PoliticsWhy God Saved Me From Helicopter Crash – Osinbajo by olajay86(op): 6:25pm On Feb 05, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/02/why-god-saved-me-from-helicopter-crash.html

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday revealed why God delivered him from helicopter crash.

Osinbajo had over the weekend escaped air mishap in Kabba, Kogi State, while heading for a political campaign.

However, the Vice President disclosed that God saved him because he needed to serve Nigerians.

Speaking during the All Progressives Congress, APC, campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, Osinbajo said “God delivered me from the crash because he wants me to work, that is what he called me to do and that is what we will do.

“Three things Buhari will do include creation of jobs for the youths, this is why we are doing all we are doing. The Lagos -Ibadan railway is coming to Ekiti and it will bring a lot of jobs. You have also heard of the Ado-Ekiti dual carriage way which we are doing, that will also create jobs.

“The creation of job creation for university graduates was why we established N-Power, this individuals are empowered with computers that are activated with educational materials. Now we are increasing N-Power to 1.5m so as they are completing NYSC they have something to do.

“We all heard they sold NEPA to different companies in 2015 and some can’t buy meters reasons they are sending estimated billing and can’t provide transformers but Buhari is willing to allow people distribute the power. When this is done there will be light for Nigerians and this is what we will do in NEXT LEVEL.

“All artisans will start getting money under the scheme of People MoneyBank to create jobs for Nigerians. This People Money Bank is a new scheme for people willing to create jobs and it will be felt in Ekiti.”

PoliticsACPN Picked Me Thinking I Have Looted Funds – Ezekwesili by olajay86(op): 6:13pm On Feb 04, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/02/acpn-picked-me-thinking-i-have-looted.html

Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, the former presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, ACPN, has said her party picked her as their candidate because they thought she had looted funds from previous administration as a former minister.

Ezekwesili stated this in a press conference on Monday in Abuja where she bared it all about her disassociation with ACPN.

The former minister, however, noted that her party became ‘enemies’ with her after they noticed she had no funds and was not willing to go and obtain foreign cash to prosecute campaign.

We recalls that ACPN had a week ago endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari after Ezekwesili stepped down as a presidential candidate.

She said: “You all saw how they demonstrated their preferred brand of politics by endorsing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in a classic somersault. Deceptivepolitics of transactions at its worst! God forbade that I should be in any way participate in such.

“Their actions last week did not surprise me one bit. My relationship with the ACPN became problematic once they faced the reality of my modest financial means that I had transparently disclosed to them from the beginning. Their mistake was that they harboured two wrong assumptions about me.

“First, they assumed that I was one of those who served in government and had a stash of looted public funds hidden somewhere to expend on the elections. When they realized that was not the case, they made a second wrong assumption by believing that I would be willing to go and obtain foreign cash to prosecute my campaign.”

Politics2019 Election: US Identifies One Major Problem In Nigeria by olajay86(op): 5:56pm On Feb 01, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/02/2019-election-us-identifies-one-major.html

The U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington, has said that his country had concern for a peaceful and prosperous democratic Nigeria.

He added that security was one major problem the country faces ahead of the coming general election.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Symington stated this when he visited the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, in Abuja on Friday.

He said that, “The U.S. is aware of the security challenges confronting Nigeria and the efforts of the Police to tackle them.”

The envoy, however, said he was optimistic that the right things were being done to ensure that peace and security reign in the country.

“I am here to give my support to the Nigeria Police Force,” he said.

Responding, the I-G said that the Police, under his watch, was tackling the security challenges in parts of the country.

He, however, pointed out that the challenges could not be tackled without the support of citizens.

“We are also seeking the support of the diplomatic community. We need your support in the area of training for our personnel which you have done several times,“ he said.

Adamu called for further assistance from the US in the area of technology to further enhance operational capacity of the force.

The U.S. and the United Kingdom recently announced repercussions, including visa restrictions, for election interference and election-related violence in the forthcoming polls in Nigeria.

Both nations stated that the elections were important not only to Nigeria, but for the entire Africa.

PoliticsBREAKING: Patience Jonathan Loses In Court, Forfeits N1.0004bn To FG by olajay86(op): 5:44pm On Feb 01, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/02/breaking-patience-jonathan-loses-in.html

Former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has forfeited temporarily N1.0004 billion to the Federal Government.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the interim forfeiture followed a court order secured by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The money was lodged in three deposits with Fidelity Bank Plc on 20th and 25th May 2015.

The forfeiture order by the Federal High Court sitting in Kano and presided over by Justice A. Lewis-Allagoa is consequent upon a motion ex parte filed by the Commission seeking for the interim forfeiture of the money.

