We are currently living in Goodluck Jonathan's government;
That's why I've been more focused on learning about GMB's govt which I was too young to know anything about.
But you drift a lot to the side of bias. It is really obvious nowadays. That dictatorial thread about Buhari is unwarranted, at least allow comments.
Moreso, you are very quick to jump to GEJ's defence without any substance.
Politics › Re: . by olapluto(m): 1:06pm On Feb 05, 2015
To be given a 2nd chance, there must be an admittance of incompetence and a promise to change things. GEJ and his boys have however said GEJ is the best thing to ever happen to Nigeria. He is the Obama, Mandela and Ghandi combined. Nigerians strongly disagree, and this election is a chance to voice out the disagreement.

INEC should distribute the cards. What is the meaning of awaiting collection? I respect you for saying the truth that many people are yet to collect. I will put the figures @50%.

If INEC achieves 80% of the total distribution, then we are good to go ..but I am not seeing it happen in 7 days. I am being realistic not necessarily pessimistic.

Do you care only about the APC states? ..Is INEC being partisan?

The OP begged us to play on points without advertising any candidate or party ..

Remember ..
Official figures as at Wednesday night was 67% collected. With the public holiday today and tommorrow, I expect collection to go up to around 73%. I am also happy you put a figure to it. If Inec achieves 80% of distribution, then elections are good to go. I will say 75% though. That will be a 9% goal to achieve. Not too much for 9 days since INEC chairman has promised to extend the collection to 13th Feb if need be.

An assignment, bro.

Walk around and interact with 50 different people and confirm if they have their PVC's. How will the people vote if they don't have voters card?

The INEC should be clear on their stance on whether people should use their temporary cards to vote or declare public holidays to ensure that every eligible Nigerian collects his voice. .
..or put the election on a future date to tie up loose ends.

Those are the options on ground.

We can not afford to toy with this lifetime decision.

21 cents.
INEC says the cards are all printed and only awaiting collection. APC state governors have declared today and tommorrow as public holidays for collection. My household have collected their PVCs and readying for 14th, although I know many people still yet to collect.
66% of voters have collected their PVCs. That is very commendable. If the figure can reach 75%, then I think INEC is good to go. I am sure that by Monday, most people in APC controlled states would have collected their PVCs.
Will there be any need for postponement again?

Frankly speaking, The INEC is not ready to handle this election. There are confirmed reports of disenfranchisement by political parties. They facts are true.

Prof. JEGA should as a matter of urgency address this issue that has become a pain in the bum.

Personally, I will love the elections to hold this February but the truth can not be swept under the carpet. I really wonder what the INEC has been doing since.

A shift is an option to get INEC ready but if they insist that they are, no one should complain about the aftermath of the elections.

My 4 cents.
Disenfranchisement in what way? I have not seen any proof of INEC favouring any political party. I dont think INEC can know the political affiliation of voters from the information on the voters card.
It is worthy of note that majority of analysts who go on TV to seek postponement are from the group that attended the national conference. Most of them are also Southerners. Only governing Northerner who's asked for postponement so far is the Adamawa state 'interim' governor.
Politics › Nairaland Opinion Needed- What Do You Think About Election Postponement? by olapluto(op): 11:17am On Feb 05, 2015
I do not see any reason for the elections to be postponed. However, I have my reservations regarding the card reader.
1. Does it run on batteries? How long do the batteries last or how will it be powered?
2. Have adhoc staffs being taught on how it works?
3. Is it fool proof?

These reasons do not warrant a shift in election date though. INEC also have NEVER hinted at postponement, although in 2011 it was shambles at the 1st attempt.
What do you think?
PS. stay on the topic and pls avoid talking about any candidate.

Stop sounding stupid. Where is the JV operator interest in your calculation? Or you think the Shells and Mobils of this world produce oil for free?

And if you must know, its actually better now than what it used to be under Obj. Under Obj, we averaged 350kbd theft per day. GEJ cleared the creeks to the point it is now.
If by 'JV' you mean joint ventures, then it makes no sense here. Oil is stolen, and sold in vessels and ships within the full glare of the navy.
It may interest you that the first lady might be involved in bunkering the 100k barrels. You cannot give GEJ praise for what he hasnt done, a problem that still persists.
GEJ is paying the militants billions (equivalent to thousands of barrel), yet oil is still being stolen. Paying a small thief to allow the big thief operate.

At 55 USD per barrel, 100,000 barrels = 5.5m dollars! per day
That is $2 Billion yearly! or 400 Billion naira per year.
Buhari cannot come early enough!

