Please, Guru in the House.
My study permit got refused on two reasons below; I need sincere advise before I refire the application. I am currently working and it was stated in my application letter, with offer letter attached, even promotion letters was attached.. JD was also attached.
I don't understand what the VO means as below:
1. Not satisfied you will leave Canada subsection 216 based on purpose of visit
2. Not satisfied you will leave Canada subsection 216 based on employment situation

Please, kindly advise.. Thanks
Sorry about your refusal bro!

This your own shock me o, you are employed yet you were still refused based on employment situation...

Wondering how people are still applying upon series of refusals. In whole August and September, none was invited for medical and doesn't bother, seriously? The prime minister(PM) election is October 21st or something, and I heard it's because of this embassy are giving refusals because apparently the Liberals have different policies, especially Immigration policy, from the Conservatives. And not until after election things might not change. I have always known something is not right. Just sad that I fell into this group of victims but I will re fire immediately after the election.
Peace
I don’t think the election has anything to do with the recent refusals , it could be due to a reason not clear to us, but definitely not the election!

Thank you for your interest in studying in Canada. After careful review of your study permit
application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet
the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and
Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds:
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your travel history.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of
residence.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your current employment situation.
You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can
demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be
accompanied by a new processing fee.
Sincerely,

Hi, I don't know the source of this your information. Absolutely, there has been recent high rate of refusal to study permit applications in Africa especially Nigerian even my brother & family friend were both denied 2 weeks ago. Majority of the asylum seekers are Nigerians with US visit visa B1/B2 using US to come to Canada boarder seeking for asylum and NOT study permit holders. With study permit, u are practically almost a resident, it's just a matter of time to transit into PR status. BTW, I live in Canada, I have credible info to this assertion.

Hello!

Is Getting a study leave from a company that pays 100k a good move as home tie?

JustMellow:
Hello Olalemii,

Actually, the VO knows better irrespective of the filed application. Though, your application seems good, but who's your sponsor determines the sufficiency of the funds to cover the tuition balance of the 25k tuition after the 4k payment, when your sponsor have a closing balance of 10m. If you remove the balance tuition from the 10m, what will be left of your sponsor to cater for is own personal needs and family. I presume you using a third party sponsor. Also, I doubt if there was a provision made or showed on how the tuition fees and LE for the subsequent year will be met.

Don't let me scare you or ruin your morale, this application is well enough to land you a positive decision, but as a way of scrutinizing, the aforesaid points was raised as an added insight and heads up.

You should be fine if that's financial level you can show, what matters most is to keep believing.

All the best!
I sent you a pm

Hello Bayosegun,

The issue can be easily sited in your course selection and your SOP was really weak. You failed to build your ambition for wanting to pursuing a degree in Theology to the already acquired experience and other certificates received relating to Theology.

Also, you failed to clearly talk about your home ties and level of establishment in your home country even though you show documents for it. The was no proof of relationship and reasons for a third party sponsorship in your SOP. In general, the application wasn't good enough.

My advise:

1. Defer your admission to the next possible intake

2. Request for your gcms notes

3. If possible, change course to a related one either to your previous course or work experience, because convincing the VO on a sudden career switch is tedious and painstaking, but not infeasible.

4. Draft a well composed SOP on why the course, country, benefits, future plans, sponsor etc.; and the LOE to address the refusal reasons.

5. Work on your funds and sponsorship commitment by getting the person to transfer your 1yr LE into your account, and if possible make half payment of your tuition fees. Before you pay, check the school's refund policy.

6. Re-confirm to be sure if the school offering the theology course is an approved DLI and can guarantee you a PGWP to avoid sympathizer's empathy.

7. Work properly on your home ties

In all, the visa is still not guaranteed, but package your application well and leave it to the VO, as you will also leave the VO to your God.

Good luck!
I sent you pm boss!

