I'm thoroughly dissapointed by this write-up. Extremely shallow and lacking in depth. It focuses entirely on the effect and fails to analyse the underlying drivers. The writer is certainly a poor student of history. There is a popular saying that if you Want to Make Enemies, try to institute change. The reason why the polity is heating up is is that the status quo is being challenged, from the political system to the millitary. Some are threatened by the green shoots of a "new society" that is emerging and must do all they can to stamp it out. The cabal that have held us hostage for so long fear a fundamental, paradigm shift that threatens their power base, their survival. Under Yaradua, the status quo was promoted and preserved. Change, as little as there was, was as confused as it was slow. It amazes me that we demand change, but expect it to happen without a cost, without resistance from beneficiaries of our failed system. A nation like ours will never emerge from the gutters without a revolutionary, transformational zeal. The status quo must be challenged whatever the consequences. This much we owe ourselves, and our children. |
just hope that their threat remains just words, they ve d rights to voice out against IBB but to go further than that will be an infringement on IBB's rightA right he denied many! They are absolutely spot on. If he claimed he feared for his safety in Lagos when summoned to answer to charges by the courts, he should be equally petrified to campaign in the same city. How can he so blatantly take people for fools. He is a major league bas.ta.rd. Don't see any contradiction in the position taken by these people. |
Framing up opponents in order to win elections might lead to chain of assassinations and unnecessary loss of lives. The best option is to let the law take its due course without interference or clear attempts of frame up.Dude, on what basis have you drawn this conclusion? Let me guess. Lifted straight out of that selfish, backward northerner's (Chiroma) script and presented as fact? Grow up son, in the best interest of your children born and unborn. |
I love OBJ, I don't think many could have done beta in his shoes, it mustn't have been easy all those dogs scrambling for positions to gorge themselves on and he keeping them at bay. I still no gree say the Otta farmer stole TOO MUCH or any degree comparable to IBB's.Very true. OBJ is grossly misunderstood. He made mistakes yes. But majority of people criticising him base their conclusions on opinions expressed in the Sun newspaper. He did not steal anywhere near as much as any of the leaders before him (with the exception of Buhari perhaps). |
I love this man OBJ!! I feel him so much. Too bad he's so misunderstood. |
Why is the Nigerian establishment so petrified by Change? Why do they feel threatened by non-nothern leaders? Yar as was effective as a cold stone, yet these same northerners were desperate to perpetuate him in office. Not a complaint about his worthlessness as a leader. Are they threatened by a progressive, fair Nigeria?? Nigerians, WAKE UP !!! |
@Poster, this is called crab mentality. In Nigeria personal interest supercedes public interest. As long as they can millions of $'s through illicit patronage, they do not care if the masses crash and burn! The poster is right that the nothern power block are petrified by the new order that would emerge. They will not see power for another 12 years. In that time IBB and Co would probarbly be dead (in addition to the drastic re-balancing of power structures). This is what bothers the likes of Ciroma, Yakaissi and Co. The man who is currently the deputy chair of IBBs campaign organization was at the forefront of lobying to be GEJs vice not so long ago. Now he suddenly believes IBB is better than GEJ! Politics of self interest just goes on and on, If only our people where enlightend enough, brave enough, these men would have been dealt a major blow. If only, |
'Big men' in Nigeria never face justice however severe their crimes. Ibori has been in detention in a foreign country for many months awaiting extradition to the UK. If it were in Naij, our 'elites' will be aducing puny reasons for his travails, other than justice. Ok, lets see it this way. This investigation is not an entirely Nigerian affair. The UK, US, Interpol and SA are involved. These guys no dey look face o! With his campaign flagging, IBB was desperate for a spectacular in order to discredit GEJ. He found that spectacular in an IBB. I say let loose OBJ, Azazzi and heavy weights on this nuisance of a vermine that is IBB. About time he's dealt a massive blow. He no big pass Nigeria. |
I heard it was $2 billion in one pocket, $5 billion in another and $10 billion stashed in his socks. All cash. Lets get the naij police to do a body "sarch" on GEJ, since this is something dey excel at. |
Nigerian politics is so pedestrian. So predictable. And the people so gullible. I'm baffled that selfish people like Ciroma, Yakassai, Atiku and IBB are provided with platforms to air garbage. These guys are the problem Nigeria faces today. They are the ones holding us back and determined to retain northern dominance at any cost. Why are these people so scared of Obasanjo and the south in general? With every passing day, I appreciate what Obasanjo was / is all about. Nigeria is not the exclusive domain of these backward, illiterate and selfish lot. |