The money was found in the account of Magel Resort Limited, a company linked to the former First Lady.

The Commission had information that a bank account domiciled in Fidelity Bank, had a huge sum of money that was not being used by anybody.

Upon receipt of the intelligence, the EFCC swung into action by conducting a preliminary investigation, which revealed that Patience and some relatives of former president, Goodluck Jonathan were directors of the Company.

Others named as directors are Oba Oba Tamunotonye, Goodluck Jonathan Aruera, Goodluck Jonathan Ariwabai and Esther Fynface.

In trying to trace the origin of the money, it was discovered that N500,000 was deposited on the 20th of May, 2015 by Fynface, who is alleged to be in charge of the Company, while N1 billion (One Billion Naira Only) was transferred in two tranches on the 25th May, 2015 from PAGMAT OIL AND GAS NIGERIA LIMITED, a company that was not incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

Justice A. Lewis-Allagoa held that: “An interim forfeiture order is granted to the Federal Government in the sum of N1,000,494,000 (One Billion, Four Hundred and Ninety Four Thousand Naira Only) in the Bank account of the 1st respondent Magel Resort Limited 4011019546 which is maintained with 2nd respondent Fidelity Bank Plc”.

The court further ordered that the forfeited sum be deposited in the Treasury Single Account of the Federal Government.

PoliticsOnnoghen: FG To Resume Cjn’s Trial February 4 by olajay86(op): 7:00pm On Jan 31, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/01/onnoghen-fg-to-resume-cjns-trial.html

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) will resume the trial of Justice Walter Onnoghen on February 4, 2019.

Onnoghen, who was suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari, on a directive issued by the CCT, will face trial over a six-count charge bordering on his alleged of non-declaration of some of his assets as prescribed by the law.

The Danladi Umar-led tribunal, in a statement on Thursday, disclosed that the Federal Government had in a letter that was signed by two legal officers at the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, Musa Ibrahim Usman and Fatima Danjuma Ali, applied for continuation of hearing on the charge against Onnoghen.
In the statement that was signed by the CCT’s Head of Press & Public Relations, Mr. Ibraheem Al-Hassan, the Federal Government via the letter by the CCB drew attention of the Mr. Umar’s three-member panel to a ruling of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, which cleared the coast for Onnoghen’s trial to proceed.

The appellate court had in a unanimous decision by a three-man panel led by Justice Abdul Aboki, declined Onnoghen’s request for his trial to be temporarily suspended, pending the determination of an appeal he lodged to challenge the competence of the charge and the procedure adopted by the CCT.

According to Al-Hassan, FG’s request read in part: “The above subject refers. This case came up for hearing of preliminary objection to the jurisdiction of the Tribunal on the 28th of January, 2019 but the Tribunal could not proceed due to the pendency of the case at the Court of Appeal.

“However, in the wake of this afternoon, 30th January, 2019 the Court of Appeal has thrown out the appeal.

“Consequently on the above, we urge the Honourable Tribunal to give us a date for resumption of the trial subject to the convenience of the Tribunal, most obliged my Lord”.

PoliticsAPC Mocks Onnoghen, Buhari’s Critics As Suspended CJN Loses At Appeal Court by olajay86(op): 6:39pm On Jan 31, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/01/apc-mocks-onnoghen-buharis-critics-as.html

The All Progressives Congress (APC) says decision of the Court of Appeal to okay the trial of Justice Walter Onnoghen, erstwhile Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), by the Code of Conduct Tribunal has vindicated his suspension from office by President Muhammadu Buhari.

This is contained in a press statement issued by APC National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu issued on Thursday.

Recall that when the President, acting on the directive of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), announced the suspension of Onnoghen, some opposition parties alleged an illegal action by the President and viewed the CCT as lacking jurisdiction.

But the Court of Appeal had in a unanimous decision read by Justice Abdul Aboki dismissed the request brought by Onnoghen asking for a stay of proceedings in his asset declaration trial at the CCT ostensibly clearing any doubt about the competence of the CCT and the procedure that led to the suspension.

The APC statement said: “The APC had in the wake of the suspension insisted that the rule of law be upheld and allowed to thrive while Justice Onnoghen submit himself to the law.

“The Appeal court ruling has further advertised the credentials of President Buhari as an unrepentant believer in the rule of law, due process and justice. Contrary to claims by the opposition and a section of the Nigerian Bar Association that the suspended CJN is a victim of persecution and that the law is not being followed in his arraignment.

“The Appeal Court has now confirmed that Onnoghen’s trial at the CCT is indeed within the confines of the law. His suspension is therefore not prejudice as being painted in some quarters since it was based on an order lawfully issued by the CCT.

