Lawan had worked in the Yobe state civil service as an Education Officer in the Ministry of Education from 1985 to 1986. He then got a teaching job at the University of Maiduguri, where he lectured for 10 years from 1987 to 1997.

PoliticsDeputy Senate President: Election Begins As Ekweremadu Locks Horns With OmoAgege by olajay86(op): 1:20pm On Jun 11, 2019
The Senate has started to conduct election for the office of the Deputy Senate President between senators Ike Ekweremadu and Ovie Omo-Agege.

The duo, however, belong to the ruling and main opposition political parties in the upper chamber.

Accepting his nomination, Ekweremadu reminded his colleagues of the sad event when the hallowed chamber and, indeed, mace of the Senate was invaded and violated not quite long ago.

However, this insinuation cannot be unconnected with the allegation that Omo-Agege was behind the inglorious attack.

Both Ekweremadu and Omo-Agege represent Enugu West and Delta Central Senatorial districts respectively.

The outcome of the election may pull a shocker considering the fact that while Omo-Agege was the preferred candidate of the ruling APC, Ekweremadu is an outstanding lawmaker with many legislative experience from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

PoliticsEFCC Vs Fayose: What Happened In Court On Tuesday by olajay86(op): 11:25am On Jun 11, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/06/efcc-vs-fayose-what-happened-in-court.html

A Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed June 28 for re-arraignment of former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, facing charges of N6.9billion fraud.

Fayose was arraigned on Oct. 22. 2018, before Justice Mojisola Olatotegun, alongside a company, Spotless Investment Ltd, on 11 counts bordering on fraud and money laundering offences.

He is being posecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He had pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail on Oct. 24, 2018, in the sum of N50 million with sureties in like sum.

The prosecution had opened trial on Nov. 19, 2018, and had so far called 13 witnesses out of the 15 listed.

However, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Hon.Justice Adamu Abdu-kafarati had transferred the case from Olatoregun, to a new judge. Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, following a petition by the EFCC seeking a transfer of the case.

A new date of June 28 has now been fixed for re-arraignment of Fayose before Aneke, NAN reports.

The CJ’s letter of transfer had read as follows:

“I refer to the petition of EFCC on this case and your Lordship’s comments thereto.

“It is apparent that the prosecution has lost confidence in the judge trying this case and justice must not only be done but must be seen to have been done, I hereby transfer this case to Hon. Justice C. J. Aneke for hearing,”

Recall that on March 20, a drama had ensued in court midway into trial, between the trial judge, (Olatotegun) and EFCC counsel, Mr Rotimi Jacobs (SAN).

The judge had raised concerns on the manner of prosecution by counsel, and had noted that the prosecutor, was not doing a good job, adding that he was not competent to evaluate the court’s ruling.

On his part, the prosecutor (Jacobs) had expressed displeasure at the rebuke from the court, on the grounds that hr had always dispensed his duties diligently, and had never been so derogated by any court.

Meanwhile, during the last proceedings of May 10, a 13th prosecution witness, Mr Adewale Aladegbola, a former driver of a billion van, had given evidences which the prosecutor described as being contrary to his extra judicial statement to the commission.

Flowing from that premise, the prosecutor had then informed the court that his witness appeared “hostile” and had then urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him make necessary application on the situation.

But, before trial could resume before Olatotegun, the transfer of the case had already been communicated to the court.

During trial before Olatoregun. the prosecution had called witnesses, from Zenith Bank, Diamond Bank, as well as a former Minister of State for Defence , Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro.

According to the charge, on June 17, 2014, Fayose and Agbele were said to have taken possession of the sum of N1.2 billion, for purposes of funding his gubernatorial election campaign in Ekiti State, which sum they reasonably ought to have known formed part of crime proceeds.

Fayose was alleged to have received a cash payment of the sum of five million dollars, (about N1.8 billion) from the then Minister of State for Defence, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, without going through any financial institution and which sum exceeded the amount allowed by law.

