BY ANTHONY ADA ABRAHAM Over the years as a journalist, I’ve met Bash Ali multiple times in Asokoro, interviewing him about his relentless pursuit to enter the "Guinness Book of Records" as the oldest man to compete in a professional boxing fight. Administrations have come and gone, yet none deemed his ambition worthy of support. To me, it wouldn’t have cost much to help him achieve this dream, a dream that meant everything to him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJp7m4nlbu8?feature=shared Now, seeing him speak about it again breaks my heart. Age has taken its toll; he no longer possesses the strength he once had, and I wonder if he could even endure the fight if given the chance. Over the years, he has made serious allegations about corruption stifling his efforts—any journalist who has engaged with him knows exactly what I mean. If it were up to me, I’d tell him to let it go. Nigeria has a way of crushing dreams, especially when there’s nothing in it for the powers that be.

Before the advent of the so-called Yahoo, weren't people wearing dreads? Abi our musicians and other other artistes that on dreads are yahoo boys. Please think rationally Novice1: |
helinues:You would be shocked that he was advised by some elderly imams and advisers. But common sense isn't common |
Omexonomy:That's inhuman |
Pierocash:I agree with you. But the electorates are the worst of them. |
BY ANTHONY ADA ABRAHAM One thing our politicians and their security enforcers fail to grasp is the absurdity of branding people with dreadlocks as criminals. How many terrorists, thieves, or even Boko Haram and Fulani militants have been arrested with dreadlocks? It’s baffling how grown men in power can genuinely believe that young men with dreads are the root of society’s problems. Ironically, these same officials travel abroad and happily interact with people who wear dreadlocks, grinning like chickens. Take, for instance, the son of one of our FCT minister, he carries dreadlocks. Many children of politicians, business elites, and even security personnel wear them. Should they all be labeled threats to the state? Who even advises these leaders? What kind of reasoning is this? And what about those born with natural dreadlocks ("dada" ? Should their heads be chopped off simply because one man links their hair to insecurity? We must seriously reconsider the people we elect to lead us. If a leader can boldly claim that young men with dreadlocks are the primary cause of insecurity, then 99 per cent of innocent Nigerians, including their own childre should prepare for jail. By that logic, those wearing beads (like the leader himself) shouldn’t be spared either, since they’re more likely to be bandits than those with dreads. What we needed from him was a clear stance against illegal weapons, especially among herders and "Yan daba" thugs, not a ridiculous hairstyle-based profiling system. In Nigeria, poverty is a death sentence. Those close to this man should advise him immediately. His reckless statement has already given the police and other authorities a license to harass and extort innocent citizens in and around the state. ©️ Okrote4real

PRESS STATEMENT BY CORE MEMBERS OF THE FORMER CONGRESS FOR PROGRESSIVE CHANGE (CPC) REAFFIRMING OUR LOYALTY TO THE APC AND SUPPORT FOR PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU, GCFR Date: Thursday, April 17, 2025 We, the undersigned leaders and dedicated members of the former Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), instrumental in the historic merger that birthed the All Progressives Congress (APC), issue this statement to reaffirm our unwavering loyalty to our great party and express our strong solidarity with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. Recent misleading narratives suggesting defection or discontent among CPC stakeholders are baseless, mischievous, and should be disregarded. We remain a vital part of the APC, fully committed to its leadership and vision. ### **Our Position:** **WE STAND FIRMLY WITH THE APC** We categorically state that we have neither left the APC nor do we intend to leave. The CPC bloc remains one of the APC’s foundational pillars, and we are resolute in our commitment to the party and its progressive ideals. **THE APC IS OUR COLLECTIVE PROJECT** As a legacy party within the APC, we take pride in the sacrifices made to build a platform that fosters national unity, justice, and development. We will not allow individuals to dismantle the party we helped build through years of tireless dedication. **WE REJECT THE POLITICS OF DIVISION AND DESPERATION** Attempts to sow disunity within the party and the country do not reflect the will or position of genuine CPC core members and are wholly unacceptable. **SUPPORT FOR PRESIDENT TINUBU’S RENEWED HOPE AGENDA** We fully endorse the economic and governance reforms led by President Bola Tinubu. While these policies may present challenges, they are crucial steps toward rebuilding our economy and securing a prosperous