“The suspended CJN had adjudicated on many cases where he ruled that only the CCT is exclusively empowered to entertain cases on asset declaration. It may be tempting for a weak and self-serving leader to ignore these legal precedents, but not President Buhari. He is ever truthful, fearless, fair and just and a stickler to rules.

“The APC is calling on the opposition to subject their criticisms to constitutional tests before polluting the public space with remarks, largely a product of political experience capable of bringing an incorruptible President to opprobrium. Issues of law cannot thrive where emotions and sentiment are the driving force.”

We reports that APC is missing in the list published at the INEC Secretariat on Aba road.

This is in line with the Judgement of Justice James Omotosho who issued a restraining order on INEC to drop the APC from participating in the elections in Rivers state.

Two weeks ago, INEC also failed to publish the names of APC candidates for the National Assembly elections in Rivers state.

PoliticsDetails Of Governors’ Meeting With NSA Emerges by olajay86(op): 6:34pm On Jan 29, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/01/details-of-governors-meeting-with-nsa.html

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has pledged its support to security agencies to ensure that the forthcoming election is conducted in a conducive atmosphere.

NGF Chairman and Gov. Abdul’aziz Yari of Zamfara stated this while reading the communiqué issued at the end of the forum’s emergency meeting on Tuesday in Abuja.

Yari said the meeting which was held with the National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Maj.-Gen. Mohammed Monguno, deliberated on election security assessment.

He commended security agencies, including Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Department of State Security (DSS) and the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA),for putting in place necessary arrangements to ensure that the election is violence free.

He sought for stronger synergy between the governors and heads of security agencies in various states to strengthen preemptive measures of curbing election violence and other antisocial vices.

“Members of the NGF are committed to collaborating with all security agencies to ensure that the forthcoming elections are free, fair and are conducted in an environment conducive for peaceful election.

“Governors are however concerned about the proliferation of arms and ammunition, and the spate of kidnapping across the country.

“The forum recommends strong collaboration and intelligence sharing among security agencies in the country to ensure that all lives and property are protected, regardless of individual or group affiliations,’’ Yari said.

He said governors came into power through the ballot and would make sure the forthcoming elections are free, fair and meet the international standard like those of 2015.

“President Muhammadu Buhari did not in any way take the election as a do or die affair, and he has promised that the election is going to be credible.

“We as his representative in our various states are going to ensure that there is enabling environment.

“We will also ensure that we work with security agencies to keep their oath of office, do their work without fear or favour, and apprehend anybody who is trying to cause problem during the election,’’ Yari added.

He explained that the meeting was held following the last council of state meeting where the NSA requested to brief the governors.

Monguno earlier in his remarks warned politicians against arming political thugs during the general election, saying that government would demonstrate zero tolerance to thuggery and illegal bearing of fire-arms.

He said that the Nigeria Police Force had instructed all state commands to arrest anyone who bore fire-arms illegally or engage in acts of violence during the election.

Monguno said that intelligence reports had indicated plans by some individuals and groups to instigate violence during and after the election.

“Reports reaching me revealed that some individuals that are uncertain of their fate in the election are plotting to participate in widespread violence aimed at scuttling the poll,” Monguno said.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen, the acting Inspector General of Police (I-G), Mohammed Adamu, said that security agencies were ready for the election.

“All the security agencies are going to be professional and neutral in the process of the election. Nobody should be in doubt in the neutrality of the security agencies,’’ Adamu said.

PoliticsHow I Appointed My Security Chiefs – Buhari by olajay86(op): 6:03pm On Jan 24, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/01/how-i-appointed-my-security-chiefs.html

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday disclosed how he appointed heads of security agencies in his government

The president, while addressing the Obi of Onitsha, Nnaemeka Achebe, as well as otber traditional and religious rulers at the palace of the monarch in Anambra State, said appointment of security chiefs was purely based on competence and merit.

The president made the comments in response to allegations raised by the traditional rulers about the marginalisation of the South East states, particularly in the military.

Buhari noted that he had been fair to all the regions of the country since his assumption of office on May 29, 2015.

“I am pleased that you have the courage to present issues about your constituency but I expect you to be more patriotic in your presentation.

“In the south east, there are five states, in the north, there are 19 states. In the south east, out of the five states, I think five members of the Federal Executive Council are from this region, Trade and Investment, Foreign Affairs, Labour, Science and Technology, and seven of the northern states have only ministers of state.

“I appointed most people into the country’s security architecture without knowing them personally, except based on their professional records.

“I think I tried to be fair. And you can ask these ministers. I never asked them how are they running their parastatals, the boards. I appointed them and I trust them. I allow them work.

