Since the beginning of time, people have referred to breakfast as “the most important meal of the day.” So, following this belief, what you choose to eat for breakfast should also be your most important decision of the day, right? According to Buzzfeed, how you choose to attack breakfast can often serve as a microcosm of how you attack life, in general. Here’s what I mean:

1. Baco

Business / Top Three Formulas To Successfully Sell Your New Product by okpiewon(m): 2:33pm On Apr 29, 2016
For the second consecutive day, the Nigerian currency maintained a steady status against the dollar on the parallel market. This, our sources have revealed, may not be unconnected to the sudden rise in the price of crude oil to $47/barrel, the highest rate in 2016. Many observers had blamed the uncertainty surrounding the naira fall against the American currency on the inconsistent prices of crude oil. This has however, changed since the turn of the year as the naira has continued to firm up against the dollar.

Business / Top Three Formulas To Successfully Sell Your New Product by okpiewon(m): 12:39pm On Apr 29, 2016
1. Why Should Customers Buy Your Product?

All ethical sales are a result of meeting a customer’s want or need. For example, it would be unethical to sell a more expensive roof with a 50-year warranty to a 90-year-old homeowner. However, that same sale would be ethical if you could get that 90-year-old a higher selling price for her home with that extended warranty.

As an ethical sales professional, you need to know why a customer would want or need your product. We can assume that the people who developed the product understand why–they identified a need or want and then developed the product. So now, you as a sales professional need to know what problem or need the new product is designed to meet.
Don’t be surprised if the market tells you something more. You might be familiar with minoxidil, a drug used for treating male-pattern baldness and hair loss in women. Did you know that oral minoxidil was originally used for treating high blood pressure? Its use expanded as patients and health care providers noticed that hair growth was a side effect of treatment.
You still have to start with a reason customers should buy, whether or not the market gives you new information.
2.Who Is Your Customer?

You can develop an effective sales process only when you know who your customer is. Some salespeople think that everyone is their prospect. That’s wrong.
You don’t have the time to sell to everyone. What you want to do instead is define your ideal customer. Selling to an ideal customer is a lot easier and more effective than trying to sell to everyone.
Consider who would need your product, and determine both the demographics and psychographics of your ideal customer. Some demographics or statistical data to consider are age, gender, income, job title, location, years of experience, or other relevant data.
Next, consider the psychographics of your prospects or the way they think. Are they risk takers or are they risk averse? Are they big spenders or are they frugal? Is quality important to them? Is their appearance important to them? You can begin to connect your product to your prospect once you know how they think.
What you will be doing with this information is looking for prospects who match those demographics and psychographics. It’s not that you won’t consider anyone who isn’t a 100 percent but you will know that they will be harder to sell to when they are a mismatch.

Politics / Good News: See Why Senate To Reform Nigeria Railway System by okpiewon(m): 8:37pm On Apr 25, 2016
It is with great pleasure that I welcome all our invited guests to this momentous event as we gather to deliberate on how best to reform our railway system. The Nigerian Railway Corporation Act Amendment bill 2015, is one of the high priority bills of the National Assembly and we are
determined to ensure its passage in the manner that you, will advise through this public hearing.
The 8th National Assembly remains committed to providing the necessary legislative support to aid infrastructure development and lay down the architecture on which a new virile Nigerian economy could be built. The rail system is one of the most important arterial systems of our economy and therefore a major determinant of the success or otherwise of our economic reform package. However, not so much havebeen achieved in the past to move this critical vehicle of the economy from the colonial initiative it has been to a 21st century economy solution.
The existing law in the rail subsector was drafted and enacted to support an outmoded model that restricts management and investments in railway to the public sector. Aside the fact that this law has become too old and outmoded, many experts including the business community agree that there is need to separate the regulator from the operator and give investment remit to both the states and the private investor to invest in the sector. This, it is said, is to ensure a much more rapid deployment of the rail system across the nation and bring in competition, innovation and drive in this all-important sector.
Distinguished Colleagues, invited guests, I sincerely hope that the proposed Railway Bill will lead to andush

Politics / Why Senates Defends Purchase Of Exotic Jeeps For N36.5m Each by okpiewon(m): 6:34pm On Apr 19, 2016
The Senate on Tuesday, justified its decision to buy 36 Sport Utility Vehicles for its members just as it clarified that the money was sourced from its 2015 budget.

