This policy is a double edged sword, it all depends on the end you are, some will benefit positively and some negatively. To me the highest beneficary are the(1) married women (whether Abuja marriage or not)It will be a good time to married women who have almost lost their hubbys to night crawling. (2) DSTV, if all night crawling is stopped, all eyes will be on the TV especially DSTV. so far, i ve remembered only two beneficaries but the list of loosers is endless, let me name some, nairalanders can help me remember the ones i forgot. (1) The runs girls and pimps (2)Bars and Night clubs, (3) Breweries (4) Tobacco merchants (5) Entertainers/ Praise singers (6) Taxi Drivers (7) Filling Statons (8) GSM companies (9) Police etc (10) Short time joints. For Abuja Environmental and Protection Board, i dont know the side of divide they are in because there will be less work which is less pay(Chua Chua). |
Atimes i wonder if the people those involved in issuing these orders check well before doing that, do they know how much we will loose economically, socially, psychologically and even politically. Abuja is the seat of the nation and one should not fear of any attack in the city, our security should be perfect here and stopping night life should not be a strategy of combating the security threat. It shows one thing, we are scared of the BOKO HARAM and this will embolden the sect. Very soon, they will dictate who stays in Abuja and who leaves. Too bad. |
I was listening to my radio this morning, I heard that from today, Recreational park will close by 6.00pm, while Night clubs and Hotels will close by 10.00 in the FCT. This according to the source (96.9 Cool Fm), was because there is a security threat. So we will all go to bed by 10.00pm. Its unfortunate. |

THE National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ekiti State command, has raised the alarm over what it described as the rise in the cultivation and consumption of cannabis sativa, known commonly as Indian hemp, in the state. The Commander of NDLEA in the state, Mr Bamidele Akingbade, who raised the alarm in Ado Ekiti, while addressing newsmen, at the weekend said over five cases of mentally deranged persons resulting from the use of the substance were reported at the University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, weekly. According to him, Ekiti was one of the states in the federation “known for cultivation of cannabis,” adding that over 400 acres of Indian hemp farm had been destroyed in the state since he assumed duty in Ekiti last year as the commander in the state and now. He said it was worrisome that another 100 acres had just been discovered in parts of the state, saying “if this continues, there would be more lunatics on the streets and this would affect the future of our youths who are the leaders of tomorrow.” According to him, “wherever cannabis is planted, it takes another 10 years to grow another plant there. So, we appeal to our people, especially those in charge of land to discourage giving out their land to people to grow Indian hemp.” He also disclosed that the agency had arrested 34 suspects since last year when he assumed office for dealing in hard drugs, out of which 24 were prosecuted. http://www.nigeriamasterweb.com/paperfrmes.html |
These Bank- oles should respect themselves. Can't they do something better at least for their family sake. |
An Abeokuta Chief Magistrate’s Court on Friday adjourned the case of fraud against Toyin Bankole, alleged the younger brother of a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Dimeji Bankole, to August 2, 2011. The younger Bankole, alongside one Segun Baruwa, had been appearing in the court since January 2009 over the fraud allegation. The police prosecutor in the case, Mr. Paul Etusi, had on January 15, 2009, told the court that the accused conspired to commit fraud by collecting money from one Modinat Odunlami with fake intent. He said that the accused collected the money under the pretence that they would help their victim and her daughter to secure an overseas visa and admission respectively. But at the resumed hearing of the suit in Abeokuta on Friday, the absence of the counsel to Toyin, Mr. Adedotun Akinmade, stalled the continuation of the case as the lawyer, in a letter addressed to the court, conveyed his inability to be present in court. http://www.nigeriamasterweb.com/paperfrmes.html The counsel, who had, in the letter, claimed that he was indisposed, however, assured the court that he would be willing to continue with the case on the next adjourned date. |

