Abagworo: It seems its been long you were home. Onitsha has grown past Feggae which comprise the older part of town. Everywhere is congested with 3 to 5 storey buildings and little space. In Nigeria, you cannot just demolish peoples houses like that unless you are ready to pay even when they are illegally sited. What I meant by Onitsha being planned is that at least 90% of the town is laid out in neighborhood designs/maps. When you talk about it not being planned, you sounded as if you can just build a house anywhere in Onitsha, which is not true. There is Fegge which used to be a low density layout before the war, which gradually started to become higher density. Then there are Awada, Omagba phases 1 and 2, and Nkpor extension which were all high density layouts from the beginning. All of them have neighborhood plans laid out in grid and curvilinear patterns. The only thing lacking in Onitsha are tarred roads, or rather, re-tarred and maintained roads. If you tar all Onitsha roads today, the town will run like a well oiled engine. IMHO Onitsha still needs more densification, around something like 10-20 storey highrise like obtains in Hong Kong and Tokyo. Make me the governor of Anambra state today and I would make that state compete with SEOUL SOUTH KOREA. ![]() |
ifyalways: Bolingo @ Onitsha[/b]and Uno enu @ Aba were home of Ghanaians and Ghana high life.Know some of the songs by heart.hehehe! ![]() How about Menu 80? ![]() |
Abagworo: My brother it is not a thing of international Airport or bad Governance as both are not peculiar to Onitsha or Southeast. The effects of the civil war was a systemic robbery of investments from the Southeast which lead to an early equilibrium between population and available resources. We did our best to survive till the 90s when conditions became unbearable and there was massive migration to Europe, Asia and the Americas. Those who could not afford it just left for anywhere with less competition both within Nigeria and other African countries.I don't know about Aba but I know that Onitsha is well planned. Fegge was even planned by the British. The town needs just tarring of roads. |
Toaskarity: You think soludo can do the job? Im suspecting he will only make the state rich butYes, Obi does not understand the ambient possibilities of Onitsha. Secondly, he is too effeminate! We need a MASCULINE governor in Anambra state; someone who would stare down any person inside Aso rock and tell him what we need. All SE governors are too feminine for my liking. They only show muscles when they see fellow Igbo, but wimp out when they get to Abuja. The idiots don't want to face our oppressors squarely. God will punish all of them. ![]() We don't have an international airport in Igboland. It is killing our economic and wasting our towns! ![]() |
Come to think of it, imagine musicians like Celestine Ukwu, Goddy Ezike, Sir warrior and Peacocks, all basing in Kumasi Ghana and be playing Igbo highlife there in Igbo, with Ghanaians buying all their songs enthusiastically. That is the equivalent of what happened in Onitsha! And people say we, Igbo, are not accommodating? That is a different level of accommodation. All is welcome to our region. The Nigerian system that denied us our right to an international airport, is the reason why Onitsha is dying. ![]() We want our town back! Complete with an international airport! , else Asaba should start international operations. |
Please anyone old enough should remind us of all those Ghanaian bands in Onitsha and Aba. I know their sounds, but I don't know their names. Need to consult my cousin on that. |
Toaskarity: I left Onitsha just few years bro, I think the only foreigners there apart from easterners areDon't worry bros, Onitsha has a spirit that can never die. We don't have a good Governor in Peter Obi, else the only thing Onitsha needs is tarring of roads. That's all. Obi can't even do that. Shame on the dude. Anyway I think that SE marginalization is part of the problem. But we should be happy that we have Asaba too. So, no shaking. ![]() |

In fact Eastern Nigeria was like Ghanaian home! We LOVE these musics. ![]() |

I grew up in Onitsha and I saw many Yoruba musicians then. All that changed as Igboland came under more and more marginalization and life became too tough for foreigners and most of them left. I don't know how things are now there. It used to be a haven of sorts to Ghanaians,Conglese, Cameroonians, and Yoruba musicians. |
I guess I need to explain that this thread would debunk some of the lies about Eastern Nigeria being hostile to foreigners. Before the Ghana must go crisis in Lagos and environ, and SAP all over Nigeria, Onitsha and Aba were like Ghana because Ghanaians thrived there. They releashed COUNTLESS music albums most of which were in Ghanaian languages, but all of which were HITS. The funny aspect of the language in music is that Igbo listeners simply converted all the Ashanti, Fante and other Ghanaian sounds into the nearest Igbo words and sang away! The Ghanaians were AT HOME in Onitsha and Aba. I'm still trying to figure out how this new site works before posting more music from Youtube. |
