This is why I now tell people to look for Nigerian used cars imported between 2018 and 2022 to buy. Due to the rise in exchange rate, most dealers now buy the worst possible vehicles at the cheapest prices they can get.

Hmmmm...Nigerians and their dubious, fraudulent ways!! shocked shocked

both cars a so identical and very close. Though civic trumps a bit in the fuel economy department, also the hatch design of the civic gives it an outward appeal compared to corolla.

Though user reviews talk about oil dilution in the 1.5L turbo engine of the civic especially frequent city drives. Apart from that, your choices are topnotch

Thanks so much for your comments, sir...God bless you!

I have read about that oil dilution issue but some say that it occurs as a result of the cold climate in the West and it may be less of an issue over here due to our weather.

What's your opinion about that, sir?

Most of these Schools abroad are scams. They do not teach the students to be ready for the industry.

I was checking the curriculum for one school in the UK and was shocked that they were still teaching a technology already retired by Microsoft.

As odd as it may sound, why don't you pay for all these online courses, study hard, within few months, you would have upskilled in specific area, more than you would achieve in these universities. Even save lot of money in the process.

Ask most of the students that graduated from the UK Universities this September, most cannot compete globally as they only wasted millions of naira to enter into the complex, expensive route leading to citizenship, and NOT learning or gaining anything in the process. They outsourced their assignments to other people in Nigeria, and this explains why most are doing care jobs despite graduating as so-called techies. If assessment is based on exam, most will not even graduate, but lucky them, it is mostly assignments.

They can never be employed in tech. They are so much aware of that.

After upskilling, post your CV online, especially linkedln and start having interviews. You will enter into these countries tech market as a talent, rather than a long, endless, expensive chase for a citizenship.

The best and wisest post that I have seen on this thread so far!

Please tell them oooo!

I was paying 10k a month for my router that provides internet for the entire house.

With my fire stick I get to watch all the latest movies, TV shows and other content that dstv can only dream about.

That's the same router my wife uses to browse on her phone too. As long as one isn't jobless, you aren't expected to watch TV the whole day.

Imagine paying 12k to watch Rambo. Nigerians are getting ripped off badly simply because we want to watch football lol.

At the bolded... please tell them!

Some people here are complaining about how much they will have to spend on internet subscription to watch TV in a month, as if they will watch TV 24/7 all through the month.

Only a jobless person would do that. Before May when I stopped subscribing for DSTV, we only watched the DSTV from 7 or 8pm on week days while on weekends, from 11am because the children were at home.

Any serious Nigerian can go without watching DStv for at least 6 months.

Nigerians have permitted this monopoly and oppression to go on for too long.

I have dumped DSTV completely since May when they increased Compact subscription to N10,500.

Funny enough, even my children who spent the most time on DSTV watching cartoons have moved on. They are content watching those same cartoons, even recent and current episodes on YouTube.

It's been 6 months now and they have never complained.

Smart TV, IPTV and Set top boxes are king now. I plan to get a Mi Box before the end of the year.

DSTV is gone for good for us. They have been calling me to subscribe for 1 month and get another month free...the best I do is just answer their calls and after that, ignore them 😆😆😆

You people are funny.

Listen, America cannot do shit in our local elections and politics. The best they can do is finance parties they want their candidates to fix or issue visa bans on people they don't like. Bros, Nigeria is called a sovereign country for a reason.

Just anyone can win elections in Nigeria. What you need is to belong to a party, pay a lot of money for ads, pay people to sell you to their people, have a lot of money to spend, be willing to buy votes, and tour round the country to campaign for votes.

Believe it when politicians say that power belongs to God. That's exactly what it is. If some people sit back and determine who becomes the president of Nigeria, nobody woul be wasting their hard-earned money do all those things I mentioned up there.

Again, politicians become jittery when elections approach. For instance, they start roasting corns, going to the market and doing a lot of silly things. Even Sanwo-Olu became an usher in church and start fixing phones at Computer Village because he wanted people's votes. If someone determines the next leader of a country or state, nobody would be wasting their efforts, time and resources trying to convince people to vote for them.

