What they have now is a private offer. The public offer will come in the early part of next yr.

Check out the Croos river state website here, http://www.crossriverstate.com/ and the TINAPA project at http://www.tinapa.com/. I think what we need is an image promotion. Security in Naija is not exactly worse than some tourist destinations all over the world.
Travel / Re: Tourism Can Bring Serious Income to Nigeria by omon(m): 2:35am On Dec 28, 2005
There is a big tourism project going on at TINAPA, Calabar, if that succeeds, many other attractions in Naija may pick up life. Yankari is a potentiall safari in waiting as well as the beaches in Lagos if they r managed well.

Benin City is where I come from and Ekpoma is my home town. I don't need all that crap when I get home. Do not induce uneccessary fear into people. The basic thing is to go back home and live normally, don't show off with flashy cars and lifestyle. All these fears are all media hype. I was in Trinidad recently, the crime rate there is alarming! but tourists go to Trinidad and Tobago like no mans business

@kokscity, now if you know the history of your present country and their policies towards africa, I am sure you will be ashamed of the US. Yours is a matter of convenience and you see no need in resilience to achieve. Now the so called superpower of the US will fall one day... Remember the Roman empire? Who ever believed that China will be the worlds 6th most superior economy? Just watch out see what will happen in 15 yrs time.

The point we have made here is that the US economy is presently better than Nigeria's, but it is no haven like you see it. The yr I visited Nigeria does not matter, I am in constant touch with base at home.

Stop all the stupid shit! Nigeria is not a scare crow. Except you want to show off as someone who just came from yankee, you don't need all those escorts. Move around like you used to when you once lived in Nigeria. The crime in Nigeria is not worse than what you have in south africa, but more visitors go to south africa.

What do you have in Ghana, Senegal, Botswana and South Africa that you don't have in Nigeria? Don't be fooled by media hype, 90% of the business in south africa are owned by the white folks. If u ask me, apartheid is not completely over there. There are certain cities blacks cannot live, what sort of country is that?
Travel / Re: So Many Young Men in Nigeria Planning to go to the US by omon(m): 6:58pm On Dec 25, 2005
For all the patriots, I hail you guys. We must realise that the UK and USA have fed on the resources of other countries, Nigeria included. In the days of colanisation, Nigerians had to work for the white man and pay taxes to their govt. That is what built the cities some people don't even know the history of.

We are moving on, our prayer is that a good leader comes after OBJ, then watch out for Nigeria!

How many people earn $120 a day? And how much can you exactly accomplish with factory pay in the US?  I agree that Nigeria is in a dire condition, but it is misleading coming here to tell Nigerians that going abroad is to meet with bed and roses...  Just like you have youths in Nigeria selling pure water, stealing, mugging etc, so do you find them in the so called glory land, doing all lsort of credit card scams, cheat on benefit claims, steal, push hard drugs etc.

Now I am not in denial that we still have mountains to climb in Naija, but plsss the same mountain exactlyt waits for you overseas. I was reading recently in a report ofo how Nigerians have died in teh desert and drowned in the oceans in a bid to get to europe.

From what i read in the media now, it does not seem all wow! for the blacks (minority) in the US.  I ihope you are not giving too much good impression of black life in the US, there is still the 4th generation slavery there.

Well, do you also know that the improvement in the economies of India, Brazil etc is mainly due to the contributions of their citizens in diaspora?  If Nigeria is to count on people like you in Yankee, then the country will bleed to death.  It seems when you ent to these countries you probably slept in some well of hotels and did not know all is not totally well in these countries.. There is visible hunger in India that the world does not sing about.. I think it all depends on which country the media favours. A foreign reporter who comes to cover a good story in Nigeria will always end it with one bad attribute, they feel it is never complete without that bit. However, that is not the same way stories are reported in other countries. Do you read of the crimes in south africa as you do of Nigeria?

As for Nigerians living the country, I will say one is that of ignorance. People think they will just walk into the US and be embraced with that plumb job...Nooo way! many have had to resort to illegality to survive. These are the Nigerians who give the country a bad name.  Is that the kind of dream land you want?

If you are still confused about what I mean, try and watch the latest episode of Nigerian International here..http://www.lagos-online.com/

Mr Kokscity, I think you have taken it too far. I will tell you a fact, the system in America is not designed for you. You can be thrown out any time. I have had friends here in the UK who have been fustrated out of the system...these are high degree professionals. They have gone back to Nigeria, things were pretty slow at first, they soon found their feet and are walking tall.

I am sure you pay all your bills in America. I am sure when you were in Nigeria, you had to cut corners to avoid paying bills and still wanted heaven and earth from the govt. It is the same people who have killed Nigeria at home that are still killing Nigeria in their new destinations...