BlackPikiN: Dem full Aba and they produced one of the best highlife tracks in the east.My brother it is true. Let us go to Youtube and post some of their hits. Even Orlando Owo used to live in Onitsha. Our towns used to be most hospitable to even foreign nationals from all over west Africa before SAP. |
Onitsha Anambra state Nigeria, was home to some of the best Ghananian musicians before the Ghana Must Go rampage in Lagos and environs. In this thread, I will list some of best Ghanaian musical groups who thrived and made hay in Onicha Ado city back in the day. Enjoy! shymmex: Please, my Igbo brothers - it's time to move on and embrace Nigeria. Breaking Nigeria into different entities is just an avenue to create a never ending war because we're too divided to achieve the tripod entities you guys daydream about. If Nigeria is to be divided, it will have to be divided into at least fifty countries to achieve the 'pure ethnic' identities you lot crave for - due to the following reasons:I wonder where you obtained the research data to suggest the bolded. In the absence of such data, I would say that you are just being another typical Yoruba man dividing up another man's house while expecting others to keep yours intact. If you doubt it, listen to yourself in the bolded words below: - Yorubas in Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Edo and Delta won't want to separated from their brothers in the Southwest. My friend there are no Yoruba in Delta state. ![]() I love Nigeria and Nigerians - and if I die right now - I would love to come back as a Nigerian. My friend you don't love Nigeria. You love YOURSELF. If Nigeria were a "zebu cattle", you are only interested in it because you want to enjoy the "tozo" part of the meat when it is eventually killed and shared. ![]() N/B: I'm yoruba and I'll like to marry a woman from one of the other tribes.I hope you never find an Igbo woman that will agree to marry you. That is what you people do these days - hate Igbo with all your might, but go and marry a "trophy" Igbo wife to ride in triumph every night. BTW that is why I will try my best to dissuade any Igbo woman from marrying any Yoruba man. Most of you lack the most basic sense of universal justice. Good luck with your poll. ![]() |
Hmm, na wa o! This mall ROCKS! ![]() |
Logic Mind: I did bros, I did. They all claim to be Igbo. Some say they are Igala but just a minority. When I deal with them I have no doubt they are Igbo. But, and this is a big but, they don't do things with the rest of us as per the examples I gave. Why?My brother, I also grew up in Onitsha and spent an overwhelming majority of my life so far in Onitsha. That town is like my second home. ![]() In fact I can call myself an Onitsha boy, 'cos I know that town like the back of my hand. The indigenes of Onitsha are perhaps the most accomodating Igbo in Igboland. Those people are simply awesome! They carry on with their customs, even in the midst of what others may call a stampede of their land. Enu Onicha has almost become sucked into the main market, odo akpu and ochanja markets, yet, on a day when they would do their traditional festivities, they still do it with grace and cheer. Nwanne, ndi Onicha di nma o. I won't say more than that. ![]() All the other things you raised, like the name calling, happen in all parts of Igboland. My Nnewi neigborly towns call us "agbaja", and we call them "ndi enu oha". So, if Onicha indigenes call others names, it is not new in Igboland. Eziokwu my brother, if there is anything we Ndigbo do badly, it is that we tend to emphasize our differences (like you are doing now) rather pessimistically, while Hausa for instance would call other northerners "Banza bokwai" but still hold them in the deepest "northern brotherhood". For Hausa, it all ends in the name. That is why they are able to rule Nigeria as a very powerful political block. For some of us, the names now form opinions about why we should not unite! You see my point? That is why I try my best, at every turn and in every circumstance, to educate our people about the REAL FACTS of unity. Let us not make mountains out of mole hills of our little differences, which other tribes have since surmounted, even though theirs were GULFS. |
