CareerRe: Dangote Sacks Almost All The Graduate Drivers by onoja12: 12:07am On Jan 08, 2014
Information reaching my desk has confirmed that Dangote Group has quietly issued termination letters to almost all the graduate drivers that were recently employed amidst much publicity.

One of the affected graduate drivers who pleaded for anonymity, was actually crying when he narrated their ordeal. 'We went through a training program at NITT, Zaria for three months and were issued with employment letters by the Dangote Group in March 2013 at their head office in Lagos. We were all deployed to Dangote Cement Plant, Obajana ( Transport Division). At Obajana, the head of transport, ALHAJI LADAN, directed that we all be made to undergo an attachment with the more experienced drivers just to enable us gather much experience. We were all undergoing the attachment when, sometimes in May 2013, a directive came from the head office in Lagos, directing that all the graduate drivers that wish to leave driving should indicate interest to be converted to Fleet Officers (which is an office work).

We all wrote to be converted to Fleet Officers and that's when the drama started. Instead of doing the conversion process once as was the case when we got issued with employment letters in Lagos, the cabal at Obajana dragged it slowly to enable them to smuggle in many people who were never part of the original set that received training in Zaria and employment letters in Lagos. The conversion started in June 2013 and ended in November 2013, a period of six months for something that should not have taken more than one week for a fair minded and serious set of people.

At the end, only very few of the original graduate drivers were converted to Fleet Officers while the cabal in charge of the conversion exercise succeeded in getting their people into the positions meant for the graduate drivers. So, we were waiting for the exercise to continue when on December 02, 2013, the head of transport, ALHAJI LADAN, directed that our salaries be stopped. When we went to find out why our December salaries were stopped, they told us to come back today being January 06, 2014. So, you could imagine our surprises when, on reaching there today, they just came out and started issuing termination letters to us.'

When asked how many graduate drivers were converted to Fleet Officers, he replied that they were about six. He further revealed that the scheme was actually a ploy used by the company to take a loan from a foreign agency and to boost its image both at home and abroad, and that's why the company is doing away with the graduate drivers now that the deed has been done.

He further berated the set of people that heads the transport sector at Obajana, who are all Northern Hausa Muslims, for being overly incompetent and corrupt.

He is still confused as he seems confused on what to do next.

*****I'm not happy for making this front page for the first time ( January for that matter) with a bad news. He keeps asking me "What now?! I just can't figure it out!"
Pathetic indeed.*****
I find it very insulting how Nigerians worship coloured skin and yet have no respect for there own, that's why the Lebanese, Chinese even hungry Indians treat them like trash, insult and beat them up daily and they take it happily, my friend I put it to you now that for the fact Dangote tried to help your sorry ass by given you a job and free training the only rubbish you can do is to come here to spoil his good name, who told you that dangote needs to polish his image to get a loan, if you have a problem with his staffs find the right way to channel it but as for trying to slander Dangotes good name for doing a good deed for you, then you must be wicked and you deserve nothing good, my advice immediately tender an apology and retract that statement with speed

mink505: gbam!!
we need to stop conflating culture with law. law should be there to PROTECT. In fact, the reason why gays have rights in western countries is because the law promotes human rights for ALL. whether you are gay or straight, child or adult, or tall or short or deaf or dumb or blind, muslim or christian. the law will protect you in America (at least 95% better than a country like Nigeria) as long as you do not harm or steal from others.
that is the big difference between Nigeria and western countries.

Nigeria has no human rights. child marriage, homophobia, corruption, r.ape, police brutality, violence, religious animosity is endemic. Nigeria is a failed country. Most Nigerians are ignorant masses easily herded like goats.

typical Nigerian mentality. Yet you fools will jump at a chance to leave Nigeria and go abroad to USA or UK. hahaha
hypocrites.

well if you don't want him angry then don't offend him,if his your husband and you don't know the do and don't then you already in trouble
shoerack6: Hello house,

Whenever I have disagreement with hubby, he'll decide not to talk to me. He won't eat my food and also will not sleep on the same bed with me. I'll have to beg and beg before he finally decides to talk to me.
I'm so sick and tired of his attitude. I tried discussing with him that we should look for a better way to resolve issues but he said he doesn't want to discuss anything with me.
We are presently not talking and have promised myself that this year, no more begging and begging. Have apologised to him like thrice since yesterday, i've sent him messages apologising even though I know that i've done nothing wrong.
Now i'm always in my room because even when I go to where he is, he'll stand up and leave d place.
This is killing me inside. Don't know what to do.
Pls mature advice only.
Mod pls I don't want this thread on front page.

SportsRe: Mikel Winning AFOTY Award Will Be An Insult To African Football by onoja12: 2:54am On Jan 03, 2014
total and practical rubbish, first of all i am seriously contesting your claim that you are a Nigerian. and if indeed you are then i think you should know that Nigeria comes first before any British club you have gone to sell your loyalty to,and lastly for the mere fact you can even suggest that any Nigerian player doesn't deserve it then my brother you need to see a doctor quickly before the madness moves to the permanent site.
heykims: It is January and very soon , the African footballer of the year 2013 will be named in Lagos Nigeria precisely on the 9th of January. The player to be crowned with this feat should however be very much evaluated and deemed fit to earn this prestigious honour because his personality on the field of play either in the national team or club will go a long way in speaking for African football.

CAF released the final 10-man shortlist of the contenders of this prestigious award last year and interestingly, four Nigerian players made the list. Many Nigerians and even Africans have however tipped John Obi Mikel as the possible winner evident from the fact that he won the Nations cup last year, Europa cup in Europe, participated in d Confederations cup and so on.

