Politics / Re: Tinubu Appoints New Bank Of Industry Chief Executive Officer by Okwyjesus(m): 8:32pm On Nov 21, 2023
Adeboye80:
President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Olasupo Olusi to serve as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Industry (BOI) for a term of four (4) years in the first instance.

The President's approval of Dr. Olusi's appointment follows the voluntary resignation of former BOI Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Olukayode Pitan.

Dr. Olasupo Olusi has served as a World Bank economist and development finance expert over the past 20 years. Between 2011 and 2015, Dr. Olusi served as the economic adviser to then Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance. He is an alumnus of Hull University, United Kingdom. He also obtained a Masters degree in International Money, Finance, and Investment, as well as a Doctorate in Finance & Economics from Durham University, United Kingdom, in 2005.

The President tasks the new BOI Chief Executive to ensure that Nigerians, who are operating all sizes of enterprises across sectors, are given fair and equitable access to much needed support in order to bolster employment generation and wealth creation amongst income groups in the country with special regard for lower and middle income enterprise operators.

I was expecting Yoruba name honestly and Tinubu didn't disappoint me.

That office is very sensitive to achieving any serious president's mandate and going to a trusted one is not a sin

Politics / Re: Decline Of Northern Nigeria & Why Tinubu Is Going For The Jugular by Okwyjesus(m): 2:38pm On Nov 20, 2023
Sadwaste:

You're giving North too much power they no longer possess. You think if it was in the past, they won't have forced Tinubu to remove Wike since?

You think if it was in the past, you wouldn't have started hearing rumors of coup or impeachment? Even religious crises?

Those were factors muslim North used to intimidate Southern leaders but they can't work now.

They're currently so bitter with Tinubu but they sulk it up in their closets. The occasional rants here and there are the few outbursts from their bottled up frustration.

North has collapsed, without those factors I mentioned above, they're finished. Tinubu knows this and he isn't even pretending. Their future is very bleak and the worst mistake they made was to support Buhari's impunity. Now, they have nothing to leverage on. They've become a huge deadweight on Nigeria and the rest of the country that is SS, SE, SW and MB knows already and are getting fed up with them. When you're in such unenviable position, you have nothing to fall back on.

You're right bro. Nigeria is too intelligent, rich and endowed to roam in failure and backwardness....

.....Just bcs a particular region want it all.

May God help Tinubu!

Tinubu is breaking their stronghold very hard and they knew. The north prefer president they can bully like Jonathan but definitely not Tinubu.

Politics is all about interest not emotions and other considerations.
If north comes up and offer a good deal to SE why should we reject it?

I think north is using SE brain, they may offer VP as usual. For me its presidential slot or nothing even if it's 4 yrs deal before power goes north.

Else Tinubu should gladly continue.

Politics / Re: Decline Of Northern Nigeria & Why Tinubu Is Going For The Jugular by Okwyjesus(m): 9:02pm On Nov 19, 2023
Sadwaste:
Northern Nigeria has been on a steady and fast decline both economically, politically and socially. The extent of its deterioration is so bad that it's happening within a generation.

Here are some examples of how the North has collapsed:

1. From the 1970's and up till late 1990's, Kano and Kaduna used to be the most industrialized states in Nigeria after Lagos. The textile factories, refineries, vehicle production, consumer goods, and agro processing etc have all closed down. Today, several Southern states have overtaken them. They include Ogun, Anambra, Oyo, Rivers and Abia states are now ahead of all Northern states in terms of industrial output.

2. There is nothing like One-North anymore. The middle belt states, particularly those with significant Christian population are no longer aligned with the North politically. They now either stand alone as Middle Belt or try to align with South.

3. North used to be famous for its vast agricultural output. The era of groundnut pyramids, cotton, hides and skin, as well as numerous cash and food crops is now gone. Sociopolitical upheavals and collosal insecurity has laid waste to it all. Many people are not even aware that some of the livestock and agricultural produce arriving in the South today are actually coming from other countries such as Chad, Niger and Burkina Faso.

4. Before, whenever North coughs, the entire country will catch cold. But not anymore, today, if they try to cough, others in the South will bang at the table for them to keep quiet. If they threaten violence, others in the South will threaten them with severe mutually assured destruction. Now, they can't threaten with military intervention/coup. They can't threaten with religious riots. The only method they're using now is fulani herdsmen but they too are receiving heavy push back in the South.

Tinubu understands this situation North has found itself, and that's why he is going all out against them without minding their feelings. Tinubu wouldn't have dared what he is doing to the North today, if it were still North of the 1970's to late 1990's. He wouldn't have dared install Wike as FCT minister. Neither would he have replaced Fulanis in strategic positions with Yorubas. At the same time, fuel is today far more expensive in the North than Lagos and most Southern states. He quickly humiliated and silwnced El Rufai before sending him on exile. Insults Buhari anyhow and is waiting to rubbish Atiku and Kwankwaso if they step out of line. Tinubu is Machiavellian, he is now using divide and conquer against the North by pitting them against MB and also against SS. Tinubu knows that Northern muslims are so unhappy that Wike is the FCT minister but he doesn't care. If they threaten Wike, militants and pressure groups in the SS will draw the battle line with muslim North. So, without having the middle belt on its side nor SS and Igbos, the core North has become isolated and Tinubu is now rallying Yorubas to go for their jugular.

Tinubu need to tamm north excesses if Nigeria must move forward.

North should forget any alliance SE in 2027. We won't fall this time around.

Family / Re: My Sister Abroad Doesn't Reply My Messages Anymore. by Okwyjesus(m): 4:58pm On Nov 18, 2023
Cooolme:
I have a stepsister living abroad, the daughter of my mom. She's been there since childhood, raised by her father, and has become independent.

Despite the physical distance, she has been supportive, particularly to my mom. Although she occasionally sends money to my mom, it's never quite enough for her.

I share a unique bond with her; we've always been close, even during her visit. The last time she sent me money was during my 100 level when things were tough. However, my focus shifted from financial help to maintaining a connection with her.

Recently, I noticed a change. Since July, she has been snubbing my messages, a puzzling behavior considering I don't seek financial assistance. I've made it a point to check on her regularly, something she mentioned our mom doesn't do. At my level now if she needs money I can even send for her but her recent attitude has totally changed my mind towards her. I'm contemplating blocking her and ending contact, as it seems that's what she wants.

It's a challenging situation, and I'm curious if anyone here has experienced anything similar.

You guys may be burden to her. Rest and give her break