future for all Nigerians. We urge patience and collective support as their benefits unfold. **INTERNAL GRIEVANCES MUST BE ADDRESSED THROUGH DUE PROCESS** We acknowledge that some members may feel sidelined, but such concerns are not unique to any one bloc. We encourage those affected to seek redress through established constitutional channels within the party, rather than resorting to negative public agitation or hasty exits. **OUR DEMOCRACY AND PARTY MUST BE STRENGTHENED, NOT WEAKENED** At this pivotal moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey, all APC members—especially those deeply rooted in the party’s formation—must work together to preserve its legacy and consolidate Nigeria’s democracy. Actions that undermine our unity and national stability must be avoided. **CALL FOR ENHANCED ENGAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION** We urge APC leadership to increase engagement with members at all levels. Strengthening internal communication will foster inclusiveness, reduce tensions, and enhance support for the party’s programs. Party unity must be continuously nurtured to sustain past gains and secure a prosperous future. We therefore reaffirm our loyalty to the APC and our steadfast support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. The CPC family remains a crucial pillar of the APC and will continue to play a responsible role in its growth and in Nigeria’s progress. **God Bless President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.** **Long Live the APC!** **Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!** **Signed:** 1. PRESS RELEASE NUJ FCT seeks Wike’s intervention on deplorable infrastructure at Council Secretariat …Decry High Cost of Living, Data, Poor Electricity Supply The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has appealed to the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike, to urgently intervene in addressing the dilapidated state of infrastructure at the Council Secretariat in Utako, Abuja. The appeal formed a major resolution at the second Congress of the NUJ FCT Council held on Saturday, 12th April 2025. Delegates at the meeting lamented the poor condition of the facility currently used for Congresses, describing it as unfit for a professional body of journalists operating within the nation’s capital. Congress called on the Minister, fondly referred to as Mr Project for his visible development strides across the FCT, to extend similar attention to the NUJ FCT Council Secretariat. The Union also appealed to him to come to its aid in the completion of the long-delayed NUJ Pentagon, a building envisioned to serve as a landmark edifice for journalists in Abuja. “The current state of our secretariat is appalling. We are earnestly appealing to the Honourable Minister to undertake a facility tour and see for himself the infrastructural decay we contend with. We believe that under his leadership, the Secretariat and Pentagon project can finally be transformed into a lasting legacy,” the Congress resolved. In addition to the infrastructure concerns, the NUJ FCT Council used the platform to draw attention to broader socio-economic issues confronting residents of the capital and Nigerians at large. Congress decried the persistent power outages across the FCT, attributing the problem to the inefficiencies of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC). It warned that the poor electricity supply was stifling productivity and negatively impacting quality of life. Similarly, members criticised the rising cost of telecommunications and internet data, describing it as a heavy financial burden on citizens. They urged the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to investigate billing practices and introduce measures that ensure affordability and consumer protection. The Congress also expressed grave concern over the increasing rate of maternal mortality, which it linked to worsening economic conditions and inflation. It called on the Federal Government to provide free maternal healthcare services, including pre-natal, ante-natal, and post-natal care, to alleviate the burden on expectant mothers and reduce preventable deaths. In conclusion, the Congress reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the welfare of journalists and the general public, pledging continued engagement with relevant authorities to address these pressing challenges. A prominent businessman, Mr Boniface Okoli has raised concerns over what he describes as a coordinated effort to tarnish his reputation. Okoli emphasized his commitment to transparency and stated that he will not be intimidated by "baseless smear campaigns to tarnish his hard earned image and reputation. He raised the alarm over what he described as a campaign of calumny being orchestrated against him by certain individuals who see him as a threat to their business. In a statement released on Friday in Abuja, he alleged that false information is being circulated via a planned Press Briefing with the