Russia troops completed withdrew from that town on March 31 as a part of the Turkish President peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, Russia moved their troops from Kyiv to East Ukraine as Russia want to get Odessa port from Ukraine.
Ukraine troops took over the town immediately but waited 2 more days to show dead people on the street? Like seriously?
I bet you believe Saddam has WMD and Assad used gases on rebels in south Damascus when he already crushed them to small
While one cannot totally dismiss the claims of the Ukrainians, there's a need to conduct an independent investigation, by countries that are neutral in this war.

Having said that, the Ukrainians will do anything to demonize the Russians. It's the only way they can continue to generate sympathy from citizens of US/UK and EU.
It's also the only way US/UK and EU can continue to justify their senseless shipment of weapons to Ukraine, to their citizens.

I am sure they are disappointed that Russia did not invade Kiev, as the western media would have had a field day reporting exaggerated civilians casualties, which they US/UK and EU need to justify their involvement, and whatever hardship their citizens are going through.

Putin did not fall into that trap.

The Cuban missile crisis is more than what u know.
USA actually secretly met with soviet union and agreed to remove their missiles from turkey in return soviet union will remove their missile from cuba.
The issue was resolved diplomatically. Forget the threat and noise from Kennedy.

What diplomatic steps has Putin taken to resolve this Ukraine problem other than creating more mess on top of greater mess.
I am not pro Putin, but rather pro multi polar world. Russia and China are the two countries that can offer that, since the other permanent members of the UN security council are US sidekicks.

I have said this several times, no matter the number of civilians killed (sadly) in this war, it would still be resolved through diplomacy. So why allow it get to that. NATO have stated several times that they would not intervene directly, so why allow this madness continue. Are they waiting for the Ukrainian army to defeat Russia on its own with all the weapons they are sending? That is not going to happen.

How many more Ukrainian civilians have to die before they all sit down and put a stop to this madness.

Note that it's Russian soldiers that are dying o! How I wish it's only Ukrainian soldiers too that are dying.

Some people said talking to Putin is appeasement, so , short of NATO invading Russia and taking Putin out(highly unlikely), what then is the way out?

Must they sacrifice all of Ukraine before they are all satisfied?

Please note, the US did not wage a conventional war against Cuba (for the record, I am not in support of the embargo to stop Cuba from being a communist country just 80 miles from America's shores) But your comments states unilateral and I think every country should be able to determine with whom they want to do business with. I am sure you will not be okay doing business with Hitler during WW2. The same unilateral sanctions against Venezuela that is ruled by dictators just like Ortega (of Nicaragua) who has been in power for 30 odd years. )
Are you aware that since 1992, the UN general assembly has voted in favour of that embargo to be lifted every year. The US, to date has ignored the resolution.I ask again is that rule of law?Is that democracy? You need to find out the pain that embargo has inflicted and it's still inflicting on Cubans

We blame our government everyday for not obeying rule of law, yet we are quick to defend US, whenever they do same.

Is the US the same as the UN, they (US)decide which one is dictatorship and which one is not.

Is democracy practiced in Saudi Arabia, NO, but it's okay by US, since they are their allies.

It's because Russia has failed in the aspect of diplomacy, they should have drawn those
neighbouring nations (the likes of Ukraine, Georgia, Latvia, Poland etc) closer by contributing majorly to their development or by offering them better deals that would be beneficial to both economies, instead of trying to impose fear on them. Don't forget that these countries are sovereign nations that retain the right to associate or do business with whoever they deemed fit.

The USA have seized the initiative, via the NATO umbrella.

Might without diplomacy (which requires collective wisdom) is vanity.
My brother, is that the same diplomacy the US is applying to Cuba, Venezuela and other unfriendly countries in their sphere of influence.

Cubans have suffered the most in the hands of the US. How can you place a unilateral embargo on a sovereign country for decades? What about the unilateral sanctions placed on Venezuela?

Who's going to rescue those countries, or sovereignty does not apply to them?

The US has its Monroe Doctrine and will not allow any Russian influence in the western hemisphere as evidenced in the Cuban Crisis of 1962 but has no qualms about going into Russian areas of influence. Putin has been voicing his opposition to US and NATO encroachment in his traditional areas of influence for years and has largely been ignored. The result now is this war. I have always known that the US and NATO's plan of isolating Russia would be costly and dangerous.
.

Don't mind the hypocrites and their supporters.
They tell you Putin is a dictator, yet Biden that's not a dictator is trying to force all other countries to condemn Russia, by hook or by crook.
I thought democracy is about choice, how come US would not allow other countries to make their choice and decision in this crisis.
They have threatened China, India, Pakistan and so many others. Is that democracy.

