breezy047: Mikel does not do a dirty job when he plays deep for Nigeria. He protects the defence, and controls the midfield. he wins balls, sends long passes, through-balls and often comes forward depending on the situation of play to try some shots or feed strikers. From the defensive midfield position, Mikel actually does a lot for us.

Between if Mikel is slow, is Haruna any faster?
For Nigeria Mikel plays the central midfield role for Nigeria, he doesnt screen or protect the defence, the reason why he puffs after 70 minutes is that for Nigeria he has to do more running and moving unlike Chelsea where he screens the defence.

safarigirl: and we lost because of a weak defence and a terrible attack. Our midfield was A-okay. We need defenders and strikers, once that's sorted out, we can look out for midfielders.

No, I do not know what Catenaccio is, all I know is we need defenders and strikers, that's our immediate priority
Look if a team doesn't know what you are going to bring, they will set up in a way that you will dominate the game but still loose. and thats a fact, Uruguay play on the counter, the soak up pressure and hit on the break, I did Sky plus the game against Spain and I have watched the game time and time again, we dominated the game and still lost 3-nil that says alot. Nigeria plays an open game gaps between the defence and midfield is so great, we are not compact with players been discipline in their position, Like I said if we come across better mid-fielders than the one we have a sorry sentiment goes out of the window. Sometimes the defence is as good as the mid-fielders screening them

Catenaccio - Is an old Italian style some teams adopt nowadays.

safarigirl: we should prioritize everything. We controlled the game against Uruguay and Spain without Moses, but our defence and strikers sucked. We first need to solidify that defence, that's why we should secure the defenders- Tiago and Leon first. We can then look at Aluko and whatever other mid-fielders there are, we need strikers too cuz as it stands, we have just one of those
Well still lost! the result says we still lost...

A Quick question, do you know what Catenaccio is in football terms?
SportsRe: List Uncapped in-form Players Keshi Should Call-up by omar22(m): 2:15pm On Dec 22, 2013
safarigirl: we no dey too find midfielders, we get Mikel, Onazi, Igiebor, Ogu and Victor Moses. Na our defence we suppose fortify. Any and ALL defenders are welcome to try out, but one has to be exceptional to unseat our regular midfielders, even Iheanacho that's just as good as, even better than some midfielders isn't sure of a spot. We may need strikers too, just in case the Holy Spirit touches Keshi to drop Ideye.
Its not enough, we need to see whether we have better options atleast see what else we have got, we wont be facing Burkina Faso or Ethiopia at the world cup

TravelRe: Annoying Things Nigerians Do On Airplanes by omar22(m): 9:49pm On Dec 21, 2013
I have been travelling from UK to Lagos for the last 15 years but due to an attractive offer from Lufthansa, I decided to jump on the deal. Its a flight to Lagos via Frankfurt.

Am sorry but I dont know the type of Nigerians living in Germany but they are the worst to fly with. The flight to Germany was smooth, but from the boarding gate it was like hell, no one wants to queue, I finally got to my seat, to my surprise someone was sitting in my seat, (that I booked on-line months before I travelled) I kindly asked the person that you are sitting in my seat, guess what? the person acted as if I wasn't talking to her, I just walked down the aisle, I guess she thought that I went to look for another seat, not knowing that I went to call an air steward to sort the lady out, by the time we got back to my seat, someone else was sitting next to her, they told me to go and sit in the other person's seat further back, can you imagine I said no, the steward order both of them to sit in the seat written on the boarding pass. I guess that lady thought she was flying with Nigeria Airways

One lady was shouting from side of the aisle to the another person at the other side of the aisle further back, it was hilarious, from Frankfurt to Lagos. I thought it was a one off, on our way back which was a night flight, trying to sleep, it was noise with so many complaints. What took the biscuit was when lady took her child to the toilet to poo and left the door open watching her child, people complained but she shouted in Igbo language to people to mind their gaddam business...

