Foreign AffairsRe: Russia To Cut Natural Gas Supply To Finland From Saturday Morning by oluobi(m): 1:54pm On May 20, 2022
nedekid:
And what is China learning?
Do you even understand what is happening there?
Yes, China will learn, but not from Russia but from the western countries that are unreliable. China will learn to find other ways to store their foreign reserve seeing the thift the US and the west is trying to do with Russian foreign reserves domiciled in western banks. China will learn also to promote other payment systems other than swift. Because the west has shown they can illegally kick countries out is the payment system once they have a disagreement.
Now regarding Finland. Russia announced last month it will only sell gas etc to unfriendly countries using their currency which is the rouble. Why? Payments made in euro and dollars which make up Russian foreign reserves have been frozen illegally under the guise of sanctions. Will it not be stupid for Russia to continue receiving payments fir their oil and gas in same euro and dollars that the US and Europe will seize? Are you aware that seizing the foreign reserves is to also try to make Russia use and exhaust its forex it holds internally to service debt. Afterall if they cannot pay, then Russia will be in default with external lenders therefore tanking its credit ratings.
You as you are, if you are supplying a company eg Zenith bank with diesel to run their generators. You supply ₦30m worth. Zenith bank then pays your money into your account in Zenith bank. But because you have quarell with the oga at the top, Zenith bank places "no debit" on your account. Ie you cannot withdraw money from the account, what will you do for the next supply?
As a sharp man, you inform Zenith bank that if the want diesel again for their Gen, you will supply them, but they must pay to your diamond or uba account or they pay you cash.
Exactly! Not just China, even countries like Saudia Arab and other oil rich Arab countries are learning.

Though they are USA allies, but the new generation of leaders like MBS may not be easily 'controlled' as their fathers.

They are aware now that if things go wrong with the USA, all their USD investments is gone.

Sir, I believe you understands international politics far better than I do.But you are missing here.

The U.S-led NATO is already gradually ending putin, he knows this. The method of attack on Lybia and Iraq to oust and kill their leaders would not be thesame with the method to be used in ending Russia's Putin. The latter possess weapons the former don't.The U.S-led NATO are not as unwise to attack a mad man directly. They calculate and played him to fall.US wants this war badly. If the US were not benefiting from this war, they wouldnt have pumped weapons to Ukraine.Imagine the US supplying weapons to Ukraine the same day talks were held in Instanbul. That sparked another tension.

Note:even in a direct coflict with Russia, USA will defeat them. The destruction around the world is what the US wants to avoid by all means. And don't make it sound like only Russia possess advanced weapons.

@alcuin
You've got a lot to learn about international politics. I noticed you have a strong interest in international politics, but your blind love for the USA will not allow you to really understand the dynamics.

I appreciate the fact that you are a teenager, because I started following international politics as a teenager too, since 1986.

There was no internet then, but I was fortunate, because I had access to the encyclopedia. Those were the good old days of the cold war between the USSR and the USA.

I am not going to bore you with history, but I'll advice you to follow international politics objectively, without emotions, then you'll understand that no country is always right. To you, the USA can do no wrong.....if only you knew.

Whatever is happening in Ukraine today, USA had done worst, and mark my words, would do even worst in the future, to defend their country.
They believe, they are the only country that have a divine right to do what Russia is presently doing in Ukraine.

For your information, I am not a hater of the USA, but I am someone who believe no country should have absolute power.
That would be very bad for those of us in this part of the world.

Love them or hate them, the only country ensuring we have a bit of balance today is Russia, that's why an old 'hawk' like Biden, would do anything to bring Russia down.

I hope you know Biden too has been in politics and position of authority, since 'forever'. A lot of scores to settle with the former USSR, present day Russia and Putin as a person.

If democracy is about rule of law and check and balance, how come the USA does not want to be checked, but wants to check every other nation.
Let me remind you, that when the USA wanted to invade Iraq, so many countries including France, an ally and a member of NATO, were strongly against the invasion. The USA ignored the whole world, and invaded anyway, with support from their number one side kick, the UK. You know the outcome.

Let's talk about LGBTQ.
The only reason they have not forced it on the whole world is because they do not have absolute power yet.
I do not care what they do in their country, but to believe that whatever is good for them should be forced on the whole world is a NO, NO, NO, for me.