There was pandemonium at Obanikoro, Lagos Mainland, yesterday when soldiers clashed with policemen attached to the Lagos State Transport Management Agency (LASTMA). Trouble started when a soldier riding in a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) drove through the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane at about 8 am was accosted by the states task force on environment attached to the state government. BRT is reserved for LAMATA buses operated by the state government. It was gathered further that the armed policemen and the LASTMA officials threatened to effect the arrest of the soldier who claimed he need the lane because he had an emergency to attend to. According to the sources, “if they wanted to turn back they had the opportunity of reversing their vehicles and move back. But because they were soldiers and felt they could deal with the police they started coming and even threatened to disarm the police officers who attempted to tow the female soldier’s vehicle. They resisted it even when the officer pleaded with the officers . “ While that was going on, the female soldier who drove a car marked SD 754 KJA attempted to operate the car by force but unknown to her, an iron spike was place in front of the car’s tyre, while the vehicle climbed it and got one of the tyres punctured. As the car was being towed out of the BRT lane, the other soldier man, in a car marked KE 507 EKY came out of his car and successfully concealed his identity by removing the name tag on his uniform”. The witness said that the officer acted irrationally, insulting the police officers and dared anyone to tow his vehicle, the attitude brought about a mild drama at the scene. “ Because of his rudeness, the policemen who had earlier let go almost 10 vehicles being driven by soldiers who violated the use of the BRT lane to avoid trouble decided to tow the vehicle. The Lance Corporal gave a headbutt to a police officer who was trying to drive his car. The witness explained that efforts by the undeterred policemen to tow the vehicle was resisted by the corporal who slapped and brutalised the police officers at will, while the police were being careful to avert a re-occurrence of the Badagry episode. He said ,“ As the struggle ensued between the Lance Corporal, some street urchins (Area Boys), who supported the soldier suddenly went wild, wanting to foment trouble but the police succeeded in arresting some of them who were hauled into the Black Maria.” An eyewitness said during the ensuing argument, the soldier who was brandishing his identity card started making phone calls to his colleagues to come to his aid. He said the senior police officer in the team ordered his men to arrest the soldier. According to him, during the attempt to arrest him, he put up a stiff resistance and the police beat him until he collapsed. Daily Sun gathered that after the soldier had collapsed, the policemen revived him by pouring water on him. The source said it was in the process of reviving him that an Army Colonel drove to the scene and arrested the soldier. Another witness, a driver at the Obanikoro motorpark who spoke on condition of anonymity said that few minutes after the soldier was taken away by his superior, other colleagues stormed the scene on a reprisal attack. He said as soon as the task force men sighted the soldiers, they fled, while others took to their heels. He said the soldiers who were not happy that the police and LASTMA officials escaped their wrath barricaded the road and were searching for either policemen and LASTMA officials to vent their spleen on. However, it took the quick intervention of the Brigade Commander, 9th Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ikeja, Brig. Gen. Sanusi Muazu, who arrived at the venue to calm the soldiers. Gen. Muazu, who described the skirmishes as unfortunate, said the Army was on top of the situation. He said the soldier who used the BRT lane had been arrested and that disciplinary action would be taken against him. He decried the behaviour of the soldier, who took over the restricted BRT warning others to desist from disobeying the rules and regulations, stressing that no one is above the law. As at press time, uneasy calm still pervaded the area as residents and shop owners have shut down for the day. The popular Obanikoro taxi park was deserted by drivers and passengers for fear of possible return of soldiers, who had vowed to deal with the attackers of their colleague. A similar incident occurred on Tuesday when bloodshed was averted at the same sport. About 15 vehicles were seized during an operation led by the task force chairman, Mr. Bayo Sulaimon, a Superintendent of Police. According to the source, most of the violators were members of the Armed Forces and para-military agencies. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/features/newsonthehour/2011/june/24/newsbreak-24-06-2011-001.html |

