Protect Yourselves from Dangerous Invaders

BY ANTHONY ADA ABRAHAM
As an Idoma man, I cannot stand by and watch as my people are attacked under the guise of nomadic activities. If the security forces cannot protect them, does that mean they shouldn’t defend themselves?

Many people avoid traveling home out of fear of being attacked by gunmen posing as nomads. When discussions about designated grazing reserves for Fulani herders came up, they were dismissed. When ranching was suggested as a solution, they refused, choosing instead to roam freely, causing chaos and destruction.

These armed groups move around unchecked, carrying deadly weapons, yet security forces fail to act. And you expect the people to remain defenseless? They invade farms, destroy crops, and threaten lives, should the victims simply applaud them?

It’s time for the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the grazing routes issue. The era of unchecked cattle movement must come to an end. If some insist that their culture involves wandering with cattle, others have the right to reject a culture that brings conflict and destruction.

The establishment of ranches would resolve much of this crisis, and border security must also be strengthened, as many of these attackers infiltrate Nigeria from beyond our borders.

Additionally, I have heard claims that some village chiefs accept payments from Fulani herders before allowing them to settle and graze in their communities. If this is true, then local leaders must be held accountable when these herders turn against their hosts, destroying farmlands and endangering lives.

We cannot continue lamenting hunger, violence, and destruction while ignoring practical solutions. Enough is enough! Our people should not have to live in fear, unable to sleep peacefully in their own villages.

As I always say, if the government and security forces fail to protect you, do not wait to become a victim before taking steps to protect yourselves.

As my father wisely put it: "Na person wey dey alive dey explain wetin happen."

Let us continue advocating for peace while ensuring our own safety is sacrosanct.

I rest my case.

PoliticsDelta APC SEC Dismisses Sobotie's Petition Against Morka, Calls For His Suspensi by okrote4real(op): 2:10pm On Mar 19, 2025
DELTA APC STATE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (SEC) DISMISSES ELDER OMENI SOBOTIE'S PETITION AGAINST BARR. FELIX MORKA, APC NATIONAL PUBLICITY SECRETARY, AS RECKLESS, AND CALLS FOR SOBOTIE'S IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION FROM OFFICE AS STATE CHAIRMAN

19th March, 2027

*Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje,*
National Chairman,
All Progressives Congress (APC),
National Secretariat,
40 Blantyre Crescent,
Wuse 2, Abuja.

Dear Sir,

*RE: PETITION AGAINST THE NATIONAL PUBLICITY SECRETARY, BARR. FELIX MORKA, FOR GROSS ABUSE OF OFFICE AND CALL FOR HIS REMOVAL*

We, the majority members of the State Executive Committee (SEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State Chapter, hereunder named, write to express our utmost dismay and condemnation of the action of the State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, in bringing the above-referenced petition. Further, we wish to state as follows:

1. The petition was authored unilaterally by Sobotie without reference to, and without the approval of, the State Executive Committee (SEC), on whose behalf he claims to have submitted the disturbing and dishonorable petition dated 17/03/2025, demanding the removal of the National Publicity Secretary (NPS), Barr. Felix Morka, from office.

2. The petition is grossly misconceived, petty, reckless, and disclosed no reasonable or justifiable basis to call for the removal of the NPS from office. It shows that Sobotie lacks understanding of the limits of his authority as state chairman and the requisite constitutional process for the discipline of officers of the respective organs of the Party, particularly the National Working Committee (NWC).

3. Sobotie's petition contains two allegations against the NPS:

a. Firstly, it claims that the NPS issued a press statement clarifying that the NWC did not grant approval for the creation and inauguration of a Delta State APC Leadership Council, and did so without consultation with the NWC. The clarification offered by the NPS was necessitated by a claim contained in a press statement issued by the state publicity secretary, which declared that the NWC had granted approval for the creation and inauguration of the council. We fully support the position of the NWC that the council is not an organ created or recognized under the Party's constitution, and, in any event, was never discussed or approved by the SEC.

b. Secondly, Sobotie alleged that the NPS declared Senator Omo-Agege as the leader of the Party in a television interview. We have diligently searched for any television news reports where the alleged statement declaring Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as leader of the Party in Delta was made by the NPS.