If and when we get to a stage where majority of our people want the LGBTQ nonsense (I hope not anyway), let it be our decision.
In case you do not know, Russia is the major stumbling block to this too o!

There is good in evil, and there is evil in good.
No matter the side you chose, we need them to check each other. After all, they don't even care about us.

On a lighter note, forget the USA you attached to your name, if it becomes necessary for the USA to bomb Nigeria, dem no send you and I o, na collateral damage dem go call us.

I wish you well, as you open your hearth to study international politics.

[quote author=owagbeba post=112971686]I thought you would have known by now that many here are victims of psychological operations from the three letter agencies to inversely view any Russian victory as a strategic failure. You can identify these victims because they view things inversely like
Evacuation is not surrender.
Russia failed to take Kiev Russia failed.
Russia’s territorial gains are insufficient
Russians are dying So Russia lost the war

And the list goes... many are just victims of the Psyops... they will never see the facts as they appear as long as the compromised main stream media keeps conditioning these subjects with Psychological manipulation of the facts.

It is really a waste of time arguing with these folks. Even if Russia takes all of Ukraine, they will be conditioned to think otherwise.

Odessa is next then am afraid that we will see anti government protests in Baltic states as Latvia want to ban Russia language from schools.

NATO or no NATO, USA will not risk NY or CA for any Baltic states.
I wrote on a thread, here on nairaland, that Putin is more intelligent than all the Western leaders. This Azovstal operation is one of many confirmations of that.

They (the US and allies) expected Russian troops to storm the complex, but Putin, knowing what the cost would be to his troops, advised against it.

Many Russian troops would have been killed, and it would have been good PR for Ukraine/US.

The waiting game has finally paid off.

It's obvious Russia is no longer in a hurry to end this operation.
They have come to the realisation, that it's a war against the USA, indirectly of course. Zelensky is just a pawn, and the Ukrainians are very unfortunate, to have elected him as their leader.

The longer this war dragged on, the more uncomfortable it would be for the EU. It's obvious they are interested in diplomacy, but for now, they can't say no to the US. I don't know for how long, they can continue to follow the US, foolishly in this war. The current German Chancellor is not showing any form of leadership in the EU, I doubt if Angela Merkel(former Chancellor), would have allowed the US drag them into this un necessary war in Europe.

Putin is a strategist, I am sure he knows that time is on his side.

Quite a huge number of people are blind to the fact that Ukraine was played in many ways.
Only the Complicit USA politicians and Corporations and lobbyists know the matter.

NATO was the carrot on the stick used to lure the Ukrainian Donkey.

Zelensky and his cronies realised too late but are being pacified with a billion or 2 B.

EU countries are caught up in the US's fear mongering, so they can't see, think or feel Beyond the immediate possibility of a (non existent) Russian invasion/threat.

Russia knows and sees the U.S. for what they are ; greedy and grabby people, who will paint you in a bad light and try to ostracize you if they can't bully or control you and your resources .

So Russia fights for her sanity , freedom and the need to keep the USA (NATO) at bay.

PS. Russia will not invade Finland or Sweden for the simple reason that their respective national interests, foreign policies and local politics are not as insidiously influenced by the US as that of Ukraine has been.

This war is never about Ukraine!
Ukraine, under the leadership of the corrupt Zelensky is just a pawn, to get at Russia.

The US is fighting to maintain its global dominance. Russia have always been a stumbling block, that needed to be taken down.

The US don't care if all Ukrainians, including Zelensky die, the ultimate goal is to 'defeat' Russia, without loosing significant number of Americans lives. They can afford to lose the so called 'mercenaries'.

I have never seen so much fake news and propaganda in my life. Heck, these guys post video game footages as their kills, lol. 90% of what they claim is FALSE.

It has NEVER been this bad.

For a country that outnumber invading forces by 3:1 in terms of active military personnel and with endless access to unlimited western weapons - they’re woeful. Since the invasion started they’re yet to go on one offensive - that alone shows how bad the Russians are fffcking them up. But somehow they’re winning the war on Twitter and killing billions of Russia generals in their fantasies, lol.
The western MSM are controlling the narratives of this war. They have brainwashed most of their citizens, including some Africans that Ukraine is winning, any contrary view, and you are immediately tagged Russian puppet or Putin lunatic.