Chairman, Committee on Senate Services, Senator Abdullahi Gobir, who made the clarification in an interview with journalists, also described as untrue, insinuations that senators collected car loans, shortly after inauguration of the 8th Senate.
He said each of the senators from the 36 states, who are either chairman or vice-chairman of committees, got a vehicle, with the understanding of their two other colleagues.

He also put the value of each of the Land Cruiser VXR V8 vehicles at N36.6m including the cost of purchase, and other taxes.

He said, “A lot has been happening within the last two days concerning the issue of cars vis a vis car loan, and cost of the car and we feel it is necessary to come out and inform the public about what it is so that people can have a better understanding of the whole thing to avoid wrong perception as being created among Nigerians.

“First, I would like to say that the issue that we bought 108 cars is totally wrong, It is not correct. We bought 36 cars. These 36 cars because each senator in each state is either a Chairman or a Vice Chairman and we gave one car to each state.

“We don’t have money to buy 108 cars. On the issue of buying cars without appropriation. This is totally wrong because this has been appropriated for in the 2015 budget.

“So we used what we have in the 2015 budget to buy the 36 cars so that it can go round to each state.

“On the issue of the cost of the car, the showroom price, the cost of the car is N36.5m and we are surprised. The car we bought is Land Cruiser VXR V8 not V6, therefore the showroom price is about N31m minimum and when you put 10 Per cent tax it becomes 36.5m.

In fact you can go to the internet and download it. It is very simple, we can give you the website, we have several items we downloaded from the internet, you can see them. This particular car costs about $90,000.

“By the time you multiply that you will have about N28.8m so when you add tax, you will end up with about N37m. So I think what we have purchased the car for is very reasonable and.sensite to economic challenge.

“We are supposed to buy 109 cars but because of the paucity of funds, because of our sensitivity and concern for lack of funds we bought only 36 to go round per state.

“There is no minister that hasn’t got about three or four cars, One land cruiser, maybe a backup and two Hilux cars. There is no director in the civil service that hasn’t got a car, there is no perm sec that hasn’t got a land cruiser.

The propaganda about his approach to governance is just to coerce him to relax and he will never relax until things are done right. The insistence to have the complete budget document is to ensure that Nigeria has a document that is truly a policy guide, a realistic budget that has interest of the people.” Buni noted that Nigeria was going through a challenging period caused by the former administration but expressed optimism that things will get better. “It is sad that Nigeria has to pass through these hard times at this moment under the APC-led administration. It is equally sad that the economy is weak, owing to the dwindling oil prices, which is our major source of income. The difficulty is over bloated by the damage done to the economy and infrastructures in the last 16 years when, as a nation, with buoyant economy, we failed to maintain and improve on the existing infrastructures. Politics / New Bill: Senate Today Present 8 New Bill, 6 Pass The First Reading by okpiewon(m): 6:35am On Apr 13, 2016
The Nigerian Senate has commenced moves to shelve the Code of Conduct Act, with the aim of eradicating the code of conduct tribunal (CCT) from the office of secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) and the presidency.
Vanguard on April 12, reports that the Senate in a new inventiveness is out to reduce the powers of the code of conduct bureau (CCB) and CCT. It was gathered that the code of conduct act CAP C15 LFN 2004 bill, which was sponsored by a representative of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta

Senator Nwaoboshi, who is also the chairman, Senate committee on Niger Delta affairs in the bill tagged: “Code of Conduct Act Cap C15 LFN 2004 (Amendment) Bill 2016, the Senate is seeking to transfer the control of CCT and CCB from the Office of Secretary to Government of the Federation, SGF, to National Assembly or the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF.” However, before the reading of the Bill for the first time, there was a mild drama when the first “Order Paper” for April 12, which was disseminated to newsmen, was later withdrawn. It was gathered that the retrieved order paper, the code of conduct bill was absent, but comprised in the copy distributed to lawmakers. The second order paper was circulated to reporters few minutes after the lawmakers concluded a closed-door session, where the Bill ought to have been read for the first time without puclicity. It was also gathered that some lawmakers protested against the move, after which Saraki, ruled that it should be made open. Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, who spoke with journalists after yesterday’s plenary pointed out that the bill was to save the citizens and Nigeria from obsessive politicians, who will always use CCT to go after perceived enemies and settle some differences. Saraki is currently standing trial for a 13-count criminal charge filed against him by the federal government. Sahara Reporters informed that Saraki in another desperate attempt to evade justice summoned an emergency meeting with the “likemind” Senators yesterday night at his home. Senator Dino Melaye reportedly sent the invitation of the meeting to his associates using the cell phone of the Senate president’s deputy chief of staff, Peter Makanjuola, in a bid to avoid being detected.