He was also alleged to have retained the sum of N300 million in his bank account and took control of the aggregate sums of about N622 million which sum he ought to have known formed part of crime proceeds.

Fayose was alleged to have procured De Privateer Ltd and Still Earth Ltd, to retain in their bank accounts, the aggregate sums of N851 million which they reasonably ought to have known formed part of crime proceeds.

Besides, the accused was alleged to have used the aggregate sums of about N1.6 billion to acquire properties in Lagos and Abuja, which sums he reasonably ought to have known formed part of crime proceeds.

The accused was also alleged to have used the sum of N200 million, to acquire a property in Abuja, in the name of his elder sister Moji Oladeji, which sum he ought to know also forms crime proceeds.

The offence, the EFCC said contravened the provisions of sections 15(1), 15 (2), 15 (3), 16(2)(b), 16 (d), and 18 (c) of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act 2011.

Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, on Sunday night said he will not speak on the 2019 Ballon d’ Or, after his side defeated Netherlands 1-0 in the UEFA Nations League final.

PoliticsI Have Lost Weight Governing Lagos — Sanwo-olu by olajay86(op): 6:28pm On Jun 07, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/06/gov.html

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, says governing the state is not an easy task, as he has lost weight in just one week of assuming office.

NAN reports that Sanwo-Olu spoke with State House correspondents after a private meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, shortly after the expanded security council meeting on Friday, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to him, governing Lagos is not a tea party, as the experience and challenges are real.

“It is not a tea party; you don’t sleep and wake up and the traffic has gone down; you don’t sleep and wake up and there is no rain or say that you have resolved Apapa gridlock; it’s real.

“So, it is something that one has psychologically prepared for; the best thing you can do, is to make sure that you are not about looking for what the other person did.

“It is for Lagosians to see you do what you promised to do for them.

“And if you don’t do it from your office; you have to do it on the road; you have to do it where the issues are, so that people will truly know that you mean business.

“ In one week, I will say I have lost weight; I will probably still lose a bit more, but I think it is worth the job.

“ It is also important to ensure that you have the right team; people that will also support you; so, when as a leader you can show that leadership support, then the message itself trickles down and trickles very well,” he said.

He said that clearing of the Apapa gridlock was work in progress, as efforts were being made to solve the problem.

Sanwo-Olu said that the concern of his government was to ensure that, what was done concerning the gridlock was sustained as sustainability was critical.

He further said that his administration was engaging all the stakeholders in the conversation around port utility –Shippers’ Council, shipping lines and Nigerian Ports Authority(NPA) and others, in order to achieve a sustained resolution.

On security in Lagos State, the governor said it was something he attached much importance.

He said that security was everybody’s business but as a governor, he had a major responsibility of protecting lives and property of Lagosians.

“So, it is a work in progress and for me in particular, it is something that I take so seriously.

“We are not just mouthing it; we will ensure that we put resources and strategies that can help in place,

“We have been talking about domesticating; the security trust fund that we have done is part of the initiative

“We will continue to engage and identify what are the sources; what are the underlying issues that bring about insecurity.

“Are they economic or more than that? So, we can also attack the root cause.

“For us, as a government that is looking for investors. We certainly must continue to be in a position where we can give confidence to all our investors that Lagos State is a safe haven to come,’’ he said.

He said that the security council meeting was paramount and thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for convening it.

He adjourned the case till Thursday June 13th, expecting the NBC to come forward and show cause why the motion on notice challenging the licence withdrawal should not be granted.

PoliticsWhy I’ve Been Appointing Women To Head Nigeria’s Treasury Since 2015 – Buhari by olajay86(op): 10:52am On Jun 06, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/06/why-ive-been-appointing-women-to-head.html

President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed why he entrusted the nation’s Ministry of Finance into the hands of women since 2015 when his government came on board.

He explained that women have been in charge of the country’s treasury since he came to power due to his trust in them.

Speaking while receiving representatives of Nigerian women on a Sallah homage at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday, the President assured that he would give more recognition to women in his forthcoming cabinet.

