Celebrities › Re: Wizkid Agrees With Naira Marley That His Legwork is Bigger Than Headies by Olodo24: 3:10pm On Oct 20, 2019
The Headies can be shitty with their choice of winners but it's not enough reason for artists to knock them down. Wizkid has won more than 5 awards there.

This was how AMAA also lost relevance. Nigerian actors got mad that their nonsense films weren't winning anything and started boycotting the award

Headies finally died kpatakpata.

This is a travesty.... How much did Don Jazzy pay?

Don. Jazzy's sugar boy-lover won over Joeboy and Fireboy + Victor AD

If going by your points, Kiss Daniel should have won that year. That year and till now, none of the nominees is more creative, have more hits compare to Kizz.
Kiss Daniel was the best alternative to Reekado Banks but Reeky still made a deserving winner. However, the worst case of Next Rated remains Sean Tizzle. 2013 had the second most competitive Next Rated line-up in the history of Headies (the Wizkid year remains the most competitive for me) as we had Burna Boy, Phyno, Seyi Shay and Dammy Krane and the least deserving Tizzle won. That was an embarrassing win. They should better not create such mess tonight

I am not really a Zlatan fan but he has had more hits.

He deserves that award more than anyone on the list, no one should come close.
the award is supposed to be based on achievement in creativity and not biggest hits maker. It is this hit factor that made some people root for Lil Kesh so seriously when Reekado Banks only got what he truly deserved.

Grammys is also based on votes.
voting makes it more credible.
they don't involve the public in voting. That's my point

sure. They still have undeserving winners. Just that the case gets worse with public voting

the public don't vote. They have board members who do the voting just like Oscars

Did you Vote?
Don't you know that the headies award is based on voting.
The person with the highest votes wins each category.
you can't just sit in the comfort of your house and finalise who should win any category of the award when you didn't even vote.

Scam my ass.
why should a supposedly most prestigious music award in Nigeria involve public? That alone makes them lose credibility. You don't see that at the Grammys. That's supposed to be for a lower rated award but Headies is at the top in Nigeria.

he deserves nothing. It's such a bad day when Dumebi is considered as one of the best songs of the year. That song is empty lyrically and the melody sef na zero. As for Next Rated, Fireboy, Joeboy and Victor AD are way more deserving

some people will just sit down there and be criticizing actors like say e easy undecided

those actors are made and recognize globally... not everyone gets to win everything biko undecided
this is one Nigerian mentality that needs to stop.

Always quick to remind us how successful criticised artists are. Most of the Hollywood stars we worship here are considered 70% bad in the US.

I'm a member of at least 8 popular American blogs, forums and regular news sites. People on those platforms say their minds without getting reminded about achievements whatsoever. People criticise and go. The case is different in Nigeria

sorry but that's bull...
His performance in pursuit of happiness,Alli, Concussion were top notch and he was nominated for Oscars in those roles....
Must be everybody win Oscar?
....you don't have to win an Oscar to be a good actor
His last big movies like Alladin, focus, suicide squad did quite well at the box office too so where are the flops you're talking about?
he only got a Golden Globe nomination for Concussion.

LMAO same logic I have against some of my peeps. They don't like downloading but want someone to share them movies for free grin

Both at home and work place I've been turned into a walking digital Cinema warehouse cos of my crazy amount of movie Downloads.

I am now seen as an obsessive compulsive movie Geek. I am even now averse to acquaintances approaching me cos 80% of the time is how I'll share them movies or whether I got / know any latest film. angry It's kinda annoying since DATA is pretty CHEAP these days!!
it seems we're in the same boat. Nigerians and their I must get it for free mentality. Most people around me has turned me into a cinema hall. They don't want to download with their data and when I say no, they'll say ordinary film

Raalsalghul:
I'm telling you bro.

He needs to start going for smaller artsy films that'll emphasize his acting chops: and some supporting roles too.

This "I look cool leading man in Blockbusters" image from him has been done for.

He can learn a few things from Denzel.
I like Will Smith cos he's 100% likeable. But he's not a great actor and he's got the biggest pride in that industry. He picks mostly easy leading man roles. I won't be surprised when Daniel Kaluuya or even the yet to be nominated Michael B Jordan wins an Oscar before Will Smith (it even looks like Smith will never win it). Smith's selling point used to be his box office power and that is sinking badly.

He lacks the chops to shine in indie fares like his peers like Denzel, Jamie, Samuel and even the way younger John David, Kaluuya and Jordan