Its funny though. Why would an assassin leave in his phone a text message sent to his client concerning the job he's being paid to do? something is not just adding up.Because these "guns for hire" are crude and un-enlightened. They are not as sophisticated as you may think. They are also very arrogant and feel they can get away with anything (and they mostly do in Nigeria). Anyone who fails to see IBB's footprints in the bombings is having a laugh. The ONLY way IBB, whose campaign is going no where fast, believes he can defeat GEJ is to do the spectacular. With his campaign desperately flagging, he has embarked on mass murder all in a bid to raise questions about the security credentials of the incumbent. Did you see how his people where all over the press the day after the bombings with thier propaganda on security? In any other civil society, that would have been enough to beam the search lights on him. This is not the time for politics. This was all sponsored by ignorant, arrogant, desperate and backward northerners, who view the coming elections as their only chance of survival in the new Nigeria that's likely to emerge under GEJ. I swear, IBB and Atiku have to be the most desperate, monsters in Nigeria, responsible for holding our nation back. I say lock them both up. including Dopkesi. Those b.asta.rds need to fry. |
I don't think @ poster violates the code. Poster I can assure you that you are in safe territory. Corrections aside, no one has answered @ posters question o!!? Can our esteemed CFAs and aspiring CFAs in the know please shoot back? Did u pass by the way? ![]() |
Can someone please put IBB and Atiku out of their miseries?!! Whenever I read their hypocritical, selfish outbursts, it's all I can do to restrain myself from going berseck!! Words cannot describe how painful an experience this is. |
Still dissapointing that all the robbers got away. For them, nothing loss. |
Atiku is an extremely currupt crook desperately seeking a forum to out shine candidates with superior moral standing. He should start by declaring to the public how he became a billionaire over-night!! He should not even be speaking, let alone debating anyone. Thief. |
3rd term or not, I would rather have OBJ through the back door than IBB or Atiku through the front. |
I strongly suggest we henceforth, ignore IBB's apologists on this forum - particularly - ferari90 and Big B1. (If not the same person). Nigeria of today is different from what IBB left behind in the wake of his destructive rule. Anyone supporting him today are doing so simply for selfish reasons - access to power and/or the promise of contracts. That's vintage IBB - vicious, compromising and conniving rogue. Even Ken Nnamani is in it only because he's been promised the VP slot - the only way he believes he will ever rule Nigeria. We will not be fooled. Never, never again. |
Soludu's making lots of sense. The last 3 years have been the worst, as far as fiscal and monetary policies go - in the last 10 years. Despite the banking crisis, Soludu was a more progressive, charismatic leader overall. When economies expand at the pace seen during his time, gaps in policy implementation are bound to grow. Federal Reserve chairmen worldwide - UK - Mervin King, US - Alan Greenspan etc made mistakes. He is spot on. Nothing has been created, saved in the last 3 years. Yaradua's goverment laid the foundation for waste and excess! what is there to show for all that money? I'm convinced that there was much more curruption in the last 3 years in Nigeria (though covertly) than all of OBJ's years combined! |
I completely agree with Ribadu. In the modern era, policing is no longer simply a game of numbers! 30,000 competent, very mobile, dedicated and well equiped police men will be more effective than the 350,000 we have in Nigeria today. There are two key factors to consider here - 1) 5,000 committed, well trained police officers can lead change transformation through the system 2) Violent crime requires rapid response capability and diligent investigative work - 350,000 incompetent zombies may even compound matters. Its only in Nigeria that armed robbers can lay siege to a bank for hours and it will take up to 3 hours for the police to arrive!, despite that these robbers are not that sophisticated. Why isn't there a tactical response unit that includes trained snipers, equipped even with helicopers, motor bikes? All you need do is twart 10 high profile robberies in a state in dramatic style and watch the effect on those crude robbers. The simple truth is that majority of the senior officers are backward, incompetent and have no clue. GEJ has done well by appointing an AIG and hopefully removing all those DIGs. But the police force requires transformative leadership by young, vibrant, dedicated officers like Ribadu. The one thing that shocks me is the mindset of most Nigerians - reading the response on this forum. It shocks me that most people either ignore, or fail to see the reasons the senior police officers wanted Ribadu out at all cost. We just carry on - business as usual and even condemn the victims, sucked in by the extreme propaganda of those desperate to keep Nigeria where it is. I have always believed that in Nigeria, it's the people that are the biggest problem (ignorance!) and not our leaders. |
