Crime / How The Society Views Yahoo Boy. by Omokiez: 9:57am On Feb 22, 2018 |
7 questions you always wanted to ask a Yahoo boy pulse.ng Feb 19, 2018 1:00 PM A yahoo boy tells us what it means to be one, whether all internet fraudsters are involved in fetish practices and why we are all criminals. Yahoo boys have become a challenging part of Nigerian society. Their fraudulent activities, profligate lifestyle and the schemes pulled by international syndicates have made them the focus of anti-crime agencies in Nigeria and around the world. (Buzzfeed) When he first learned, in detail, about internet fraud and the people we call ‘yahoo boys’, Bola* didn’t need to ask too many questions before taking his place. Yahoo boys have become a challenging part of Nigerian society. Their fraudulent activities, profligate lifestyle and the schemes pulled by international syndicates have made them the focus of anti-crime agencies in Nigeria and around the world. On the other hand, they support entire families and industries by bringing millions of illegal dollars into the local economy. Bola was not poor in the Nigerian sense of the word. It was his desire for something extra; an escape from the insecurity that plagues every other Nigerian that directed his strength to international dating sites and falsified documents. Unlike many of his peers, he seems to understand his trade for what it is. Under the condition of anonymity, I spoke with Bola about what it means to be a yahoo boy. 1) Did you join because your lifestyle was that bad, or it was just an easy escape? "It's not that simple. So when I first got interested, I was doing pretty okay. My parents gave me an allowance so even if I was broke sometimes, I could expect money in like a week. You understand?" "But that kind of money is not what we’re talking about. You can’t compare 5,000 naira that I was spending in a week to how much I can make from one transfer now. The thing is I just thought about back then, and I saw that even after leaving school and getting a job, you can never make enough in this country." Nigerian internet fraudsters live a lavish lifestyle defined by parties and club nights. (Buzz Nigeria) "So after you get a job, what happens? You suffer for a while and get a promotion, the suffering continues. It was not that my lifestyle was bad, I just chose a better option." 2) Is it all just smart schemes or is there jazz involved? "This your question sha. It’s different for everybody. And it depends on what you want to do. When I first started working, I learned dating. That one takes skill, you have to know how to talk to a woman, do all the right things and make her love and trust you without seeing you." "Then you start to pull all the schemes. But its hard. Some boys support their own work with jazz (slang for 'voodoo' or 'traditional fetish practices'). Like you’ll see some yahoo boys with gbere (a trail of ritualistic incisions made on a person's skin) or some bracelets or special water." "Some people do more serious things, like they have to bring animals or sleep at the baba’s house and do some things. But in everything, it is just support for the work that you’re doing. If you don’t have a client or account that you’re working with and you now do jazz, you can’t say you’re doing g-plus (slang for internet fraud backed with voodoo). That one is blood money." 3) Is it a healthy lifestyle? "What do you mean, is it a healthy lifestyle, guy? Everyone knows what they are doing. Yes, it's a crime, but all of us in this country are criminals lowkey." "I know what you’re trying to say but most people that are doing legal jobs spend the entire day working and even when they get home, they have more work to do. And it's not even as if their hands are clean." "Is it not someone that just said a snake swallowed money? How many Yahoo boys have 38 million naira?" "I don’t go through that kind of stress." "I can work when I want to work and sleep when I want. I don’t report to any boss. It’s my own personal business." 4) Do you think magas still exist? *maga is the derogatory term used to refer to foreigners who fall victim to internet fraud schemes "Everybody is a maga my guy. If I tell you something is for sale at a cheap price of 300,000 and you say yes, you want to buy." Nigerian scam letter from 1995 (Thrillist) "I go to my guy, buy it for 100,000 naira, paint it and sell it to you, you’re my maga. That’s the problem; when people say maga, they think yahoo boys scam only old white people. But work has advanced more than that." "Did you hear of that guy that scammed Dangote Sugar in 2016? Boys are scamming banks, companies, anywhere that there’s money and you can use papers to take money out, that’s a maga." 5) Is it all yahoo boys that engage in fetish practices? "No now. There are boys on the street that are just hustling, doing dating or bombing and collecting 100 dollars. Those ones are not even thinking about jazz. You people usually think all yahoo boys have money and it’s a lie." "There are yahoo boys that can’t even feed themselves. The thing is that when you work to a certain level and you’re frustrated or you’re making money and you want to step up, boys usually go to a baba or alfa (an Islamic scholar) to boost their hustle." "Another thing is that, you know those boys that walk in cliques and they have bastard money, they usually have a particular fetish thing that they do but you have to join their clique and swear an oath before they can teach you." 6) What do you think about people’s perception of yahoo boys? "I don’t care, except for my father and my mother. This country that we live in is full of fake people that have a holier-than-thou attitude. When they’re talking, they will curse yahoo boys, but when we give them money they don’t say no." "If Yahoo boys were not in Lagos, half of the clubs and cinemas would not function. The money we spend in this country helps so many people. I’m not saying I don’t know what that what I’m doing is a crime. But nobody is holy." 7) Will you ever stop? "I don’t know bro. This hustle can be rough sometimes. You don’t have rest of mind as a working boy. You can’t take your phone out. In Lagos, if the police see you looking fresh, they automatically call you a yahoo boy. I don’t want to live that kind of life when I have a family. My dream is to go legit and invest the money. Or I’ll just go to Southie(slang for “South Africa”)". *Name has been changed in line with individual's wishes to protect privacy |

