Was buhari elected to curb vote buying or to improve the economy?

Refineries
Electricity
Agriculture
Security
Welfare etc

Why didn't he change the currency to curb vote buying when he was on the ballot for election in 2019?

Or is he saying that he just got to know that vote buying exists?

It just smacks of gross ingratitude on one hand and hypocrisy on the other.

This is a silly sacrifice to say the least. I saw a lots of people queuing at the ATM terminals just few minutes ago. They are not even sure if they will be able to get cash from the ATM at all

Between Thursday and Friday yesterday, from Ogunlana drive, Surulere to Mushin to Ilupeju, there was no new notes in the ATMs of all the banks that I went to.
I could only get the new notes today when I went to Victoria Island...and the pressure was less over there because today is a non-working day, so fewer people at the very few ATMs that were dispensing.

If this is happening in Lagos, what would be happening in the hinterlands - villages and towns?

This is just like cutting off the head because you have a headache.

Jagaban, I am voting for you out of pure love and I know you are not perfect neither am I. I am looking for a person who can gather men and women who are not politicians together, I am looking for a man who is not going to gather people from his tribe alone. I am looking for a man who can do things and take decision alone. I looked at your past record and I discovered that you took some giant steps to proof that you can do things differently. Many people in different unit are working today bcoz you did something then: from Lastma, to Neighborhood watch, KAI, LG, etc. You are not perfect though but who is perfect? I am not but I am praying that God will give the grace to become that perfect man that God want me to be. Lastly, God will bless our beloved nation. God bless Nigeria

Nice post, sir!

Truly, nobody is perfect! Even Jesus Christ who knew no sin emphasized that when he told the Pharisees that they should cast the 1st stone at the lady caught in adultery if none of them had ever sinned before.
One by one, they dropped their stones and left.... because NONE OF THEM was PERFECT!

Honestly, I just laugh when I see people on this forum claim that new Naira notes will stop vote buying by Tinubu.

It simply shows that it's either they are just plain ignorant or grossly unexposed to the lifestyle and activities of the rich and wealthy in this country.

I can assure them that anybody who has over N100 million up to billions in cash with an account or accounts in any bank in Nigeria or has stake to such value in those banks will have direct access to new notes before you and I.

I speak from experience, having worked directly and at different times, with 2 different multi-billionaires in Lagos during my days of paid employment.

And these multi-billionaires are just businessmen, not top politicians like Tinubu who know not just businessmen, but have Governors and Senators at their beck and call.

Hmm... it's happening.

When you cancel an invitation to a president because of his policy...nkan be!

There's no sugar coating it...this is a brutal smackdown from Mr Ganduje.

Power is drifting away from Buhari and some Governors are now bold enough to rebuff him.

How can a President inflict so much pain on hundreds of millions of people simply to satisfy his own petty and vindictive political purpose of turning the populace against his party so that his party's candidate can lose an election.

I haven't been able to withdraw money for 2 days now. ATM after ATM, there is no money. I can't imagine the suffering of millions up and down the country.

All for what? To satisfy the egotistic complex of an undemocratic leader.

Millions of otherwise apolitical people, including myself, who never got involved in politics supported you in 2014/2015 against all advice that you are a cold and vindictive individual. I gave you the benefit of the doubt. But with your latest actions of punishing millions in order to further your personal vindictive interest, you have proved yourself to be exactly what people said about you all these years.

Thank you so much, sir!

You really hit the nail on the head.

I haven't seen any administration that politicizes everything like this Buhari administration. I never voted for him...thank God for that.

In fact, I haven't voted in any presidential election before but I will be voting for Tinubu next month. He will do better than Buhari in governance.

Nigerians like to act stubborn until they realize they can't beat the government. The same thing happened with NIN, the obedient ones did for free but the stubborn ones paid money to get NIN. I really hope CBN won't extend the deadline. 3 months is enough to take ur money to the bank and what's even wrong with transfer? You don't need to have 200k cash at hand. Use Mobile app, USSD etc. I so much love this new policy.

Can't you people understand the problem here?!

The problem here is not people depositing old notes..THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE BANKS DON'T HAVE NEW NOTES TO DISPENSE TO NIGERIANS... THAT'S THE PROBLEM!

Today, From Mushin to Ilupeju, the bank ATMs aren't dispensing and they say the reason is that they are still expecting the new notes from CBN, as at 10-11am this morning.
Yesterday, the 3 Access Bank branches on Ogunlana drive Surulere didn't have money in their ATMs, likewise GTB at Masha roundabout.