“I don’t have to tell you what noise the other states are making especially when compared to the votes I got in 2015. So, I think I try to be fair.

“Those of you who were in the military even in the Biafran Army, know that the entry point is the same and you go for basic training, until you go to your formations or institutions whether it is Army, Navy, AirForce or the police.

“The most competent or senior person is the one that gets there.

“If there are half a million soldiers, only one man can be the chief of Army staff at a time. This is so for the rest of the troop. In recruitment, we make sure that by states, people are recruited. At least, this is what I do, people are recruited from each state. For those who manage to get recruited, it’s up to them to get to the top if they are professional and work for it.

“The present chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff even the previous Inspector General of Police that just left, I didn’t know them personally before I appointed them. I follow records. The current acting Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Adamu, was appointed based on merit.

“The same thing with the IG, that one was appointed last week. I don’t think I have ever seen him, I follow records. So, appointments in the Armed Forces and other law enforcement agencies depends on individual performance after recruitment not where you think you come. At least between me and God, this is what I do,” he said.

Politics2019 Elections: How ‘APC Thugs Vandalised Our Campaign Materials’ – PDP Senatori by olajay86(op): 5:28pm On Jan 22, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/01/2019-elections-how-apc-thugs-vandalised.html

The senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ekiti central senatorial district, Barrister Obafemi Adewale, has alleged that some hoodlums loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC), who allegedly followed the convoy of the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo into the state on Monday, vandalised his campaign materials in the state and removed others.

Obafemi, who is a former Secretary-General of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) and ex-Attorney-General of Ekiti State, also described the alleged destruction of his campaign materials as a rude shock to his party and an unwholesome development against democratic precedents.

His words: “We are having this press briefing because of the significance that we attach to the latest development that occurred in the state, particularly Ado Ekiti on Monday. In furtherance of our campaign for the February 16 polls, we have mounted our campaign materials all over the state just like any other candidate, it was however a rude shock to us and for me particularly as a senatorial candidate of PDP in Ekiti central to wake up on Monday morning to the ugly acts of some undemocratic forces who went all over the state to vandalize our campaign materials and remove many of them.

“We found out that only the materials for me and other candidates of the PDP were so vandalised by these hoodlums. We also observed that none of the materials of the All Progressive Congress (APC) were so vandalised, this unequivocally establishes the fact that it was done by either members of APC or hoodlums, criminals sympathetic to APC, we noted in particular, one of our billboards in front of Eyitayo estate on Iworoko Road, Ado Ekiti, was vandalised by miscreants who were within the convoy of the VP, and there are eyewitnesses to this development. it is very clear that this was done by APC and we are worried by the fact that the ruling APC is displaying intolerance to the opposition in the state.

“Maybe they wanted to give an impression to VP that they are the only one, on ground here we want the world to know that the stronghold of PDP is Ekiti central senatorial district, this is a PDP state and it has been demonstrated by the results of past polls in the state since 2003.

“The democratic space is been polluted and shrunk by the activities of these undemocratic elements in the state. We demand peaceful, free and fair poll not only in Ekiti but in the nation. It is the only way we can guarantee true democracy, what happened in Ekiti yesterday if not checked is a message that the opposition cannot operate freely in the state but we refuse to be intimidated, I urge my supporters not to remain undaunted, determined and hold out firmly against oppression, intimidation and undemocratic forces, Nigeria is a great country and Ekiti is a land of honour, we want to behave ourselves honourably and we plead with the ruling party to allow peace to reign in the state, one of the hallmark of democracy is a periodic change in administration s through Democratic elections , this elections cannot be considered democratic if the ruling party is not allowing the opposition to operate freely.

“The Presidential candidate of the PDP Atiku Abubabar visited Ekiti last week and PDP members did not vandalise campaign materials of APC or any other parties because Atiku was in town, what would APC have lost if they allowed the VP to know that there are other parties campaigning in Ekiti. I tell you, the highest form of deceit is self deceit, what APC is trying to do is to give a false impression that they are the only one on ground, but by the results of coming polls, we will show them that PDP is the only party to beat here, we don’t want those who come from Abuja to think that it is only APC, no matter how those who are in power think they are, the peoples’ power is greater.

“The APC have not been campaigning in our senatorial district, we hear rumours that they want to rig polls, but we warn them against this, no one should dare rig the polls. We are peaceful people. Every one knows that Obafemi Adewale is a peaceful living man, a gentle man. All my followers know that they must conduct themselves decently. This is how we want those in opposition and say the ruling party to conduct themselves.

“The VP has been campaigning against hate speeches, he should now start campaigning against hateful actions which is being done by members of his party now,” he said.

