PoliticsRe: Farouk Lawan: Femi Otedola's $500K Bribe Was To Expose Him by olyivy(f): 10:58am On Jun 12, 2012
It beats me why anyone will read this trash from facrook and exonerate him. How can he change his story in just 24hrs and yet people still say he is clean.

For those asking why Otedola agreed to participate in the sting when he knows he is clean. Why wont he, if someone is desperately try to blackmail me, using sss to nail him is the least of the things i can do to the person.
PoliticsRe: Farouk Lawan: Femi Otedola's $500K Bribe Was To Expose Him by olyivy(f): 10:39am On Jun 12, 2012
bayooooooo: When the history of Jonathan presidency will be written, it will be about just one thing: corruption.
GEJ is the most corrupt Nigerian dead and alive. He wears corruption, he drinks corruption, he bathes in corruption, he speaks corruption, he even sleeps with corruption.

He is corrupted soul, body and spirit.
Dont you guys ever get tired of mentioning that name GEJ? Everything now that happens to anyone whether on the street or in his bedroom has GEJ written all over it. Tufiakwa!

@Pointb,
Abeg leave that Gbawe guy. Everyone knows he is the biggest Yoruba bigot on nairaland. Not mentioning igbos doesnt shield him from being that. Even an slowpoke will tell he is talking about igbos any time he uses those words you mentioned up there.

I rarely read his overly long, emotional, chest beating posts. I wonder why people do.
PoliticsRe: El- -rufai Insulted Igbo Race —obi by olyivy(f): 8:35pm On Jun 10, 2012
I can only contribute few things to this topic:

1. El Rufai is wrong on so many things (I am not interested in discussing them) and he misrepresented a lot of facts.
2. However, even with all that misprepresentations, nothings warrants Obi's tribal twist to an issue he should confront with facts and figures.
3. Obi is a monumental failure in Anambra. People like nri priest, aroli and bashr8 defending Obi is doing it out of selfish (or possibly brainwashed) reasons.
4. Mr. Globe in his attempt to prove that Obi is a failure (which is true) is quite extreme. Some people might not even understand you are attacking Obi not Anambra.
5. It is a sacrilege for anyone to say that anambra is poor like El rufai did. He should be in jail for saying that!

alj harem: So why can't APGA join or are they too big to fight corruption ?
So unseating PDP now translates to fighting corruption? You guys are always too emotional about these things.... The name Tinubu alone reeks of corruption and still you guys want us to believe that if ACN takes over, it will be happily ever after.

Dreamers!!!

duni04: The level of stupidity of some people is just amazing. Here we are languishing because of the effects of this rubbish zoning to the south south thing through which jonathan assumed the presidency and someone is suggesting ww zone to the south east again, even mentioning chris ngige! Who the hell is chris ngige and what the hell has he done to merit being president? Nigerians will never learn from their mistakes. Country of stupid people. People get the leaders they deserve afterall. If you like, ignore the likes of fashola and other competent hands in 2015 and vote for ngige. IDiots!
Look how bitter you are and yet you think you wont continue to languish. You dont want ss or se or Ngige to be mentioned cos you dont know who the hell Ngige is?!! shocked. He is someone who did in 3 years what Fashola did not do in 5!
If you think Ngige is not competent, then there is no competent hand in your SW.

PoliticsRe: Senate Approves UNILAG Renaming by olyivy(f): 3:52pm On Jun 07, 2012
Alxmyr: Be informed.
The passage is the amendment to your so-called 'Act establishing Unila'.
And the amendment is a minor amendment to the bill. Its just an amendment in the short title of the bill.
That is where many of you protesting and shouting due process got it all wrong.
In this sort of amendment, there is no public hearing.
Its just one thing that can be done with in just one legislative sitting, except it is not popular with every members.
But unfortunately, most of you undermine the intelligence of GEJ and he beat you all to it by presenting 2 other bills alongside the one of UNILAG.
These two other bills seek the same thing, and they are popular with members.
It will be extremely out of place to pass the other 2 bills without passing the MAULAG bill.
As to the court, the court does not operate on emotion or popular opinion, it operates based on fact of the matter.
Besides, court interpret the law and does not initiate or make a law.
So go back to your school, when you collect your certificate with MAULAG on it, look for a tippex, erase MAULAG and write UNILAG.
Simple as A B C.
Thats the problem with many nigerians. They keep calling GEJ retardeen and he keeps getting whatever he wants!

He outsmarts them all the time!

^^^ The statement above is the part that some of us ladies dont seem to understand. A guy can get away with violence like the one on this video if he has a good lawyer.

But that doesnt change the fact that the DKB guy is an asshol-e. He repeatedly threatened to slap her next time before stepping away.

PoliticsRe: Are We Any Better Than The Leaders We Condemn ? by olyivy(f): 4:54pm On Jun 04, 2012
jaybee: you are the one getting it wrong. no one is pushing personal responsibilities to government. if the leaders have no roles to play and be held accountable and responsibile for the positions they hold then where is the leadership? indeed it is the duty of the leaders to lead by example; then the followers would follow their footsteps. the leader would just not say "i can not do well because i don't have good followers" it doesn't make sense. a leader would not say "i am not performing because the damage had been done by my predecessors" it doesn't make sense. it is the duty of a leader to make things right, even where he found them wrong. so NO EXCUSE FOR NIGERIAN LEADERS WHO ARE CORRUPT AND EXPECT A DISCIPLINED FOLLOWERSHIP; i'm sorry you can't get it like that.
Which one are you putting before the other, leadership of citizenship?