4. We did not find any such television news report. The allegation is untenable, as it has no factual basis to begin with. We cannot but wonder why Sobotie is morbidly opposed to any reference to Senator Omo-Agege as leader of the Party. Senator Omo-Agege, the former Deputy President of the 9th Senate, as the Governorship candidate of the Party in the 2023 general election, led the Party to a record success, winning two Senatorial seats, a House of Representatives seat, and seven House of Assembly seats. Clearly, Sobotie is committed to serving interests different from the interest of our Party.

5. It is disheartening that Sobotie would seek to smear Barr. Morka, a fine and highly distinguished Deltan who is serving the nation so admirably, with these contrived and baseless allegations. As the state chapter, we take immense pride in his accomplishments and unreservedly support his continued service as NPS.

6. We categorically condemn and dissociate ourselves from the petition. The allegations are baseless and constitute a blatant attempt to silence a courageous voice in defense of the Party and President Bola Tinubu's administration. We fear that Sobotie has been commissioned by external political interests to undermine the effectiveness of the office of NPS.

7. We wish to express full faith and confidence in Barr. Morka's leadership, service, and impeccable commitment to our party's ideals. Morka has acted and continues to act with extreme decorum and professionalism in the discharge of the functions of his office.

8. We urge the NWC to discountenance the petition as frivolous and reckless and dismiss it in its entirety. Sobotie's actions are a clear violation of Section 21.2v of the party's constitution, which explicitly prohibits members from providing false information to any party organ and engaging in unauthorized publicity of party disputes without exhausting all internal avenues for settlement or redress. This blatant disregard for party procedures and protocols is unacceptable and warrants immediate suspension.

9. By releasing the petition to the public, Sobotie has not only violated the constitution but also undermined the party's internal dispute resolution mechanisms. This behavior is unbecoming of a party leader and demonstrates a lack of commitment to upholding the party's principles and procedures. We urge the party leadership to take immediate action to address this violation and ensure that Sobotie is held accountable for his actions.

10. We would also like to use this medium to bring to the attention of the NWC that Sobotie's leadership as state chairman has been an unmitigated disaster. He has consistently proved incapable of discharging the functions of his office. He has been absent without explanation for prolonged periods, foisting a vacuum of leadership that has enabled impostors and unauthorized elements to undermine the party's institutional integrity and effective functioning.

11. Since his emergence as chairman, Sobotie has failed to convene any meetings of the SEC and failed to convene regular meetings of the SWC. Sobotie has continued to operate in a dictatorial fashion, unilaterally usurping the authority of the SEC and SWC without restraint. He has also perfected the use of proxies in a clear abdication of responsibility and betrayal of trust.

12. We unequivocally condemn Elder Sobotie's cozy relationship with the Delta State government, controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This illicit association has severely undermined our party's integrity, exposing us to political manipulation and sabotage. Furthermore, we have strong reason to believe that Sobotie has been commissioned and is subsequently compromised by his financial ties to the Delta State government, a glaring conflict of interest that erodes trust in his leadership and loyalty to our party.

13. We had thought it best to wait until the next congress to address the threat that Sobotie represents. However, the damage that his continued stay in office is inflicting on the party is incalculable and may become irremediable if nothing is done to constrain Sobotie's nefarious activities and damaging inactions.

14. We have completely lost confidence in Sobotie's leadership as state chairman, as he continues to act with impunity in blatant disregard of the party's constitution. We strongly urge the National Working Committee (NWC) to take immediate disciplinary action by suspending Sobotie from his position as state chairman. This decisive measure is crucial to prevent further damage to the party's reputation and integrity.