PoliticsShehu Sani Reacts As National Council Of State Approves N27,000 As Minimum Wages by olajay86(op): 5:22pm On Jan 22, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/01/shehu-sani-reacts-as-national-council.html

Shehu Sani, the Senator representing Kaduna Central has criticised the approval of the sum of N27,000 as the new minimum wage by the National Council of State.

The national council approved the sum during its meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, presided by President Muhammadu Buharion Tuesday.

The N27,000 approved by the Council of State is N3,000 short of the N30,000 the Tripartite Committee on Review of National Minimum Wage recommended.

The National Council of State also approved the transmission of the National minimum wage bill to the National Assembly.

Reacting, Sani on his Twitter page criticised the decision of the National Council of State.

The Kaduna lawmaker wondered why N3000 was deducted from the N30,000 minimum wage proposed by the Labour union.

Sani wrote: “National Council of State what will you gain by ‘cutting 3k from 30k’ in a nation where even government agencies are declaring ‘record breaking’ billions and trillions in revenues and also states making claims of higher IGR?”

NYSCWhat We’ll Do To Corps Members Involved In Election Malpractice – NYSC by olajay86(op): 4:03pm On Jan 22, 2019
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/01/what-well-do-to-corps-members-involved.html

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Maj.-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, has warned corps members to avoid any form of election malpractice as anyone caught will be prosecuted.

NAN reports that Kazaure gave the warning in Ibadan on Tuesday during his advocacy and sensitisation visit to Oyo State.

The director-general warned the corps members not to accept any form of inducement, including money from politicians, strangers and members of the public.

He advised them to always study their environment and be security-conscious, saying that corps members participating in election duties must be in their NYSC uniform.

“Your Identity cards must be on you; ensure your phones are recharged with enough airtime; be armed with pocket notes; have the phone numbers of your local government inspectors and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs).

“Peradventure there is any problem, protect yourself first and report to the nearest police station.

“The security operatives will all be deployed during the exercise. Note that participation is not compulsory for you.

“Never drag anything with anybody. You may decide not to participate because it is optional. Any corps member that violates the law having been warned, would be prosecuted.

“INEC officials will train you people and clothe you with everything needed for the elections. After the training, they will select the best among you; so be good ambassadors of the scheme, your family and Nigeria,’’ Kazaure said.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Ibadan South-East Local Government, Mr. Abimbola Omiyale, promised that the government would do its best to ensure adequate security of the corps members.

“We are all joining hands to make sure that the corps member who will work anywhere in the state, will be protected and that the election is violent-free,” he said.

Also, the Oyo State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Emiola Ambekemo, said the sensitisation was to remind the corps members that they must be law abiding.

“They are already aware of the right things to do especially in times like this. We just need to remind them that they must be law abiding as anyone who violates the rules will face the law as the director-general has said,” she said.

Speaking on behalf of the corps members, Mr Ajiboye Okoye assured the director-general and the management of NYSC that the corps members would not compromise in any way.

“We have taken a resolution today to abide by the law, guidelines of INEC and be good ambassadors of the scheme,’’ he said.

PoliticsFayemi Declares State Of Emergency by olajay86(op): 7:52am On Dec 28, 2018
http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/12/fayemi-declares-state-of-emergency.html?m=1

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State on Thursday declared emergency in the water sector to ensure water supply to all nooks and crannies of the state.

He made the declaration in Ikun Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area of
the state where he had gone to kick-start the turn around water
rehabilitation project at Ero Dam to supply water to many major towns
in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor
consequently promised to take legal and institutional steps to also
make the state open defecation free before 2030.

He said it was in a bid to reduce the level of water borne diseases in
Ekiti and make the commodity available to residents that he declared
the emergency in water sector.

According to him, the people must be saved from preventable Illnesses
through provision of potable water.

He clarified that the emergency was in line with the step taken by
President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari had initiated similar policy under a programme called Water
Supply Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in partnership with the world
bank.

NAN reports that the project, which will gulp 55 million dollars, was
awarded to Sagittarius Henan Engineering and is to be completed within
18 months.

The governor said the WASH programme of the Federal Government and
world bank was initiated to reduce amount being paid by Nigerians on
hospital bills after contacting all forms of diseases from unhygienic
water sources.

Fayemi said statistics had shown that water supply to urban cities and
rural areas in the country had reduced by 15 and four per cent
respectively, in spite of geometric increase in the population.

The governor added that the state had already paid N700 million
counterpart fund to complete the project that was approved by the
world bank in 2014.

"It was because of the safety of the citizens that the Federal
Government declared emergency in WASH. So, Ekiti has keyed into the
programme with this project.

