Sports / Manchester United Showcase English Premier League Trophy In Ghana by omoghana22: 2:24pm On Apr 17, 2012
Manchester United, elated current holders of the English Premier League Trophy, at the weekend displayed their invaluable prize in Ghana to the delight of their local fans, many of whom seized the rare opportunity to take pictures with the trophy.

The worldwide tour of the cup, sponsored by Casillero del Diablo, manufacturers of a globally branded wine, is accompanied by 41-year-old Andrew Alexander Cole, a Nottingham born retired English Footballer and other officials of the club, such as the Club mascot, Fred the Red.

The ceremony was accompanied by a reception hosted by Chase Restaurant Lounge in Accra and attracted a cross-section of people, including journalists and football fans who took turns posing for pictures with Andy Cole, a member of the Club’s treble winning squad.

Manchester United, nick-named the Red Devils, has won many trophies in English football, including a record 19 league titles. The honours of Manchester United comprised five premiership championships: 1995-1996, 1996- 1997, 1998-1999, 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 and two FA cups: 1995-1996 and 1998-1999.

The team won the FA Community Shield twice spanning 1996 and 1997 and UEFA Champions league 1998-1999 and one Intercontinental Cup, 1999.

In 1998–99, the club won a "Treble" of the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League which was an unprecedented feat for an English club.

Nick-named the Red Devils, Manchester United is one of the wealthiest and most widely supported football teams in the world.

They stunned the football world in January 1995 with the then British record capture of Andy in a record seven million pounds deal.

Andrew plundered 24 goals during 1998- 1999 including the delicate lob over Tottenham’s Ian Walker, which secured the Premier League title.

He followed the Treble with two more leagues titles and intercontinental cup, prior to joining Blackburn Rovers in December 2001.

Mr Fouad Nasser, Managing Director of Grafitec as well as the proprietor of Chase Restaurant and Lounge, commended Manchester United and Casillero del Diablo for their track record over the years and said he was delighted to associate his business with successful brands.

“Grafitec and Chase strive for success so we are happy to partner with other successful businesses and brands,” he stressed.

Moises Del Rio, Country Manager of Vina Conchay Toro, said: “each Casillero del Diablo wine is the result of carefully selected grapes grown in some of Chile’s most award-winning wine-making regions, from the Limari Valley in the North to the Maule Valley in the South of Chile.”

“The unique characteristics of each of our vineyards are reflected within the flavours and aromas of each bottle. This range of wines brings to you the best that Chile has to offer,” he noted.

Casillero del Diablo means cellar of the devil… legend has it that over a century has passed since Don Melchor created the legend.

When he discovered the loss of his finest Concha y Toro wines, he spread the word that the devil lived in his cellar. From that day, the wine has been known as Casillero del Diablo, the devil's cellar.

“Essentially, we share the pursuit of excellence, tradition and quality of Manchester United, and like United, dominate our field of endeavour.”

We both have the word Devil associated with our brands – The Cellar of the Devil and the Red Devils; and like a football team of 11 warriors on the field we also have a variety of 11 quality wines.

“The significance of the event was to show the partnership between the two brands and to re-launch our product in Ghana. Playing on words, we could say that the Red Devils drink Devils Red wine.

The programme offered an opportunity for guests to taste our products, in this case Siemonor Blanc and the Melor,” says the Country Manager of Vina Conchay Toro.**

Religion / Are Demons Bad As We Think? by omoghana22: 9:38pm On Apr 05, 2012
I always like going back to the root of a word before trying to debate anything about it. Where did the word Demon come from? Don't you see there might be a connection between, demon, divine, devil (remove the d and you have evil) etc? We've lost a lot of the original meanings of certain works. Etymological thread right now but I think we must look into this before we start off going haywire about something we don't really understand.

Apparently the word "Spirit" is related to the Greek "Daimon" (a.k.a. Demon or Daemon) which is derived from the verb "daiomai" meaning "to divide, to distribute". The original Demons were deities that "divided" and "distributed" one's fate.