An army that couldn't defeat separatists in the Donbas for over ten years, is expected to defeat Russia! What a delusion!

The more weapons and mercenaries the USA/UK and EU send to Ukraine, the more the destruction of the country, and the more the loss of lives on both sides, but mostly on the side of Ukraine.

The earlier the USA allow Zelensky to negotiate sincerely with Russia, the better for Ukraine.

But if they chose to fight to the last man standing (to satisfy the USA), I wish them luck.

AldrichAmes:
This just shows you don’t understand warfare and your assumptions are based on information warfare in MSM. This is the biggest propaganda war in history and 80% of what is out there is pure propaganda.

UK, France and Germany would get battered against this Ukrainian army. UK got embarrassed during the Falkland war by Argentina who didn’t even send its professional army - it mostly sent conscripts due to being wary of invasion by Chile. Yet it sank 4 of the Royal Navy’s best ships and the war lasted 2months on a tiny Island. Germany currently doesn’t even have a proper military. And France is just living off colonial glory.

Admittedly, I did say Russia made 2 egregious mistakes:

1. It should have done more to prepare for information warfare and it left it too late.

2. It miscalculated from the beginning and thought Ukrainians would rather protect their country’s infrastructures than fight. And that’s understandable but Russian intelligence miscalculated how many hardened Nazis are in Ukrainian army and NATO’s influence in the country and their resolve to use the last Ukrainian as cannon fodder.

I don’t think most of you are aware that Ukrainian fighting forces outnumber Russians by 3:1. Despite that Ukrainians are yet to make any offensive and that shows how superior the Russians are. US forces outnumber Afghan farmers by 5:1, yet they couldn’t win in that country. The Russians started with shock and awe to blitz Ukrainians and make them surrender to protect their cities - with VDV landing near Kyiv. And since that didn’t work - they have reverted to war of attrition and are doing exceedingly fine by methodologically smashing the Ukrainian to bits.

Funnily enough, they’re not even fighting just Ukrainians - they’re also fighting NATO. Ukraine is littered with Special Forces from all NATO countries and their intelligence agencies including CIA and MI6.

Also, this is the minimal civilian casualties you would get in a war of attrition. America killed more 10x more civilians in Libya than Russia has killed in Ukraine. America killed 20x more civilians in Fallujah in Iraq alone than Russia has killed thus far. America doesn’t care about civilian live - they kill everything moving. And precision bomb is a ruse - you can never get perfect coordinates with bombs.

This is the biggest war since WW2 (Ukraine is the 2nd biggest country in Europe with the 2nd biggest military only 2nd to Russia in both cases). When you put it in that context - you’ll get a clearer picture. And Russia isn’t even fighting a full blown war with Ukraine - in a full blown war, it would have levelled Ukraine with its firepower.
Spot on!

If anyone think America is fighting for Ukraine, they are deceiving themselves.
America is fighting to destroy the only country, that's preventing them from having absolute power. The military might of Russia is of great concern.

America practice democracy at home, but on the international stage, they practice dictatorship. They have little or no respect for the UN, they have even threatened the UN and its affiliates on numerous occasions.

The US must really have something on this Zelensky of a guy, with which they can destroy him if he goes against them.

I keep asking myself, what is the end game for Ukraine in all of this. Ukraine can NEVER defeat Russia's military on its own, it's obvious the EU have ran out of sanctions, and the ones in place already cannot stop Russia. Why not take the easy way out, which is diplomacy.

By not destroying Kiev with Bombs (they are more than capable to do that), the Russians have left a big window for negotiations to continue, why not take it, so as to put a stop to the suffering of his people.

Biden said they are ready to fight the Russians till the last man standing in Ukraine, i guess the last man standing would be Zelensky.

Since it's obvious NATO would not get involved directly, why not stop all this drama of calling for negotiations, while at the same time, asking for sanctions, no-fly zone and weapons, so you can push out the Russians.

China has recently sanctioned Australia. They also sanctioned some American politicians meddling in hong kong affairs.

The reason why western sanction is most devastating is because they are the most prosperous bloc. any nation blocked from that economy/market will suffer economic consequences.
Hopefully china entry into global market will change that narrative. If west sanction u, turn to China.

There's no justification for unprovoked russian invasion of Ukraine. None at all.