He said: “I think the biggest trust any leader will entrust, whether in a household, a town or a country is to give the treasury to the women. Since I came women are in charge of the treasury.

“So, I don’t think it is the number that matters, the fundamental thing is who hold the bag. Look at the treasury and look at the civil service. Even with this, you are still asking for more. In the spirit of Oliver Twist, we will watch out the numbers.”

In her remark, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Administration, Dr. Hajo Sani, called on the President to consider more women in his new cabinet.

“We know you have us at the back of your heart and you know we have the women that are capable, women that have the potentials and women that will have value to your administration,” Sani said.

Titope Blog recalls that upon assumption of power in 2015, Buhari appointed Kemi Adeosun as Minister of Finance but she resigned her appointment on September 14, 2018, after she was accused of forging her National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, certificate.

Following her resignation, Zainab Ahmed, who was before then the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, was appointed by Buhari as Adeosun’s replacement.

The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) and the National Union Road Transport Workers (NURTW) have congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and Lagos State Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on their inauguration, assuring them of co-operation.

Alhaji Mohammed Musa, the Lagos State Chairman of RTEAN, and his NURTW counterpart, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede, gave the assurance in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.

The unionists said that the inauguration has provided more opportunities to take Lagos and Nigeria as a whole to the next level through purposeful leadership.

Musa said: ”We are happy as a union for President Muhammadu Buhari; his government has tried in providing good roads and other infrastructure.

“We want him to do more this second term; we will cooperate with him.

“RTEAN members nationwide are thanking God for the second term of President Muhammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and praying God to bless them with more wisdom to carry on successfully.”

The RTEAN boss, however, urged the Federal Government to fix more roads to ease transport and boost economic activities.

He added: “We welcome the new Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and we assure him of maximum support by our association.

Also speaking, Agbede prayed God to grant Buhari good health and guidance to successfully take Nigeria to the next level.

Agbede thanked Buhari for efforts in the transport sector and called for increased efforts to transform the sector and end carnage on highways.

He said: “The Federal Government should do better in this second term. We need more roads.”

Agbede urged Sanwo-Olu to carry the transport unions along in his decisions as regards transport.

“We are responsible and law-abiding. We are fully prepared to work with this new administration to actualise its goals, especially in the transport sector.

“We urge the state government to create an enabling environment for us to operate,” Agbede said.

The NURTW boss called on Lagos residents to cooperate with the new administration to enhance its success.

He also called on the residents to respect traffic laws to make the state better.

Christianity EtcMy Tenure Will Be Short – Pope Francis Insists by olajay86(op): 6:28pm On May 28, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/05/my-tenure-will-be-short-pope-francis.html

Pope Francis on Tuesday reiterated that his time at the helm of affairs in the Roman Catholic Church will be short.

“I still have the same feeling,’’ Francis said during an interview with veteran Vatican journalist, Valentina Alazraki, who, according to NAN, works for Mexican broadcaster Televisa.

She reminded the Pope that in a previous 2015 interview, Francis had said: “I have the feeling that my pontificate will be short. Four or five years, or maybe two or three.’’

In her latest conversation with the pontiff, Alazraki noted that “six years have already passed since Francis’ election in March 2013, which is not such a short time.”

Francis replied that he did not see his pontificate lasting as long as 20 years.

The 82-year-old pope had said in the past that the decision by his predecessor, Benedict XVI, to quit due to the strains of old age “opened a door’’ to future papal resignations.

In 2014, returning from a trip to South Korea, Francis also hinted at his possible death: “I know this will last a short time, two or three years, and then to the house of the Father.’’

SportsTransfer: Newcastle Emerge Favourites To Sign Kylian Mbappe by olajay86(op): 1:48pm On May 28, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/05/transfer-newcastle-emerge-favourites-to.html

Newcastle have incredibly entered the race to sign Kylian Mbappe, the Mirror UK reports.