15. By suspending Sobotie, the NWC can help mitigate the harm caused, restore the party's vitality, integrity, and direction in the state, and ensure the APC Delta State chapter remains united and focused on its objectives. We respectfully request the NWC to exercise its authority and take prompt action to address this situation.

16. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Signed on behalf of the undernamed majority members of the State Executive Committee (SEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State Chapter:

*FLASHBACK: How Tinubu rejected State of Emergency Declared by Jonathan*

By Taiwo George
Wed, 19 Mar 2025

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu declared State of Emergency in Rivers amid protracted political crisis.

In the nationwide broadcast in which he made the declaration, Tinubu said, “No good and responsible President will standby and allow the grave situation to continue without taking remedial steps prescribed by the Constitution to address the situation in the state”.

He said all the measures previously taken to restore peace were frustrated by the parties involved in the crisis, adding that extraordinary measures needed to be taken to restore good governance, peace, order and security.

Since the return of democracy to Nigeria in 1999, Tinubu is the third president to invoke Section 305 of the Constitution. Ex-President Olusegun did twice – in Plateau (2004) and Ekiti (2006) – during his eight year-rule.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan toed this path in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno States during the peak of insurgency in 2013.

But the incumbent president who was then National Leader of defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) rejected the action which he had described as “a dangerous trend in the art of governance.”

Criticising Jonathan, Tinubu had said the move had political undertone.

https://www.tiktok.com/video/7483223635608587525/

“The body language of the Jonathan administration leads any keen watcher of events with unmistakable conclusion of the existence of a surreptitious but barely disguised intention to muzzle the elected governments of these states for what is clearly a display of unpardonable mediocrity and diabolic partisanship geared towards 2015. Borno and Yobe states have been literally under armies of occupation with the attendant excruciating hardship experienced daily by the indigenes and residents of these areas. This government now wants to use the excuse of the security challenges faced by the Governors to remove them from the states considered hostile to the 2015 PDP/Jonathan project.

Tinubu had warned that the administration will be setting in motion a chain of events, the end of which, nobody can predict, as experience has shown that actions, such as this one under consideration, often give root to radical ideologies and extremist tendencies, a direct opposite of the intended outcome of unwarranted and unintelligent meddlesomeness.

“The present scenario playing out in the country reminds one of the classical cases of a mediocre craftsman who continually blames the tools of his trade for his serial failure but refuses to look at his pitiable state with a view to adjusting,” he said.

“It has become crystal clear, even to the most incurable optimist, that the country is adrift. That the ship of the Nigerian state is rudderless is clearly evident in the consistent and continual attacks ferociously executed by elements often referred to as the insurgents in some northern states of the federation, particularly Borno and Yobe states respectively. Indeed, no part of the country is immune from the virulent but easy attacks, veritable indices of a failing state. No Governor of a state in Nigeria is indeed the Chief Security Officer. Putting the blame on the Governors, who have been effectively emasculated, for the abysmal performance of the government at the centre which controls all these security agencies, smacks of ignorance and mischief.”

“This Government, through acts of omission and commission, has fallen far short of expectation. It actively encourages schisms and all manner of divisive tendencies for parochial expediency. Ethnicity and religion become handy weapons of domination. Things have never been this bad.”

He had said it was evident from the grim experiences in recent times that the Jonathan government had failed, or did not know that it is necessary for it to avail itself of the benefits accruable from exchange of ideas and notes on the latest in terms of technology and human resources among nations of the modern world.

Tinubu opined that the massacres of local communities by unknown elements will further alienate the people who should, ordinarily, partner with the government in securing their immediate environments.

“The President’s pronouncement, which seeks to abridge or has the potential of totally scuttling the constitutional functions of Governors and other elected representatives of the people, will be counterproductive in the long run. A State of Emergency already exists in the states where JTF operates. Residents of these communities live in constant fear. Their rights are violated with impunity under the guise of searching for terrorists in their respective domains.”