The name Damon, on the other hand, is derived from the Greek root "dama-" meaning "to tame, to domesticate". So is the word diamond, which is derived from "a-damas" meaning "strong, cannot be subdued".

Beside the Greek word “damatzo” (to tame) “daimon” (devine being, spirit) is another possible word to derive the name from.

Dæmon "spirit," from Greek. daimon (gen. daimonos) "lesser god, guiding spirit, tutelary deity," (sometimes including souls of the dead), used (with daimonion).

SOO MANY PEOPLE ARE GETTING THIS WRONG. I DONT THINK GOD REALLY FORGIVES. OUR SINS IS WHAT IS BRINGING US SUFFERING. CARMA IS REAL AND EVERY MAN MUST PAY FOR ANY SIN COMMITTED NO MATTER PRAYER YOU DO. WHEN SOMETHING WRONG HAPPEN TO US, WE EASILY FORGET THE WRONG WE HAVE DONE IN THE PAST. WE RUN FROM ONE PRAYER TO OTHER, VIGIL TO VIGIL YET PROBLEMS REMAINS. E.G
IF YOU ARE A SINGLE GIRL DATING A MARRIED MAN DURING YOUR YOUTH; SOMEBODY MAY ALSO DATE YOUR HUSBAND, NO AMOUNT OF PRAYER WILL STOP THIS.
IF YOU ARE A 419 AT YOUR YOUTH AGE....AFTER SOME YEARS YOU NOW REPENT AS A PASTOR OF A GOOD XTIAN, YOU WILL ALSO BE DUPED , NO AMOUNT OF PRAYER WIL STOP IT.

EVERYMAN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS OWN PROBLEM....GOD WILL NOT FORGIVE YOU. IF YOU ARE PASSING THROUGH SOME DIFFICULTIES, ROLLBACK TO YOUR PAST AND THINK WHAT WRONG YOU HAVE DONE TO HUMANITY. IF YOU HURT HUMAN, HUMAN MAY HURT YOU...AND NO PRAYER WILL STOP THAT. TELL YOU PASTOR THE BASIC TRUTH TO AVOID REFERRING TO THE DEVIL,FAMILY CURS OR CALLING SOMEONE WITCH NOT KNOW THAT YOU ARE REPAYING BACK YOUR SINS.

BE CARE, AND LETS LOVE ONE ANOTHER. LETS FORGIVE ONE ANOTHER FOR THEM TO FREED FROM BONDAGE...IT IS WE AND NOT GOD.

my sister, you are very luck but at the same time prepare for the worse. Carma is real..God may cheerish much if you confess to the man how you used him.....not only the man but those who also knew about the relationship. this is the only way the yoke may break. if you think prayer alone will solve it , then you are deceiving yourself. You need a spiritual break over. I dont know why people think God forgives so easily. every man will pay for any evil committed. spiritual punishment is difficult to overcome. if you have anything to give the baba lawo for you to be freed pls so; otherwise , you might end up loosing woefully.
Family / Re: Is Marriage A Bed Of Roses? by omoghana22: 11:46am On Mar 30, 2012
this is a serious issue...............but i think married is not do or die affair as people think. both parties has a role to play. most especially the men. i always say that whatever happens in any relationship, men should be hold responsible. Because we men has the power to make changes. right from the beginning of the relationship , both parties needed to create sibling-ship looking before 'my husband or my wife'. any man who say her wife is perfect is making a big mistake.....Every woman needs guidance always. praise them when they do right and question them when they are going the wrong side. Not by violence....because you cant educate woman with violence. every man must treat his wife like her junior sister, no matter her age. make sure she submit to you professionally. be more polite to her and she will be addicted you that every man will irritate her in terms of emotion. mind you before you build any trust, you must try the person in many ways. try and pick his or her phone and see her reaction. never take your marital problem to a friends home. you have the power to solve it. seek advise from aged people. you will definitely enjoy ur married. remember, my wife is my best friend and you know, one of the best wife in the whole wide world.
Religion / Re: Is It Truely Demonic To Eat In The Dream? by omoghana22: 1:06am On Mar 29, 2012
ooo my God. when will people learn from thier own opinion. religion is the worst thing ever been to earth. this has course soo many tensions and terrors. the worse ever is the Christianity. how could someone tell me eating in a dream means something EVIL! as far as i am concern man has not understand the meaning of dream. if we cannot understand why we die and where we go after death, same applies to dream? all the dreams i read in da bible are all human thought. those who dream in the bible are they not humans like us? dreams! no one can interpret it THAN yourself. is it only eating? what about the picture of people you have not meet real on earth? non can tell yu the meaning ? they are all guessing. what i know is that is only 2% of what we dream applies to our physical. a friend of mine say making love in a dream is mami-water...and i laugh...........

