The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it has registered over 1.8 million candidates for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The Head, Media and Information of the board, Dr Fabian Benjamin, uncovered this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.

The registration of candidates for the all Computer Based Test (CBT) started on Feb. 10 and terminated on Feb. 21.

According to him, registration was a gigantic success, including that there were no hitches at all over the different accredited registration centres nationwide.

The JAMB representative additionally expelled rumour in certain quarters that candidates could begin printing their examination notification slip from March 2.

He said, “This is misleading and absolutely not correct.

“Let me sound it clearly that the board has not come up with any date for both the examination and the printing of examination notification slip for candidates...

The Independent National Electoral Commission is set to declare President Muhammadu Buhari president-elect, after the collation of results of the 23 February election.

President Buhari crossed the 15 million mark in votes scored in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

He pollee 15,191,847 votes, winning in 19 of the states, after the result of Rivers was included.

His main challenger Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party scored 10,782, 007 votes and won 17 states and Abuja.

Buhari also satisfied the constitutional requirement of making 25 percent in 34 states and the FCT. He missed the cut in Enugu and Anambra states.

In 2015, Buhari scored 15, 424,921 votes to beat the PDP officeholder Goodluck Jonathan who scored 12,853,162 votes.

It implies Abubakar performed worse than Jonathan.

Nigerian vocalist, Adekunle Gold, has joined the growing number of Nigerian big names to respond to the progressing drama surrounding the ongoing alleged rape case that occurred at De Lakanster lodging in Lekki Phase One.

The “Sade” crooner in his response to the alleged rape of a unidentified 23-year-old victim lady stated expressed that sex without consent is rape and recording it is also vile. He further equated the two demonstrations to violence against humanity.

Adekunle Gold added that Nigerians should not keep quiet online and offline the rape victim gets justice for the horrendous act committed against her.

He wrote,

“This is not a women’s issue, this is everyone’s issue. Any and Everyone with a voice, I implore you to not quiet down online and offline until we see the resolution and this woman gets justice. A 42-year-old identified as Hassana Muhammadu, has died after cutting her own stomach with a sharp razor due to intense labour pains.

Daily Independent reports that the incident happened around 8pm on the 27th of January 2019, in Bedi, Bauchi State. Hassana, who was married to Mallam Muhammadu Maikudi, a trader and the union, was blessed with seven children.

According to her husband,

“I got a call from a neighbour that my wife wanted me to come home because she was not feeling well. .

When I got home, I met her in intense labour pains, so I decided to call a traditional birth attendant who can assist her with the labour, but my wife insisted that I should call her junior sister who lives nearby to attend to her.



So I went to look for her junior sister who followed me to the house. On getting inside the room, her sister shouted and called me to come to the room. .

When I got into the room, I saw my wife in a pool of blood with her stomach ripped open as result of a sharp razor blade with which she used to cut her stomach open because she was in pains.

My wife later gave up the ghost after being rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Hospital, Bauchi.”

He expressed sadness over the incident, saying that his wife had been suffering from mental disorders which made her to always isolate herself from people.

Nigerian vocalist, Tiwa Savage as of late got a YouTube Ban for copyright infringement of Danny Young’s tune.

Danny Young asserted on his Instagram page that she took a line off his 2009 single, Oju ti Won. Yet, Tiwa Savage refused to comment and proceeded to release the visuals of the song.

In a talk with punchng.com, Danny Young said he had left everything in the hands of his lawyer.

“I wasn’t the one who contacted YouTube. My lawyers handled the process; I didn’t know how they went about it. You know YouTube knows the right thing to do.”

“She felt we couldn’t do anything. I am sure she and her team know that we have a valid point. We didn’t even ask them for money, but we felt intellectual theft should be taken seriously in this part of the world.

This is just the beginning; I plan to see this to the end if she doesn’t reach us for a compromise.”