“It is a potentially a destructive path to take. If security of a society is about the protection of lives and property of the citizenry, the involvement of the people is a sine qua non to effective intelligence gathering. Any measures put in place which alienate the people, in particular their elected representatives, should be considered as fundamentally defective by every right thinking person in the country,” the statement added.

PoliticsAPC To Mallam Nasir El-Rufai - Quit Sulking, Get A Grip by okrote4real(op): 4:42pm On Mar 17, 2025
In his frenzied attempt to justify his rather implausible exit from the All Progressives Party (APC), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State, in an interview with BBC Hausa, opined that APC has deviated from the progressive ideals of its founders, and turned into a party where "everyone is now pursuing personal interests .…”

In a once viral video, El-Rufai did not hold back when he deprecated politicians he argued were consumed by pursuit of self interest. In his words, “we have politics of private interest. We have no politics of public interest. Politicians will proudly tell you that politics is about interest. If they don’t get what they want, they are ready to collapse the system.”

Today, El-Rufai stands diminished as the epitome of a self-interested politician, blinded by ego, driven by untamed emotion, and brimming with a vengeful desire to “collapse the system.”

In his BBC interview under reference, El-Rufai supplied the real reason for his soreness, stating that he was disappointed by the way he was treated by President Bola Tinubu and his administration, in ostensible reference to his failed ministerial bid. His claim that he exited because the Party had deviated from its founding values or progressive ideology is a smokescreen to weaponize personal grievance garbed as principled dissent. El-Rufai’s appears traumatized by his failure to land a ministerial position. Nursing a bruised ego, he now lashes out at the platform on which he rode to political prominence.

APC’s commitment to its founding values and ideals remain as valid and progressive today as they were then. El-Rufai’s allegation of a drift from our Party’s founding values exists only in his foggy imagination. Assuming that matters of political conviction had anything to do with his exit, exactly how is the Social Democratic Party (SDP), El-Rufai’s new political abode, an ideological safe haven?

El-Rufai’s call for opposition members to join him under SDP banner is nothing short of an invitation to drink from a chalice poisoned by selfishness, vengefulness and delusion of grandeur. Nigerians are far more savvy than El-Rufai thinks, and they know that he is driven by raw self-interest rather than a genuine concern for the country.

Our great Party is unfazed by El-Rufai’s grudge-laden tirade. We continue to welcome millions of new members across the country, who are joining to identify with the Party’s lofty values and support President Tinubu’s bold and transformative policies now birthing sustainable growth and prosperity for our country.

El-Rufai’s claim that Tinubu has failed is as outrageous as it is bogus, and a gross distortion of the reality on the ground. Across all sectors, Nigerians are witnessing tangible progress in the delivery of the President’s campaign promises. Indisputably, Nigeria is better off today than when he took office.

President Tinubu has demonstrated an ironclad commitment to good governance and launched unprecedented policy reforms to address the country's generational challenges. The removal of fuel subsidy now saves Nigeria an estimated ₦4 trillion annually. The unification of exchange rates has resulted in higher foreign exchange inflow, while the country’s foreign reserves have showed resilient growth despite global economic pressures. President Tinubu's economic diplomacy has attracted significant foreign direct investment, and reforms in customs and taxation have led to a massive increase in non-oil revenues, while sustained reform in oil and gas sector has led to an historic boost in the country’s oil export, now upwards of 1.8 million barrels per day.

The President’s strong political will to re-imagine and revitalize Nigeria’s economy is paying off with significant improvement in the country's GDP growth rate now surging to 3.8% year-on-year in Q4 2024, up from 3.46% in the previous quarter, marking the highest growth rate posted since Q4 2021. This is a direct outcome of the administration's prudent economic policies and providing a favorable business environment that is widely applauded by the international financial and investment community.

Further, Nigeria's balance of payment has seen remarkable improvement, with a substantial trade surplus of $14.31 billion in 2024. This is a result of the administration's vigorous promotion of non-oil exports, reduced reliance on imported goods, and diversification of the country's economy.

