European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Costa Vs Aguero: The Strikers Spearheading Chelsea & Man. City's Title Hopes by onome710(m): 4:00pm On Sep 19, 2014
Two of world football's finest strikers go head-to-head at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday as Manuel Pellegrini's champions welcome Jose Mourinho's chief contenders

English football loses its superstars. Or so it seems, anyway, amid the talent drain to Spain. Yet on Sunday, two goal machines meet, beginning a duel for Premier League glory, the Golden Boot and perhaps even the unofficial title of the world's best centre forward.

Luis Suarez, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robert Lewandowski and the Manchester United pair of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao are contenders but two of the prime candidates are Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero. The Chelsea target man has made statistically the best start to a Premier League career, with seven goals in four games. The Manchester City poacher has the lowest minutes-per-goal ratio of anyone in the division's history who has struck 30 times or more: he goes just 114 minutes between strikes on average.

The predators leading the line at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday are strikers with similarities and not just because both endured a World Cup to forget and were used as substitutes in the Champions League on Wednesday.

While other elite players quit England for Spain, this pair made the opposite journey. Indeed, they proved prolific for the same club, Atletico Madrid. The Estadio Vicente Calderon is a place where goalscorers flourished - Falcao, Diego Forlan and Fernando Torres all enhanced their reputations as Atleti players – and it is also ideal scouting ground for English clubs.

The rivalry in the Spanish capital makes it very hard for Real Madrid to sign directly from their neighbours so, if Barcelona do not buy their prize assets, the opportunity is there for the Premier League clubs. Chelsea seized it this summer, just as City did three years earlier.

Even if Atletico's British brand of football, their willingness to play 4-4-2 and go direct, their hustling, bustling style and hugely energetic, ultra-committed approach offered signs that Costa would succeed in England, his first four fixtures have still been remarkable.

He has been an injury doubt for the last two league matches. In that time, he scored twice against Everton and a hat-trick against a Swansea City defence previously only breached once. The doubters wondered if he would be a one-season wonder, if his magnificent 36-goal campaign for Atletico would be an outlier and he would never prove as potent again. They are being answered. Chelsea are being transformed.

Eden Hazard was the Blues' leading scorer in the league last season with 14 goals. With only a 10th of the season gone, Costa is already half way to equalling that tally. Sunday represents his toughest test to date, against the outstanding defender in England, Vincent Kompany, but it is hard to imagine a man who scored a winner in a Madrid derby at the Santiago Bernabeu last season being cowed.

He has made an immediate impact. The quicksilver Aguero made one, too, the last time that a title rival visited the Etihad Stadium. He scored 23 seconds after coming on against Liverpool. A clinical finish against Arsenal on Saturday brought contrasts with a less reliable finisher, Danny Welbeck, who had spurned a chance at the other end.

And a recurring theme of Aguero's City career is that he is often at his best in such fixtures. He is a derby specialist, with five goals against Manchester United already. He has struck three times each against Arsenal and Liverpool. Chelsea, who have only conceded twice to him, have escaped comparatively unscathed. That could change.

Yet he is somehow underappreciated. Perhaps it is because of the injuries that have interrupted his last two seasons and prevented him from topping the scoring charts. When he embarked on a run of 25 goals in 23 games between September 2013 and January 2014, he threatened to overshadow Luis Suarez. Manuel Pellegrini was describing Aguero as the world's third-best player, behind only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. If that seemed hyperbolic to outsiders, the Argentine guaranteed immortality in the blue half of Manchester with the final touch of his debut season, the ice-cool, injury-time, title-winning strike against QPR. He was the ideal man to take the opportunity.

The chances are that Chelsea would back Costa to score in a similar situation. He is not as quicksilver as Aguero but brings an added physical dimension. In some ways, they are reflections of their managers, the snarling Costa sharing Mourinho's fondness for goading opponents and the more smiling Aguero possessing Pellegrini's less abrasive approach.

But now they are pitted in direct competition. Because while Aguero is the forward who, per minute on the pitch, is more potent than Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer, Robbie Fowler and Ruud van Nistelrooy, Van Persie, Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Michael Owen, Costa is his newest challenger. Thus far, he averages a goal every 47 minutes. When he scores enough to qualify for a place among the Premier League's striking greats, he might be a new entry at No.1.

First Love?
My 1st love has to be my one true love and that will be the lady I get to walk down the aisle with as 'husband and wife'
Like the lyrics of a song I love says 'it aint love if we don't last for life'
Therefore every 'relationship' I had in d past that didn't work, I consider them as based on 'infatuation' or even 'lust'. If it is strong enough never to give way and lead to 'cementing' in marriage, then it is love. Love doesn't die, it doesn't give up.
So, for now... No 1st love. All I got is my 1st crush. We are just friends now.
By the way, I'm very single right now! Lol

Romance / 4 Ways To Get Out Of The Friend Zone With Women by onome710(m): 12:10pm On Sep 11, 2014
Is the friend zone standing between you and your happy ending? Well it doesn’t have to be. Try these tips to make sure you don’t become a matyr of the friendzone.