intent to damage his credibility and business interests. While he did not name specific individuals or entities, he indicated that legal action may be pursued against those found responsible. Okoli said the plan is being orchestrated by certain individuals, who are allegedly competing with him in the same line of business sponsoring some persons to dent his image. “Information reaching me is that some persons are making very calculated and sinister plans to coopt the media to launch a Media onslaught against my name, my business interests and partners. “There is an established link between the people and some of my business detractors. Therefore, such a move cannot succeed, and those plotting it should desist forthwith, else they will be met with the full wrath of the law. “It is this heinous plot that has necessitated this press conference. I was advised from the beginning not to say anything, and I have strictly adhered to that advice but it has become necessary to let the perpetrators know that I am fully aware and would be ready to deploy the full arm of the law against them. “But considering what is happening at the moment, there are certain things I find very reprehensible and difficult to understand. From what I have gathered, some people have been paid—some have even been briefed on what to do, and they were given money for that purpose which I am aware of. Excerpts of the Statement Gentlemen of the Press, My attention has been drawn with grave concerns to a sinister campaign of calumny which is been orchestrated against my person in tacit collaboration with a section of the media. I would like to bring your attention to what is at play here as a pure case of unnecessary witchcraft by certain individuals trying to denigrate my hard earned reputation. Their planned outburst is a product of paranoia - an uncomfortable exertion arising from their witch hunt against my business ventures which they have failed woefully. I would like to put the nation and the media on notice to expect more of this kind of wild witch hunt made by such persons but I will fight viciously back using the full length of the law. The attack is not coming as a surprise to me, as it has become the trend for business competitors and certain elements to attempt yo discredit whom God has blessed. These shenanigans are not strange. They appear to play out in cycles, particularly when they see God's hand and grace virtually in all you do. I'm glad this action is taking place today! There are too many people who are comfortable with saying the most obscene, inhumane things about successful people. Especially those users who rely on sharing false information and presenting it as factual statements to justify their hate. Proverbs 24:15-16 says: "Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; Do not destroy his resting place; For a ) righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked and unrighteous stumble in time of calamity". I will neither watch nor sleep and allow anyone tarnish my image. I have adequately informed my legal team to be at alert to do the needful. The law must take its cause. This is a warning to those who mess with God's people! "Ubi jus, ibi remedium" ! Thank you!

BY KUNI TYESSI Only on Thursday did I get to realize that there's no legislation backing the almajiri system of education in Nigeria- not to talk of an implementation frame work. This simply means that almajiri education is the proverbial goat that belongs to an entire community with individuals believing that the next household will feed it. This is after a decade and more of being within the education space, and with the knowledge that billions of tax payers money including those of donors have been spent for this cause. As far as the almajiri/out- of school children saga is concerned, I thought the issue of lack of data which had scandalized the nation at home, and before the international community by pegging the figures at 10.5 million for close to 20 years or more was enough. Not until the figure jumped to 13.2 million, and was said to have reduced to 6.9million; then to 13.2 million again, and then to 18/20 million today. The government at the federal and state levels do not have the accurate data, but shamelessly rely on figures churned out by UNESCO and sometimes-UNICEF, even though the latter UN organization usually distances itself from such controversies with claims that it uses figures released by the NBS. This revelation by Plan International, as shocking as it was, left me wondering if as a nation, the government- particularly state governors are indeed sincere in ending the spate of almajiri/ out-of school children syndrome. I haven't forgotten that a large number of them fail to pay counterpart funding for the progression of basic education in their states. Some of the northern governors, according to Plan International even said they do not have out-of school children in their states. This is laughable! There is a commission in charge of almajiri education, and