ndu_chucks: There will be no disintegration, the whole world will be negatively affected by that - its not going to happen. We will judge the president on the bolded, and nothing less, beginning from the end of this year. The beautiful thing about current events in Nigeria is that there is really no way the SE would lose sustantially if we decide to go for our own interest alone. Methinks that the SE will remain the most strategic zone politically in Nigeria for the foreseable future mainly because we have demonstrated that we can deliver a BLOCK VOTE. There is one more reason which makes us especially hot politically now in Nigeria, and I won't tell you what that is. lol You just have to guess what it is. So, no shaking my friend. The Nigerian national (and hopefully disintegration) politics is getting very interesting. ![]() |
lagcity: ^^^^My email is ezendigbo_nl@hushmail.com I'm waiting. ![]() |
One_Naira: I did not address your other accusation because I'm not one of them, neither can I speak on what is going on within their community and their neighbors. I do not have the inside story so I cannot say in confidence. I felt a high need to correct you against one of your accusation that I’m confident enough to speak against (delta Igbo and Onitsha indigenous are pretty much in the same shoe. We both get accused of denying our Igbo heritage and hate Igbo people without anyone bothering to check if such claim is true or not). Such statement isn't true for those of us what’ve seen and lived with them for a while thus it is something I can confidently address, everything else, only an Onitsha person can speak on their behalf. My brother thank you for a round and complete analysis of the truth. I had thought that with more education and analytical thinking, our people would get past these narrow highly subjective conclusions about our reality. Let me tell you, my town Nnewi has been in the same land disputes with ALL our neigbors -Awka etiti, ukpor, utu, Oraifite, Nnobi and even Ichi and Ojoto. The story is usually the same when you have a big urbanising town enchroaching into surrounding towns. It is the same in ALL PART OF NIGERIA. We also discriminate inside when marriage issues are concerned, based on old tales of who did what to who. Even INSIDE Nnewi town, there are two villages that avoid inter marriage due to the same old tales. None of these ever changes the fact that we are all Igbo, living inside Igboland. I don't even want to go into some fallacious claims about Onitsha and MASSOB, and about Onithsa indigenes and business ownership in Onitsha. I simply marvel that anyone would even dare to make such intractable claims. Well, we are all entitled to our opinions. All the rest of us can ever do is to correct as much disinformation as possible. Onitsha (town and people) is at the heart beat of Igboland. ![]() |
lagcity: Ngodigha is a liar and a puccy. Send an e-mail and see for yourself.I've already done so and it bounced back. I'll try again. BTW I would only take on THREE Yoruba men, or TWO Yoruba women. Deal? |
ndu_chucks: I could hardly count 2 out of 19 of these officials who have Yoruba names. It appears that federal character is not reflected in the PDP and the marginalization of the SW within the ranks of the PDP continues. Zoning, Power Rotation and Power sharing is finally dead and buried. You meant assuming Nigeria does not disintegrate by then. lol BTW I could only count 3 Igbo in totally useless positions too. GEJ is the only thing I still have in PDP. Even he has only this year to retain my support, depending on his achievement per Igbo interest in Nigeria. |
lagcity: Yeah whatever, this is not time for trash-talking. Anything you want is fine. Just sign up at ohafiawardance@yahoo.com and tell other people to sign up, too. Let's make this happen. But Ngodigha says that the email address is fraudulent. You think I would ever miss an opportunity to lynch an Yoruba. ![]() |
Abagworo: Where? That's not Aggrey road and definitely not Ikwerre road which are the two most likely roads like that in Port Harcourt. I can bet with my last that place is Azikiwe road or Port Harcourt road in Aba.I suspect that the place may be Port Harcourt if all I hear about Aba roads is anything to go by. For me though, the most important thing is to see Asari behind a Biafran flag, whether in Aba or Port Harcourt. ![]() |
lagcity: Mr. Lagcity is sick of all these bickering between Yoruba and Igbo. Let's cut the crap and take this battle off NL into the physical realm. To all NL tribalists in the Washington, DC metro area who are interested in a fight club, contact me at ohafiawardance@yahoo.com. Let's make it happen. Please sign up at this e-mail:ohafiawardance@yahoo.comTo make the fight fair, I would take on THREE Yoruba men alone. ![]() If they present Yoruba women, then I would take TWO only. lol ![]() |
Uche2005: look at this seven people in this pictures. What do their father have in common with Ojukwu, and who was their father commanding officer. and who are this people. tell me who they are.. and whose army did their father fought for. the biafra or nigeria army.Their fathers all fought for Biafra. ![]() |