This impressive performance precedes an impending data overhaul which may reveal an economy larger than initially estimated. Prospects for further growth is assuredly bright, with real GDP projected to increase from 3.0% in 2024 to 3.6% in 2025, according to Afreximbank Trade Intelligence Solutions.

In addition, under President Tinubu’s steady leadership, state and local governments now receive vastly higher allocations from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC), enabling them to extend development to their people. This increased funding has become a potential game-changer for grassroots development, making it possible for the execution of critical projects and provision of essential services to all Nigerians.

Nigerians are in no doubt about President Tinubu’s uncompromising commitment to economic reform, good governance, and improving the welfare of Nigerians. Rather than engaging in scurrilous propaganda and deliberate misinformation, El-Rufai should offer constructive criticism or alternative policies as expected of serious minded political opposition. His misleading rhetoric and personal attacks on the President are reprehensible and calculated to undermine the country's progress.

El-Rufai is free to choose his political affiliation as he has done. He should quit sulking, get a grip and salvage some respectability.

FG Moves to Accelerate SDG Implementation: Stakeholders Urged to Step Up Efforts

As Nigeria continues regional consultations for the 2025 Voluntary National Review (VNR), the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs (SSAP-SDGs), Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, OFR, has called on stakeholders to intensify their efforts toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Delivering a keynote address on her behalf at the North-East Regional Consultation in Gombe, Dr. Bala Yunusa, mni, Senior Technical Adviser, emphasized the importance of the VNR process in tracking Nigeria’s progress on the SDGs. The forum, established by world leaders under the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), plays a crucial role in reviewing global SDG implementation. Nigeria is currently undergoing its third VNR, engaging stakeholders across the six geopolitical zones to assess progress, challenges, and opportunities.

In a statement by her Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communication, Desmond Utomwen, the SSAP-SDGs highlighted the urgent need to accelerate SDG progress. She referenced the 2024 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Report, noting that only 17% of SDG targets are on track globally, while nearly half show minimal or moderate progress, and over a third have stalled or regressed. She pointed out that Nigeria, like many other nations, faces challenges such as dwindling financial resources, the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, and persistent insecurity, all of which have slowed SDG implementation.

Princess Orelope-Adefulire stressed that achieving the SDGs requires integration into national and sub-national policies rather than isolated efforts. She underscored the importance of robust Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) systems, such as SDG Progress Reports and the VNR, to track progress effectively. She also called for stronger collaboration among government agencies, the private sector, the UN Development System, donors, academia, and civil society to ensure inclusive and sustainable development.

Referencing the “Pact for the Future,” adopted at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September, she reaffirmed global commitments to bold, accelerated, and transformative actions to fast-track SDG achievement. She also cited UN Secretary-General António Guterres' call for massive investments and effective partnerships to drive progress across key sectors such as food, energy, and digital connectivity.

Commending the efforts of the Multi-Stakeholder Core Working Group for Nigeria’s 2025 VNR, Princess Orelope-Adefulire acknowledged the contributions of representatives from government agencies, the UN Development System, the private sector, civil society, and academia.

In a presentation on SDG Implementation in Nigeria and the 2025 VNR Process, Dr. Yunusa highlighted findings from the 2024 UN DESA Report, which warned that if current trends persist, 590 million people worldwide may still live in extreme poverty by 2030. The report further indicated that unless substantial progress is made, fewer than 30% of countries will halve national poverty levels, while nearly 10% of the global population will face hunger, with 2.4 billion people experiencing moderate to severe food insecurity.

As part of the VNR consultative process, approximately 150 participants from the North-East region were briefed on SDG implementation frameworks, progress across the 17 SDGs, challenges, and lessons learned. They also developed context-specific recommendations and strategies to fast-track progress before 2030. Attendees included representatives from government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), the private sector, civil society, academia, youth groups, and persons with disabilities.