A country would unilaterally sanction another country, and then threaten every other country not to go against the sanction, or face consequences. Is that rule of law?

Where is the place of the UN, oh! I almost forgot, they control what happens at the UN, but Russia and China veto would not allow them to always have their way.

While so many countries are talking about finding a solution to the crisis, they are hell bent on escalating it, after all, Putin is their target.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. For those praising the US, a time would come, when they'll start calling for regime change in countries that are not ready to implement their LGTB nonsense. Our eyes go clear that time.

The only thing that's curbing it a little for now is the fact that Russia and China have veto power at the UN, but by the time they are able to destroy those two countries, if allowed, then I feel sorry for Africans and Middle East countries.

I guess you are being emotional too. While Putin is not a saint , the countries behind Zelensky are no saints either.

How you guys always find it convenient to neglect the security concerns of Russia baffles me.

How come Russia did not try to grab Ukraine before its(Ukraine) romance with NATO started, or Russia was not aware there was oil in the country before then.

For Zelensky to be aware of the motivation of the west, yet still chose to sacrifice his country and people, shows he's a foolish, wicked and selfish man.

Whether anyone likes it or not, this war will eventually be resolved through negotiations, but at what cost, to Ukraine in particular.

The so called sanctions to cripple Russia's economy is affecting everybody, and only time will tell if the Citizens of US/UK and EU are ready to suffer for the sake of Ukraine.

Russia has been destroying their cities in the middle of peace talks. Bombing hospitals, apartment buildings, schools, shopping malls, and killing thousands of civilians. Yet Ukraine doesn't have the right to bomb a fuel depot with zero casualties? Russia started this war and one of the consequences of war is that the people you're fighting will fight back. Don't start a war if you don't want that. Russia is the aggressor here.

Because of Russia, millions of civilians have fled Ukraine and their economy is basically destroyed for the foreseeable future. The effect of the West's sanctions on Russians are nothing in comparison. Their civilians are living in comfort. The currency dropped a little bit. It's not fair.
The fact that it's Ukrainian civilians that are dying in this war, is the more reason Zelensky should be more interested in deescalation.

US/UK and EU civilians are safe and they are encouraging him to escalate the war, just because, according to them, they want to cripple Russia's economy.

Zelensky is safe in the bunker with his family, while majority of his people are not so fortunate.

It's time for sincere negotiation and deescalation, rather than all this grandstanding, and calling for more weapons.

Anytime I see some people referring to Putin as 'mumu', I always smile. I make bold to say, that man is arguably the most intelligent leader in the world.

As much as I feel sorry for the civilians that have lost their lives in Ukraine, I believe Russia would have suffered more on the long run, if they had allowed NATO to set up bases in Ukraine.

From the desperation of the U.S since this invasion started, it's quite obvious Russia has beaten them at their own game.

I guess the European countries are beginning to take note of Biden's choice of words. While countries like France and Germany are still talking to Putin, to try and de escalate the situation, old man Biden has called Putin 'a war criminal', 'a butcher' and now he has openly called for regime change in Russia.

Isn't it obvious that the US is adding fuel to fire in this crisis now. And they are doing this for selfish interest.
If Biden continue along this path of making it difficult for France and Germany to de escalate this crisis, I see a situation where they will abandon the sanctions placed on Russia. The sanctions are biting all of them anyway.

As long as Russia can continue to avoid huge loss of civilians lives. I believe one of the reasons Russia does not want to invade Kiev and other major cities anymore,is that it would result in huge loss of civilians lives. This would give their enemies weapons to use against them, when you consider the fact that they, the western media control the narratives of this war.

You can imagine the outrage, headlines like 'RUSSIAN BOMB KILLS 2000 CIVILIANS IN KIEV' would generate across the world.
Putin is aware that's what the US and their allies want him to do, that's why they continue to taunt him that he has not taken any major city.

The invasion of Ukraine in itself is bad enough, I don't think Putin wants to cause more problems for Russia, by invading Kiev. He can find a way to justify what he's doing in Donbas, but their can never be any justification for invading Kiev.

That's a trap I'm not sure he'll fall into, because at the point where you have bombs killing like 2000 civilians in Kiev, even countries that are neutral now will have no choice than to distance them self from Russia.

There is serious mistrust amongst Russians and the Western world, especially Americans. That's why in most Hollywood movies, Russians are most times portrayed as the bad guys. It's possible that's the way Russians too portray Americans in their movies.

