Religion / Brokeness: A Necessity For All Christians by Oluwatola5(f): 12:00pm On Dec 24, 2013 |
Brokeness is one of the essential ingredients that makes up a true christian. It is one that is required of anyone who calls himself/herself a born-anew christian. Unfortunately, there is a missing link between most christians and brokeness. To start with, brokeness is the state of being totally humble, dead to the flesh, suppressing your self-will and total surrendering to the will of God. Brokeness is a state of self-denial and taking to the instructions from the Holy Spirit(Psalm 51:17). It is also not acting out of your natural intution, but rather listening to the guidiance of the Spirit of Truth. A lot of christians today talk more of tithing, giving offering, praying, grace, faith and all that but majority of us shy away from the issue of brokeness. Also many think brokeness is just the opposite of pride, and since they arent proud, then they are broken, but how mistaken are they. The disciples were first called ''christians'' in the church in Antioch, not because they introduced themselves formally, but because it was perceived maybe based on how they related with people, how they talked, dressed or maybe more. But what do we have today? The reverse is the case. Taking Nairaland christians as a microcosm of what is happening in christiandom today, i just SMH when i come across some ''christians'' who are way too vituperative in attacking their fellow christians and non-christians. Then i just wonder about what happened to christian maturity. Even in some christian threads, the way some so-called christians lambast others will only make you marvel. And we want to minister to others forgetting that we are being watched on the double. This is just an admonition on some of us character. It would indeed be a great delight if our christian brothers and sisters can check their excesses. Suppress your desires to torture others with words, not because you are being fOOlish, but because you see yourself as a mature christian. Having said all this, in the world at large now, let us make it a daily routine to check our words, actions and dealing with others. Peter taught us so much about Christians interpersonal relationship among christians in 1Pet 5: 1-4, also Paul taught us in Roman 12:3-21. Also christians living among non-christians was throughly taught by Paul and Peter respectively in Rom15: 1-2 and 1Pet2:3-25. Remember we are all going to give account of it on the last day. The bible tells us that all idle words will be accounted for on the last day. The bible further urged us to be as gentle as a dove and as wise as a serpent. We should learn not to follow the law that says ''an eye for an eye'' if truely we believe we have been redeemed from the curse of the law. It isnt stu.pidity on your path, its just you remembering you have gone past gratifying the desires of the flesh. Thanks May God bless us richly, may His grace continually assist to run this race well to the end and finally may me be counted worthy to make heaven and even be crowned. Amen. 3 Likes |

Religion / Re: Here Is Your Evidence To Show Jesus Was Not Really Born On Dec 25? by Oluwatola5(f): 6:25am On Dec 24, 2013 |
We will only confuse ourselves the more. Whatever the date may be, the 25th of Dec is just a mark of reverencing the birth of Christ who came to the world as a Messiah and celebrating it globally, no one knows when actually Christ was born, some things are just beyond human comprehension. I dont see anything that can stop me from celebrating it even if it metamorphosised from pagan worship, i worship the biblical Christ, the sun god has no hold on me whatsoever!!! 1 Like |
Family / Re: Do Men With Unattractive Daughters Envy Men With The Opposite? by Oluwatola5(f): 6:17am On Dec 24, 2013 |
Appreciating your child goes beyond the physical attractiveness, moreover i think as time goes on, you value your child more if the child has a very high IQ and you sure will be proud of the child, talk about her among your friends and even forget that she isnt attractive.. BTW Some girls are just beauties with plastic brains. |
Romance / Re: After 3 Abortions, He Will Marry Another Lady This Month by Oluwatola5(f): 10:00pm On Dec 23, 2013 |
Hmmmm.....this really is a pathetic case. I hope she finds peace within herself soon. But for the main time she should try hard to put the past behind her, let the guy be, God of course is a rewarder of ever man, according to their deeds, both good and evil. She really needs to pick the pieces of her life together now. And most especially, she needs God to grant her internal peace to keep her going in life. God indeed can get rid of that ''useless'' feeling she has abut herself and make her that special woman once again. 15 Likes 1 Share |
Romance / Re: Most Annoying Things That Married Women Do by Oluwatola5(f): 9:32pm On Dec 23, 2013 |
@OP both guys and girls are guilty of neglecting their partner in marriage. Most men prefer to stay out till midnight, just hanging out with their friends at cool spots to coming home to their wives who are seriously worried about their whereabout. Some men get back from work only to be met by their affectionate wife who is ready to talk about how the day went but all they will say is ''Dear could you please let me be, today was really hectic for me and i need to rest, we will talk later''. So can we totally blame girls? What about those men who will rather stay out to watch Chelsea/Arsenal playing than to think of their spouse? What about those men who bring their office work home over the weekend and cant even spare their weekend for their wives and kids? What about the kids who hardly know anything about their daddy simply because daddy is more of a reputable man outside his matrimonial home than inside? To be frank, most ladies tend to be responsible in marriage than men. Women are much more caring when wedded than in their spinsterhood, which i think comes with this overwhelming sense of responsibility that comes over them once they get wedded. So OP, dont blame all girls, guys also should check themselves. Cheers!!! 12 Likes |

Killing of people because they cant recite the Koran is just a high way to nowhere, will that now solve anything? Rather than teaching them more of the Koran, they resulted to killing them, my Yoruba people will say ''ori bibe ko l'oogun ori fifo'' that means cutting off the head isnt the antidote to headache. May God save us from religious fanatists. |

Funny question Cleaning with just tissue paper should come up in just few situations like when there is shortage of water, when you arent home, when you are reacting to the unhygienic water you have around you at a particular time, like in camp or a village, but in a normal situation, of course water is better than tissue, you will have a fresher feeling after. Moreover, tissue cant take away the bad smell you may have on, but water can, and in a worse situation, water and soap can. I hope i answered this well BTW.......I am the first to comment |

Activate the Holy-Spirit, the guardian spirit in your life and you will be directed on majority, if not all things you do and the steps you take.... Only those who understand the ministry and benefits of the Holy-Spirit will understand this. 13 Likes |

^^^ Post in bits? How about helping us merge our essays together? Maybe breaking down of a debater's essay into 2 parts should be accepted because some people may still have some corrections to make till the dying minute, i dont really like that method of sending it to your email first, at least consider that, but for those who arent so sure if they can meet up with time or who have an appointment on their scheduled date should be told to send their debates to your mail please.... |

Congrats to the couple, although worthy of applause is the fact that they didnt abort the child, but still to be candid, this immoral act has got to stop, marriage is fast losing its essence with the rate at which people go about this baby mama/daddy thing, as well as living lovers. What then can we say makes marriage sacred and special if all its joy and benefits are being ridicled with all these continuous immoral acts. Indeed a lot has passed under the bridge of our moral standards. 1 Like |

Seriously i am in total support with what Epaul said, why dont we just stick to the method we are used to already, let us just compete and scores are used to determine those who qualify to the next round, maybe like 10 schs qualify to the next round because all these new developments are starting to dampen my spirit already and it is killing my enthusiasm about this debate competition and i am at the verge of losing intrest, for crying out loud, where will i get the time to research, type as the debate takes a lot of time during the rebuttals and also the mb to use, and all to continue Beside it is yuletide period, no one will have time to even come for any debate, like me for an instance i am just checking the thread this evening since the time i checked last in the morning. It is likely to get drab and weak debates will come up as people wouldnt devote their time and commitments to the debate anymore, leading to crash programmes and this debate competition will lose its basic purpose, why dont we just keep all further debates till next year, this period isnt favourable for most people anymore, i am just thinking aloud tho!!! 1 Like |