Bros...have you gone to the market before to buy tomatoes, pepper, etc?
Have you entered a bus or public transport before?
Will you tell Iya Risi, the food seller at the market that you should transfer money to her account?
Will you tell Kazeem or Johnbull the bus driver or conductor that you will transfer N100 to him for the transport fare?
Will you tell your vulcanizer to give you his account number to transfer N200 to him for pumping your tyre?
Haven't you done a transfer and the transaction hung & you couldn't get the goods or services you want to pay for?

Will you tell me that within these 26 days of 2023, you have never had a reason to have to spend cash?

Let's call a spade a spade! Elections will come and go. There is life after elections! This naira re-design is simply a policy somersault. If all the banks in the whole of Ilupeju axis from GTB to Access to Zenith to UBA to Heritage to Sterling bank, etc don't have the new notes as at 10am this morning, doesn't that tell you that there's a crisis brewing?
All in the name of stopping vote buying?

Like I have said before, the politicians and the rich people in this country will never lack new Naira notes...it's only people like us that will lack it. The banks will give the rich and wealthy the new notes before you and I because the money those people have in their bank accounts is what keeps the banks afloat.

Hehe he. See as this thing just dey go. Take this guy out before he becomes the monster that you will not be able to handle.

Currently he is doing enough damage in the AE with his sit-at-home rule and his UGM boys intimidating and murdering people across the South East.

You may not need to blame all of them. There are some who understands the negative implications of this and would hope earnestly in their hearts that it stops.

Now about the ones who would love this to continue, it is actually borne of a vengeful mindset. When Boko Haram was ravaging the North, majority were mocking the Northerners but a few knew that this was not right because as Yorùbás will say, "the nose should not rejoice at the eyes getting into trouble for whatever affects the eyes will soon affect the nose in a matter of time".

The people who mock the SE now see it as payback time for the mockery they too received. But if one is to take an eye for an eye, the whole world will soon go blind. When Sunday Igboho began his, although less forcefully, I prayed that it will stop soon because there are bad people that will turn it into something else and then before you know it, the hero becomes the villain. I guess Yoruba elders saw this and diplomatically handled it - for now, the struggle should be diplomatic so that saboteurs will not have any rubbish to hide under.

Immaturity is what makes someone to mock his next door neighbour burning house rather than help to douse the fire because his own house could be next in the conflagration.

Well said...so succinctly put!

Well done!

The only reason Peter Obi can win this election is if he is able to enlighten the people well enough to think independently before February 25th.

Unfortunately, given the large population of unenlightened Nigerians from the north, it will be hard to achieve that because the region has used religion to keep its people in a state where they cannot think for themselves.

Until Peter Obi is able to enlighten all Nigerians, don't be deceived, structure plays a big role in Nigérian politics.

Sir, sorry to burst your bubble.

I'm enlightened (you can check my profile for details) and I'm voting for Tinubu and will never vote for Obi on the basis of competence, bigotry and nepotism.

It will shock you to know that there are many people enlightened people like me
in my construction sector and even family, with whom I have had extensive discussions about this forthcoming election, who will vote Tinubu in election day.

Just yesterday after church, I was discussing with my brother-in-law who is an IT professional & attends Daystar Christian Center...he has so many issues with Obi's candidacy just like I and many others do. He told me that Tinubu is looking like the best option for him. He lamented the curses and abuses that people who don't support Obi are receiving online.

Well, that isn't really news, though. Elections will come and go...all of us will continue with our lives. Those who have curses and abuses others will receive their reward at the hand of the Lord God when their time is up.

I will not go into more details here because this is Monday morning but I just decided to make this statement to disprove the fallacy that only illiterates and wretched people are voting for Tinubu.

Nigeria cannot afford the opportunity of missing the ingenuity of Tinubu. Obasanjo knows this. Till date, Obasanjo remains the best president in the history of Nigeria as military and as civilian but he cannot meet the ingenuity of Tinubu because already MKO is gone.

I attended university in IBO land several years ago where I spent 6 years. We have different WhatsApp and Facebook groups. Since last year June till November last year, I received a lot of propaganda messages up to 100 messages cumulatively of false and misleading messages about Tinubu and APC daily.

This year, they have resumed again. Few hours ago, I got another propaganda which I know has been forwarded to some people on nairaland. They said the message is from Pastor OYEDEPO. Papa is never addressed as Pastor. He is addressed as Bishop or Apostle over this commission (Winners Chapel) or Papa.

In the message, they said APC is sending free Airtime Vouchers to people in order to obtain the Biometric information of the people so as to duplicate peoples PVC for rigging and the message is signed and sent by Pastor Oyedepo. Most of us from the South West and North that attended University in IBO land can never be surprised at this not well composed propaganda.

You can screenshot the message and blur out any personal information and post it here for us to see. Campaigns should be based on truth and not propaganda.
To make matters worse, people using the name of men of God to advance the propaganda are just heaping curses upon themselves.