While there will be some who are not happy with Putin, I am sure majority will be behind him. Afterall, I am sure not all Americans too will agree with the way Biden is handling this issue.

Foreign AffairsRe: ukraine Reclaims Irpin. Launches Counter Attacks In Kherson & Kyiv by oluobi(m):
Meninmen:
Kiev and Zelensky has always been the target. Let me explain.

What was Russia's reason for invading Ukraine? Ukraine was planning to join Nato which will increase the Eastward expansion of NATO. Who is spearheading Ukraine's Ascension to NATO? Zelensky, who is the president of Ukraine and heavily Pro-west. Russia or Putin has no influence over Zelensky. So Russia decided to prevent that from happening by invading Ukraine. So, what do you think will be their objective? It's simple. Get Kiev, depose Zelensky and install a puppet govt that wouldn't take Ukraine into NATO. Simple! That is the objective of Russia invading ukraine.

You talked about fighting going on in Donbass area. Actually, fighting is going on in many Ukrainian cities. The strategy of Russia is to encirce Kiev and cut if off from other Ukrainian cities. That way, there will be no supplies into Kiev. And then, a major offensive on Kiev. That's the strategy.

If taking Kiev was never part of Russia's plan, why are they still bombarding Ukrainian cities? Why is the war still on going? Why are they trying to advance into Kiev? They are still fighting because they have not met their objective which is to capture the seat of govt and install a puppet govt.

Study this map below. You will notice the the Russia forces are trying to advance towards Kiev and at the same time trying to encirce the city.
Thanks for your detailed response.

Let me state here for the record, that I am not a military analyst, but I have read articles written by 3 military analysts(Bill Roggio, Rtd Colonel Douglas Macgregor and Larry C. Johnson).

From the articles and what I can actually see on ground, the reverse of what you wrote about Kiev seems to be the case. The Russians laid siege to kiev,so as to tie down Ukrainian manpower and resources there,so that the Azov battalion cannot get re-supplies, that is exactly what is happening now. The Azov battalion is the most formidable fighting unit in Ukraine. They are battle hardened. As it stands now, they are on the brink of defeat, it's a matter of time.

I don't think Russia will invade Kiev, but they will continue to carry out strikes on it to degrade the military.

As for Zelensky, Putin wished that by invading Ukraine, there would be a regime change, that's why he called on Ukrainian army to overthrow him. The same way Biden and co wished for a regime change in Russia by imposing all those sanctions.

Russian troops and their allies have captured most of Donbass and half of Mariupol, the Azov battalion is on the verge of defeat....that appears to be the main goal of this invasion.

It's sad that the countries that should mediate are adding fuel to the crisis, for selfish reasons. How I wish Angela Merkel is still the German Chancellor, that woman is tough and cool headed.
Foreign AffairsRe: ukraine Reclaims Irpin. Launches Counter Attacks In Kherson & Kyiv by oluobi(m): 3:31pm On Mar 25, 2022

Actually, I think Kiev is the major target for Russia. The aim is to overthrow Zelensky and install a pro-Russain president that will do Russia's biddings.

No matter the outcome of this war, if Kiev remains under the control of Ukrainian troops and Zelensky remains president, then Russia wouldn't have achieved it's main objective. Reason being that Zelensky will always be Pro-west.
If you have ever listened to some military analysts who are objective, then you will agree Kiev has never been the target. Mind you, these analysts are from the same western countries.

Do you know the Western media hardly report that there's a serious battle going on in the Donbass area, where you have the most formidable battalion of the Ukrainian army(AZOV). That battalion is almost destroyed by Russia as we speak.
They(AZOV in Mariupol) cannot retreat, and they cannot get supplies from anywhere, that's why they are hiding behind civilians.

Whatever is happening around Kiev is truly a distraction, if you check the current map of Ukraine, the country has been divided into two, based on areas already captured and occupied by Russia.

I feel so sad because of civilians who have died or have been displaced as a result of this war.

Anybody who is a true friend of Ukraine should be more concern about bringing an end to this war, rather than fuelling it.

Those providing arms to Ukraine are doing so hoping the Russian soldiers would become demoralised, unfortunately, that's not going to happen anytime soon.

It's time for Zelensky to negotiate sincerely with the Russians, for the sake of the Ukrainian civilians who are dying daily. It doesn't matter if they kill all Russian generals in Ukraine, those are soldiers, who are doing their professional job. I have little sympathy for all the soldiers (na their job dem dey do).