i will want any of you to live the religion aside and do your own research on dreams. i personally did mine and found out that fear contribute much to nightmare dreams. personally, i have 2 comon dreams that i usually had...
1 is as a soldeir going to war or.. acting film with Hollywood stars. i have had dreams meeting obama, jonathan, ghana president , sakozi etc.
on my dream research i found out that there was much nightmare like fighting, evil, or devil in my dream when i was a christian. but ever since i deny xtianity i hadly have such dreams calling the name of jesus. i also observe that there is one type of dream when occur to me, it makes my day boring.(thats when some1 sees my unclothedness in dream) there is also this type of dream that i will be seeing myself picking money on the ground; once i wake, my palm will be scratching me....that week, i will make lot of money. anytime i have this dream, i will smileeee.

DONT LET ANYONE DECEIVE YOU, ONLY YOU CAN INTERPRETE YOUR DREAM BY OVSERVING IT. THIS IS DISCOVERING WORLD..YOU HAVE MORE TO DISCOVER ABOUT YOURSELF. but to my opinon, i believe that the place every soul come from, are the pictures we see in dream....because its only when you sleep you can dream long. and have you seen some1 sleeping? is like a death person. havent you dream about ur late friend, brother, mather, mother, sister? you saw them alive in your dreams. and you shall meet them fro reall once you die. this is just the philosophy of where we go after death.

IykeD:

hahaha..Nigerian degrees are sold?? lol ok I agree but you lot can't still stand us academically. If not that you are a local lad in a public library in Accra, I would have asked you to check and see the Nationality of people making it happen abroad.
When I went for my master's degree, there were 8 Ghanaians-7 lads and a lady and I was the only Nigerian. 4 of them couldn't cope and hence dropped out, as expected, the lady followed a man and ran away till date and 3 of the remaining guys are still battling with the initial courses, so my friend do some research.

Now to your response, you seem to have a problem. You listed your so-called top banks and 90% of them are foreign banks and you are still talking?
I asked you to mention Ghanaian banks and tell me how many of them are Nigerian.....even when we all know they are leading that sector, I never argued with you if Nigerian banks dominate Ghana, so I think you've got a huge comprehension problem. Mr, the number of Nigerian Banks in Ghana is more than Ghanaian banks and that was where I was going to, face it or leave it, you know the truth.

ohhh my friend sharaaaaaap there, there is nothing like partly owned, are you a thief? We all know these banks, who doesn't know Barclay's bank et al
Even the fedelity you mentioned was licensed in 2006 and started operations in 2008 I think and it's not fully ghanaian owned so I still put it to you, the only Ghanaian Bank is Ghana Commercial Bank period!
For instance, there are about 24 or 25 banks in Nigeria after the re-capitalization exercise and about 20 or 21 of them are Nigerian owned.

I know your problem and that of your frustrated countrymen.... but don't let your president hear that you are insulting your big brothers 'cos he may send you to your early grave. When he needs loan, he knows exactly where to go to, so be careful.
Don't worry, if you come back again, trust me, you won't do cobbler job, you lot will be made security guards, at least that's a big promotion and when you are going, you won't go in Ghana-must go sacs, you will be provided with designer ADIDAS bags, very beautiful ones.

