Former Anambra state governor, Peter Obi, has expressed fears that Nigeria may soon collapse if the Federal government does not take stringent measure to tackle corruption in the economy.

Obi expressed his fears when he spoke at the Federal University, Ndufu Alike Ikwo (FUNAI) during the grand-finale and presentation of awards to winners of a creative writing competition yesterday June 6th.

“Nigeria may collapse Our leaders are doing things wrong, we should not follow them to celebrate what is wrong. What we have in Nigeria is that we are celebrating what is wrong.

And I am of the opinion that we should stop celebrating what is wrong and start doing things right so that this country can grow. People are hungry and we should join hands together to question our leaders to tell us what is happening in this country and making sure that the right thing are done.

A suspected member of the notorious Badoo member was caught and lynched around Olomomeje Mosque in Aga, (Oni Ogunsanya Street) Ikorodu. The suspect was caught this morning then taken to the Onyabo office where he was interrogated by Onyabo - a vigilante group in Ikorodu - at their office.

According to the story shared by Ikorodu Ambassadors Group on Facebook, the angry mob insisted on serving justice themselves and prevented the authorities from taking the suspect away. This led to warning shots being fired to disperse the crowd but bullets ended up hitting two people from the crowd. The mob eventually had their way and beat the suspect until he died, then they burnt his remains

Many passengers were left stranded after a bridge that links passengers from Niger state to Lagos state collapsed after a heavy downpour. The collapsed portion of the bridge is at Gidan Mai Village, along Mokwa-Makera highway in Niger state.

15-year-old Alex Pititto is facing life in jail for shooting to death his best friend in Italy. Alex (pictured left ) fatally shot 19-year-old Francesco Prestia (pictured right) because he liked a photo of his girlfriend on Facebook, this, he interpreted as a sign of disrespect.

Alex is the son of 'Ndrangheta mafia boss Salvatore Pititto, known as 'El Tio', or the Uncle. He had long suspected his friend of having feelings for his girlfriend so when he saw the Facebook like, he called his friend to a meeting in a remote field and gunned him down. Francesco was left dead in an olive field in Mileto, Italy, with three bullets in his chest.

The management of Continental Broadcasting Service, owners of Television Continental, TVC, yesterday sacked 145 members of its staff. TVC is owned by National Leader of APC, Bola Tinubu.

Among the reason for the mass sack is over bloated workforce and high over head cost.

A physician, Prof. Christy Okoromah, has warned Nigerians against self medication as some of the elements included in drug products can endanger the heart because of self medication. Okoromah, who is the Head of Paediatric Cardiology and Infectious Disease unit University of Lagos stated this in Lagos in furtherance of the World Hypertension Day. According to her, a lot of the drugs Nigerians buy over the counter and practice self medication and consume, have the predisposition to cause persistent hypertension.

There are many drugs Nigerians and the general public just buy over the counter and consume without realising that it can cause persistent hypertension. (Take thing) self medication like acetaminophen which is contained in panadol paracetamol (for example). Drugs must not be taken carelessly because of its dangers to health people buy steroids, they give to asthmatics; it can also cause hypertension. Ibuprofen oral contraceptives that contain estrogen and progesterone can also cause hypertension.

I want to emphasise children who take self medication they can also have hypertension but unfortunately we are not looking out for that Many people wonder what children have to do with hypertension, We are not looking out for it even in hospitals we are not doing it properly, these are some of the things that we need to change ,Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) is a common condition in which the long term force of the blood against a person’s artery walls is high enough that it may eventually cause health problems such as heart disease and there is many ways to cure hypertension.

Over 10 persons were feared killed. and several others injured. When Naval personnel and police men clashed in Calabar. Cross River State Akim police Station. Opposite a military Barracks.
A policeman, who escaped death by the whiskers. told Daily Sun that the station, including the armoury was completely razed.

He said trouble started yesterday afternoon. when a police traffic warden stopped a Naval officer who got angry. and ordered his boy to beat him.

He said: “As the Naval personal were battering the traffic officer. a deputy Superintendent of Police. who was passing by tried to settle the dispute. but the naval personnel descended on him as well.
