hubby to be, just belive God for FAVOURED attached to him that finds a wife finds a good thing.

As per the colours, just pick colours you love most and go ahead and start buying the thin gs you would need gradually. Just make sure the wedding dress, rings, and the traditional items are available on or before the date.

I would pray with you.

If i may ask, Y is everyone posting their email address?

Well this guy just posted one stuff and everyone is adding their email to the long list of emails. I believe in personal branding but no particular person can teach you how to brand yourself. We can all re-brand and brand ourselves with the help of other people around us. I strongly believe that Personal Branding is just to identify your strengths and weakness and capitalise on your strength.

My good people of this forum lets be careful with how we release personal informations. Like i said before the GUY in question just posted once and that is it.

Be vigilant.

Thank you.

Thank you so much Bolubunmi, It is really nice hearing from you. I want to believe this is your first time in this room. On behalf of everyone in this forum we welcome you.

As per the training and re-training of PA's / Secretaries, organisations that are forward looking engage in such because that is the only way up for their personnel. It would bring about a total change and add to the effectiveness and efficiency of the staff. Also PA's and Secretarie should not necessarily wait for their organisation to train them, they can be involve in personal development programme in other to acquire new skill required for the job.We look forward to hearing from you.

Please if you don't mind you could as well include you e-mail address.

Thank you.

Loretta,

I think from these your explanations you can actually know if you have added value to your boss or not. You have listed some of your core duties, and i strongly believe you can evaluate yourself even before any do that for you.

Be very sincere with yourself and score yourself in those areas you feel you have done very well, and also get to improve on your weaker duties.

Look forward to hearing again from you.

Teena,

Thank you for the support. I have noticed we all have something in common if not a P.A then we are either a Secretary. Nevertheless whatever position we are , we need to communicate daily if not on a monthly basis.

We need to think of ways we can move ourselves forward on the job, and also how we can benefit from each others skill.

I have been communicating daily via  yahoo messenger with mypeace and some other professionals. It has really aided my performance, i can ask questions that would make me perform better and faster on the job.

I look forward to having more people participate.
Career / Re: Secretaries (Or Personal Assistants) On Nairaland by Ojurere(m): 12:26pm On Oct 22, 2007
Loretta,

It is very nice to hear from you. Mypeace has been able to give you an insight to your question, but i would also like you to appraise your selkf before the company would do theirs, because if you have advanced on your job you would know and if you need to improve on what you are doing now, you would also know.

The only way you can measure your success is to check your PERFORMANCE INDICES, and check if you were able to meet it or exceed their expectations about you.

Please keep us posted.

Thank you.
Career / Re: Would You Accept N12,000/months As Salary For A 2.1 Graduate? by Ojurere(m): 9:50am On Oct 19, 2007
What would i say? It's so sad that a graduate of 2.1 is offered 12k per month. What is happening in this Country, people with lesser degree get the best jobs. I would just suggest you try and get a job that would give you at least 1year experience and then change your job.

I started working in 2000 and my first job paid me 8k but i started, though it was difficult yet i had to do it becos of the experience after that job i have change jobs from 2001 till date more than 6time and now i earn reasonably high income.

I would just say you give it a try just for the experience.
Family / Re: Marriage By Introduction by Ojurere(m): 2:47pm On Oct 18, 2007
wow, what can i say? Marriage by Introduction/ correspondence. Can we find out what the Bible said about man finding the woman? Even if you were introduced on the basis of marriage, you still MUST ask her to marry you becos at time assumption is the mother of frustration. My guy you have to ask her to MARRY you, if only all you wnat in a woman is found in her.

Above all this ask God to allow his WILL be done.

Career / Re: Secretaries (Or Personal Assistants) On Nairaland by Ojurere(m): 8:14am On Oct 18, 2007
Well Mypeace has addressed the situation firmly. But i also believe you have a part to play in this issue. You have to do everything possible in the area of your job to get your boss believing in your capabilities and your job knowledge. Your boss would only give someone else your job when he realise you are not competent to the task at hand. You further need to ask your boss to do an appraisal for you so you can improve on your skills.