What is your name, I bet it's one of the days of the week-Kwame I suppose, you are welcome to nairaland and Nigeria....feel free but please respect your big brothers. You guys try to compete and when you can't stand the heat, it turns into envy and jealousy. I know a lot about you guys, I have Ghanaian guys I would refer to as my friends ( whom I have known for about 3.5yrs now) but they see me as a threat due to unnecessary envy and jealousy. You guys should change, it will do y'all some good and hasten your path to progress you so desire...come join me for some coffee! Cheers!

you are the biggest mugu.............i bet you if you are not 419, unemployed looking for job or tell me? how dere you comparing nigeria banks to ghana banks?, have you ever hear that banks are merging in ghana before? you are 1 out of 1000 illiterates. your banks are working for our economy but ghanaian bank cannot come to ur so called powerless country for lost business. always no that nigerians are hard working people but ghanaian are brain working....be humble........

you why i say una be uncivilised people?
i no blame una because , you can use money to by degree in nigeria

A Nigerian govt official (I think Minister or Governor) made a comment recently in repsonse to comparism being made by Nigerian journalist about the state of public infrastructure between Nigeria and Ghana.

He said the volume of tap water that the whole of Ghana consumes is not enough to flush the toilets in peoples' homes in Lagos.! Can you imagine this kind of gutter language from a suppossed govt official in a 150million population!
The statement nearly caused a row between the 2 nations but Senator Obanikoro, Nigeria's High Commissioner to Ghana did a good job to resolve the issue.

It is attitudes and some lousy tendencies like this that made Ghanaians to be very wary of Nigerians!
Politics / Re: Why Do Nigerians Think Ghanaians Hate Them?? by omoghana22: 1:51pm On Mar 28, 2012
you are all getting it wrong...the reason why Ghanaian hate Nigerian

as a ghanaian...one thing i hate about Nigeria, apart from the Yoruba's is that they felt they are the best in all things; now take your time and look at every Nigeria smartness...is either to dupe someone or to cheat. can any nigrian tells me why they are smarter than the Ghanian? 419,crime, etc...for every successful Nigeria business man there is a criminal record. a Nigerian will ague and say...we are the best in Africa. we are these and that,

the first to do this and to do that....noise makers. no action. every Nigerian is a big suspect. We Ghanaian, we hate noise but we take action. We don't boast on what we have because we know how to get it again. i hate Nigerian making noise here because they are nothing. they are only multitude with less brain. WE ALL KNOWS THAT NIGERIAN ARE HARDWORKING BUT GHANAIAN ARE BRAIN WORKING. A Nigeria friend told me that Nigerian drive the best car in Africa....can yu imagine this illiterates? they speak without source......even their senates once say that nigeria supplies ghana light...hmmm like most Ghanaian will say nothing good come from anago man. to me they are uncivilized.....civilization is not copyright...trying to be like American.civilisation is not to be 419, or paying for special centre before you right exams, it is not to use money to get a degree; every time, we are 120milion.....population with no sense. if ghana has this population, we shall conquer the world. ghanaian we are heros but dont make noise like you do. you are our brother because our independence gave birth to your lovely country nigeria. the truth is that , Ghanaian hate nigerian because they are noise makers. this is why ghanaian are most preferred in any post internationally.
nigeria are smart, yet they cant change the status of their country where poverty raise all days. i see the as the most poorest because thier rich men doesn't keep the little for the poor. they only make noise that the richest man in africa (dangote). what has he done to his community where he was born. in ghana, we all smells the wealth of a Ghanaian rich man. Ghanaian rich men doesn't make noise. you only here their names when they want to make donations.

note that we have everything you call smart in ghana .....but we dont make noise. believe it or not 1 out of thousand nigeria is corrupt in anyway. and out of 120mil population 110mil are suffering and smilling. untill you nigerian humble yourself, you shall remain the gain of africa in corruption and human trafic.

NEXT TIME WHEN YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT GHANA, HAVE YOUR SOURCE....and dont speak like aq fool because you are the big brother africa.

Technology Market / Ghana Ranks No. 1 Fasters Internet In Africa.... by omoghana22: 11:22pm On Mar 23, 2012
The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications (GCT) says the telecom operators in Ghana are proud of Ghana’s number one ranking in internets speed in Africa because they invested heavily to ensure that.