I have decided to take my time to correct the rife practices of my fellow countrymen, regarding the common mistakes they make in their statement of purpose: I have reviewed much numbers of SOP and I could discern what is ubiquitous, therefore the necessity I have laid on myself for this selfless address. Aside the tips I have benevolently stated on this forum, I see the need to be of adequate assistance to as much as possible numbers of persons who will appreciate this kindness, by adhering to these corrections.
So, I will list out these ‘common mistakes’, then point out the bloopers:

UNNCESSARY PIECE OF INFORMATION: Although this is not only practiced among Nigerians (I have sighted this fault in other nationality citizens as well.); we tend to state things that are completely irrelevant to our application. A Nairalander once sent me his SOP, before he did; he was bravado of his piece, saying he only needed me to see how good he was. To cut the long story short, he sent me his SOP, and I was flabbergasted to see “I own an apple laptop valued $1,000, two iphones that worth $500 each, making $2,000. U of R is a good school, as they will help me look for Job when I graduate with first class. Canada is a good place where you earn a good standard of living, unlike Nigeria, where people live in poverty”. I stared for ten seconds, especially after considering how he had boasted of his SOP. “My people”, learn to stay on point, stop stating things that have nothing to do with your studies!

IT IS NOT ABOUT THE LENGTH BUT THE VALUE OF INFORMATION: This is mostly applicable to Nairalanders (the guy I used as an example above made use of 3 pages), you will hear something like “I wrote a superb SOP of 4 pages, three thousand words”, and when you read through their SOP; all you will see are piece of information that will shoot them in the leg: it is the value of details that matters, and not the lengthiness of a written/typed piece.

WRONG USAGE OF GRAMMERS: it could be funny sometimes while reading some SOP; many applicants turn to overnight Grammarians; then starts filling up their SOP with words that is completely inapplicable in a writing context; wrong usage of words, bad grammatical structure, counterfactual spellings, etc. They completely forget they could be communicating with a native speaker who might be familiar with these words and get irritated: Use the words you are familiar with, grammars are not mandatory, effective communication is.

I took 30 minutes of my precious time to write this short piece, and I hope it assist someone to attain his/her goal.

In case the sponsor is NOT your biological parents or sibling. Adequate proof of relationship including family tree must suffice. Lastly, invest your time and effort in writing a good study plan/SOP that would demonstrate that you're a genuine student with lawful purpose which is to study and depart Canada at the end of your authorized VISA.

All the best

If you seek my opinion, I would say I don't see the need of the co-sponsor in your application. Since the prime sponsor has already made a commitment of 4kcad towards your tuition fees and left with 21kCAD(5.8M) tuition balance as well as he has also gone ahead to deposit 10kcad into your account which is intended for your first year living expenses. In light of the above, the prime sponsor would be left with 3.2M after paying for your first year tuition and living expenses, which is still fine to an extent. Therefore, I would advise you take off the co-sponsor with 900k bank statement from your account and use your main sponsor.

All the best

Good day nairaland fam, please I need help from gurus here, just got a refusal and the 3 reasons where:
1. Insufficient funds to pay tuition for my the duration of my proposed program.
2. Insufficient funds to pay transportation cost to and from Canada for myself and any accompanying family member.
3. Insufficient funds to maintain myself without working in Canada.
I never knew this refusal can be so disheartening, gosh! embarassed lipsrsealed
Submitted online 17th July for MEng civil engineering, had a BEng in civil engineering with 2 years experience(self employed with CAC registration).
Tuition fee for entire program is 30k CAD (I already Paid 4k CAD tuition deposit)
Sponsor is elder brother with account balance covering entire tuition plus living expenses for a year. I did not include my personal account statement as at time of application due to a very low balance and inflow. Could it be just my account that is the problem?
PLEASE WHAT MAY BE WRONG WITH MY APPLICATION? I
SOMEBODY HELP! I NEED UR URGENT AND EXPERIENCED SUGGESTIONS. Thanks
Sorry on your refusal!

Did your sponsor show any form of commitment by paying the 4K CAD from his acct or transferring your living expenses to your acct?