"Ekiti was ranked second in Nigeria as a state that practised open
defecation . We shall put up institutional and legal frameworks to
ensure Ekiti is open defecation free before 2030

"Part of what accounted for this high practice was because of low
water supply to our homes

"We are making our traditional rulers as champions that would canvass
for open defecation-free and if we are going to stop our palaces from
digging boreholes here and there, we as government should provide
water to our people

"We have done our feasibility studies, 85 per cent of our water in
Ekiti shall be provided by Ero and Egbe dams if they operate at
optimal capacity," he said.

The governor assured that affordable tariff would be charged by
government and that such would be metred to prevent extortion.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Utilities, Mr Olumide
Ajayi, said rehabilitation on Egbe dam located in Gbonyin Local
Government was also being co-financed by European Union and Ekiti
State.

Ajayi said the two projects would supply water to over 66 towns across
nine local government areas in the state.

He urged the beneficiaries to be ready to pay affordable tariffs and
maintain the facilities when completed.

The General manager , Ekiti State Water Corporation, Mr Olabisi
Agbeyo, revealed that this was the first time major rehabilitation
would be carried out on Ero dam in 33 years.

"As we speak, Ekiti is not owing a kobo as counterpart payment; we
have paid up and this shows how committed the state was in water
supply", Agbeyo said.

PoliticsAPC Crisis: Enugu Faction Unveils Female Running Mate by olajay86(op): 1:15pm On Oct 29, 2018
http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/10/apc-crisis-enugu-faction-unveils-female.html

Amidst crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State, a factional guber candidate of the party, Barr. George Ogara has unveiled Mrs. Ginika Tor Ijeoma Williams as his running mate.

The female running mate was unveiled by the leader of Ogara’s faction of the party, Deacon Okey Ogbodo.

Speaking at the unveiling of Tor at Ogara’s Campaign headquarters in Enugu, Ogbodo explained that her choice was in line with the decision of the party in the state to select its running mate from Enugu West senatorial district, having produced the Governorship candidate from Enugu North senatorial district of the state.

He added that the choice of Tor also satisfied the mindset of the party leadership at the national level on gender sensitive.

Ogbodo expressed optimism that “the combination of Barr George Ogara and Mrs Ginika Tor is the best for the party in the state fit to defeat PDP, which is the ruling party in Enugu state.”

Ogbodo warned that any attempt to choose governorship and deputy governorship candidates of the party outside the two, when the final list is published by the INEC, will spell doom for APC in the State.

He said, “Today’s event is to unveil the running mate to our Governorship candidate for APC in Enugu state, Barr George Ogara, who remains the authentic candidate of the party for 2019 Enugu governorship election.

“We shall then wait for the official publication of our list. Any attempt to impose another candidate on the party will spell doom for APC in Enugu state.

“I want it to be on record that we are the only group that conducted primaries of the party throughout the 260 wards in the state. It has been our lot to fight for the downtrodden. We have tabled our complaints to the National leadership of the party led by Adams Oshiomhole.”

In her acceptance speech, Tor said she would work closely with Ogara to turn around the economy of the state.

She promised to influence more women involvement in governance of the state.

Meanwhile, Prince Chikwado Chukwuta, has already been chosen as the running mate to Senator Ayogu Eze, who was declared winner of the guber primaries by the APC election panel sent by the party’s NWC.

It is expected that these controversies would be laid to rest by November 2, when INEC would publish list of governorship candidates.

Christianity EtcBishop Oyedepo Reveals Sponsors Of Killer Herdsmen by olajay86(op): 9:40am On Oct 29, 2018
http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/10/bishop-oyedepo-reveals-sponsors-of.html

The Bishop of Living Faith Church (aka Winners Chapel), Bishop David Oyedepo, yesterday said the inability of the government to arrest killer herdsmen in some part of the Middle Belt zone was because the killers were agents of the government.

Speaking in Ota, Ogun State, at the Church’s Sunday Service titled ‘Covenant Day of Settlement and Thanksgiving’, the clergyman stated that it was absurd for the government to fail in arresting some self-confessed killer herders in Jos, Plateau State.

Oyedepo said: “Help me ask them how many mosques have been destroyed by these people? You can also ask them how many of those who have destroyed the church has ever been caught? How many of the destroyed churches has government ever added a dime to rebuild?

“I have said it, let us remove the mask from the masquerade and nobody will fear it anymore. Government is part of this thing; you don’t need to go to school to know that.

“If people claimed responsibilities to the killings in Jos and were not arrested, the question is who is to arrest them? Is it the citizens or government? It’s the government, but they cannot arrest them because they are their agents.”