a sister commission in charge of basic education and out-of school children that have been backed by Acts. How did this happen without a legislation in support of almajiri education? Different ministers have manned the Federal Ministry of Education for years, and have continued to keep Nigerians abreast about this national challenge with the mindset that like the dreaded hydra, it has many parts that have continued to resurface after some victories have been achieved. With this quantum shame of a nation, it was either the past ministers didn't know about its lack of legislation and so were meandering in the dark, or they knew, but simply lacked the political will to make and effect a difference through an executive bill. Nevertheless, on that same Thursday, the minister of state for education did reveal that the National Assembly, through the deputy speaker has assured that with modalities put in place, almajiri education will have legislation. As much as I still believe in Nigeria, and certain that we are going through a daunting process that should end well, even with the minister's pronouncements and positive body language, I will never say it is Uhuru. This is coming from the belief that the situation is a case of "once bitten, twice shy", and for the third time, one becomes a fool. So, as far as almajiri education is concerned, Nigeria is still a far cry from a positive reality. May Nigeria succeed! https://kakaakireporters.com/almajiri-again-nigerians-have-been-scammed/

After spending four years behind bars, 12 members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), have been granted freedom by Ebonyi State High Court. The inmates, part of 36, were said to have been held since May 24, 2021 but finally set free in compliance with successive court orders discharging and acquitting them of all charges. The Lead Counsel to IPOB, Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor said their freedom followed a formal application by the Ebonyi State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). He said, "12 Biafran Inmates Regain Freedom After Nearly Four Years In Detention: Freedom Long Denied, Finally Restored!!! https://youtube.com/shorts/vg4s0uJsypk?feature=shared "History has been made on, April 10, 2025, at the Ebonyi State High Court, as 12 Biafran inmates - part of a group of 36 held since May 24, 2021 - were finally set free in compliance with successive court orders discharging and acquitting them of all charges. "This victory follows a formal application by the Ebonyi State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), who, in acknowledgement of repeated judicial pronouncements, withdrew the latest charge filed against these 12 individuals. "It marked a long-overdue respect for the rule of law and a reaffirmation of their innocence, which courts had upheld time and again. In line with the court’s directive, I personally ensured the handover of the released individuals, an order promptly complied with by the prison authorities. "Our legal team remains relentless and fully committed to securing the freedom of the remaining detainees - men who have also been discharged and acquitted by no fewer than four different High Courts in Ebonyi State. "Their release is no longer a matter of if but when, and that moment draws closer by the day. Justice may be delayed, but it shall not be denied. Freedom must prevail." |

South African Billionaire Xolane Ndhlovu Helps Repatriate Young Woman’s Body After Tragic Malaria Death in Nigeria A South African family shattered by the sudden loss of their 29-year-old daughter, Primrose Vale, to malaria in Lagos, Nigeria, during the festive season, has found solace through the extraordinary generosity of billionaire Xolane Ndhlovu. The talented makeup artist's death left the Vale family not only heartbroken but also facing the daunting financial burden of repatriating her remains, a cost exceeding R97,000. In a remarkable act of compassion, Mr. Ndhlovu donated R100,000, a gesture that profoundly impacted the family, enabling them to bring their beloved daughter home for a proper burial. Overwhelmed with gratitude, a family spokesperson acknowledged Mr. Ndhlovu's incredible kindness as a beacon of hope in their darkest hour. The community's support also highlighted the often-overlooked financial challenges that accompany tragedy abroad. Primrose’s untimely passing serves as a poignant reminder of life’s fragility and the ongoing threat posed by malaria. Mr. Ndhlovu’s timely and generous contribution underscores the profound difference one act of empathy can make, offering the grieving family a measure of peace. Well known for his humility and philanthropic spirit, Ndhlovu made headlines in 2024 when he gifted a house to Thandile Ramza, an unemployed single mother from East London, South Africa, whom he met on Facebook. Ramza had initially reached out for food assistance — but left with a job, a car, and eventually a brand-new home, thanks to the tech billionaire’s compassion.