Phones / 14 Things You Didn't Know Your Apple Headphones Can Do by okpiewon(m): 10:06am On Apr 12, 2016
1. Play/pause songs
How: Click center button

If you want to start playing the song you left off on—or to pause it midstream—simply click the center button to get the ball rolling (or stopping). In addition to songs, this (and the rest of the music-related tricks) will work with videos and podcasts, and applies to streaming services like Spotify as well as your iTunes library.

2. Skip to the next song
How: Double-click center button

To skip over the filler in your favorite albums, or to reach "Eye of The Tiger" and give your stamina a much needed boost at the tail end of your morning jog, a quick double click will do the trick.

3. Start a song over
How: Triple-click center button

If you just can't listen to "Uptown Funk" enough times, you can triple click the center button to repeat the funk over, and over, and over again. Don't believe me? Just click (thrice).

4. Fast-forward
How: Double-click, and hold (during a song/video)

Because sometimes, you just want to skip to the good part.

5. Rewind
How: Triple-click and hold (during a song/video)

Because sometimes, you just want to experience the good part all over again.

6. Take a picture
How: Click either volume button (with camera app open)

If you need to swiftly snap an incriminating photo of your best friend at 4 AM, but need to keep your hands steady, an ideal way to get shot you want, without your fingers messing up the action is by clicking the volume button, which is effectively a shutter when your camera is open.

7. Use it as a microphone
How: Um, just talk into it

Okay, so this might be the most "obvious" inclusion on this list, but you'd be surprised as to how many people don't realize that little volume control is also an effective microphone (it has a lil' microphone emblem, on the back you know). As someone who spends a lot of time on the phone for work inside an occasionally noisy open office, I can personally attest that this is the best way to clearly communicate over your phone or take down a voice memo.
8. Answer the phone
How: When getting an incoming call, click the center button once

Simple enough, but not having to take your phone out of your pocket when you get a call is surprisingly cool, though you can't screen your calls with your phone in your pants...

9. Hang up the phone
How: Click the center button once (while on the phone)

If you want to end the call you've started (probably because you didn't see who was calling, in the first place) just hit the center button again and get on with your life. If you are getting another call, and want to hang up on the one you are on, this works, too.

10. Hold one call, and switch to another line
How: Click center button once (while on the phone, and getting another call)

When your on the phone with your mistress, and then your other mistress calls, you can put her on hold and answer the other call, just by holding down the center button for a second. No one gets hung up on; everything is cool.

11. Hang up on someone on the other line

Phones / 25 Hidden Iphone Features That Are Really, Truly Hidden by okpiewon(m): 7:56pm On Apr 11, 2016
Redial: In the Phone app, press the green call button on the keypad screen to make the last dialed number appear.

Clear cache: Make your iPhone run faster by clearing out the cache in several of Apple’s apps using a secret trick. In the App Store, Podcasts, Music, Game Center, iMessage and Phone apps, tap on any single tab icon at the bottom of the screen 10 times in a row.

Make TouchID work faster: Save the same fingerprint multiple times as different entries and TouchID will work much faster. This is especially useful on older phones like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5s.

Spotlight conversions: Remember when we told you how easy conversions are in our post on Google search tricks? It’s even easier for iPhone users — just open Spotlight and type something like “20 euros in GBP,” and it will instantly perform the conversion.

Spotlight math: Want to do a quick math problem? No need to open the Calculator app, just pull down to open Spotlight and type it right there.

Delete numbers in the Calculator: Speaking of the Calculator, you can delete single digits when you tap the wrong number by swiping left or right on the screen where the numbers appear.

Clear RAM to make your phone run faster: Hold down the power button until you see “Slide to power off,” then let go and hold down the home button until the screen goes blank and your home screen reappears.

Burst mode: Hold down the camera’s shutter button to shoot in burst mode.

Remote shutter: Use the volume up or down button on your headphones to snap a photo in the Camera app.

Turn the flashlight off: How many times have you turned your flashlight on and wished that you didn’t have to swipe open the Control Panel again to shut it off? We’ll save you a step: simply swipe up on the camera icon on your lock screen and the flashlight will turn off.