Let him collect it. As a member of Nairaland, we promise to pay him solidarity visits at Kirikiri. |
for me, the most irritating of them all is ATIKU. Always willing to put his desperation ahead of the collective good. He will now spend billions on expensive lawyers in an attempt to twart the process of governance, if he doesn't get his selfish way. Can't even stand the thought of IBB - I'm disgusted by his being. But that Atiku irritates, disgusts me even more!! |
Commendable, kudos to GEJ. He has my full support. However, I still think the police force needs an outsider (or a member of the lower ranks) to turn things around. Everyone above AIG in Nigeria is currupt. They will not make a difference. Bring in transformational leaders like Ribadu. |
Both attributes are insignificant - if the subject is loaded. WTF?? See failed attempt at big grammar. This doesn't even make sense. SMHMy people, let me break am down (due to popular demand ).When a person is cash loaded, rich - wether person na Monkey or Adolf Hitler sef - then neither personality nor looks matter that much! Or how do you explain ugly mofos ending up with beauty queens just because they have the dosh to make it happen! Est-ce que vous comprenez? |
Both attributes are insignificant - if the subject is loaded. I hereby call it the law of Looks and Personality irrelevance. Or for those more conversant with common economics terms - The law of diminishing relevance of Looks and Personality, which states that - as the NetWorth (or percieved) of the subject increases, the relevance of looks and character diminishes. Shikena. |
She was been interviewed @ d house of Esama of Benin Kingdom, Sir Chief (Dr.) Gabriel Igbinedion CON JPon his 76thWTF!! Our people and their obsession with titles. @poster - Please go easy on the shorthand , Plain writing will do nicely. |
OBJ should not be compared to IBB in any respect. To me, it's like comparing night and day. IBB is pure evil. Selfish in the indignant. Bad, bad rubbish. Disclaimer: I'm not Yoruba. |
Am not a fan of IBB but these yoruba people should stop rating IBB as the worst thing that has ever happened to this country. His BADDEST (sic) was at par with OBJ's . . . . . . . . . .CosIBB is the worst thing to ever befall Nigeria. He's at par with the likes of Mobutu Sese Seko! Disclaimer: I am not Yoruba. |
Targeted assasitions will be more clinical and effective. Target the greediest amongst them. It'll force others to seek the path of honour. |
Some threads just don't make sense at all! Hissing in bewilderment and shifting to more sensible threads, |
No. |
What's the heck? Do you know if IBB has repented and is now ready to take Nigeria to destiny landPossible. Each person must do their own risk assesment. I, personally, see nothing in IBB's attitude since 'stepping aside' to suggest that he has. IBB who never criticises anything / anyone unless his personal interest comes under threat cannot suddenly defend the interest of the common man as President. He reeks of curruption, cronyism and intolerance. There is however much bigger issues at stake here. He is an indicted ex absolute ruler and there are many Nigerians, more capable than he will ever be to lead Nigeria. |
@kabikaka and @Poster, You are a disgrace to rational thinking. .Traits of a lazy mind. It is not necessary to insult people who are probarbly more clever than you are (as can be descerned from your post!) simply because you don't agree with their views, or possess an inferior level of logic In the principle of democracy, there is something they "franchise"- it is the right to vote and be voted for. If a citizen is therefore unquestionably dis-enfrachised, it is tantamount to unlawful withdrawal of rights (crime).LMAO, see grammer. My friend close that dictionary you're reading, the thing don dey confuse you! Even though I dont support the candidature of IBB, I can never condemn Dokpesi, he is a Nigerian, he has the right to a political and ideological affiliation. That right (in as much as is not against the constitution) is non-negotiableGrow up son! His right to support anybody, even Lawrence Anini, is respected. That has been repeated severally on this thread. Infact, he is free to support Hitler re-incarnate to rule over Nigeria if he chooses to. However, my right to freedom of expresion, which necessarily includes the right to boycott whatever station / product I choose is also sacrosanct and must be respected. I am intent on exercising that right to the fullest, for the future well-being of my country, as well as for conscentious reasons. For now, AIT is no longer a channel I subscribe to, until a yet to be determined time following the coming elections. It takes a certain type to pay for the right to be subjected to what is likely to be extreme, illicit propaganda and bad rubbish. |
