Icon79: You dey mind them?!
I love this NL family because we all love the game but, like I often say, not all opinions on NL are created equal. So you gotta take most of what you read on here with a big dose of salt. All things being equal, I expect Joel Obi to start in Russia ... unless Rohr decides to do seniority and starts Onazi because he's the vice captain. Apples to apples, Joel Obi offers more than Onazi in that position.
O pari There is no good reason why Onazi should be starting games ahead of Ogu or Joel with his port belly and playing like old papa. |

KevinDein: While some here don't think Joel Obi is even good enough to make the 23-man list, this foreign paper actually touts him as the star player from Nigeria to watch out for during the World Cup.
https://www.footballwhispers.com/blog/players-minnows-look I can't fathom why anybody would conceive the thought of dropping a Joel Obi with his wealth of experience and exposure. I would drop Etebor,Agu and even John Ogu for Joel unless if you are considering Etebor's attacking abilities, whereby you want him in case you lose a winger. |

realpoacher: Wow!... Wow!!.... Wow!!!
Sir Komekn, I am particularly happy to read this from you. Honestly i had to check the moniker again to be double sure it was you.
This is the kind of inspirational talk we expect from you not the extreme criticism you have been spewing all along.
With these motivational words, i am convinced beyond doubt that you truly mean well for this team unlike your compatriot.
From your analysis, it has shown that you have been following us through and through for you to know that Simy and ighalo are our out and out strikers that you hope they do us proud on Saturday. Obviously you are a Nigerian and who love the SE.
Your views might have not been nice or popular here but you sure is our own...., don't we just love our own? Don't read too much into that post... He had to tell you your best strikers are not world class just to further remind you you have crappy players. He is forcing it , open your eyes ,bro. That dude do not care about Super Eagles and he will be so glad if England trounce Nigeria like 5-0. |

Joebie: That’s a good idea as Ighalo can pose a threat in scoring positions when Ebuehi moves forward to support. However, my idea was to bring Ighalo for Simy in the second half. I meant you can't keep "IGHALO" on the bench not Igbo...lol. By the way, Ighalo is not Igbo. Just to clear the typo. |

"What I said was that "the general opinion of people" then was that Onigbinde took Opabunmi and Adepoju (not even Ogbeche) to Korea/ Japan for tribal reasons.
I have said it here before that I was a sport writer in the late 90s but though I did less of it as at 2002. Onigbinde was interviewed by the Nigerian press on why he took both players to the WC. He said (quote me any where) that Adepoju(who he called his joker) and Opabunmi were his boys. The general public definitely will take that as tribal sentiment. And that was exactly how they saw it even in the Press Circles.
This very obvious incidence was what I pointed out and he tagged me as a tribalist!
In another post I highlighted the fact that he has remained till date the last coach from that part of country. This statement which is obvious truth and the one highlighted above are what he has been pointing to for the past 3 or 4 years. "
Icons4, I remember that exchanges vividly and Onigbinde's response about taking an almost retired Adepoju who has absolutely nothing to offer, an Opabumi which is like taking Chukwueze not even Nwakali because Opabumi was never a special talent. Yes, he openly admitted he took his "boys" to the world cup for personal reasons and it was shocking to hear such nonsense from not just a national team coach but from a respected football technician. After that interview people tagged him a tribalist because those his "boys" were Yoruba's |

realpoacher: My formation for England line up
1. 4-3-3 Akpeyi
Ebuehi - - Ekong - - Balogun - - Echiejile
Ndidi - - Mikel Ogu
Ighalo - - Simy V. Moses Ndidi can't start yet and Echiejile is a no no for me,otherwise you have a decent setup |

On 3-5-2 I will start Ighalo and Kelechi and bring in Simmy and Iwobi in second half. Shehu will be dropped for Ogu or Agu because he has not played for Super Eagles in that position. I will swap Ebuehi for Aina. |

And if we have a decent league that is comparable to what the north Africans have there is no reason playere like Echiejile, Aina and Idowu should be in that camp. Just watching the Poland vs Nigeria game and Idowu has nothing to offer...NOTHING!
Ikuowen Utin and Ebere Duru who played the left back against Athletico Madrid are way above those below average players we have in the camp.
We need to work on our league. Our league must develop past this shambles we have presently |

AIG07: Sir, I understand that Onazi is a core member of this team. But he is loosing his touch and fast becoming the shadow of his old self.
Dude looks overweight and does not look like someone ready to lay claim to his starting shirt anytime soon.
So for now. I'll rather/prefer to pair Ogu and Ndidi as our double pivot In a 4-2-3-1 formation than having Onazi and Ndidi's partnership. Onazi has really regressed and the fact that Rohr is still depending on him is a source of concern for me. Onazi shouldn't be starting games anymore when we have Ogu, Joel and Agu. His leadership qualities and fighting spirit are commendable but he doesn't bring much to the team anymore, especially, since he went to Turkey. |

Iwobi is never a winger and dont what they put him there for , even, he still struggle as a AM because his ball holding ability is not up to per. TheSuperNerd: In his case, such medication can prove fatal to his career if care is not taken. Some risks are just too high to contemplate. If the third and final scan says he is ruled out for good, we should all live with the situation and move on like soldiers. Simon's loss is a big blow and I hope this is the only big blow we take in going to the mundial. When you inject those kind of medication what it does is numb the affected area and stop you from feeling the pain but it further injures the part and makes it harder to heal and some of these pain can be very addictive...Not recommended at all |
