chukwudi44: Emeka Ikedioha should assume office as speaker and let Tambuwal go to court. He is no longer a member of the. HOR by virtue of section 68 of the 1999 constitution Ihedioha ko, Ifedioha ni. Go read section 68 (1) (g) of the Constitution. |

bigblxd: So you know better than the courts that said that there is no division in PDP? Which court said that there is division in Sokoto PDP? Be whining there and refuse to face reality. Why can't we just be honest for once? If Tambuwal wasn't clueless, why did he hurriedly adjourn till Dec. 3. Pls this is not about you party affiliation but about constitutionalism. You don't go to court to determine if there was a division. You defect first, then the court determine the whether or not there is a division. |
Politics › Re: FG Withdraws Tambuwal's Security Details by Omimah: 9:51am On Oct 30, 2014 |
anonimi: The KEY issue most people seem to miss out is that you MUST first be a member in order to be elected Speaker. So if one dumps the party that sponsored him and IF that party decides to pursue him in court he RISKS not being a member any longer hence you cannot even be eligible ab initio to be a Speaker. Hope you see how this flows.
Anyway I wish this PARTICULAR rogue plenty of luck in dealing with his fellow rogues on both sides of the party divide. Your pre-emptive stance won't change anything. Tambuwal enjoys the support of all. His emergence as against PDP's choice, Mulikat Akande, is a testimony. |

anonimi: And for how long will he be a member if PDP drags him to court Tambuwal is not just a member, but also the Speaker of the House. PDP has the right to drag him to the court. On how long this would last, the court will decide. |

bigblxd: @ OP: Why is there so much ignorance on this platform. I just weep for the future of this country. My friend and neighbor is a very close aide to Tambuwal and I remember warning him to start looking for another job as soon as his boss decamps. The constitution is very clear on the defection of a lawmaker. A lawmaker can only defect and retain his seat if there is a merger of his party with other parties and he chooses not to be part of it (ie Opeyemi) or there is an established factionalisation in his party and the court has severally said that PDP is not factionalised. Please lets leave sentiment and work towards a better and constitutional Nigeria. That is my dream! My friend, read section 68 (1) (g) of the Constitution. A member can defect and still retain his seat if there is division in his party. Go study the state PDP is in Tambuwal home state, Sokoto. You think he is clueless? |

isrecole: If Tambuwal is principled as he want Nigerians to believe,he should be honest enough to resign the Speakership. Tanbuwal as a Lawyer knows the provisions of the 1999 Constitution. He cannot eat his cake and have a penny! Tambuwal should be honest with himself. APC as a party can never take it and APC should not expect PDP to accept it. How can the opposition preside in a House where the ruling party is in the majority? Haba,Nigerians should be honest!! Tambuwal understands the Constitution, and knows that section 50 (1) (b) does not say the Speaker must emerge from the party with majority. Rather he should be a member of the House. |

tit: This actually a good example of the danger the NLC is running. This strike showed the general public disassociating itself with the so called public pressure group in the south-south, south-east and other parts of the country. those members of the general public that were lukewarm to NLC antics will even be more suspicious of them in the future. It's only those that chose to lick the a55 of the FG that pulled out of the strike or didn't take part in the strike at all. Thank God you mentioned where they are from, the South East and the South South. They, especially the South East, have still not changed as could be seen in their support for Jonathan for 2015. The real heroes were in the South West and the north. If it were just the South East, we would have been paying more than what we are now paying for PMS. |

tit: The strike and such actions by NLC are when they loosely interpret their mission statement. It is a bit like The US invading Nigeria because BH is killing Nigerians. Their primary duty is to protect the interests of card-carrying union members in employer-employee relationship. Sometimes the interests of card-carrying union members and the general public align. The unions may have simply elected to negotiate better conditions for their members wrt to the increment in petrol prices.
It would be ill-advised for the NLC to dream of morphing into the yellow-movement or moslim brotherhood that created instability in Ukraine and Egypt. Madam, I no com here com sell Oroki herb. The "organized labour" you claim NLC is protecting, as against those outside them, are they not made up of Nigerians? |

tit: Nigeria can never make progress if people like you are at the helm. Notice, I never commented on the substance of the NLC vp's comment. I only said NLC officials should never talk about politics. You should realize the limits of the NLC. It is a body for "organized labor". When it is negotiating salaries with government, it does not affect the emoluments of the Fulani herdsman, the yeibo apprentice-trader or Yorubass nurtw thugs. Comments such as this detracts from the mission of the NLC and could make the general public view them as a biased organization down the line. Like I said how would you feel when army generals start opining about christian-chriatian and moslim-moslim candidates? Wont you run? Let us stop the bulls before they get out of the cage.
This issue is not about cutting the overblown civil servant wages and so far no party has said they would cut or raise wages, so i see no reason the NLC should be dragged into a partisan party issue it has no business with. The NLC has to guard its image jealously and discourage its officials from making unguarded statements which could be misconstrued as NLC policy positions and that is enough reason to sanction this wide-loose-mouth vp. Go read Pressure Groups in Government. You will see the means they adopt to drive home their demands. On NLC being only for "organized labour" and negotiates salaries for them without the salaries having any effect on those outside the organized labour, you made a big mistake. The strike it and TUC called in 2011 over the removal of subsidy on PMS, was it ony for the benefit of the organized labour? |