The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Garbai, has denied involvement in the quelling of the 2009 Yusufiyya sect uprising in the state, which led to the killing of the sect leaders. The sect, popularly called Boko Haram, had on Monday called for the prosecution of the first class traditional ruler for his alleged involvement in the killing of its leaders in the process of quelling the crisis. A statement by Alhaji Zanna Laisu, Secretary, Borno Emirate Council in Maiduguri yesterday expressed surprise at the development. It said the response became necessary because of the serious concern and displeasure shown by the various communities, the good people of Borno emirate and the nation in general on the issue. The statement said, “For the avoidance of doubt, at no time was the Shehu of Borno and the emirate council ever contacted or consulted by any authority within or outside the state on the breach of peace in Maiduguri in particular, and the state in general. The emirate council condemns in strong terms, all insinuations of its involvement or that of the traditional ruler. The Shehu of Borno, since his ascension to the throne, has continued to preach peace, harmony, stability and justice which are the greatest and well known heritage of Borno emirate since time immemorial.’’ (NAN) http://www.dailytrust.dailytrust.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=21276:shehu-of-borno-denies-involvement-in-killing-of-boko-haram-leaders-&catid=1:news&Itemid=2 |
Contrary to the rumour spreading like fire in Nigeria that Nollywood star Genevieve Nnaji is the next bond girl, the News Of The World (UK) has named the British Actress and Pirates of Caribbean star, Naomie Harris as the next bond girl. The News Of the World which spoke to Naomie Harris is speaking with a louder and firm voice, not throwing out a rumour, so it seems like the deal is sealed and confirmed. Genevieve Nnaji is not the next bond girl, maybe next time but for now, let’s kill this rumour with the fact… This is what the News Of The World wrote: PIRATES of the Caribbean babe Naomie Harris has jumped ship – and will shoot to megastardom as the new Bond girl. Naomie, 34, will be Daniel Craig’s sexy sidekick in the soon -to-be filmed new 007 movie. The British actress was spellbinding as Tia Dalma, the grotesque witch in the second and third Pirate films. And her steamy love scene with Jamie Foxx in the Miami Vice remake proved she’s the right calibre for Bond. Naomie, who stays superfit doing pilates and yoga, says: “I’m totally comfortable naked.” Her mind’s just as agile – she graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in social and political science. Londoner Naomie revealed she isn’t recognised in the street, despite her movie success. “I like that,” she says. “I’ve got one of those faces that people don’t recognise.” All that is about to change as she follows in the footsteps of gorgeous Bond girls like Ursula Andress, Jane Seymour and Halle Berry. The plot of the new film, known only by its working title Bond 23, is being kept firmly under wraps.Judi Dench will again play M and Ralph Fiennes is in the running for a role. It is due for release in November 2012. http://www.leadership.ng/nga/articles/738/2011/06/13/genevieve_nnaji_loses_next_bond_girl_role_naomie_harris.html |

The days of the Boko Haram sect are numbered in Borno State because the elections are now over and the security agencies will concentrate full attention on the sect’s members, Inspector General of Police Hafiz Ringim said in Maiduguri yesterday. He spoke at a ceremony at which Governor Kashim Shettima donated ten armoured personnel carriers (APCs) and ten Hilux pickup vans to the Nigeria Police Force on behalf of the state government. He said the donation was to help them beef up security in the state. Governor Shettima, who handed the keys of the vehicles to Ringim at the Government House in Maiduguri, said the issue of internal security in the state was an issue of serious concern to him. He said, “No responsible government will treat the issue of security with levity. We have expended a huge amount of money in ensuring our internal security but the fact is that all the investment cannot be compared with the pains we are experiencing as a result of loss of lives.” He said the vehicles were meant to complement the efforts of the Federal Government. “I wish to extend my heartfelt condolence to the families of all the people that lost their lives in our trying moment. I also wish to call on all our people, irrespective of ethnic, political and religious differences to intensify prayers for peace to return,” the governor said. In his response, the Inspector General said he was also worried by the “precarious security situation we found ourselves. This is unfortunate and unacceptable.” Ringim said President Goodluck Jonathan had directed all security chiefs in the country to visit Borno and to ensure the restoration of peace in the state. “Now that the elections are over, our attention would be concentrated and I want to assure you that the days of the Boko Haram are numbered,” Ringim said. http://www.dailytrust.dailytrust.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=21089:ig-boko-harams-days-are-numbered&catid=2:lead-stories&Itemid=8 |