As for the other lady, you do not have any business with her. You just have to keep your head high and let her realise you are in charge and on top of your game in the office. You have to win your colleagues confidence and also be friends with the receptionist so that you can get first hand information as regards corresponses for your boss.
Career / Re: My German Boss Wants Me In Bed by Ojurere(m): 8:01am On Oct 18, 2007
wooooooooooow, it is very sad that you have to quit the job after 3days. But the good news is that am HAPPY for you becos you didn't disappoint God. Just hold on to God He would sort you out and give you a better job that you would love. That your boss would regret his action becos he has lost one of the best people the company would have employed.

Wow!!!, I can see have have missed alot.

I would like to welcome all NEW CLUBER's. I must say it's been very tough out here especially when my boss delivered of a baby girl. I have been very busy lately and this has affected my coming online to post comments.

Mypeace the Lord would continue to increase you and also lift you up. As you have been an asset to people in house so shall God bring men of assets into your life.

To all my colleagues that are married, i say a big CONGRATULATIONS to you all. Marriage is more than congratulations. The Lord that has done this would lead you till the end.

As per the comments on spreadsheet, i can see that most of us need to polish our skills in that area. As P.A's or Secretaries, our bosses expects too much from us in terms of computer application and appreciation. I feel we should make ourselves more value by adding more computer skills to enhance our purpose in our various organisations.

I would like you all to know that i sincerely appreciate you all.

Thankyou all for been part of this room.

My salary is very high compared to other workers that is why I'm finding it
hard to quit and find the same pay elsewhere.

What are you still doing in that kind of office. Your boss is now doing what your husband ought to be doing. I believe is not just the money that is keeping you there, maybe you also enjoy what he does.

Sojay,

You need to first identify what you want to do with your degree. I would suggest you first get to know your area of interest then follow up with relevant books in that line. I have been working for some time now and i have found marketing very interesting so i have started developing myself in that line. Though i have not added any other certificate to my B.Sc Business Admin since 1999, i have been able to attend quite a number of seminars relating to marketing, customer care and how to close sales.

I have a small library that i have equipped with some technical books that would aid my being relevant in the business world. Call me for further gist 08023048303.

Thank you.

What i meant by stealing their time is set target and make them finish in due time and alsomake them work extra hours without you letting them realise they are working overtime.
Family / Re: I Got A Job In Lagos: Am I A Bad Mother And Wife? by Ojurere(m): 8:45am On Jun 27, 2007
Cooljade,

The Bible says "Can Two Walk  Together Except they Agree" my own is can you keep the family and keep the Job.
Money is a defence but Wisdom is the principle thing. In all your getting get understanding.

You don't have anything to worry about. As long as the challenge is for a while. Why should you take up a job away from your HOME. Am married also and my wife and i have agreed the no job would put assunder in our marriage. You either depend on God to get you a better job in Abuja or not. At times it feels like things are not working for our good but guess what God is still God.

I lost my job in our 1st year of marriage and i stayed at home for almost 1year and i kept telling God i would need a job that would not take me away from my family and today i work in Lagos, my wife also work and we are better than when we first started.

Ask the Holy Spirit our teacher to direct you.

It is WELL.

Well i have read all the write-ups. I feel very honoured to have found myself in this profession. I have worked as a PA in my first job before i moved into telecoms to acquire more knowledge. I must say that your years of experience on the job has almost made you an authority if not an authority now. I started my new job sometime in August 2006 and till date am still trying hard to cope with the challenges of the job.

I applied as a Business Developer but i was interviewed as a PA. You may be wondering what is the relationship. I found it hard to believe myself. The interviewer viewed me as someone who could handle information because of my personality. By the way your personality at a PA matters alot. You are either firm or weak. I was asked which do i prefer to steal the employees time or teach the employees on how to use their time?

My answer was to first to teach them on how to use their time and secondly steak their time when a task is to be accomplished. The lady looked at me and said i would be best in the position of a PA rather than as a Business Developer.

Well am the errand boy due to the position in my unit, I work in a company where you meet with people daily and also have to attend meetings from almost morning till night. I resume at 6am and close at times 8pm depending on the meeting.

I would really appreciate it if we could exchange ideas often.

Thank you.

Career / Re: Career Training by Ojurere(m): 7:08am On Jun 27, 2007
Well i can't really say if i would be of any help. First you have to let people know your field of study so they can advise you on how to go about your training. Some quality books can also enhance your skill. I developed myself through quality book by various AUTHORS. Let us see how we can take it from there.
