Great100000: Airtel Nigeria has joined MTN Nigeria to raise call and internet plans by 50 percent one week after MTN Nigeria implemented a similar hike.
This is part of telecom operators’ upward review of prices following the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) approval of a 50 percent tariff hike in the industry. Under this new pricing regime, Airtel has replaced its cheapest monthly data plan of 1.2GB plan for N1,000 with 2GB for N1,500.
Other changes include 3GB for N2,000 (from 1.5GB at N1,200), 4GB for N2,500 (formerly 3GB at N1,500), and 8GB for N3,000 (formerly 4.5GB at N2,000). Other adjustments include 10GB for N4,000 (formerly 6GB at N2,500), 13GB for N5,000 (from 10GB at N3,000), 18GB for N6,000 (formerly 15GB at N4,000), and 25GB for N8,000 (replacing 18GB at N5,000).
Call rates have been bumped up to 25 kobo per second from about 18 lobo per second. Like MTN, Airtel has left some tariff plans untouched. For instance, the 5GB plan/week for N1,500 remains unchanged.
This hike in tariff is meant to support “the ability of operators to continue investing in infrastructure and innovation, ultimately benefiting consumers through improved services and connectivity, including better network quality, enhanced customer service, and greater coverage.”
However, experts have noted that it may further strain consumers’ pockets. According to Bismarck Rewane, chief executive officer of Financial Derivatives Company, the hike promises to benefit operators but will put additional strain on consumers’ pockets, possibly “resulting in reduced usage from consumers.”
Rapsowdee01: Around this period last year, this topic was brought up and trended here due to economic hardship.
Unfortunately, this year... It's not just economic hardship that's brought this up again. It's the fact that ALL TELCOs have reviewed prices of their plans upwardly with some even removing some plans off completely.
As there is very little we can do other can cope, please share with us the internet data subscription you currently use and your experience with it, how well would you rate it as regards depletion and how long does it last.
Will be following in the comments below.
...unfortunately no protest anywhere. Just know that they will keep taking it up
Yes sir, because of how gullible they are included with the short memory that they possess. If after the Buhari regime, they still voted for APC, then I won't be amazed if APC wins 2027.
GistMedia0: The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) branch, has commended Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Film Studies, for his exemplary composure after being bitten and assaulted by a female student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chiamaka Precious, of the Department of History and International Studies.
The incident occurred when Dr. Okoye excused himself to pass through a hallway where the student was recording a TikTok video. Enraged by the interruption, she attacked him physically, an act that has since sparked widespread condemnation.
In a letter signed by ASUU-UNIZIK Chairman Kingsley Ubaoji and Secretary Joseph Onyejiaka, the union praised Dr. Okoye for his professionalism, stating:
“ASUU wishes to commend Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye of the Department of Theatre and Film Studies for his exemplary display of maturity and civility in the face of the recent violent assault on him by a female student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chiamaka Precious, a student of the Department of History and International Studies.
Dr. Okoye’s restraint and composure in the aftermath of the incident are a testament to his character and professionalism. His actions have not only brought honour to himself but also to our union and the university community at large.”
The union also expressed gratitude to the Acting Vice-Chancellor for his swift and decisive response to the matter, which included immediate disciplinary action against the student.
ASUU reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of lecturers while advocating for a safe and respectful academic environment.
I don't trust politicians...if he defects to APC in the future, he will deny this statement he's making now. He will even accuse the media for quoting him "out of context" ....as if nobody understands English except him.
According to the information, the lady in this video traced her boyfriend to a joint around the popular Atekong Junction in Calabar where he was having a nice time with another lady. There and then, she launched a dangerous attack on him that made him run helplessly for his dear life.
Watch the video and see it for yourself.
Unfortunately they won't call for justice for the young man because he's the victim here, and this video won't go viral. Later they would say GENDER EQUALITY, when in their actions it is GENDER SUPREMACY
[b]How about starting with short term goals that can be achieved within a year. This was how we were shouting Vision 2020 in this country, and when 2020 came, both the visioner and the vision evaporated.
Goodmarlian: Omo can you imagine my girlfriend ghosted me for 2 days straight, didn't call, didn't pick my calls, didn't reply chats.
I had to stop calling after she refused to pick the 4th time, she loves in ogun state while I stay in Lagos, a lot was going in my mind coz I was confused. I had to conclude she doesn't want me anymore.
I have already moved on, only for her to call today and tell me she is sorry that she was in a bad mood for 2 days. I was wondering if it was that bad that she had to ignore my calls. This is a girl that calls me every two hour before omo relationship na work oooo, we dont go everyday without calling each other before she brought this style.

Reno really wants to trend and make money from his monetized social media handles by all means necessary....smh. Elon and Mark, see wetin una don cause.
Mr Yusuf, before you start talking beyond your reasoning, kindly clear with your state chairman. I'm very sure he's among the state Chairmen that had said before the elections that Obi will not win.
It's funny many of these artists don't read and also understand what they're signing in a contract. You will sign a contract and later cry foul. As for Chinwo's case, I'm probably sure she was told that she is singing for God and she shouldn't look at the financial aspect. Pure scam
They will tax you by all means necessary and if you dare criticise them, you will be arrested and charged with cyber bullying. I hope we learn before the next election