Leaders were once citizens if the leader is already corrupt citizen before being a leader, how then do u expect him or her to automatically become a good leader.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Citizens Are The Problems Of Nigeria NOT The Government by olyivy(f): 4:49pm On Jun 04, 2012
Kobojunkie: Sitting down behind a computer changes quite a lot of things. I say this as someone whose career, and education demands he spend about 99% of my time behind a career. I so hate when folks like you try to badmouth those who sit behind computers, as if we are not the ones who created much of the world you know of today. If not for online tools, media, forums, online news channels, twits etc, do you think the recent Egyptian revolution, or that of Libya would have recorded as much success as it has today? Do you think Syrians would have gotten the UN to even bat an eye over their problems?

If you need to talk-down to people, do not talk-down to those who sit behind their computers and do what they know to do. Go to those who have the votes and refuse to use it for their own good.
What have you done with your computer to change the situation lately apart from arguing with everything and everyone on nairaland.

PoliticsRe: Are We Any Better Than The Leaders We Condemn ? by olyivy(f): 1:41pm On Jun 04, 2012
Kobojunkie: Na! I don't think you understand what he is saying here. There are at least 200 thousand Nigerians(the so-called corrupt people) here in America, but you can count the number of them with a criminal record here. Why? The system here discourages people by ensuring they understand that they will likely not escape the law if they do commit a crime here.

You ask how many Brits and Americans show up in Nigeria, where the law is really lapse, to commit crimes, there are valid reasons for that. First of all, the laws of the end do not end at the border. Just as Americans expect their governments to protect them even when they are in foreign lands, they also expect that the law will come down on them should they commit crimes over there. Remember Halliburton?
So also can you count people with criminal records here but that doesnt mean they dont do crimes. Exactly why I said they still go to those countries and do crime.
Your postulation that they dont do it here is because they know it will follow them back to their country is a bit lame because it is assumed that our authorities lack means and willpower to fight crimes.

doofanc: no mind frosbel. His ''they have it coded in them to always do right'' is just too hilarious for words.
As someone who has been to sweden (deemed to be a bastion of a corrupt-free society), and currently work with with expatrates, i know such 'honesty coded genes' is a myth..

Fact: those oyinbo can be just as corrupt if given the opportunity. As i said earlier, they chose not to be mainly because of the consequences attached to such actions.
I quite disagree. But Nigerians who knew very well of what the consequences are still go these countries to commit horrible crimes!

How many Brits and Americans come here and commit crimes even though they know very well that the system is weak and can be manipulated?

Tell me, what percentage?

maasoap: The laws are there for the leaders and rulers to apply to erring followers. It is because they are corrupt and can't enforce laws that makes followers too to be swimming in corruption. Majority of the people in any society have tendency to be corrupt but it is the duty of rulers to punish criminals be it followers or fellow leaders. French president declare his assets few hours into office but our dear Jona keeps mute about his assets. It is just a pity you can't see that the leaders can make the nation whatever they want it to be. Just make the laws of the land working. If you didn't witness the era of WAI under Buhari/Idiagbon, I'm sure you would have read or heard about it.
From which level of government does leadership start?

Who are those people that enforce these laws? Is it the Executive, Legislators ...?

Is it not someone like you that becomes a MOPOL tomorrow with the sole purpose of collecting roger on the highways?

Are policemen leaders?

Ol exonerating anyone doesnt add up. Yea it is right to blame the 'leaders' but even if they 'try' to do all their jobs without the coperation of non leaders, it will still fail along the line because a corrupt individual will frustrate them along the line!

flash_it: I was speaking to a friend from another country about the issues she has with her bank from the loan she collected and could not pay back in due time .I told her go back to your country and get another passport and return! This people don't know you in person and the debt will disappear. That day I lost a friend! I can still remember clearly the way she stared at me like I was a common criminal. Why did I suggest that?! Becos am proudly Nigerian! A common criminal with no sense of right over wrong. I will always look for the easy way out . I keep saying corruption should be eradicated from the system because until the governing bodies eradicate corruption from the bloodstreams of every Nigerian corruption ; Nigeria is doomed! Its not Nigerians at home or abroad that we should blame. Its the system which has made corruption our national identity that should be blamed. We have no fear to commit crimes because the system made us smart criminals. I don't blame me for my corrupt acts! I blame my Country that has refused to eradicate corruption from my system!

Please Note! Am not saying all Nigerians are corrupted.
Btw I do blame myself for my corrupt acts! I just want Nigeria to be corrput free but who will bell the cat ? Definately not Nairalanders!Fake fingers running unpatriotic Nigerians wey tribalism don swallow the functioning part of their brains.
Believe me MAJORITY of nigerians are corrupt. We dont see it that way cos we dont even know what is corruption and what is not any longer!
The only thing we call corruption now is looting from abuja not looting our offices, disobeying traffic laws, beating queues, cheating in exams, hiking prices and countless others.
But tell me, what will stop anyone who did any of the above from NOT looting when he/she gets to Abuja.