I'm sorry if I offend any Igbo by saying this. It seems as if Igbo youths and elders are prepared to truncate any progress Nigeria is making. Everytime there is a need to do a dirty job against Nigeria's democracy, there is always a willing Igbo man to lead.
1. Arthur Nzeribe as IBB's dirty jobber.
2. Daniel Kalu (Abacha's Youth rep.)
3. Max whatever (Jonathan's fruitless court case)
4. Solomon Chuks ( Jonathan's ploy to get illegal tenure elongation).
I fear that by the time Igbo presents a candidate for presidency, there will be abundant evidence to suggest distrusts.

Exactly what I said last week. Enough of waiting to be attacked. If you lose 50 soldiers in bombarding Sambisa, then thats better than losing 10 soldiers everytime BH attacks a big city.
PS. I think this is a ploy by Jonathan to win support for the elections. His strategy is to hype his security credentials just for election purposes.
Methink the election results are decided already though.

So why the fear for a debate? A debate is a competition between two or more contenders. GMB is all by himself over there, the guy de fear to talk near GEJ given the lacuna of knowledge difference between the learned GEJ and the daft, archaic, obsolete and outdated general.
Look my friend, go take a chill pill. Buhari is way above all these childish insinuations. What he did in Lagos this morning is more than that debate.
I believe Buhari will debate GEJ before the elections. Until then, I dont think you should rejoice in GEJ, whom you call learned, but is a 'disgrace to PhD holders'

Politics › Oba Of Lagos Warns AIG Mbu, Also Endorses Buhari by olapluto(op): 10:02am On Jan 31, 2015
Nobody can intimidate us, Oba of Lagos warns AIG Mbu
The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu 11, has warned the new Assistant Inspector of Police(AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Police Headquarters,Lagos, Mr Joseph Mbu to desist from any attempt to intimidate the people of Lagos as he earlier did in Rivers State, when he was police commissioner.
Akiolu gave the warning yesterday, while receiving the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate,General Muhammadu Buhari’s delegation in his palace.
The traditional ruler who urged people of Lagos to cooperate with security agencies, warned Mbu, saying: “Nobody can intimidate us. Let it be clear that Lagos is not Port Harcourt.”
“Though police redeployment is normal during elections, but any policeman that comes here to cause trouble will fail. I and my people will give him a matching order.”

He said police officers should not be partisan, adding that “police should do their constitutional role without bias.
He said: “I want to sound a word of warning to security agencies. If anybody comes here to come and cause trouble he will fail. Others have tried and failed. Sometimes back, someone (a police officer) was posted here and he attacked me and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I told him (police officer) he will fail and he did fail,” the monarch said.
He however urged the people of Lagos to cooperate with the security agencies for the general well-being of the state.
“I urged my people to cooperate with the police and the army to do their job. I want all my people to be peaceful and law-abiding. All shall be well with us,” he said.
The monarch said Lagos State has suffered under the PDP-led Federal Government since the return of civil rule in 1999. He described Buhari as an upright, honest and dedicated gentleman who meant well for the country.
“Lagos won’t ever lag behind again in the forthcoming dispensation. I know the ability of Buhari. He is very passionate about this country and he will deliver,”
he added.

Victory is closer home for the people's general. The crowd in Ibadan that lined the street for over 5km was enormous. Even Buhari could not believe it. At that moment, Buhari confessed. He knew he had won the elections and confessed that once the SW bloc keyed in, he was home and dry.
He capped this up with a dance! For people of understanding, I think Buhari now knows clearly that he has won.

Reno is a liar and very deceitful. I watched the Oyo state campaign (which happened yesterday 29th January) and not 15th January as you lied.
Also, Buhari only speaks about 3 things he will tackle:
1. Insecurity
2. Unemployment
3. Corruption.
These 3 things have been constant in ALL his campaign talks. That is a sign of a serious leader.
Unlike Jonathan:
1. We will introduce e-jails, e-fertilizers, etc
2. We will build Lagos-Ibadan expressway
3. We will build more almajiri schools etc. Watery statements from a president with 6 years experience.

When GEJ came to Ibadan and he couldnt fill up Mapo, I knew it was over for him. Imagine people lining up the road from Alakia airport, to Iwo road. I wonder what the campaign ground will be like.
This is the national appeal that wins the election. Forget the millions of votes, Buhari seems to have penetrated all parts of Nigeria.