Don't let anyone fool you. Nobody knows who will be the next leader of a state or the president of Nigeria. That's why politicians keep saying structure. The structure in Kano cannot influence the structure in Lagos or Rivers. In summary, elections are unpredictable in Nigeria and nobody brokers power. It's entirely based on efforts, sellability, influence, resources and luck.

It's been quite a while that I commented on Nairaland, but I just had to comment on your post!

What you said up there is the gospel truth!

At that time, it was the 2nd best camp in the whole of Nigeria!

Nigeria has an agreement with Niger to supply them electricity in exchange for Niger not damming the Niger river.
If Niger dams the river Niger for electricity and irrigation purposes, we will be the ones needing to buy light from them, besides our farming will be affected.
Nigeria, sanctioning Niger with electricity despite the agreement has shown we are not reliable. In this case, it will not be out of place Niger makes it a policy to dam the Niger river once they attain stability.

Niger as it is presently, doesn't have any wherewithal anywhere to build a dam across the river Niger.
Even Nigeria as at today will not be able to fund the construction of a dam except they take loans from international sources or as usual, ask China to build the dam and they pay back over the years.
Building a dam in this present day no be beans or akara...even for a country like Nigeria, talk less of Niger that is owing Nigeria millions of dollars for electricity we have supplied them...take it from me as a construction cost professional.

Point of correction...the US is bigger than India and similar in size to China.

Some japa stories intrigue me because they are done by people who were doing reasonably well in Naija and not suffering at all. They never let you in on their plans but once they get there, you start receiving text messages about their relocation and texts soliciting prayers for their success in the new land.

I don't have a problem with being left in the dark about their relocation plans or praying for them, but don't try to turn me into a prayer warrior on top of your issues. One friend is in the habit of constantly badgering you about prayers, in the course of a conversation she will say stuff like - that is one more thing you should be praying for, for me, as if you owe her a duty of prayers.

Another whose hubby worked as a senior manager in a good firm and she in a federal agency, with a thriving cake business on the side japa-ed too. She took a leave of absence at work but is actively job searching in the UK now. When she mentioned the leave of absence I told her point blank no dey whine yourself, do you honestly think your hubby will let you return to that job and leave him with 3 kids in the UK? You better focus on your new life there and finding a job because your old life as you knew it is over.

And boy was her cake business good, she even diversified into pastries, small chops and a bit of chinese cuisine. The things we give up for this japa dream ehn, I hope and pray it all works out for good. I read online that in our quest for something better we don't even take the time to enjoy the good things we already have, we are always fixated on something better.

So well said!

Just like they usually say, a word is enough for the wise!

I hope some people will learn from your wise words and this wonderful thread.

Ibos are the masters of propaganda. It’s in their DNA, they’ve been employing that tactic since the civil war to the point they are incapable of dealing with reality. They say a lie so often the lines between truth and fantasy are blurred. They themselves start to believe the lies. It’s why they never succeed politically. They are like a woman who has been told all her life by her friends and family that she is very beautiful and desirable. and continues to tell herself till her 30s, 40s and 50s that she is indeed very desirable , despite the reality that no suitors are queuing up to woo her and those who do don’t desire her for serious relationships. . At 50 it is too late to deal with her reality so she continues with the self deceit. That is the story of the Ibo man and his penchant for propaganda and deceit, It is a coping mechanism that helps them justify the rot they are in politically and prevents them from dealing with their reality. The same way they told their children lies about the civil war to cushion their egos from defeat, lies that have now become “facts”.

Why are they like this you ask? To answer that you have to u derstand the psyche of the average Ibo. They are very proud people and driven by ego and success. It’s what drives them to be successful at all costs but it’s also why they can’t handle defeat well. Defeat is seen as an affront to the ego and pride of an Ibo. They can’t handle it well, so the narrative when they are defeated is to spin a story of cheating, victimization etc. note not all Ibos are this way but it is the character that is prevalent….especially those from certain states particularly Anambra!!! The trait that makes an Ibo ma. Successful is also his Achilles heel In Politics.. you can bulldoze your way in business but you cannot force your way in human interaction. That’s is the mistake the Ibo continuously make in politics. Business is about conquering, politics is about concessions.
