Alenkakent: @slim05 and @itsmelex, thanx a milli, I'd make sure she does as suggested. One more thing came up today when we went for immunizatn, we decided to see d doctor and complain of d baby's unclear eyeballs and we were told she has jaundice. A nurse then told me that the baby will be admitted. ♠ don't want that at @ all so we came home, what can we use to cure d jaundice?

When my baby had jaundice around this time last year, i was asked to get unripe pawpaw soak it in water for 24hours and give him a teaspoon every 3hours and also expose him naked to early morning sun (btw 7-9am).

blank: Also, let your wife stop breastfeeding until the jaundice goes. It makes it go faster.

I don't think there's any need to stop breastfeeding the baby, my son also had jaundice and i breastfed him while he was undergoing treatment (phototherapy).

[quote author=kessy girl]Please I'd like to know if it is adviceable to buy baby bed or let my baby sleep on my bed.
Another thing, please what can I pack in my hospital bag to take to the hospital.
Thank you.[/quote

Most baby beds will just be used for at most a year and then it becomes useless till u have another baby or give it out. For me i didn't buy any baby bed, my baby shares the bed with my hubby & i. For what to pack in the hospital bag check out this link http://community.babycenter.com/post/a42243652/xposted_and_ot-_btdt_moms-packing_your_hospital_bag. Your hospital will also give u a list of what to bring to the hospital for delivery.

Wendy80: My Fellow Mothers, I introduced Nan 2my 2months old baby and she rejected it, I'm worried cos I'm resuming work next work....pls how do I go abt it

I also had the same issue when i was about to resume work, i used SMA once he taste it he'll turn his head away and starts crying. But at the end he didn't have a choice than to take it at the daycare centre when he was hungry and i wasn't around to breastfeed him, though i usually go there to b/feed him during my break time. Just keep on giving the NAN to her, with time she'll get used to it.

bigx:

The higher yields you go for, the more risk you have of loosing your entire capital.
Businesses abound everywhere but there are different businesses for different competencies/temperaments, I might suggest what would not work for you and the aim here is getting the most out of the money you have in the bank. Apart from that I dont go into businesses I cant understand so telling you to invest in something now would be probably self-serving to me or misleading you.

Just invest it in treasury bills or bonds first, the income is small but its better than the 2% from Banks and your initial capital is secured.

If you want to invest in anything riskier,

Please put the money in your Building project, my 2 cents

Thanks bigx, i wll stick with the treasury bills / bonds.
Investment / Re: To Build Or Invest N500,000 by omopretty1: 1:19pm On May 24, 2013
bigx: In this case, the OP wants to keep the money securely that's why I suggested investing in Bonds,

There are other investments that would bring larger results ( I am a business person and I know those things) but the higher the return, the higher the risk,

Thats why I wont advise buying and selling (what if you buy what people dont want or you sell and People decide to owe? Youve lost your capital), she said already that the house isnt for investment purposes, the land has been purchased with a structure on it so its somewhat more secured, and its in a remote area with Poor rental value.
So there really is no rush completing it now.

The land would always appreciate house or not,

Money in the bank would always be hammered by inflation and is open to temptation of "pinching",

Get your money yielding above bank interest rates, when you are ready, complete your house.

The only deviation here is if you are renting currently and need to avoid landlord issues urgently then you can put it into your building.

Take advice from those who've been there, done that.

Nairaland front page is misleading secondary school students might be advising you,

You never know

Bigx pls what other investments can bring higher yield? I'm not good at buying & selling so that idea is out.
Investment / Re: To Build Or Invest N500,000 by omopretty1: 12:24pm On May 24, 2013
dvdon: Investing in asset is a prefered choice anytime. First I will need clearification on what the capacity of the building u mention is. If it is a small building like lock up shops or even a two bedroom appartment, I will advise u continue your building project and rent it. For sure, the 500K may not complete d project like painting n other little finishing touches but not to worry much, u may rent n complete project at the payment from your client.

It's a 3 bedroom bungalow on a plot of land, renting it wouldn't be viable because of the location.

benjamin edicha: Invest the money into bussiness that will yeild returns more than treasury bills or bonds.

What type of business do u suggest as alternatives to bonds/treasury bills?
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by omopretty1: 11:47am On May 24, 2013
I spoke to my acct officer (Fidelity bank) as regards buying T/bills he says for an individual with less than N2m they can only buy for the person at the secondary market and this will be at a lower rate of return. Is this so for other banks?
Investment / Re: To Build Or Invest N500,000 by omopretty1: 3:44pm On May 22, 2013
bigx: Is the house for letting out?
Since you've secured the land already, there is no point,

500k wont complete the house but it would give you roughly 10% annual yield which is roughly the same you should get from renting the house.
The investment options you indicated preserve ur capital so you can leave the money invested, when you have enough, withdraw, complete your house and rent it out,

That way you dont have idle capital stuck as wood/roofing sheets on a building not ready to generate income.

Thanks alot bigx, the house is meant to be residential if i'm to rent it out the rent will be small because of its location.

Please i would like the experts in the house to advice me, i currently have the sum of N500k in my account, i am contemplating whether to invest the money in bonds/treasury bills or continue work on my building site. The building as being at the window level since 2010, it is located in one of the towns close to Ijoko in Ogun state. I will like to hear Nairalanders opinion. Thanks.

Debsolat, i live in Lagos can you please email me the recipes i can feed my 7months baby. My email address is omopretty@gmail.com thanks.

Debsolat:

What is it with Pap people? Stop giving it to him. Depending on where you live, you can start with giving him tsp of baby rice/ground rice mixed with his milk. Cook apple and purée it for him. You need to be consistent with it. Pm me and I can email you various recipes you can try. It takes perseverance but he will catch up and eat soon. Don't despair.