Its a fact, how come we have the police (Black and black, mopol, Anti terrorism squad, Anti bomb squad, CID), SSS, NIA and they could not get intelligent report(s) before this guy struck yesterday. Its rather unfortunate, they have to look inwards, some of them might be members of BOKO Haram. So this guy has been following the IG's convoy without the retuine of security men observing him, who told him the IG's movement. Something is fishing and the Nigerian police needs to be on top of the game if not we are inviting the soldiers. |
Senate President David Mark has suspected internal conspiracy within the security agencies on the spate of bombings across the country. Reacting to the blast that rocked the Nigerian Police Force headquarters in Abuja, Mark charged the security agencies to ‘look inwards’ in addressing the situation. In statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Senate President, Paul Mumeh, Mark said people should cooperate with the security forces in bringing the dastardly acts to a halt saying “those who are committing these heinous crimes do not live in the moon, they live among us. “I do not think that resort to killings or terrorism would answer our questions. The real answer lies in our ability to come together as a people and address our common problems.” He expressed grave concern about the un-abating spate of bomb blast which he said was a threat to the security and corporate existence of Nigeria, saying, “No nation has ever progressed or survived in the midst of terror.” Mark said no matter the grievances or anger in a man’s mind “resort to violence, terrorism or wanton destruction of lives and property cannot be a way out.” The Senate President said that the security challenges called for synergy among all security agencies to bring the situation under control. Mark sympathized with the Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim, and urged him not to be deterred but reinforce his operations in order to arrest the situation. http://www.dailytrust.dailytrust.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=21282:mark-suspects-conspiracy-among-security-agencies&catid=2:lead-stories&Itemid=8 . |
The problem with Nigerian police is that there are a lot of bad eggs in the force, they recruit people with questionable characters. An example is one notorious boy during my secondary school days, every locker that were broken then were traced to him and his gang, the teachers' chicken were eaten by him and his gang, infact it was not hidden. He was expelled and he left to another shool where he finished. Then he graduated to break and enter. Lo and behold! when i saw him last two years, he was already a mopol corporal. You can imagine, are we not in trouble? |
Being a cultist is a lesser crime than being an armed robber, good reasoning from a sharp mind. |
It shook the buildings at federal secretariat, i believe its bomb. |
If the ACN does not caution this man, the party will be doomed in Osun state. He should realise that PDP is still waiting in the wings, they have then men of means who can rattle him if he is not cautioned by his holier than holy party. Besides, his state was the only state Goodluck lost in the whole south, is he not a black sheep already? so no pity for him. |
Any team that does not have discipline can not make it, It is the duty of the coach to instill discipline in the team or he will be held responsible for the woes that will will befall his team. Nobody is doubting what Osaze can do with the ball but that does not make him above the law, if he is not corrected now, these younger players will think it is the order of the day especially when you are making it in your club. Siasia should be left alone when it comes to handling his team, during the Mikel Obi's saga, it was even hotter than this but he maintained his stand and picked the Olympics silver medal without Mikel. Besides, can one apologise on tweetter, does Siasia tweet too? Please let Siasia be, we can only crucify him if he does not qualify us for cup of nations. Including Osaze in the team does not gurantee our qualification. QED |
I support Sia 1 on this issue, yes we might be walkin on tight rope but we do not need an indiscipline player to make it to Cup of Nations. Yes Osaze might be hot right now but i do not support him because of his indiscipline nature. He has to apologise if he really loves this country, We(The football Fans) influenced the appointment of Siasia as the chief coach of super Eagles so we deserve our respect. I don't even know why Osaze always have problems with our national coaches, i can remember he had problems with the coach that took us Cup of nations in Ghana, he had problems with Amodu Shuiabu, He had problem with Lars Largerback, and now Siasia. Kai haba Osaze! |