The newspaper quoted major bookmakers as saying that Newcastle’s price for the player is the same as those by Liverpool and Juventus.

Their best price of 25/1 to sign the youngster is shorter than Barcelona’s (40/1), Man United’s (66/1) and Bayern Munich’s (80/1).

Incredibly, 64 per cent of all bets in the last 24 hours have backed Mbappe’s Newcastle switch, with Real Madrid the second most backed with 8 per cent of bets.

Real Madrid have remained the 4/1 favourites to sign the 20-year-old in the transfer window.

Newcastle are gearing up for their 51st season since winning a major trophy; the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969.

The Magpies are on the verge of being taken over by billionaire, Shiekh Khaled and the PSG forward would be the biggest signing in the club’s history.

This has led to a flurry of bets on Toon-related markets, with Newcastle being cut from 50/1 into 16/1 for an unthinkable top six finish.

NYSCMinimum Wage: NYSC Members To Earn N30,000 As Nigerian Govt. Gives Update by olajay86(op): 6:03pm On May 16, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/05/minimum-wage-nysc-members-to-earn.html

The Nigerian government on Thursday gave an update on the implementation of the new National Minimum Wage.

Mrs Zainab Usman, the Minister of Finance, said that the financial implications had been worked out by the Presidential Committee set up and that the report had been submitted to the president.

She said this on Thursday in Abuja, while addressing a news conference on the state of the Nigerian economy.

“We have looked at the report and what we are working on now is how we can finance it”, NAN quoted her as saying.

“Apart from the increase of the minimum wage from N18, 000 to N30, 000, there is also consequential adjustment that we have to negotiate with the labour unions.

“The total implication of that would be worked out only after the negotiations and that would involve determining how much increase every other staff that is above the minimum wage would get.

“It could be a flat amount or a proportion, but the other aspect that is clear is that there would be an increase for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as well because by the Act they should earn at least the minimum wage and the NYSC also has to increase to that N30, 000.

“So, because we have not done the negotiation with labour, I cannot give you the details of what we are projecting because it is simply on projections, at the end of the day, it is what we agree with labour that will be the amount that is due.”

On the issue of debt increase from N12.2 trillion to N23.0 trillion, Usman said it was by design.

According to her, the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) is designed to reflate the economy and plunge the nation out of recession by borrowing in the first to third year and in the fourth year start reducing the borrowing.

She said the borrowing was majorly to finance capital projects, which was why the nation was able to come out of recession.

“The method we adopted helped us but the consequence is this increase in debt and that is why the Ministry of Finance and all its agencies are working to ensure that we increase revenue.

“At 19.0 per cent debt to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), we still are the lowest among our comparator countries.

“The problem we have is a revenue problem and that is why all we are doing is to make sure we enhance our revenue, if our revenue performs optimally, we are in a good place as far as debt is concerned.”

The Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, on Wednesday disclosed that history will vindicate him despite been misunderstood and seen as the most controversial governor the state ever produced.

He made the disclosure during the commissioning of the Justice Chukwudifu Akunne Oputa High Court Complex in Owerri, the state capital.

He boasted of setting a standard, which no successor in the state can beat.

According to Okorocha: “Let my works speak for me after leaving office. I am not in the business of wasting the tax payers’ money to commission projects because I believe that such funds should be channelled to other productive ventures.

“I have set a standard which any incoming governor would not beat.”

Speaking also, the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Paschal Nnadi, said the commissioning of the court complex would go a long way to reduce the current suffocating situation of insufficient court facilities.

Nnadi stated that for many years insufficient court facilities gave rise to the uncomfortable situation where two or more judges shared one court hall.

President Muhammadu Buhari has invited the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to the presidential villa Abuja.

A source close to the seat of power made the disclosure to DAILY POST Tuesday afternoon.

According to the invitation sent earlier in the day, the duo will meet tonight.

It is unclear if the parley will be private as during Ramadan, the president invites heads of security agencies and parastatals; lawmakers, religions and traditional leaders; businessmen, entertainment personalities, youths among others to break the fast with him.