You did not tell me how many blacks in America are billionaires, why does the ACLU have so many lawsuits in court? Why are blacks in America seen as low achievers? Why does Nigeria and Nigerians in America have a stinking reputation? Why do you feel less human to your next door neighbour? Why do you work round the clock to eck a living? Why as a professional do you work in a factory floor? These are the many questions and much more you ask in America.

Nigeria has its own questions, every country does. The ordinary black south african still ask questions so many yrs after apartheid...the list goes on.

It was mentioned that there are several millionaires in America, you did not tell us how many are blacks or Nigerians. For the basis of comparison, can we assume that our democracy is just taking a foothold of our national life while the likes of Singapore, Malaysia have enjoyed stable govt for some decades? And what exactly does Ghana have that makes it better than Nigeria?

During the great depression in America, it was almost unlivable..but the people stood by their country and turned it around. Why have you given up hope so easily? The great depression in America lasted for years but the Americans persevered. Now when Nigerians talk of marginalisation, I laugh because there is no state that is favoured.. If you know of any, let me know.

My brother,, there is nothing like your own. We have seen it in Brazil,, Argetinia, etc where people stood by their country and are winning the war against poverty. If you are resourceful in America, plan to come backk home and do things that can put water, light, transportation iin better place.

Cheers and remain blessed. Remember, Nigeria must survive, Nigeria must rise.

@kokcity, you seem to forget that only 50 years ago, life was hard for the average black man in USA? I believe the blacks in America in that time would have preferred to live outside the US. Like a fellow said earlier, you are eating done soup in over there and you are making so much noise. It was a different story in the US only 50 years ago..I am talking about the 1950s and 1960s...So don't rule out the possibility of Nigeria coming off the woods in 10 years.

Ghana and South Africa started changing as soon as democratic govts came into place. This is our time to change things and I believe we would.

All you guys should kool down... It is becoming clearer that even the south africans are seeing a lot more than we can see within Nigeria. That is why we long to go outside and the south africans/Indians are taking up places and setting the pace for 'first mover advantage'.. Lets watch and see what becomes of Transcorp.

You shoudl not rejoice at others misfortune... If we have a pragmatic leader, Edo state for example can be turned around with or without oil. You should not also forget that the oil wil run out one day, so the people in the Niger Delta should also be on the look out for alternatives now.

I am sorry I exaggerated a bit there..but I am just sick of these governors not knowing what to do with money they get. I am from Edo state and you need to be there to see the rot iin the society there. The gov. turns a blind eye to it.

One report puts it that the likes of Bayelsa and Delta gets up to 9 billion naira monthly. How many other states in Nigeria gets such amount of money? I know Delta state even earns higher than that.. The truth is that you can build a brand new city that can compare with Tokyo with that amount if they are prudent. So make sure you blame you leaders as well for the woes in the Niger Delta

I can tell you that it is Nigerians who scare people from visiting our motherland by their stories. If you do a background check, some of these Nigerians have not travelled to the country in the past 20 years. Some only see Nigeria on CNN.

I did not read that US millitary personnel will come and man our various oil facilities. My guess is that the understanding between us and them is mainly technical and maybe financial, which I think we are in dire need of. The chaos in the Niger Delta has gone too far! How do you justify a situation where you travel into these areas with your heart in hand because of the actions of the Asaris and several cult groups?

Nigeria should avail itself with whatever help it can get to oget rid of the menance that has turned our society into a laughing stock.

@Owo, you are getting it all wrong! No body is saying Nigeria is a haven already and so we must celebrate and congratulate OBJ.  No! we are yet to get to the promised and we must strive to get there.

Hpw can you say the Govt is brutal with their police (force as you call it) and then turn around and carry the same guns and violent means to fight the government - it won't work!  Like I have said before and I will say it again, what Nigerian youths like you and me need is economic freedom - economic empowerement. That should be the focus of MASSOB and Asari.

The Igbos are very resourceful people and the Ijaws are well endowed.  Turn that into some form of synergy and see how much you will grow. That is geniune freedom. The fustration and poverty in the land is what is driving these youths to support the so called freedom fighter. Give the Igbos their land and sovereignity and they will still remain poor until they seek economic empowerement.
Politics / Re: How to shut down Nigeria - lessons from MASSOB by omon(m): 10:50pm On Dec 09, 2005
The purspose of a civil struggle is for freedom and equality of life. How can you achieve that when by your very actions like the those of MASSOB and Asari maim the lives they are supposed to protect and fight for. If MASSOB does not fall into the category of the Asaris, tell me who burnt Zik's house. How did 12 people dies in the the recent riots by MASSOB? Did the police shoot at demonstrators who behaved peacefully? There were several peaceful protests in Bayelsa recently, I did not hear of any police shooting..

Have you not seen how civilised protests are carried out? Do you need to burn tryes, smash car windscreens, burn houses and beat people? Business was paralysed in the east during the MASSOB strike because people belived they will be maimed if the dare go out for business. There is nothing peaceful about that!