I wont through Germany again

chidooh1: The crack man has said his own, but one thing is as clear as ever. Argentina has defeated Nigeria in three editions now, and we all know how narrow they escaped with victory. Pay-back time, the Eagles I see today cannot fall prey to Argentina again, if there's any team we will beat in that group that team must be Maradonna's darling team the Argentines.
What narrow victory? on all 3 occasions our goal keeper kept the score low avoiding a hammering

Most especially in 2002 when Ike was in the form of his life to keep the score low, on a very good day Battistuta would have hit between 3 and 5 goals that afternoon

naija noni: He won't force a loan. But as it seems,he is definately going on loan in january. He even gave a hint on twitter last week.He tweeted:-"My season oficially starts in january".
A lot of championship clubs have requested for a loan deal for him, also swansea.
A loan deal to a championship club would be great !!.
The problem is that Liverpool have paid a loan fee for a season long loan to Chelsea, the only way Victor Moses will leave Anfield is if Moses gets injured and they send him back to Chelsea for treatment. Liverpool cannot loan Moses out to another club because Moses is not their player.

I would have said Nedem Onuoha but the way he and Carlton Cole turned Nigeria down made me feel these guys are going to loose out internationally. Actually Rio Ferdinand told to Cole to turn Naija down. Look at both of them now Agbolahor and Cole. Ugo Ehiogu could have gone to 2 or 3 world cups With Nigeria but England used him in a friendly because Adam and Keown were injured and quashed his international career. England quickly gave Wilfred Zaha a cap just to prevent him playing for Ivory Coast, Didier Drogba warned him, England gave Raheem Sterling a cap just to prevent him playing for Jamaica, Roberto Martinez did warn England that they are going to loose Victor Moses to Nigeria

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Tottenham Sacks Andre Villas-Boas by omar22(op): 12:07pm On Dec 16, 2013
Tottenham have sacked manager Andre Villas-Boas in the wake of Sunday's 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool.

The defeat was the club's worst at White Hart Lane in 16 years and left Spurs seventh in the Premier League - eight points behind leaders Arsenal.

Villas-Boas, 36, took over at Tottenham in July 2012.

"The club can announce that agreement has been reached with head coach Andre Villas-Boas for the termination of his services," said a Spurs statement.

"The decision was by mutual consent and in the interests of all parties."

Villas-Boas had come under increasing pressure in recent weeks as his side struggled to keep pace with the top four in the league.

His side lost 6-0 to Manchester City on 24 November and, despite a draw against Manchester United and wins at Fulham and Sunderland, the defeat by Liverpool proved the final straw for the Spurs hierarchy.

safarigirl: Didn't we play Uruguay at the Confeds? They won by a slim margin, save for Ideye, the other strikers were home based, abeg don't mention Uruguay, on a good day with our best strikers: Suarez for Emenike, Forlan for Ameobi/Nsofor/Dike, Uruguay can't win us
Look its my opinion!

slim or no slim they (Uruguay) still beat us, its called maturity! a matured team will play badly and still win, an inexperience and immatured team will play very well and still loose, its a fact of football. Ask Ghana? They had the semi's in their sight but lost it ask whyhuh . Comparing Ameobi/Nsofor/Dike is an Insult to the best player of the last world cup! Comparing Emenike to Suarez common, I know your patriotic but please they are not in the same class.

Performing well at the world cup yes, but winning it? no chance, even reaching the semi-finals is extremely slim...

Winning the AFCON is one thing, but in the world cup requires maturity and experience and the current squad is a team recently put together if you look at Ghana who performed well in 2010 in South Africa, this was an aftermath of the 2006 were due to lack experience they lost Brazil and Italy. The world cup is not about the first 11, but the whole squad, I saw the game against Italy live at Craven Cottage, Nigeria played ok until when Italy sent on Pirlo who got us running from here to there with his blind passes!

The 2 goals came from Nigerian defenders ball watching. Please Please Please beating or Playing Burkina Faso is one thing, playing a team like Japan or Uruguay is a different approach.