Reacting to reports that Super Eagles player Osaze Odemwingie of West Bromwich Albion will return to the Eagles soon for the remaining Nations Cup qualifier matches by the president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Aminu Maigari, Samson Siasia through the team’s media officer, Colin Udo has stated that without apology Osaze should forget the Eagles shirt. Aminu Maigari was quoted to have said that Osaze will return to the team for the next round of matches prompting observers to believe that the NFF president is set to use his executive powers to usurp the duties of Coach Samson Siasia, a situation that will be unhealthy for the team’s collective spirit. Eagles at the moment are walking a tight rope and needs focus to win the remaining round of matches instead of statements capable of causing friction observers reason. The media officer of the Eagles also told LEADERSHIP SPORTS exclusively that: “Osaze still has to apologise to Coach Siasia before he will be admitted back into the team. Osaze must apologise to the coach and the team. No right thinking manager will accept an erring player back into the team without proper disciplinary action.” According to him, the controversy is not conducive for the team and needs to be resolved immediately, “people are making so much noise because of the quality of player involved, if it was Dele Adeleye or Ekigho Ehiosu, this kind of controversy would not have been generated. We need to let this matter die down and not add more fire to an already flammable situation.” He warned. http://www.leadership.ng/nga/articles/783/2011/06/14/no_apology_no_eagles_shirt_osaze_–_siasia.html |
Tiger woods's public apology on his extra marital affairs has not done him any good, from my personal view, his performance off and on pitch has drastically reduced. His wife at the end of the day left him with her loot. This is in contrast to what is happening to other superstars who were involved in such affairs, they settle their problems behind closed doors, Jonn Terry and Wayne Rooney are typical examples. Today, they are living their lives as if nothing happened, with their wives intact. Today Tiger has lost his wife and some fortune, is it that Tiger did not handle the issue well or what? |
THREE years after the demise of the late strongman of Ibadan politics and Garrison Commander of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Lamidi Adedibu, some family members, at this year’s remembrance, have expressed their displeasure over the dumping of Adedibu’s family by his associates. The only surviving wife of the politician, Alhaja Bose Adedibu, specifically rained curses on those who had, at one time or the other, benefitted from the politician but turned their back against the family, describing them as “betrayers” and people who lacked conscience with no fear of God. The result of such attitude to the family left behind by Adedibu, according to the wife who spoke to the Nigerian Compass yesterday, also had its toll on many of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) politicians in the state who lost woefully to the rival Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the April general elections. According to her, Adedibu’s ghost would continue to haunt many of them unless they come back to the fold and retrace their steps. Mrs. Adedibu said that the family also felt betrayed that nothing has been done by beneficiaries of her husband’s large heart to immortalise him. She said that most of his loyalists and close allies abandoned the family immediately after his burial on June 12, 2008. “The ghost of Adedibu will haunt those who used the name and abandoned us shortly after his death. They are too many to mention but God knows them all,” Bosede Adedibu lamented. Were Adedibu to be alive during the April general elections, she posited that Oyo State would not have gone the way of the ACN because all the intra party crisis that worked against the party’s success would have been amicably resolved to the satisfaction of all the contending factions in the party through the political prowess of the late politician. “If the ACN government in Oyo State can immortalise my husband for his contributions to the political development of the country and Oyo State in particular, I will be the happiest woman in the world. “I have congratulated the Governor Abiola Ajimobi for his victory at the April polls. In the first instance, he is my brother as well as a son-in-law. He is also Adedibu’s son. If he were to be alive; he would have done the same thing, because he doesn’t practise politics of bitterness. I have also congratulated Senator Femi Lanlehin, elected in Oyo South Senatorial district on the platform of the can. He is also a member of our political family who left the PDP out of frustration. “My deceased husband was a caring politician. In dreams, she would always ask me to prepare foods for the people. Have you prepared their foods, he would always ask”. Symbolic of the “amala and gbegiri” politics which the late strongman was noted for, the widow said even at death, Adedibu insisted the free meal must go on on a daily basis. http://www.compassnewspaper.com |