The meeting will hold amid fresh probe of the former Kwara governor by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

On Tuesday, Ibrahim Magu, the acting chairman, declared that the fresh investigation of Saraki, was not a witch-hunt.

Magu said the commission does not witch-hunt any government official irrespective of their political background.

Addressing journalists at the EFCC’s headquarters in Abuja, Magu disclosed that the Commission only investigates people it suspects of being involved in corrupt practices.

“It is not personal, we are not after anybody. His case is not different from other individuals that are being investigated”, he said.

“The EFCC does not pursue people who do not have corruption cases. If you are not corrupt, we do not invite you. If you are not a 419 or internet fraudster, we would never invite you.

”We do our homework very well. Sometimes we conduct our investigations for up to six months, we have been investigating people for more than five years.”

Jobs/Vacancies100 Job Search Mistakes To Avoid In 2019 - TITOPE BLOG by olajay86(op): 5:46pm On May 10, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/05/100-job-search-mistakes-to-avoid-in-2019.html

1. Failure to choose a career path
Many job-seekers are desperately in need of a job, so they tend to be comfortable with any job that comes their way. Not choosing a career path or choosing the wrong one can make your job-search really confusing.

2. Not choosing a career path that best fits your interest and skills
Searching and applying for random jobs that you find anywhere is one job-search mistake you should avoid as a job-seeker if you want to have a more tailored and focused job-search.

3. Not preparing for a job search at all
Many job-seekers don’t know that searching for a job is a job on its own. Before you go ahead to search and apply for jobs, you should make sure you have discovered your career path, created a winning CV and an attention getting cover letter. Luckily writing a cover letter is not as difficult as people thinik

Resume/CV Mistakes
4. Writing a generic CV
Every CV should be tailored to the particular job that you are applying for, rather than creating a CV that is meant to fit all purpose. A CV that is tailored to meet a particular job description will get more attention.

5. Stating unproven claims (things like I was the best marketer in the industry)
When you make claims like; “I became the best marketer in the industry” that are proven can work against you during the interview section. These kinds of statements can raise the employer’s expectations that you might not be able to meet up to during the interview.

6. Being unprofessional with information on your CV (using annoying email address)
Your CV is an official document that should be treated as one. Every information you give on your CV tells a lot about you, you should be careful to give professional information that the employer needs. Giving unprofessional email address like “hotsexybaby@...” may give the wrong impression about you.

7. Creating a very wordy CV
what your CV does basically is to tell your prospective employer that you are the best person for the job. Recruitment officers have loads of CV’s to read, so creating a wordy CV will not help the process at all.

8. Using cliché’s in your summary that don’t relate to the role
Recruiters see thousands of CV’s on a daily basis and they can easily tell when a job-seeker uses a random summary. The summary on your CV should represent who you are and how you are the best fit for the job.

9. Making your CV unnecessarily Scanty
Your CV should be targeted at giving the right information and impression about you. Formatting your CV to show only scanty bullet of your personal and career information is not good enough. Your CV is your marketing tool and as such should be treated as one.

10. Creating a poorly organized CV
How organized or how disorganized your CV is tells so much about your personality. If you have issues formatting your CV, you can seek the help of a CV service for a well formatted CV.

11. Having too many typos in your CV
Having too many typos shows that you are unorganized, careless and that you don’t pay attention to details. To help you eliminate typographical errors on your CV, you should re-read several times to make sure there are no error.

12. Stating an objective at the beginning of your CV
Some hiring manager’s see it as not relevant at all. According to experts, recruiters have approximately 8 minutes to spend on a CV, and you don’t want to spend time with irrelevancies.

13. Adding salary and negotiations to your CV
Adding a salary range to your CV shows that you are not really interested in the in the company or the job, that you are just interested in the money. It can also mar your opportunity of negotiating your salary properly.