While stating that every leader is a caretaker and God remains the creator and owner of every nation, including Nigeria, he added that Nigeria would have peace when they understand that God is in control of everything, including the land.

“When a caretaker starts behaving like a landlord he will be removed. God is the permanent landlord of the earth.

“Too many arrogant foes who pose to own this nation, be warned because the day of God’s judgement is here.

“Those who sponsor and perpetrate killings and also offer covering for killers to keep killing, God will lead them to rest. God will give us peace in this country by all means.

“God enthrones kings and removes kings,” he said.

PropertiesLagos Govt Issues Ultimatum To Owners Of Distressed Buildings by olajay86(op): 11:58am On Oct 26, 2018
http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/10/lagos-govt-issues-ultimatum-to-owners.html

The Lagos State Government has, through the State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), issued a seven-day ultimatum to owners of buildings in Ajangbadi prone to collapse, to demolish them or risk demolition by the Agency in line with the present administration’s commitment to protecting the lives of residents of the state.

The General Manager, LASBCA, Engr. Olalekan Shodeinde, gave the warning on Friday, during a sensitisation meeting with stakeholders and residents of the community, stressing that a thorough engineering appraisal of such buildings have been done with statutory notices given to the owners.

He stated that one of such buildings prone to collapse is situated at Teslim Street, off Aka Road Ajangbadi in Ojo area of Lagos, noting that the partially collapsed building has long been identified by the Agency but in spite of several statutory seal-up and removal notices served to the owner since August 2017, the Landlord has refused to comply with the directive.

The General Manager, however, maintained that the distressed building would be demolished after the expiration of the final seven-day ultimatum for the safety of residents around the place as well as to prevent loss of lives and property in the vicinity.

While noting that no responsible government will expose her citizens to any form of danger, Shodeinde decried the total disregard for building regulations by some residents thereby causing anxiety within the populace.

He emphasised that the seven-day ultimatum given to the various owners is done within the ambit of the law with a view to ensuring a better physical environment for sustainable development.

In his remarks, the Baale of Ajangbadi, Chief Murisiku Teslim, said that all efforts are being put in place to ensure that building owners in the area comply with the State government’s directive.

PoliticsAPC Crisis: We Will Resist Attempt To Remove Oshiomhole – Omo-agege by olajay86(op): 11:33am On Oct 26, 2018
http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/10/apc-crisis-we-will-resist-attempt-to.html

The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Ovie Omo-Agege has vowed that members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, will resist any gang-up against the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

Following the recent APC primary elections across the federation, some aggrieved members of the party have reportedly demanded the resignation of Oshiomhole and have started a search for his replacement.

Reacting to the move, Omo-Agege said that he and other members of the party would resist any attempt to remove Oshiomhole.

Speaking with Vanguard, yesterday, the lawmaker insisted that the APC National Chairman enjoys the backing of President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Omo-Agege, “I am not aware of any move to replace Oshiomhole and to the extent that there is any such move, it will fail. It will fail because I know that Oshiomhole enjoys the confidence of Mr. President, he enjoys the confidence of who is who in the Presidency.

“Yes, there are lots of agitations and allegations flowing from the primaries. You will imagine that as a family that there are bound to be problems after the primary, it is the ability of the party to address the post-primary challenges that make it strong or otherwise.

“I know that a reconciliation committee is about to be put in place and leaders are going to reach out to those who are aggrieved, but I can tell you there is no legitimate move to go after Oshiomohle’s seat.

“I repeat, to the extent that it is being contemplated, we will resist it and it will fail. We are talking seriously and you are talking about people who do not matter in the party. For the major stakeholders, there is nothing like that, we are satisfied with the stewardship of Comrade Oshiomhole.

“As I said earlier, yes there is bound to be agitation in every primary, it does not matter who is superintending over the primary, even if you bring an angel to conduct it, there will still be challenges, once again, it is the ability of Oshiomhole to rise above the post-primary challenges and addresses it that matters.

“But I can tell you any move from the south-south or anywhere to remove Oshiomhole from that seat will be resisted and it will fail.”

EducationPlateau Crisis: ASUU Calls For Reclamation Of Lands Belonging To UNIJOS by olajay86(op): 8:51am On Oct 26, 2018
http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/10/plateau-crisis-ASUU-calls-for.html

Following the recent violence that bedeviled some communities in Plateau State, including the University of Jos community, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) University of Jos Branch, has called for the reclamation of all lands belonging to the institution, which have been encroached upon illegally.

ASUU also called for the release of a takeoff grant, which has not been given to the University since its establishment forty years ago.