From what we have been getting from the media, it has always been one top European Football Player being involved in one affair or the other. From John Terry, to Ashley Cole, to Wayne Rooney and lately the almighty Ryan Giggs. These affairs has been dirty but some are more dirtier than others. I cant understand what is happening to these players, Imagine Ryan dating his brother's wife for eight years, getting involved in abortions with her. Our players (Africans) hardly get involved in these issues, are they saints or is the media not after them like their counterparts(European)? I want to know because am very confused. |
Aiyegbeni should know that his days in the super eagles is over. We need younger blood not old cargoes like him. I thought he should have been talking of his own testimonial match. |
Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni has declared his intention to play for the country once again. Yak whose performance at the 2010 World Cup held in South Africa had infuriated Nigerians opined that since he still plays good football for his club in Europe, he was capable and fit for the Eagles team. In a chat with the NationSport, Aiyegbeni asked: "Do you think I am old or what? If I can still play football for my club in Europe, I think I deserve to play in the national team," he said. Reacting to the jeers from the crowd on Saturday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium while he played in the Kanu Testimonial match, Aiyegbeni said: "It is almost a year now, since, I faced the Nigerian fans. Anyway it feels nice, I am enjoying my moment here which is great. Why would I feel intimidated, in Europe we get things like this, especially among the away teams, sometimes the fans like you and sometimes they don't, it is normal" In the same vein Aiyegbeni has expressed joy at playing ion the testimonial match: "I feel good, Kanu is one of the top Nigerian players, we respect him, and he gives the young ones experience, he gave the younger ones exposure, made them believe in themselves, he has done a lot for this country and the world of young ones so for me to be here it feels good." Meanwhile, Yakubu could be caught in a tug of war between West Ham and Leicester City, but insists he will be coming back to Everton first However, Everton want more additional terms added to the transfer deal before allowing the switch, and this morning West Ham have said they want to take Yak to Upton Park. “I still have a subsisting contract with Everton, I have to go back,” said Yakubu. http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/football-golf-boxing/9151-i%26%23039%3Bm-not-too-old-to-play-for-eagles-–aiyegbeni.html |
How did you know he has issues with Gbana?, was he arrested by the law? We have only heard of Toronto University, which has not been proved. Am not Asiwaju's spokesman but its not fair attacking the wrong person, That write up by Sam Omatseye is a very bad one to be frank, i read it and felt very bad, imagine how the immediate family of Awo would feel. He (Sam), after eulogizing Awo crucified him by making some utterances that left a very bad taste in the mouth of the readers especially those that are affliated to the Awos. We have to face the fact here, Sam is a staff of the Nation Newspapers, Asiwaju is the owner of the newspaper whose aim is to use the paper to make gains politically and economically. He is not the chief editor(if there is anything like that in the nation organisational hierachy). That such write up came from Sam (a staff of the Nation) does not make Tinubu the author, unless there are some issues which we are not aware of here. Aim your attacks on Sam Omatseye not Asiwaju. Please let us stop this media war between the Awos and the Awoists now before it gets out of hand. |
I learnt the sausages are made from donkey meat? Personally, i love it but after hearing of donkeys being involved, i reduced the rate i consume it. But this guy don make me remeber gala and coke, inshort am rushing downstairs to get one. |
I couldnt read your source of info but Ghaddafi should respect an average Libyan and step down so that this problem will stop. I hope he wont adopt Saddam's tactics of moving from one hole to the other, in an attempt to evade the NATO's strikes. Besides he should have known that he who fights and run away lives to fight another day. |