14. Adding Images and logos
If you are not applying for a job in the media or an audition, then adding an image or a logo to your CV may not be really necessary. If you are not very good looking adding an image to your CV may be to your own disadvantage.

15. Leaving unexplained gaps in your CV
When you have employment gaps in your CV, you should always explain the gaps and not leave your prospective employer wondering. Leaving unexplained gaps can mean that you were ideal during that period. Employers want hard working and innovative employees.

16. Saving your CV in unsupported formats
You should always save your CV in supported formats that can easily be opened. A CV should be saved in formats like PDF and word document. Using special file format to save your document may not be the best option.

17. Adding reference without request
You should only add reference to your CV if it is requested by the recruiter. Adding a reference to your CV without permission is can make your CV unnecessarily wordy.

18. Writing your CV in third person narration
Writing your CV in third person narration makes it sound objective, more like you are not the one applying for the job. You should avoid using words like; he, she, it, they, him, her, them, his, her, hers, its, their, and theirs. You should rather use words like “I”.

19. Including hobbies and interests that are not related to the job
There is no point for you to include hobbies and interest that doesn’t relate to the job description. You should only add interests and hobbies that will emphasize that you are the best person for the job.

20. Lying about yourself on your CV
Giving the wrong information about yourself on your CV will not land you the job. Since you eventually look forward to getting an interview invite, then you have to give only information that you can defend.

21. Not including important information on your CV
You should never leave out important information on your CV, because that is what the employer will use to contact you. Information like; your telephone number, email address, etc. should not be left out of your CV.

22. Putting incorrect contact information
Before sending out your CV, you should make sure you include all the relevant information on your CV. Putting incorrect contact information, email address etc. may hinder employers from contacting you.

23. Not including keywords
Keywords are the phrases or words used in your CV that the ATS software will pick up. Including keywords in your resume will help it get noticed fast. The keyword you use on your CV should include adjectives like; diligent, hard-working, punctual etc. and verbs like delivered, achieved.

Cover Letter Mistakes
24. Restating your CV/Resume
Your cover letter should not be another copy of your CV. Your cover letter is an opportunity for you to show that you are the best person for the job.

25. Focusing too much on what you want to gain rather than what you want to give when writing your cover letter
When writing your cover letter, you should not write it in a way that it will speak so much of what you want to get from the company rather than what you will bring to the table. Your cover letter should be a summary of what you bring to the table that makes you the best.

26. Grammatical errors
You should always avoid making grammatical errors on your cover letter since your cover letter is your marketing tool. You can use https://grammarly.com to help you eliminate such errors.

27. Using a generic template message that doesn’t relate to the role
You should be specific when you are tailoring your cover letter to suit a particular role. Using a generic cover letter when applying for a more specific job role is one mistake every job-seeker should avoid. Use the samples in these cover letter templates to get started.

28. Writing a long cover letter
Your cover letter doesn’t need to be unnecessarily long. It should a have a focus and be straight to the point. You should go ahead and sell yourself in a concise manner when you are writing a cover letter.

29. Focusing more on your soft skill rather than related skills
When you are writing your cover letter, you should focus on adding skills that are related to the job description. Making a list of your soft skills is just making your cover letter unnecessarily wordy and irrelevant.

30. Including unnecessary information
Adding unnecessary information like; your name, educational background etc. when writing your cover letter makes it wordy and irrelevant to the post that you are applying for.

31. Not using strong language to describe yourself
Just like we talked about using keywords, you have to use strong descriptive words to describe your strength and achievements. Using these words already gives the recruiter an idea of who you are.

32. Using poor opening paragraph
The opening paragraph of your cover letter should be your “elevator pitch”. This gives you the opportunity to prove that you are a good fit. Using a poor opening paragraph can mar that opportunity and make the recruiter disinterested.
33. Not tailoring your cover letter
there is nothing like a “one fits all” when you are creating your cover letter. Every cover letter you want to send out should be tailored to fit the particular job that you are applying for.

