Takoro13: Hi bros, I prefer you tell us your opinion (if any) instead of the above. Yet I won't dispute your post bcs of it value sr. I must tell you I am not a practicing engineer/builder but keep on reading/following what people say/do on forum like here. I have read very well where 6" block moulding placed at 45 and I have this done on my site perfectly no single block was broked in the cause of setting it.
Oga Spyder post bellow can do me favor.
Thanks sr Well the question Op asked initially is about laying of block 6" or 5" and it has been answered perfect and accurately by a professional personnel which you quote and answered wrongly. Stay bless |

Takoro13: Hand moulding block: maintain 45 for 6inch and 60 for 5" To whom it may concern ! Pls let all knw Construction works is more than try and errors! We should all knw that Doctor can only kill a person at ago, but Builder/Engr can kill thousands at ago ( that's when building collapsed) Please let give chance to a professional when comes to any technical question. Though you Homeowners can also buttress or comprehend. Guess by adopting this system we won't mislead people. Thanks Good morning to you all have a wonderful day. |

vboss: Hello nairalanders, good morning. Please something has been troubling my mind. I'm currently constructing a three bedroom bungalow with concrete fascia ( parapet). The seasoned engineer handling the project refused to include any pillars on the foundation, saying there is no need.
For the past 2 hours I have been going through different pages of several projects here on this section of nairaland and I cannot say I'm not scared my foundation is without any form of pillars. I don't know if it's because he used 9" blocks on all outside walls.
Please I don't want my house to collapse. Please kindly let me know if there is anything I can still do. Or if the pillars can at this point be included. I'm scared please.
I just filled the foundation with sand. That's the stage the project is at currently. IN reference to your posted picture ! This foundation is faulty then prone to collapse Reason: The land prone to water looking at it from picture! The foundation depths Lastly the foundation heights may tends to collapse even at points of sand Filling and compacting , because the heights too much without having colomns it would be more better if u can add columns to some various points . And this should be done either you're using concrete fiscal or not ! |

Zino89: Engineers in the house please is this plan OK ? Well is not bad! Only observe the dinning, which may not be function as wish, because there's going to be kind of traffic around there ,after setting up the dining so may be you should bring the w/c around kitchen verandah. Then you can make use part of living room as dining area. |

you wrote that i need 3.1 tonne to 3 bags of cement for 100 blocks.... is this 3.1 tonne of sand or stone dust or both? 35 per bag is okay and clear, just need to clarify the other points. 3.1tonne of sand or stone dust depends on your choice, preferably you can use the combination of the two! |

Timtol: Sorry!8 But I don't understand you. Anyway the question is very simple! In relation to Op question Good evening guys, please i wanto know, if i have land i want to build on, and i wanto start building, i have artitecural plan already,....is it a building contractor i need to handle the construction, laborers , buulding materials, etc or a site manager. Please help out Guess you knw each an very professionals has there primary area of specialization. Which we all knw. eg ARCHITECTS to provide Architectural Drawings (building plan) STRUCTURAL ENGR and CO also provide their's . While all these still look meaningless in the eye of the CLIENT Where BUILDER'S now coming to translate all the IMAGINARY information on paper to REALITY. Now if Builder is nt available to build then others can now come in, that's as an OPTIONS then to them is secondary assignments Means attache! So for you builders are not to see an OPTIONS Here we are let always be sincere to question we answered, so that we won't mislead people |

Rubbiish: If u are molding with machine like op said, i don't think there is much difference in cost. @bold i think it is actually the opposite, u buy blocks to avoid delay, molding do take sometime About the cost truly the difference is not much which have expressed above ! Then about the time if Your project is schedule with PROFESSIONAL METHODOLOGY and having a projects required such amount of block has op said. ON site production With machine is the best! For best quality To maintain the time schedule intact! |

megacontrol: Hello all,
What is the estimated cost savings per block in molding blocks on site vs purchasing specially made blocks? For the sake of analysis, lets say we need 20k (twenty thousand) blocks and space is available on site to stack it....
1) What is the best unit cost (and savings) we can achieve if we mold compared to buying from the market at btw N200-N220 per block?
2) What are the materials required and quantities to mold 20,000 pieces of 9" blocks on site?
edit: Machine will be used for the molding due to qty required (over 20k) and to get good quality.
Thanks for your contributions. **Primarily why molding block ;1 For us to have good qualities 2. To avoid delay 3. Maybe to save little cost etc. Now Firstly; Is good you mold it on site to get good quality ,because if you're to buy of standard it would cost you more infact you may not see it at the range of 200 or 220 .Though region determines. 2nd on materials ; You need like 3.1tonne to 3bags of cement for 100blcks. 35 per bag Cost you 19,000 to 20,000 Then if you're to buy of the same quality you mold @ rate of 220 to 250 . |

Dubemcapital1: With due respect sir, A builder is a Contractor whose job is to construct a civil structure BY employing a necessary workforce : 1. Engineer 2. Workmen (skilled) 3. Labourers (unskilled) 4. Materials 5. Other resources.
But a civil engineer is someone who has acquired knowledge of designing, constructing and maintenance of a structure.
Therefore, just as homeowners, a builder hires an engineer to aid his work with technical or professional aspects.
So, by implication, a civil engineer can be a builder but a builder is not an engineer.
Howbeit, a builder's job description does not include the bone of contention
Thanks
Dubemcapital Pls dnt get your words twisted ! For the fact that building Construction is a team work, let all knw there's area of specialization for each and every professionals in building industries. In the list of 7keys from client which come up with brief ,then Architect incorporates that into drawings also Qs and other Engr's work all with Architectural drawings. *Qs produce Boq. *Engrs produces drawings documents. e.g structural and electrical drawings. *Then Builders produced Building. Notes: All professional work interchangeable dosen't make a builder an Engr and Engr as a builder With due respect sir, A builder is a Contractor whose job is to construct a civil structure (author=Dubemcapital) Which you're very correct! As a builder you know your work ,construction of building and maintenance with [building economy( only diff btw civil engr and builders(author=Rotech77) Mind you pharmacist would never take work of Medical Doctors. What now happen in building industries? |