Ookla Netindex this year ranked Ghana’s 5.13 megabits/second internet speed 72nd in the world, which made Ghana number one in Africa, as the next African country on the list was Kenya at the 75th position with a speed of 4.49mbps.

Ghana was even one step ahead of Italy, which came 73rd. with a speed of 5.05mbps.

The report listed at least two telecom operators – Vodafone and MTN, plus one Internet Service Provider – Zipnet/Broadband Home Limited, as the networks with the highest speeds in Ghana.

Telecom Chamber CEO, Kwaku Sakyi-Addo told Adom News the telcos have invested heavily in 3G upgrades to deliver greater speeds, adding that the detail behind the figures shows vast improvements in the speed of internet cafes in Ghana, and competitive consumer broadband tariffs.

"All of these factors have led to our leading performance in Africa," he said.

He noted that Ghana’s ranking has been growing over the last 2 years, as the country came 157th two years ago but has lifted its game to the current position of 72nd in the world and first in Africa.

Mr. Sakyi-Addo said the members of the chamber have taken up the challenge to ensure the high speeds that most sites and applications require to work effectively, but in order for Ghana to sustain its performance in the global rankings, there is the need for a wider internet adoption in the country, stimulated by an environment that supports demand as well as supply. "I believe that together with the policy-makers, we're on the right track," he said.

"I believe that together with the policy-makers, we're on the right track."

“Our members have taken up that challenge and are conquering in Africa [and] as more people surf on the internet at home, at work or on their mobiles, we’ll see even further improvement in service and speed, and the industry will move to correspond with this demand,” Sakyi-Addo said.

Mr. Sakyi-Addo noted that broadband has become a tool for improving productivity and job creating jobs, and it also establishes an enabling environment for businesses and the government as a whole.

He noted that data penetration is expected to increase in the coming years, and assured Ghanaians that the telcos were investing substantially to cater for the expected demand.

Why do you think privatization is more better?, it is good only if the government has a role to play in it. sometimes i dont know why people will compare telecoms sector to oil sector. no matter how the oil industry will big like, can never sell a crude for $20 per barrel,  in telecoms, bandwidth gets cheaper all days and thats why if your infrastructure is good with a better transmitting equipment you charge as low as you like, note that same network calls are bandwidth free,  so if nitel was privatized and calls becomes cheaper, pls stop comparing it with oil deregulation, they are different things altogether.

economy or no economy how does it affect the ordinary man? any way i dont know much but what i know is that even if Ghana buys fuel for N200 per litre they are still better than nigeria buying for N65 because in Ghana its only people that owns vehicles that patronise the petrol stations but herein Nigeria, nobody can live without fuel. Almost 60% of Ghanaian population have not seen petrol with their real eyes. poverty is everywhere in africa but in Nigeria is too rampart. as a Liberian, ive lived in Accra before coming to Lagos, food and transportation as of today is still cheaper in ghana than nigeria even thought they are buying fuel at high price. I think the suffering in Nigeria is base on civilization.  otherwise everything lies on the hands  of every Nigeria citizen.

what is wrong with this our soo called big brothers?, hmm who even gave them the name big brothers? this is nonsense. anytime a nigeria will talk, they will say they are gaint of africa. Gaint of fools. gaint of 419, gaint of corruption, We all know that nigeria has quantity and not quality, 1 ghanaian is equal to 10 nigerian. and Without ghana independent , Nigerian will never had one. illiteracy is a big problem with most of you guys. can you imagine nigeria senator saying that Nigeria supplies ghana power?, ? nonsense, what shall it profit you to have all this wealth yet poverty and suffering, killing and looting. Nigeria, dont feel soo hard to ask ghana how they got it right, in education and development. In ghana we think ahead of things, watch out soon for our own gasline that will supply the west africa since your failure is as usual. this is a give and take story.

Henceforth, we are all africans, and we need to come together to be 1, when nigeria falls, ghana will wake him, when ghana falls, nigeria will be there for her, this is a genetic relationship our fathers laid. ones nigeria becomes a safest place, the rest of africa will be good for life.

