Politics › Re: Joe Agi SAN Sympathizes With Late Sen. Rose Oko's Family by Okayim: 11:21am On Nov 06, 2020 |
Goodlucknigeria: In this hour of sorrow, I convey my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Late Senator Rose Okoji Oko's family, relatives and the good people of Cross River North Senatorial district. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Dr (Mrs) Rose Okoji Oko was a patriotic Nigerian and a dogged fighter whose contributions to national development were immeasurable. She would be greatly missed by many including, family, the People’s Democratic Party, Yala, the Senate, Cross River State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Her contributions to the growth of democracy in the country will be remembered for generations especially her elegance and highly cerebral nature with captivating command of English language.
As a Senator, she made useful contributions while she led her Senatorial district in the Upper House. History certainly will reserve many positive pages on the big impact she made in her Sixty Three (63) productive years on earth.
The late Senator was a very vibrant legislator who brought to bear her wealth of experience in education, the civil societies and the government to debates in the Senate. Her contributions on burning national issues were very valuable because she possessed all round knowledge on various issues.
Although I received the news of her death with shock and disbelief, I give glory to God for a life well spent.
While I pray that God would grant her eternal rest and give her family the strength to bear the loss, I urge family, friends and associates to find solace in the fact that the late Senator left an enviable political career that would be treasured for a long time to come.
May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace!
Signed: Chief Joe Agi, SAN May her soul rest in peace |

Jobs/Vacancies › N-power Announces Extension Of 2016 Beneficiaries’ Programme by Okayim(op): 8:11pm On Jan 29, 2019 |
Afolabi Imoukhuede, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation and Youth Empowerment, has announced that the 2016 batch ‘A’ N-power volunteers programme has been extended. Imoukhuede disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja while featuring on the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) forum. The 2018 N-power volunteers recruited into the scheme in 2016 were earlier scheduled to exit the programme in 2018. According to him, although two years was originally designed for them to exit, the volunteers will now remain due to critical needs of their services in some sectors. He said that the volunteers were filling a lot of gap, especially the N-teach who have had to make up for the shortfall of teachers in most schools across the country. “What we have found out is that they are filling a lot of gaps in some places like schools, where they do not have enough teachers. “In some schools where the N-power volunteers are posted to, you discovered that it is only the principal and some NYSC members that are teaching students, the N-power teachers have helped to compliment their efforts,” he said. Imoukhuede added that these among many others were the reason they were asked to continue their job, adding that the programme had been of greater value to the country. He, however, said that some volunteers had voluntarily exited the programmes as a result of new jobs, self employment among others.