In his welcome address, Engr. Sulaiman Turaki, Focal Person of the SDGs Project Support Unit in Gombe State, described the Regional Consultation as a crucial platform for shaping Nigeria’s next VNR. He emphasized the importance of accurately capturing the country’s progress, challenges, and opportunities to ensure an inclusive development agenda.

"This gathering reflects our collective commitment to advancing sustainable, inclusive, and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda," he stated. Calling on stakeholders to actively engage, he urged them to share insights and propose innovative policies to accelerate SDG implementation in the North-East Zone. "Let us seize this opportunity to drive meaningful change and foster sustainable development across our region," he concluded.

Onitsha-based trader had been hospitalised following the reported looting of her medicine store by officials of the National Agency for Foods and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

The looting as contained in a viral footage, has attracted wild condemnation.

Consequently, a lawyer and human rights activist, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has demanded an investigation by security into the act perpetrated by NAFDAC officials.

As at the time of this report, NAFDAC is said to be preparing its response to the allegation.

While describing the heart-wrenching testimony of the devastated trader as both troubling and unacceptable, he said the woman is currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital after suffering severe shock from the traumatic incident.

Ejiofor, also a lawyer to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in a statement said it is not just an economic assault but a direct attack on her dignity and well-being.

https://youtube.com/shorts/RHmCVqIktLg?feature=shared

He said, "I am deeply saddened by the viral video showing a female trader alleging that her shop was looted by officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). This alarming footage exposes a grave injustice that demands urgent action.

"Recently, I strongly condemned the indiscriminate closure of shops under the guise of combating counterfeit drugs. While the fight against fake pharmaceuticals is crucial, it must be carried out through lawful and ethical means that do not jeopardize the livelihoods of innocent traders. Unfortunately, our worst fears have now materialized.

"In my previous public statement, I urged security agencies and NAFDAC to investigate their personnel implicated in these allegations. However, despite the gravity of the situation, no action has been taken.

"This latest evidence - captured on video - clearly exposes officials entrusted with regulatory enforcement, allegedly engaging in outright looting, betraying public trust.

"The heart-wrenching testimony of this devastated trader is both troubling and unacceptable. Disturbingly, information available to us confirms that this innocent woman is currently receiving medical care at an undisclosed hospital after suffering severe shock from this traumatic incident. This is not just an economic assault but a direct attack on her dignity and well-being.

'I, therefore, call upon the relevant security agencies to conduct a swift, transparent, and comprehensive investigation to identify and hold accountable those responsible for this reprehensible act.

"NAFDAC must urgently assess and provide commensurate reparations for this devastating loss, ensuring that justice is not only served but also felt by the victims. Justice delayed is justice denied. Immediate disciplinary and legal measures must be enforced to restore public confidence in our institutions.

"Such misconduct has no place in a society striving for justice, peace, and economic stability. The livelihoods of hardworking citizens must be protected, and those who abuse their positions of trust must face the full weight of the law. If we fail to act decisively, we risk enabling a culture of impunity that will only deepen public distrust in our institutions."

Nairaland GeneralMercy Chinwo: Court Orders Arrest Of Verydarkman For Defamation by okrote4real(op): 2:12pm On Mar 13, 2025
BY ANTHONY ADA ABRAHAM

The Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of blogger, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), for “criminal defamation” of a Gospel Artist, Mercy Chinwo.

The magistrate ordered the Nigeria Police Force, together with other law enforcement agencies, to arrest VeryDarkMan and produce him to court to answer to the criminal allegations levelled against him.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96C5gqZDtpg?feature=shared

Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna issued the bench warrant on Thursday, March 13, 2025 when VeryDarkMan failed to appear before the magistrate followed a court summons on March 5, 2025 for him to do so.

Although lawyer to VeryDarkMan, Deji Adeyanju, appealed to the Magistrate to rethink the bench warrant and that he would personally produce his client in court, the Magistrate rejected the appeal and insisted that VeryDarkMan be produced in court by security agencies.