3D Touch while drawing: All of the drawing tools and the eraser are pressure sensitive in the Notes app.

Close multiple apps at once: Double-tap the home button to open the app switcher and you can use two, even three fingers to slide multiple apps closed with one swipe.

Recently closed tabs: Want to reread this article on your phone but you forgot what site you were reading it on in the first place? Simply tap and hold on the + symbol in Safari on the tab carousel view to open a screen that lists all of your recently closed tabs.

Desktop version of a site: We all know you can request the desktop version of a mobile site in Safari but it’s easier to do than you think. Just hold down the reload button in the URL bar.

Peek at tabs: Not sure you want to open that tab in the Safari tab carousel? A 3D Touch will let you Peek at it first.

Peek at bookmarks: Did you know you can use 3D Touch to Peek at bookmarks before you open them?

Edit reminders: 3D Touch an item in your Reminders app to edit the time or add a location.

View only unread emails: So you don’t practice “inbox zero” like I do but you only want to see unread emails in your inbox. Tap the Mailboxes link in the top right corner of the Mail app and then tap Edit. Tap the circle next to “Unread” and you’ll have a new folder that contains only your unread emails.

Save a draft with one swipe: In the Mail app, tap on the subject line and swipe down to the bottom of the screen to save a draft.

Quick Reply: When you get a notification at the top of the screen that you have a new iMessage or SMS, pull the notification downward to reply without leaving the screen you’re on.

Hidden level(s): Slide to the left in the Compass app open the level. Then place your phone flat with the screen facing away from the ground to reveal a bubble level.

Artist Peek: 3D Touch an artist in the Music app to Peek at their music.

Technology Market / Nigeria To Launch First Astronaut In Space Before 2030- Minister Of Science by okpiewon(m): 7:27pm On Mar 25, 2016
Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, says that Nigeria will launch its first Astronaut into space before 2030. Onu said this while speaking to a delegation from the Defence Space Agency in Abuja yesterday March 24th.

“On or before 2030, we can do it with the programme and infrastructure that we have. Space technology is very important to protect our national interest as we already have satellite in space.
All the things that is needed is in the budget that has just being passed and from this year we will commence the implementation of the programme that we have and because of the importance of space to the wellbeing of the nation, we will work very hard to launch a Nigerian astronaut before 2030“he said

Politics / 3 Reasons Burahi May Aack Rotimi Amaechi by okpiewon(m): 6:03pm On Mar 22, 2016
The indications of Amaechi’s possible sack was informed by the supposed anti-corruption stance of the Buhari-led Federal Government which the foreign diplomats presume has been greatly compromised.

1. sale of state assets and the consequent Whitepaper issued by the state government during his tenure as the governor.

2. About five senior diplomats have had reason to pass similar observations to the presidency after the Rivers State government Whitepaper that indicted the Minister of Aviation, Amaechi over alleged corruption during his years as governor.“If I can recall very vividly, they told the president that until people like Amaechi in his government are excused from government to defend the telling allegations against him, the corruption fight will not be taken seriously.”

Business / See 14 Powerful Remark Made By Senate President Bukola Saraki At NASSBER by okpiewon(m): 10:34pm On Mar 21, 2016
REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, HIS EXCELLENCY, SENATOR (DR.) ABUBAKAR BUKOLA SARAKI, AT THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MAIDEN BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT ROUNDTABLE (NASSBER), TODAY 21ST OF MARCH 2016.
PROTOCOL;
1. Let me begin by thanking all of you for honouring our invitation to this groundbreaking edition of the National Assembly Business Environment Roundtable (NASSBER). I want to especially thank the technical team lead by Professor Paul Idornigie, for their far reaching and very well researched report, our development partners DFID ENABLE project, the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), the Nigerian Bar Association Session on Business Law (NBA, SBL) for collaborating with us to make this day a reality.
2. When the present National Assembly came to the saddle last year, we inherited an economy that was sliding precipitously and dangerously out of control due to our over reliance on oil. It is this state of things that the new APC government inherited. We set forth therefore to frame for ourselves a specific legislative agenda to guide our legislative priorities. Our agenda was conceived on the notion of a renewed national development imperative which puts harnessing private sector at the fulcrum for national growth and development. We were alive from the onset that to achieve this would require deliberate steps to redefine the Nigerian business and investment climate using lawmaking. It all starts with a comprehensive legislative review.
