My addition to this is i was the first ranked candidate for my state in the interview list for UK. I did not get the scholarship, but the second and third ranked candidates in my state in the interview list got the award. However someone far down on the list also got it, making them three in total.

Check whether the “someone far down the list” is a female, highest ranking female is also considered.

In programming there has to be an order. So the first thing I checked was if it was arranged by either surname/first name/middle name and registration number. Upon validation of the data, it was clear that it wasn't alphabetical name order or serial number order.

Taking the data set and validating it with other sources e.g Linkedin/Newspaper articles/things you can find on the internet for a number of states, the hypothesis was confirmed true that candidates were ranked based on their 'profile strength' per state

Also, I checked from my state and like three other states and saw that those selected were mostly from the Top list. Though there are some displacements due to interview performance .

Thanks for this. If we can see, one of those who won the scholarship already sat ontop of the list for their state, they were already technically the best without interview component. It showed they also did well in interview because if they didn't do well in the interview, the ranking would have changed if others did better than them

I accepted my faith the second i saw the list. This is actually my second time applying and I plan on applying again next year cos I trust the process .
My curiosity to see the people that were selected from my state and their position in the interview list in order to know my chances led me to check. Lo and behold I didn’t see one of the names on the list. I didn’t take it too seriously until i saw arguments here and decided to chip in my observation. Mind you , I did thorough checking before making my claims.

Now I realized I should have let the sleeping dog lie. It might have been a mixup from Ptdf’s part.

Do a screenshot of the award list winners and the shortlisted name winners and state the included name so justice can be done.

If you can't, you are lying and should be prosecuted in the court of law for slander and libel. Just move on and learn from others that won. Look for other alternative scholarship.

Concerning deferments, they’re not included in the new list.Also, I checked and the name is not in last year’s list. I also know people that deferred last year and they are not in the new list. It doesn’t even make any rational sense to include them in the new list.

Is it now a crime to observe something and say it out?

Although I take no personal umbrage, I just needed to correct that notion that the list is perfect. Irrespective of my personal sentiments, congratulations are in place of those who now have the opportunity to fulfil their dreams through this prestigious route.

This is the scoring criteria. PHD slot is just 4 per state.

PTDF is the most merit based body in Nigeria since it's establishment. Whether you agree or not, does not change the fact that it's the truth.

I'm a proud awardee, and so are my 100s of colleagues, and no one has anything to prove to you.

Accept your fate, visit the USA travel section and see Info to apply for USA PHD which is a great option and on par with PTDF. With your profile and a GRE of 310 and above, you should have multiple offers

PTDF is the bride and hope of the common Nigerian.

My brother, nobody is disputing the fact that some people got it on merit without knowing anyone. But I can categorically tell you that the list is a mixture of merit and “Long-leg” candidates. In my state, I found someone that was not on the interview list but was awarded . This is a public platform I would have shown you the proof .

What happens if a successful candidate doesn't accept the PTDF scholarship for one reason or another. Can the person's slot/award be passed on to the next high ranking candidate from the state abi the state forfeits the slot entirely

It will be best if it’s passed on to the next best candidate as some people might have gotten funding elsewhere. Can an ex-scholar confirm if this is the case ?

My opinion

Though one thing is sure . It’s assessment process os different depending on the role you applied for.There are some that will start with ODV first, then the Game and vice versa