The bench warrant stemmed from alleged defamatory statements made by VDM on social media, accusing Chinwo of involvement in a contractual dispute and the purported diversion of $345,000 linked to her former record label boss, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, also known as Eezee Tee.

In support of her claims, Chinwo furnished the court with documentary evidence, including emails and payment receipts, to substantiate that VDM’s allegations were not only entirely false but damning and injurious to her public image and reputation.

The complainant's lawyers led by Pelumi Olajengbesi of Abuja-based law firm, Law Corridor, Chinwo said the alleged actions of the defendant are contrary to Sections 391 of the Penal Code and Section 24 (1)(B) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act 2015.

Chinwo's counsel had also dragged VDM before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, seeking N1.1bn damages against the blogger.

The lawyer sought an order compelling VDM to delete, retract, and issue a public apology for all allegedly false and defamatory statements made against Chinwo and her brand.

100 Women Groups Tender Apology to Senate, Akpabio Over Natasha's Unfounded Allegations

The Nigerian Women Crusade for Good Governance (NWCGG), representing 100 women groups, has tendered an unreserved apology to the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Nigerian Senate over the unfounded allegations made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The apology was made during a press conference held in Abuja on March 11, 2025.

Speaking on behalf of the groups, Dr. Mrs Cecilia Ikechukwu condemned Senator Akpoti's behaviour, describing it as "disruptive, crude, and distasteful."

According to her, Senator Akpoti's actions have brought embarrassment to Nigerian women and undermined the efforts of female politicians who have worked hard to gain the trust and respect of Nigerians.

The group attributed Senator Akpoti's behavior to her poor upbringing and lack of character, citing her history of blackmailing men in power. They also accused her of using false allegations to gain political relevance.

The Nigerian Women Crusade for Good Governance praised Senate President Akpabio for his commitment to good governance and his support for women's inclusion in politics. They apologized to Nigerians for Senator Akpoti's behavior, promising to continue advocating for women's leadership and good governance.

The group urged Senator Akpoti to use her six-month suspension to reflect on her actions, seek therapy, and study the Senate rules to gain a better understanding of the legislative process.

The statement added: "We strongly urge Senator Natasha to use this time to seek professional therapy. It is evident that she is struggling with deep-seated issues that need to be addressed if she is to function properly in any leadership capacity.

"Furthermore, she must take this opportunity to read and understand the Senate rules, so that upon her return, she can comport herself with the dignity and respect befitting of her office.

"Evidently, Natasha Akpoti has not only disgraced herself but has set back the cause of women in politics by reinforcing negative stereotypes about female leaders.

"However, her actions must not define us. We must continue to prove that women in governance are capable, respectable, and deserving of leadership positions. It is our hope that she will use this period of suspension to rebuild her character and emerge as a more responsible and respectful leader.

"Nevertheless, we also emphasize that this incident must not be allowed to overshadow the progress that many great women have made in Nigerian politics.

"There are countless women who have served with distinction and have never stopped inspiring future generations. Women in public offices must understand that the position comes with a duty to inspire and not to embarrass. We must not allow the actions of one individual to define the collective achievements of women in leadership.

" Finally, we call on all Nigerians to remain steadfast in their support for good governance and to hold their leaders accountable for their actions. May this unfortunate episode serve as a lesson on the importance of character, maturity, and responsible leadership. Together, we can build a nation that values integrity, respect, and equality for all."

PoliticsPolice Display Of Graphic Images Of David Parradang - Plateau Lawyers React by okrote4real(op): 7:20am On Mar 10, 2025
The Plateau Lawyers Bar Forum (PLBF) has strongly criticized the Nigerian Police Force for publicly releasing graphic images of the late David Parradang, former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS). His remains were reportedly discovered in an unnamed hotel in Abuja under controversial circumstances.

During a press conference held in Jos over the weekend, the PLBF condemned the circulation of distressing images and detailed information about the deceased, calling it a gross violation of privacy and human dignity.