Hope it's not a pictorial shambles like that of popular Effurun Roundabout in Delta State where the then Governor listed most of his achievements what we saw was a scam used to deceived the good people of the State. What's on ground there at the popular Effurun Roundabout in Delta State is very much more differ from what was published on media. In light of that I pray Osun State's own be real as seen here. 1 Like |
Family / Re: My Wife Tried To Commit Suicide Because Of This by Omokiez: 11:17am On Dec 22, 2017 |
Well well well, firstly let me start by thanking God something bad that will cost life never happened. In my own opinion she went too far. Committing suicide over a mere money matter is very vey uncalled for. Any normal human being will go angry when faced with such insincere monetary situations, considering the economic hard times befalling Nigerians at least she ought to understand that. My candid advice is to involve her family in this issue and he should be mindful of his actions towards her henceforth. And for the wife please the world is a simple place to live, if you commit suicide at yours husband expense is going to hurt him more than the good you thought of, think about your child, her up - bringing and her future. And more also remember the Bible condemned taking ones own life by his or herself. |

A school in one of the Delta State Communities very close to the oil city of Warri called Ehwerhe Primary school, Agbarho in Ughelli North LGA, where pupils sit on dilapidated cracked floor to study. Where are the Governors, Senators, House of Representatives members and the rest to mention... Don't just sit there in Abuja and Lagos shuttle Abroad as if travelling interstate journey. Your people needs your if not all little contributions to the development of rural areas to better the lives of the grassroots citizens you claim to represent in various Governmental agencies. Please do your best.

Man, I would have loved to be silent but I just wish to say a view words. Frankly speaking, I think your wife did the right thing by registering the child with his father real name. You wouldn't advice your wife to register him in your name do you? By such move it saves you all from future incidences likely to occur if at all who knows...? The fact that you love the child does not guarantee you as his biological father. Show him all the love you can, he will also call daddy even till adulthood. 2 Likes |

Politics / Delta State Election Tribunal by Omokiez: 9:48am On Jul 12, 2015 |
DELTA ELECTION TRIBUNAL: 10 SENIOR
ADVOCATES OF NIGERIA CANNOT HELP GOV.
IFEANYI OKOWA TO STAY BEYOND 90 DAYS AT
THE UNITY HOUSE.
By: Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe.
The legal tussle at the Delta State Election
Tribunal is gradually gathering momentum as
Chief Thompson Okpoko (SAN) and his legal
team tackles three other Senior Advocates of
Nigeria led by Alex Iziyon (SAN), employed by the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Gov. Ifeanyi
Okowa of Delta State.
The game plan of the Okowa legal team is solely
to dig-up a "technical ground" to quash the
petition filed by the All Progressives Congress
(APC) governorship candidate in the April 11
election, Olorogun O'tega Emerhor (OON). Trust
the diligent prosecution skills of Chief Okpoko
who became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN)
on the 27th day of February, 1987. Slow but
steady, the Chairman of Body of Benchers (2004)
knocked off all manner of legal scheming put
forward by the Okowa team.
Relevant sections of the amended Electoral Act
has indeed made it possible for election petitions
to be heard and determined on merit and never
again to be quashed on cheap technical grounds.
But the PDP/Okowa team are hell bent on looking
for "cheap technical" loopholes to send the
petitioners case to an early grave. Trust the legal
know-how of Justice Nasiru Gumi who repeatedly
drummed it in the ears of the three senior
advocates on the Gov Okowa side that his
tribunal is all out to do justice and justice only is
good enough without fear or favour.
The petitioners are in high hopes, just as
Olorogun O'tega Emerhor and majority of Deltans
are optimistic that the victory of Senator Okowa
is a product of electoral fraud and several
malpractices. Deltans are yearning for "air of
freedom" from the satanic grip of the PDP in the
State, from 1999 till date. Okowa's popularity
rating has declined rapidly since May 29. His first
"gross misconduct" was perfected within 72 hours
after taking Oath of office. He sacked over 3,000
civil servants and launched a White Elephant
project of 6,000 jobs for Deltans so as to obtain
N150 billion loan from various financial
institutions. When obtained, the loan will certainly
find its way into private pockets and further
increase the debt profile of Delta State. Of a truth,
PDP has ruined Delta State, economically.
During the April 11 Governorship elections in Delta
State, some persons suspected to be officials or
agents of the Independent Electoral Commission
(INEC) as well as PDP agents and political thugs
were caught on camera thumb-printing ballot
papers for the PDP. APC supporters in some parts
of the state were chased out of polling stations,
some were beaten thoroughly, INEC result sheets
manipulated and PDP simply allocated figures to
APC and the Labour Party. To make it look as if
the APC and its candidate were insignificant, the
evil merchants at INEC and the PDP placed the
Labour Party and its candidate second position
with little above a hundred thousand votes and in
the same token allocated less than eighty
thousand votes to the APC and placing it in the
third position.
The rigging wizardry of the PDP and its political
tacticians came to light as some of their agents
involved in ballot box stuffing were arrested and
others recorded on video and posted on social
media. There is also a conflict between the
number of voters captured by the INEC card
readers and figures declared at the end of the
governorship election.
For real, the Tribunal Chairman and his able
colleagues have demonstrated high level integrity
such that the PDP and its candidate will not be
able to get away with the stolen mandate. As it is
today, 10 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) will
not be able to help Governor Okowa remain in
Government House more than 90 days from May
29, 2015. Thereafter, Deltans will have another
opportunity to elect their progressive Governor to
commence socio-economic transformation of
Delta State. Olorogun O'tega Emerhor sure have a
date with destiny. For now, Okowa is a caretaker.