The Union lamented that recently, a University, which was established in Adamawa State, was given a takeoff grant of N2 billion, and wondered why University of Jos was yet to receive its own when its contemporaries were given.

This was stated by the Chairperson of the Union, Dr. Maigoro Lazarus, while addressing journalists at the ASUU Secretariat in Jos.

Lazarus said, “We demand the immediate reclamation of all lands belonging to the University of Jos, which have been encroached upon illegally on different fronts.

“Creation of permanent buffer zones around the University to guarantee security of members of the University community.”

The Union also called for the strengthening of the internal security apparatus within the institution for improved efficiency during crisis.

The Chairperson further demanded for the provision of a “Special Intervention Fund” for erecting perimeter fence for the entire land mass belonging to the University of Jos.

ASUU further demanded for the provision of another “Special Intervention Fund” for the construction of more hostels and staff quarters to reduce the number of those living outside the campus.

According him, alternative routes should be created on campus to aid escape to safety during emergencies.

“We appeal to the Federal Government to release immediately, the outstanding take-off grant due to the university since its creation over 40 years ago, to enable her develop needed infrastructures to bring her at par with other second generation universities in the country.

He said in the recent unrest, two students and a staff were killed.

“The security agencies should as a matter of urgency, identify the killers of the students and staff so as to bring them to justice,” Lazarus pleaded.

The Union called on the Federal, State Governments and other philanthropic agencies to come to the aid of staff and students who lost property during the crisis in Jos.

“We call for an immediate end to the grazing of cattle on the campus as it is distracting to academic activities and a cause of anxiety to members of the university community in view of the recent menace posed by herders in the country.

“We also call for a thorough investigation to fish out the uniformed security personnel involved in the killing and maiming of our students during the recent crisis”, he stressed.

“We call on the federal and the state governments to set in motion machinery for implementing the reports of the various investigations into previous crises in the state towards tackling the problem from its roots.”

Lazarus added if the aforementioned demands were considered, it would go a long way in resolving the security challenges facing the institution.

PoliticsNHIS: Why Buhari, Cabal In Presidency Are Protecting Corrupt Officials by olajay86(op): 9:58am On Oct 25, 2018
http://www.titopeblog.com/2018/10/nhis-why-buhari-cabal-in-presidency-are.html

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused President Muhammadu Buhari and a cabal in the Presidency of protecting officials of the current government indicted of corruption.

PDP made the allegation while tasking Buhari to “come out clear on why he has been protective of the Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Prof. Usman Yakubu,” who had been accused of siphoning over N25 billion from the agency.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, the opposition party wondered why Buhari has been covering indicted corrupt officials.

The opposition party wondered if there were fears in the Presidency that an investigation into the alleged fraud in NHIS will expose the alleged involvement of individuals close to the President.

The statement reads. “With Monday’s forceful repression of the suspension of the Executive Secretary by the NHIS Governing Council over humongous corruption allegation and abuse of office, it has become clear that the Presidency cabal is directly complicit in the NHIS fraud and is seeking every means to ensure a cover-up.

“Nigerians can recall that this same Executive Secretary was in July 2017 suspended by the Minister of Health over alleged gross misconduct and corrupt practices, only for President Buhari, upon his return to the country in February, 2018, reinstated him while he was still a guest of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“The PDP invites Nigerians to note how the Presidency has continued to provide official cover for accused official even without the slightest investigation on the allegations and sanction by both the minister and the Governing Council.

“We ask: Why is the Presidency protecting an official of government openly indicted for corruption? What is the Presidency trying to conceal by ensuring that Prof. Yusuf remains the Executive Secretary after his indictment?

“Furthermore, why is the Presidency vehemently opposed to any form of investigation on the activities of NHIS under Prof. Yakubu? Is it true that there are fears in the Presidency that an investigation will expose the alleged involvement of individuals close to the President in the reported fraud in the scheme?

“Finally, while the PDP describes as reprehensible that an administration which prides itself as fighting corruption will continue to provide official cover for its officials indicted of corruption, the party urges Nigerians to continue to hold President Buhari responsible for the corruption in NHIS, as well as the siphoning of trillions of naira from various agencies, under his watch.”

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, in a session with correspondents in Abuja yesterday, said: “The issue of submission of governorship candidates to INEC falls due on November 2nd, so we haven’t reached the stage of where we will submit names or beat the deadline.

“You are aware that there was a court action challenging the Imo governorship primary election. The position of the party is that whatever court judgement, good or bad, we must comply with it.

“We will only decide who will be APC’s governorship candidate for Imo State by November 2nd.”

Meanwhile, Issa-Onilu also decried the allegations against Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the national leadership as a fallout of the failure of some of the governors and chieftains to project their interests in the party.