Parradang was alleged to have passed away while in a closed-door meeting with an unidentified woman. However, the police’s handling of the situation has drawn widespread backlash, particularly after the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command issued a press statement on March 4, 2025, that included explicit photographs and speculative details regarding his death.

“The public disclosure of such graphic images during an active investigation not only erodes public trust in law enforcement but also compromises the integrity of the inquiry,” the Forum stated.

The lawyers further argued that the portrayal of Parradang in an undignified manner was deeply insensitive to his grieving family. They stressed that releasing unverified information about the circumstances of his death only fueled unnecessary speculation and tarnished the reputation of a man who had served the nation with distinction.

The PLBF also criticized the silence of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) on the matter, urging the agency to uphold the legacy of its former leaders by issuing an official statement in his honor, as is customary in other security and military institutions.

Parradang’s remains have since been deposited at the National Hospital in Abuja.

Nairaland GeneralThe Many Controversies Surrounding Nigeria’s Gospel Music Industry by okrote4real(op): 5:44pm On Mar 08, 2025
BY ANTHONY ADA ABRAHAM
For centuries, gospel musicians have been regarded as the voice of the church, spreading messages of faith, hope, and salvation through their music. However, in recent times, the credibility of many gospel artists has come under scrutiny, leading to a wave of controversies that have shaken the industry to its core.

One of the most talked-about issues in recent times is the legal dispute involving renowned gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her former record label owner, Eze Tee. This case, which has been widely publicized and fueled by social media commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM), has drawn significant attention. VDM's criticism of Mercy Chinwo has further tarnished the industry's image, while the singer, in response, has taken legal action against him, demanding compensation worth billions of Naira.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96C5gqZDtpg?feature=shared

Adding to the growing tension, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has publicly distanced himself from certain gospel artists whom he claims are more interested in financial gain than in winning souls for Christ. According to him, despite his efforts to guide them towards a deeper spiritual commitment, many have been driven by their love for money rather than their dedication to the gospel.

This ongoing saga has led many to question the true purpose of gospel music in Nigeria. Some argue that the industry has lost its sacred essence, with many artists using the church as a platform for personal enrichment rather than genuine worship. This perception has, in turn, contributed to the growing preference for secular artists over gospel musicians, as the former are often seen as more transparent about their intentions.

Gospel music should not be a playground for greed and conflicts. It should remain a sacred tool for worship and inspiration. As the controversy unfolds, it is imperative for Mercy Chinwo and her former label to seek an amicable resolution in the spirit of Christian unity. Moving forward with grace and peace would not only restore her personal tranquility but also uphold the integrity of gospel music in Nigeria.

The full details of these controversies are explored further in the accompanying video. Let us remember that the church should not be a marketplace for personal gain but a sanctuary for genuine worship and devotion to God.

PoliticsBetrayed And Silenced: The Unfair Trial Of Women In Power by okrote4real(op):
"Betrayed and Silenced: The Unfair Trial of Women in Power"

BY ANTHONY ADA ABRAHAM

All the so-called social media feminists were silent when Natasha faced this humiliation. Back in 2019, when she ran for governorship, she was booed and called derogatory names simply because she was a woman daring to enter politics.

The same women were used to insult and discredit her then, and the same thing has happened again. Women are often the easiest tools used to tear down other women instead of supporting one another. I feel for her, especially as a father of a daughter who I know will go far in life and may one day aspire to a high position in government. I would never want her to endure such treatment just because of her gender.

It pains me that men could sit back and humiliate their colleague without even conducting a proper investigation.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVB7vtkkV4o?feature=shared

It’s even more painful that the accused sat and chaired the "Last Supper" meeting, as if nothing had happened. This is the reality of our country—where people can be bought so easily when money is involved.

It's high time influential personalities hire professional PR experts to manage their image because, in this society, the innocent are becoming the victims, while the guilty walk free.

It's now obvious.
