Me I'm a research assistant at xoxo company where I research into improvement of livestock fed hay and forages.

Me (I stuttered and at this point I thought I had blown it.) I will be evaluating the effect of experimental formulation of experimental diet on livestock
(this was total rubbish from what I had in mind I had to just join something to make sound legit)


VO tell me about your thesis

Me (I already gathered some momentum here) I will be working on use of fungal enzymes to develop nutritive additives to improve profitability in livestock production.

Me my brother mr kazeem , who is into oil and gas business. He also has real estate business and he currently oversee the family business.

I remember picking the word passport and i-20. The moment I noticed she took my passport and didn't use her left hand to pick the blue paper, my mind was screaming "it's a lie"


The atmosphere was really bad today Chelsea FC just full Abuja embassy today. I would say 1 out of every 20 that went in was given white paper. I had to pinch myself if I wasn't dreaming.

This visa thing is not even by how fluent you might think you are. I was shaky throughout. At a point I told myself "Ayo, tiẹ ta". At that point I forgot what my thesis is about...I saw guys that were very fluent and even confident... na Blue paper dem collect.

PS- I don't work with the federal government. FG being helpful to my life for the very first time. It was nice doing business with Nigeria for almost 3 decades...

Who go dash me correct jacket wey fit hold -20⁰C. Maine is not for the weak.

Vo then carried a paper and wrote “thesis” then showed me


Me: okay you mean thesis, I will be working with Dr ABC who is a monetary economist at the school, we will be working on a thesis topic : *Nexus between unemployment and inflation* . We will gather data from Nigeria and USA for our analysis. We will be using co integration technique, granger causality test, Ecm etc. We will be using Philip Curve as our literature review.

Vo: where were you working before?

Me: I worked with ABC limited

Vo; a forex company?
Me: yes, we deal with foreign currencies.

Vo: it’s a family business right? (this question made me realize that she was asking me questions based on the answers I have given in this past by this time I realize i need to be consistent)

Me: yes, it is owned my uncle, I worked as an account officer there, I was responsible for their receivables and payables account, and budgeting. Before I left there I was able to recover #77m potential bad debts for the company.

Vo: where do you work now?

Me: I work as a lecturer with ABC where I am responsible for course development, teaching and grading students exams and seminar papers

Vo: what courses do you take

Me; I take micro and macro economics courses

Vo: okay. That’s good

Vo: will you be returning to the institution after your masters

Me: haven gained necessary skill, knowledge, experience and exposure in the course of this study, I will be returning back to my current work place to pick up a role is senior lecturer. I have a study leave approval here with me

Vo: how many siblings do you have

Me: myself, my brother and my sister including my parent.

She typed for a while and reach out to the white paper and said congratulations… who cares about the rest

I am still in shock, God is faithful, never give up on your dreams. I have been on this since 2016 but God did it in 2022. I was divinely favoured all through.. i stammered and stammered but the lady actually was calm with me. I will never be ungrateful to God.

Guys, pls don’t give up on your dreams, my application is another example to us that God will do it at the right time. DON’T GIVE UP

I initially applied to with all the same details however my funding at the time was different. All the costs were shouldered by a friend


I was interviewed by the young white man on window 8

VO: Good morning, How are you doing
Me: I am doing well thank you
VO: Please pass me your documents, Where are you going?
Me: The University of Missouri to study Medical Informatics
VO: I can see you have an in state tuition? Who will be paying for your deficit?
Me: A friend of mine who has been responsible for my education for a while will foot the bill
VO: Why?
Me: The person has been helpful through my undergraduate days and would like to pay for me graduate studies
VO: I am sorry, you do not qualify at this time according to US Law. This blue paper will tell you why

I was discouraged but I read as much of this thread as i could, Asked more experienced people and was advised to try again with a different funding source


2nd Attempt 13th December. I was interviewed by the balding white man.

VO: Good morning, How are you doing
Me: I am doing well thank you
VO: Please pass me your documents, Where are you going?

Me: The program focuses on applications of IT in improving healthcare, As a medical doctor, I have an interest in improving healthcare especially in Nigeria where there is a lot of room for improvement in the healthcare sector (Something along those lines)
VO: What do you intend to do when you finish?
Me: As part of my research into the program i also looked at post study employment opportunities in Nigeria and found that there is a lot of demand especially in the private sector, As such, i intend to return to put the skills i gained to good use.
VO: I can see you have an in state tuition, how will you pay the rest?
Me: I took out a student loan with Mpower finance for 25k dollars with a maximum of 100k. I also have personal funds of 4k dollars
VO: How will you pay for next year?
Me: The loan can be extended up to a 100k so i will utilize that.
VO: Have you left Nigeria in the last 2 weeks?
Me: No, I have not.
VO: Alright, everything looks good here. I will be approving your visa. This paper will tell you all you need to pick up your passport.
Me: Thank you sir. Have a great day.

Please I need an advice from the guru in the house. My visa was denied on 15th October 2021 in Lagos. I apply for undergraduate program with half scholarship.
During my interview the VO asked for my Scholarship letter which I did not get that from the school.
But I try to explain to VO that the Scholarship was written on the I-20. Immediately I got home I sent an email to the school DSO I’m in contact with, She now send me the Scholarship letter and I also request for a letter of support from the school to support for my new application.

I will resume for spring 2022 in January.

Now I want to reapply and book Abuja for my next interview. I used EA for my last Lagos interview.

Any advice I will be appreciate