34. Writing a too short cover letter
As much as you are advised to keep your cover letter short and straight to the point, you also not make it unnecessarily short. Writing your cover letter is not writing the subject of a mail. Your cover letter should be good enough to sell you.

35. Having a weak closing paragraph
you don’t necessarily have to thank the employer when you are closing the letter, you can close your letter by saying: “I believe this is a position where my passion for this industry will grow because of the (give examples) opportunities you provide your employees”.

36. Not naming the hiring manager
one mistake you should never make is not naming the hiring manager. If you can research about the hiring manager, you should name them in your cover letter.

37. Not getting some facts right like the name of the employer
One mistake you should never make is not getting some important facts right on your cover letter. Not getting the name of your hiring manager right is one mistake you should never make.

38. Not expressing enough interest in the role
you should always express your interest for the role when you are writing your cover letter. You should sound like you are enthusiastic about the job.

39. Writing in an unprofessional manner
you should always keep the tone of your writing professional. Being very unprofessional with the words you use on your cover letter. Be careful not to use swear words on your cover letter.

40. Giving too much personal information that are not needed
the information you should give on your cover letter should be the information that is relevant to the job and how you best fit in. Giving personal information like your genotype, blood group may be irrelevant.
41. Ignoring important accomplishments
you should not ignore or leave out some information like your accomplishment on your cover letter. Adding your accomplishment to your cover gives more reason why you are the best fit for the job.

42. Ignoring request for information in job posting
Sometimes, job vacancies come with instructions that you are supposed to adhere to on your cover letter. Not following the instructions on your cover letter can mar your opportunity.

43. Starting the first phrase of the cover letter with your name
just like we said earlier, you should not start the first phrase of your cover letter with name. You should start it with your elevation pitch. The recruiter must have probably seen your CV, so restating your cover letter is not ideal.

44. Speaking ill of previous employer
you should not speak ill of your previous employer because you want to appeal to the emotions of your prospective employer. You should focus on selling yourself and not speaking ill of your previous employer in your cover letter.

45. Not proof-reading the letter when you are done
because you are human and not a robot, mistakes are bound to happen. So should always proof-read your cover letter as soon as you are done writing it to eliminate errors.

46. Not making it clear why you want the position
Employers look forward to employing dedicated and loyal members that will be interested in working for the company. You need to make clear why you want the job.

Job interview mistakes
47. Not preparing for the interview at all
when you have an interview invite, the next thing is not for you to jump at it, you should take the time to prepare your mind to landing your dream job. Study the location of the venue, rehearse your elevation pitch etc.

48. Putting on the wrong dressing
there are clothes for different occasions. Make sure you put on a corporate dress when you are preparing for an interview. Your dressing tells a lot about who you are.

49. Arriving late for the interview
arriving late for the interview shows that you are not disciplined, that you don’t pay attention to details and you are not proactive. You should arrive the interview venue at least 30 minutes before the time.

50. Not getting used to common interview questions and answers
not getting used to common job interview questions and answers is one mistake you should never make. Practicing job interview questions and answer will help you prepare better for the interview.

This was as the minister led top management officials of the ministry to the family house of the Oyedepos in Ilorin to condole with the family.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Ms Grace Gekpe, as well as Directors and Special Advisers to the minister were in the delegation.

Mohammed described the death of the National Theatre boss as “sad and shocking,” adding that the entire ministry had lost a great administrator in her.

He said the deceased was a great enthusiast of culture who left good footprints on the sands of time and beyond the shores of Nigeria.

“I am here with the top management of the ministry to condole with you on the tragic and sad loss of one of the CEOs of one of our parastatals, the National Theatre.

“The late Dr Stella Oyedepo was a colleague, a friend, a woman who had infected us with her enthusiasm about positive attitude about life.

“We were all shocked when we heard the news of her death, but we must accept that God has destined it to happen,” he said.

The minister said that the deceased left very big imprints in the national eco system of the creative industry.

“In the one year she spent as the CEO of the National Theatre, we will continue to remember her enthusiasm, passion and resolute decision to move the establishment to greater heights.