MY VIEW
As a Nigerian and a proud African, I see it as not just underscoring but extremely insulting to African football if a player like Mikel wins the award. How can a mere bench warmer in Europe be crowned the African footballer of the year just by virtue of the fact that his national team wins a title or his club wins the European league?

A deserving footballer of the hear should be such that is very resourceful both at home and in clubs. A reigning footballer of the year should at least even make the top three best player in his club even if he doesn't get a spot in the FIFA ranking.

Mikel Obi surely can't make the best ten in Chelsea's team despite being a senior player. I'm of the view that its better not to name anyone the footballer of the year than titling a bench warmer in Europe, what a mock, an insult I can't tolerate as an African.

Nigerians should be please stop being sentimental, selfish and self centred and canvass for a better representative for African football.

Left to me, if at all a Nigerian merits the award, it is Vincent Enyeama, the Nigeria's assistant skipper at goal but Cote d'Ivoire's Yaya Toure surely represents Africa better.

What's your view?
PoliticsSouth Africa An Ungrateful Nation by onoja12(op): 2:14pm On Jan 02, 2014
WHERE WERE THEY? It is on record that Nigeria suffered for the ANC Movement. Our soldiers fought against the apartheid south-African government. Major Ifeajuna taught the ANC how to build explosives. At a point in time Mandela sought refuge in Enugu. He was there for six months, under the watchful eyes of the former Minister of Aviation in the first republic, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi . The Nigerian government t spent over 50 Million dollars supporting the ANC Government. We provided free education to south African students. Nationalized British companies in Nigeria, as a way of punishing Britain for their support forth Apartheid regime. We memorized songs like "Baya buye baya buye, baya buye africa and oh oh oh oh free mandela, mama Africa", as a way of showing support for the black south Africans. The commitment of Nigerians to put an end to apartheid in South Africa was so intense that the country was considered a leader of the Frontline States established to achieve democratic majority rule in South Africa.Nigeria played a vital role in the establishment of the United Nations Special Committee Against Apartheid (UNSCAA). This was partly responsible for Nigeria occupying the chair of the committee more than any other country until it was scrapped.
Nigeria also established the Southern African Relief Fund (SARF), which was funded with deductions from the salary of every Nigerian worker, irrespective of rank, both in the public and private sectors as well as donations from ordinary Nigerians, including students. Just as Nigeria committed itself to the apartheid struggle, so did other Africans countries like Ghana, ivory coast and Libya led by the "never forgotten" Brother Leader, Sir- Field Marshal- Ikemba worldwide-Otunba of revolutionaries-Mommar Ibn Gaddafi. I had to bring this up this morning because am still struggling to uderstsnd what has happened to this history and struggles. Mandela's death has turned into a celebration of the aftermath. It seems those who came into his life in the later years are more reverred than those who made legitimate sacrifices for his release. Please what role did Obama play in the ANC struggles. The highlight of the memorial, was Obama's speech and a selfie with the Prime minister of Denmark. That singular act by Obama, showed his true intentions. Obama even had the guts to critize Papa Bob of Zimbabwe. Then came the continuous eulogies on former president Clinton, on how he had developed a bond with Mandela. Since his death Oprah Winfrey has been on air selling herself as one of the Madiba daughters. Same as the super model of "moral bankruptcy", Naomi Cambell. To me it seems black Africa has been cheated out of its struggles. Madiba's memorial should have been a celebration of the black revolutionary spirit. The speakers at the memorial should have come from countries who stood when the chips were down. That's why when Raul Castro was speaking, you could see the revolutionary fervor in his tone. He clearly understood the meaning of Mandela's life and death. Madiba was the only black revolutionary who survived to benefit from the labor of his struggles. He was the bridge between the personalities of the likes of Julius nyerere, Patrice lumumba, Sir Mommar Gaddafi, Jerry Rawlings, Tom Mboya, Hailie Gebriesalaise (Ras Tafari), Kwame Nkrumah, Murtala Mohammed, Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Hugo chavismo, Chris hani and others not mentioned. Their voices, spirits and struggles kept the ANC Alive. That's why I keep asking questions. Where was Richard Branson when blacks were being slaughtered in Soweto? Where was Bono of U-2 when Winnie Mandela was abused and battered by the racist militia, where was America when its foremost ally, Britain, called Mandela a terrorist! WHERE WERE THEY?

I have read the reply of Goodluck Jonathan to Babas letter, well let me be the first to say he hasn't replied anything and i think he should wake up from the idea that Nigerians are stupid.let make its clear you only loved in bayelsa, the remaining 35 states want you out,you only loved by the ijaws all other tribes want you out,and you know the reason, just in-case you don't know, you failed to be a leader of Nigeria rather you are an ijaw leader in Abuja and worse of all you have your boys running there mouth anyhow, and for the record go and tell dokubo he doesn't know what violence is,he just a noise maker when the time comes he would quickly learn the truth.as for looting the country,i have personally over heard a minister cancel a northerns contract because a senior special adviser said there was some one from the south on the list,in her words are we to be arming our enemies, that was the day i began to understand goodlucks governement

well,am sure you went though and stopped at ughelli or patani, and am not sure of that patani, the only part of that road that has been dualized is the ughelli end,all other is one side even up to port Harcourt,so i don't know what you saying, even imbiama is just getting started but i wouldn't exchange words with you cause i was equally in Abuja when this p.r campaign was cooked up
meselo2002: I don't think you have passed that road recently. I passed through the road last weekend and what the guy wrote is the true situation of that road. The only part I doubt they will finish before December 2014 is the Patani bridge. Every other part will be concluded if the pace now is sustained.