For the sake of the civilians, it's time to put a stop to this madness.
Foreign AffairsRe: Ukraine, battlefield Chosen By NATO : NATO General by oluobi(m): 11:54am On Mar 25, 2022
For those who think this war is about Ukraine, they are making a very big mistake. NATO does not care one bit about Ukraine as a country or its people.

You can imagine the number of innocent Ukrainian civilians that have been killed in this senseless war.

Forget what USA and its cronies are telling the world through propaganda, Ukraine can never win this war, unless there is a direct intervention by NATO.

They are not ready to intervene to save the people, yet they continue pushing Zelensky to go ahead with a war they cannot win.

For those who say they cannot intervene because Ukraine is not a member of NATO,I have a question, did Serbia, Iraq, Libya and Syria attack a NATO member before they intervened and bombed all those countries?

Biden and his sidekick (Boris Johnson) are so consumed with bringing Putin down, that they do not care about the Ukrainians that are dying everyday. If they care about the people, now is the time to allow sincere negotiation between Ukraine and Russia.

Let them mediate to put a stop to this destruction and killing first, they can then continue their economic or whatever war with Russia.

As for Zelensky, history will judge him, whether he did the right thing for his people,or he only allowed himself to be used by people who do not really care about them.
Foreign AffairsRe: U.S. Makes Contingency Plans In Case Russia Uses Its Most Powerful Weapons by oluobi(m): 1:37pm On Mar 24, 2022
I wish someone will borrow Zelensky brain. These people do not care about Ukraine, they are after Putin. So so sad that thousands of innocent Ukrainian lives have been lost, and they are ready to sacrifice more, just to get Putin(which is impossible). The only way out for Ukraine is to negotiate sincerely with Russia or continue to wait for NATO's intervention, which would never come. Zelensky should ask himself why NATO are not ready to intervene, the simple answer is, they are not ready to risk the lives of their citizens. NATO is not afraid of their military engaging Russia's military. Their fear is the death Russia's military could and will inflict on their civilians through their missiles. They are not ready to sacrifice their own civilians by engaging Putin directly, but they are ready to sacrifice the whole of Ukraine, because of their foolish president(Zelensky), who some people are calling hero. Hero my foot.
How can you engage in a battle you have no chance of winning, especially when you know nobody is going to intervene to save you and your people. He is happy with putting up appearances in parliaments all around Europe and America, while his country is being destroyed and thousands of the citizens been killed daily. What a shame.
As much as we feel God has not blessed us with good leaders in Nigeria, my prayer is that God will not curse us with a foolish and selfish leader as this Zelensky of a guy.

And for those saying Russia should try and attack Poland, Russia would attack Poland if it becomes necessary for their survival. The sad part is, if these happened, Ukraine would still be the battle ground of NATO and Russia. Why?? if you attack Russia's homeland, they would surely retaliate by sending missiles(conventional or nuclear) to Washington, London, Berlin.....the politicians in those countries would do anything to avoid that.
Remember the adage? when two elephants fight..the grass(Ukraine) suffers.
Zelensky should put a stop to this madness.
Foreign AffairsRe: Zelensky Says Ukraine Ready To Discuss Deal by oluobi(m):
Zelensky has not done well at all. I have a feeling U.S.A have something on him, and that is why they are holding his ball tightly. No matter the sanctions they place on Russia, they will not withdraw their troops from Ukraine until they achieve their objectives.

For those thinking the operation is stalled, please take a good look at the current map of Ukraine, you will notice that the country is split into two already, going by territories already occupied by Russia and the so called separatists. Russia's main target is the liberation of Donbas. There is a serious battle going on in Mariupol, where you have the Azov battalion, the city will eventually fall to the Russians.

I have a strong feeling (I may be wrong), that Russia will not invade Kiev. They'll tighten their siege around the city, carry out strikes when they feel like, until Zelensky finally agree to their terms.

This is a war that could have, and should have been avoided by Zelensky, to save the lives of his citizens.
Whether we like it or not, the powerful countries will continue to have their way. Life is not fair as we all know.

By demonising Putin as a “war criminal”, Washington made it clear that it will accept no compromise as long as the Russian leader rules over the Kremlin, and is ready to continue the fight against Russia until the last Ukrainian standing, alas.

Oga Joy and faith, you can see clearly now that the Ukrainian president is just a pawn. From the above, take note that Washington is hoping for a regime change in Russia, not minding the Ukrainians that are dying daily, nor the destruction of the country. If America want a regime change in Russia, why drag Ukraine into a senseless war(I know you will say Russia invaded Ukraine..... Yes I agree), but now that we are here, shouldn't everybody be talking of solution so as to stop this senseless destruction.