“When the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Culture, Sen. Fatima Raji-Rasaki, called me yesterday, it was the infectious and passionate nature of Dr Oyedepo that struck her most,” he said.

The husband, in a brief remark, described his late wife as an “irreplaceable partner” whose death left indelible memories in him and the family.

He thanked the minister, management and members of staff of the ministry for the condolence visit.

NAN reports that when the delegation was offering prayers for the family, Dr David Oyedepo, the Founder and Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, came in.

The clergy man, who is a cousin of the deceased’s husband, joined in the prayer session and offered special prayers for all.

TravelLate Ex-governor Of Taraba, Suntai Not Certified To Fly Crashed Aircraft – AIB by olajay86(op): 6:22pm On Apr 25, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/04/late-ex-governor-of-taraba-suntai-not.html

The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), on Thursday, said late former Taraba Governor, Danbaba Suntai, was not certified to operate the Cessna 208B Caravan aircraft which crashed on Oct. 25, 2012.

The bureau said the aircraft, with registration number 5N-BMJ, which crashed at Kwanan-Waya Village, Yola South in Adamawa State, was also not in the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) registry.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the AIB Commissioner, Mr Akin Olateru, made the disclosure at the release of six final accidents/serious incidents reports in Lagos.

The released reports include that of the serious incident involving a Delta Air Lines Airbus A330-223 aircraft which occurred on Feb. 13, 2018 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Also included is the incident involving a Diamond 40 aircraft belonging to the International Aviation College, Ilorin on Nov. 25, 2013.

Others are the crash of a Bristow Helicopter aircraft which occurred in Lagos on Feb. 3, 2016 and the incident involving Gulfstream 200 aircraft belonging to Nest Oil which occurred on Jan. 20, 2018 at the Abuja Airport.

Also released was the report on the incident involving Dana Air MD 83 aircraft with registration number 5N-SRI, which occurred at the Port Harcourt Airport on Feb. 20, 2018.

Olateru said 24 safety recommendations were generated from the six final reports, adding that the AIB now had a total of 46 final reports and 178 safety recommendations since its inception in 2007.

“These safety recommendations are very important towards preventing re-occurrence of similar accidents or serious incidents, and when adhered to, can impact air safety positively, not only in Nigeria, but also globally,” he said.

On the former governor’s crash, he said the bureau could not conclusively determine the cause of the accident and the aircraft maintenance history was not found in the registry of any Aircraft Maintenance Organisation.

“However, the investigation identified the following factors which were that the pilot was not certified qualified and not competent to fly the aircraft, the decision of the pilot to operate a Visual Flight Rule (VFR) flight after sunset and inadequate oversight by the NCAA,” the commissioner said.

He, however, explained that Suntai had obtained a Private Pilot Licence and was qualified to fly Cessna 172 aircraft, having logged a total of 58 hours and 40 minutes of flights before the accident.

Olateru said the causal factor of the Delta Air Lines incident was due to an over-temperature condition and localised fire within the No. 1 engine cowling, which triggered a fire warning.

“The over-temperature and fire were caused by the ignition of fuel from a hairline crack on the fuel manifold supplying fuel nozzle 1,” he added.

On the Dana Air incident, Olateru said it was caused by an underestimation of the degradation of weather conditions (heavy rain, visibility and strong wind on short final and landing).

The commissioner also identified ineffective two-way communication between the Air Traffic Controllers and the Dana Air crew as one of the contributory factors.

He also disclosed that the Nestoil aircraft incident was caused by the use of improper directional control techniques to maintain the aircraft on the runway.

Furthermore, Olateru disclosed that the Bristow Helicopter’s crash was due to the failure of the crew to disengage the autopilot to fly the aircraft manually and non-adherence to the Company Operations Manual as it relates to after takeoff checks.

On the International Aviation College (IAC) aircraft incident, the AIB boss identified poor maintenance practice which led to loss of engine power during initial climb as its cause.
