Travel / Re: Who Has Been to London? by omon(m): 5:16pm On Oct 09, 2005
There is nothing so fanciful about london. All the house look the same, there is no vibrant colour - same sour looking english man - only the blacks add some colour with good smiles. There are no billboards by the road side to give colour - just the same thing all the streets.....Narrow roads, good parks though...

Career / Re: Nigerians Studying Abroad: Would You Go Back Home To Work? by omon(m): 1:01pm On Oct 07, 2005
There are good jobs in nigeria too. A friend of mine had two offers - in the UK and in Nigeria after our studies. He chose the Nigerian job because of what it offered and the opportunities he would get. I will take up a job in Nigeria if it is good just like I will go to any country for the same purpose.
Family / Re: Your Child Says, "Daddy, Mommy, I'm Gay!" by omon(m): 9:46pm On Oct 06, 2005
If you all claim that being born gay is natural, how come many who manage to realise themselves and become christians are suddenly attracted to the opposite sex?  I have seen it on a reality programme 'Cheaters' and so many other programme. Soon, according to western standards, incest and those involved with child pornography will soon be a natural thing.  There are already nudists in the street of london, I guess that is natural too? The western world accepts it does not mean it is right!

Fornication and adultery are not seen as sins anymore.  It is a demonic force sweeping across the earth...

Career / Re: Are Nigerian 'Graduates' Really Graduates? by omon(m): 10:07am On Oct 05, 2005
Ok, Codec, in every society, you have those who can go through the educational system. It is not different here in UK. There are lots of British people who can't go to scholl and will not go to school, but you count them as literate because they speak english-that is their language.

You would not have heard of Cranfield b/cos it is a school for postgraduate study and research only. You have to be working in the industry to know their worth, or you may want to ask your lecturers. Well, I studied Offshore Pipeline Engr in the school. Some of my friends are working here in the UK and some have gone back to Nigeria and they earn good money too.

I don't agree with your statistics that only 2% of Nigerian graduates are good - where are you getting such data? I agree the system is not as good as it used to be, but it will wrong to outrightly rubbish those who have worked hard to get through the system

I studied mechanical engineering in UNIBEN. Hey Scorpio, were you ever in UNIBEN?
Career / Re: Are Nigerian 'Graduates' Really Graduates? by omon(m): 6:57pm On Oct 04, 2005
Codec, I agree with Obong and you should try and respect what people say. Find out about Cranfield University, the courses they offer and the respect they have earned themselves in major industries. And for your information, most of my Nigerian classmates are working with top flight oil companies. Finally, birds of the same feather flock together, that might explain why you have not met with brilliant Nigerians abroad...lol. On a serious note, in the journey through my career, I have met outstanding Nigerians in various fields who had studied in Nigerian universities. I think you should learn to acknowledge that. May be FUTO was not good enough, but Greatest UNIBEN! gave me what I needed for a start.

U guys talk rubbish! I just finished an MSc in UK with some guys, we all came from Nigeria together on the course. We all finished top in the class, better than the English or French guys. What are you guys talking about? We did our first degree in Nigeria and did very well here, always ahead of our classmates.
I can also reveal that the school we attended is one of the top post graduate school in the whole of Europe! in case you are in doubt.

Travel / Re: So Many Young Men in Nigeria Planning to go to the US by omon(m): 2:27pm On Sep 30, 2005
Hey Angel, I do understand it is easier in SOME yankee countries than Naija, but the perseption of many is that they can just travel abroad without working hard to make money - that is the point I am trying to make. I have known of people who have equally worked hard in Naija and are making big time!
Travel / Re: So Many Young Men in Nigeria Planning to go to the US by omon(m): 9:02pm On Sep 29, 2005
In case you don't know...'yankee hard oo!! The problem with us in Naija is the belief that other countries are better than us. If some travels to Sudan only to come back and lie that it is bread and butter there, you will see people jumping to go there. Yankee hard!!!
Politics / Re: Does It Really Pay to Serve Nigeria? by omon(m): 11:21pm On Sep 25, 2005
Well said...the best way to serve your country is to do your work the best way you can, not because you are looking for any reward, but that it is going to impact positively on the society. Don't forget that there are many like you all over the country in theior service years and in due time, what you have sown will come back to you. It is a law laid down by God and will only come at the right time.

I guess it is people like you that does not make Nigeria grow appropriately by developing attitudinal problems. The nest thing we will hear is that you want to jet out of the country as if other countries don't have their wahala. You need a change of attitude my guy..do not treat your mother land with disdain. If Mandela fought for freedom because he wanted some 'medals' for freedom, I am sure he would not have gone this far!

Nairaland / General / Re: Breaking News: Explosions in London AGAIN by omon(m): 7:24pm On Jul 26, 2005
If this bomb had happened in nigeria, every country would have stopped their citizen from travelling to Nigeria. I guess our govt have so much to do to treat the other countries just the same way we are being treated.
Travel / Re: Desperate to Travel to Europe by omon(m): 7:12pm On Jul 26, 2005
Our internal information minstry or service is not doing enough to educate Nigerians of the dangers of going abroad even when there is no ambition/purpose for making such a trip. Many are sufferring, squatting in rooms they will never dare stay in Nigeria and do all sort of menial jobs. What more? many are jailed and die in the process.

I particularly like the fact that you can listen to FRCN and watch NTA news. It will be better if they will be able to display live onlinestreams of NTA programmes as well, that will be fun. They should also work on those links that don't work.

Health / Re: Problem of Fake Drugs in Nigeria by omon(m): 11:21pm On Jul 12, 2005
I am sad that all the Indians could export to our country are fake and counterfeit drugs and they even brag about it! The callousness with which they make these drugs even when they know it means death for another. I am angry at the greedy Nigerian that would go and buy such drugs.

We need men and women in the calibre of Dora to deliver us from the hands of the money crazy people so that our society will be the one we are proud of.

TV/Movies / Re: Common Flaws in Nigerian Home Videos by omon(m): 12:19pm On Jul 02, 2005
Why do they always end up shouting!!! in Nigerian movies? They hardly know how to show different emotions. I don't think every natural Nigerian shouts all the time.