LETS SING OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM TOGETHER

IN ENGLISH:
[God bless our homeland Ghana,
And make our nation great and strong,
Bold to defend for ever
The cause of Freedom and of Right.
Fill our hearts with true humility
Make us cherish fearless honesty,
And help us to resist oppressor's rule
With all our will and might for evermore.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Mugabe At African Union: Let’s Stand Up To West by omoghana22: 9:10pm On Feb 02, 2012
a true Pan African, but why now? was Mogabe not there at the las AU meeting before the NTC took over Libya? well i think you have said it all, but be more careful because you could be their next target since you have revealed their secrete toward Africa.

Indeed our leaders are cowards. The OAU Mission was not form just to be having meetings. It was for African to unite and defends their internal affairs. I thank God , president Mugabe has displayed the real picture. It is not too late because the best time we failed was yesterday, the best time to stand is now. To me, you are the last man standing. African are behind you, our ancestors are behind you, go ahead and let make a changes.

Nri is an ancient Igbo city-state in Anambra State Nigeria. The Kingdom of Nri was a center of learning, religion, and commerce in pre-colonial West Africa. Historians have compared the significance of Nri, at its peak, to the religious cities of Rome or Mecca: it was the seat of a powerful and imperial state that influenced much of the territories inhabited by the Igbo of Awka and Onitsha to the east; the Efik, the Ibibios, and the Ijaws to the South; Nsukka and southern Igala to the north; and Asaba, and the Anioma to the west. The rulers of Nri did not use military conquest, but imposition of religious authority and control of commercial routes as tactics in the spread of their city-state. Politically, Nri is known to be the most ancient origins of the Eze kingship in Igbo societies. But Nri and its rulers were also known for their occultic religious Juju, an institution that instilled both awe and fear in those who made pilgrimages to the shrine. Commercially, Nri was against slave holding. "Osu" was the name of outcasts of other communities who migrated and were accepted in Nri. Some Osu became eunuchs. During the colonial period, Nri and the regions under its political, religious, or commercial control became international markets for palm oil. In the heart of Nri influence was the Igbo Ukwu bronze castings.

The origin of Nri people is still a subject of much speculation. What we know for sure is that the Nri clan existed from as far back as the 9th century. Nri (the founder of Nri clan) was the son of Eri (founder of Aguleri) and had migrated to the present day Nri from Anambra (Ama-Mbala) river valley in Northern Igboland. Nri was said to have inherited spiritual powers from his father. The Nri people belong to the Umueri clans who trace their origins to Eri. Northern and Central Igboland, is the homeland of Igbo people.

Pressure Group Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) will hit the streets again January 25 in a demonstration they have christened Atta-Wayo.

The group is lamenting what they say is the strangling fuel price hikes by the governing National Democratic Congress.

The National Petroleum Authority announced a 15-20 per cent price hikes in fuel products beginning January.

Key government officials including the president and his vice have supported the increases.

President John Mills at his encounter with journalists and editors on Monday explained that increasing fuel prices was one of the most painful decisions he had to make, but it was a necessary evil.

He contended that subsidies paid on petroleum products are so huge it was affecting government’s ability to provide other basic social amenities to the people.

He stressed the removal of the subsidies will enable government to channel the resources into other productive areas.

But AFAG claims the president has been dishonest in the fuel politics.

At a press conference to announce the January 25 demonstration, a leading member of the group, Abu Ramadan said the posture of the NDC since coming into power from January 2009 is unacceptable.

He insisted monies accrued out of the sale of illegal margins imposed by the NPA on petroleum products could be used to defray the cost of subsidies.

“What has happened to the monies up to the tune of 690 million cedis lodged at Ecobank as a result of the illegal margins on petroleum product price build-up. Is this not able to provide over 20 years of relief as subsidies on petroleum products to Ghanaians?” he quizzed.

“…We are happy to announce to you AFAG’s Atta Wayo demo to be held in Accra on Wednesday 25th of January 2012.”
