My Experience at NIS Abeokuta



I arrived the Abeokuta NIS office at 7 AM. I met a security officer at the gate who told me I can only be allowed inside until 8 AM. By 7:50, we already had a crowd of about 70 people waiting at the gate to go in. At 8:05, an NIS officer came to address us at the gate. He asked for the elderly to come forward first, followed by the physically challenged, people with kids, and pregnant women. There, we were asked to present our appointment slip (for those capturing) before entry. You can also show them this on your phone. Next, we were marched to a reception where we wrote down our names and given a tag number (I was the first to arrive but I got tag 25).

Afterwards, we were taken to a holding area that looks like a typical lecture hall.

After some minutes, some officers came to call out the names of people whose application has been vetted. I assume these people have come to submit their applications before today. However, it was my first time there and my application hasn't been vetted. The only thing I did was fill out the application form and pay online.

People in my category were then told to go to one area at the reception to vet our application. After that, we were asked to wait at the holding area, meanwhile they called out the first 40 people having tags 1-40 to head upstairs for capturing.

I was holding tag 25 so I went to meet the officers and asked if I should follow that set of people but I was told to wait behind.

Then the wait began.

I was in the holding area till about 11:30 AM when one officer came to call my name. I followed him upstairs to the capturing room and I was done with capturing at 12:01 PM.


In summary, I was at the NIS office in Abeokuta for a fresh passport application today. I got there at 7 AM and left at 12 PM. The experience was smooth and the officials were professional.


Documents I went with (2* copies each):

1. Payment receipt
2. Appointment slip
3. Application slip

Yes sir.Volvo is cheaper .You can get a 2013 sligjly accidented Volvo XC90 for about $1,200 but can you get a similar year of corolla or Camry for that amount.Never.Anyway,thanks for your time.I'll look elsewhere!!!

Her birth certificate carries place of birth as Warri, while on trying to verify her NIN on immigration website, NIN shows place of birth as Ughelli South.



As I saw it I didn't continue again.

Pls is there a way the place of birth can be corrected on NIN to tally with what's on her birth certificate?

Place of birth is irrelevant. Proceed with your application once name and date of birth tallies

Hello all,I thought the minister said renewals do not need to do biometrics capture again as the uploaded passport photograph will be printed on the international passport. Is it that renewal will still go for capturing again?

The 1.1 kva inverter is high.Insist on a1.5kva inverter. You should be able to get a hood brand of 1.5kva inverter for 80k max.The additional cost here is you will have to budget for 2 batteries as against one.

I have switched off the battery, so the one on the left (which is the one that was apparently working) is now at 12.1v, while the one on the right is still at 12.7v.

When did this sudden gap start? Check the batch numbers / serial numbers of the batteries and post them here.

"If" the Seller says there is One Year Warranty, is it the buyer that should say that is a lie or l dont trust what you are saying?

The reason l am asking is that l always trust what a Seller on this FTA thread says abotu what they are selling, as l often think we are here to help one another, with knowledge and business sales.

I wont be happy if we are turning this thread to "Alaba Boys will just eat your money", or is everyone trading from Alaba now a Crook?

Please do not trust what the seller says. Research and do your independent investigation. Which Alaba seller offers warranty and honours same? I haven't seen any.Even with reputable companies,you have to battle to enforce your warranty in Nigeria.

Most sellers here are just 'baranda' people.They have no idea of the products.They just go round ,take pictures.

And like most people have stated,most of all the solar lamps are not reputable.We all know the good brands but most times we run away because of price.I recently bought SMS 150 solar flood light some 2 months ago for 27k each.I saw other brands for much lesser price but I knew they can't last. Good products are expensive these days so what our guys to us to bring in sub standard ones at attractive price.I was speaking with the sales manager of proton power systems recently and she said even the cost price of a good 200ah Lead Acid battery from China is well above #100k and you see people here posting batteries for 100k,115k and you expect it to be good.I have had my own share of their dishonesty so I do my research and go to the company/importer direct whenever I need anything.It may cost me more buying directly from company but at least I won't gey fake!!!

Omo, I ain't about to do all these DIY shiiiii, I'll call the installer to come replace these batteries with a 48v pack and pay the difference, I guess he doesn't know how inefficient series charging them would be.

Chai! I got two 350W panels some weeks ago. Both connected in parallel and are still unable to charge my 12v 200ah mopower battery full in a day.

350 watts panel will be 24volts.It won't charge your battery if what you have is pwm charge controller.

Hello house.

So i got 2x 24v 150ah blue carbon lifepo4 batteries both connected in series to my 48v 5kva hybrid inverter. The problem now is that it seems that one of the batteries depletes fast than the other, I'm getting a voltage difference of up to 0.4v. I reached out to my installer and he came and hooked up one active battery balancer like but its doubt its doing a good job of keeping packs balanced.

To the experienced guys in the room, how do I fix this issue? The setup is still brand new and if this persist, I plan calling the installer to get me a replacement because I suspect both batteries aint got the same capacity.

The true capacity of your blue carbon is actually 24v 130ah not 150 ah as advertised.The voltage difference of 0.4 is expected because the batteries have separate BMS controlling the charging profile.You need to actually let us know the run time VI's a VI's your load for us to actually advise better but be not deceived,if I remove losses and efficiency,your batteries are actually 24v 100ah usable capacity!!!