1. Break out from the nice guy stereotype

This is probably the most common reason why men fail at sealing the deal. While being a good guy isn’t a total bad thing, it usually means that you might be helping others without putting your needs first and may be compromising to make others happy. In this case, you might consider your feelings and relationship needs to be lower than the girl’s problems or issues, and hence stay quiet on the matter. So you should communicate your feelings to the girl. This will also show her that you have the confidence and self-esteem to carry and mantain this relationship. This brings us to our next step…

2. Less is actually more

While you might want to rush over to their place to confess your feelings right now, don’t–unless you’re looking forward to an embarrassing rejection. Instead of being forceful and scarying the girl on, you should be patient and work on building your relationship with her. Basically you need to start doing and saying things that indirectly put you into her mind. The more forceful or emergent you are, the needier you’ll seem and that is sure to scare her off.

3. Get that first date

She’s seen what a great friend you are, but now it’s time to show her what a great boyfriend you can be. Take her out, just the two of you and give her the boyfriend treatment, i.e. pick her up, take her out some where classy, pay for the meal and drop her off. However, don’t think of her as your girlfriend and expect her to act like that. Take things slow and show her what’s she is missing out on.

4. Maybe she’s just not that into you

If after all the techniques you’ve tried, you’re still stuck in the friend zone then it is highly possible that she just isn’t romantically interested in you. There is no use in pursuing a girl that isn’t into you. Perhaps you’re friend zoning a girl that does like you. If being friends is too difficult, you might want to take your relationship down to acquaintance level for a little time in order to help you move on or show her how much she relied on you. However remember that your happiness should be your priority and if the girl does not value you then you should not waste time on her and find someone that feels the same way about you.

Romance / How To Attract Women? by onome710(m): 11:57am On Sep 11, 2014

Every women is looking for “The One” that they can spend their entire lives with. While different girls have different preferences when it comes to men, there are a few common personality traits and characters all women look for in a man. Understanding the traits, why women value them and in turn embodying them will really help you understand how to attract women and become popular among them.

Learn how to attract women:

1. Personality traits:

When it comes to relationships, personality is a big factor since many of the relationship’s problems can stem from it. Women do understand that nobody is perfect, but they do value the following three personality traits in men very highly:

 A sense of humor

One of the first things you should know about how to attract women is that women love a guy with a good sense of humor. After all, who doesn’t love someone that can make them laugh? Having a good sense of humor gives you a huge edge. This doesn’t mean that you need to be a comedian all the time. You just need make a few jokes sometimes and also understand her sense of humor. Women like these kind of men because they seem to be confident, fun and consist of the ability to help her de-stress.

Passion

Passion for something other than yourself and your ‘to-be’ relationship shows a women that you are capable of caring for something beyond yourself, even if it’s just your guitar or music career. Having a passion and pursuing it indicates that you have a clear idea of your goals and how to achieve them. Men like that are usually have this contagious enthusiasm that women like to be around.

Confidence

Confidence earns you major plus points with women. It indicates that you are self-confident in your abilities to provide for yourself and her, and it gives her confidence in you as well. If you need to learn how to boost your confidence around women, check out our previous blog post.

2. Characteristics:

The characteristics you posses also have a huge impact on your attractiveness to women. There are many different characteristics women might like in their ideal man, but the following three are a must-have in every man:

Faithfulness

No matter what techniques you use on how to attract women, if you aren’t faithful women will not even want to consider you. Loyalty means a big thing to them, but this doesn’t just mean that you shouldn’t cheat on them, but be faithful when she tells you something private by not spreading it or standing up for her if she ever needs you to. To her, loyal men are more likely to stay by their side and act as a source of comfort.

Responsible

Being responsible in regards to what you say or do is really crucial. Making plans and cancelling on them or making promises only to break them, makes them the opposite of responsible. But why do you need to be responsible? Basically it displays that you aren’t just filled with words, but you can “walk the walk” as well. Also you don’t make commitments lightheartedly and you’ll definitely try your best to honor your responsibilities.

A firm set of beliefs

If you’re the kind of man that changes his values according to each situation, women are likely to be turned-off. Basically the absence of this traits shows that you can’t really be trusted. Out of all the ways on how to attract women, this is perhaps one of the most crucial characteristic. So remember always stick by your set of values and beliefs to show women that you are responsible and reliable.

Religion / Re: What Do Christians Mean By "Its Your Heart That Matters" by onome710(m): 6:14am On Sep 07, 2014
It is pure self deception.
The bible says "out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh'
That also applies to actions. So if ur actions are 'bad', ur heart is 'bad'
So, yes! It is the heart that matters! The actions just shows what is in the heart. You can't separate them.

There is no 'the top 10'.
We have not agreed on parameters with which we will use in rating them.
So, any 'top1' will be based on personal bias and also a lil bit of tribalism.

I have not stayed in most of the towns and I just know them based on the points in my previous post. So, if u wanna know 'my top 10'
Here it is;
1. Warri
2 - 10. Others.

Well, I won't be dragged into the argument of the top ten or why the Op said top ten and listed 16. Or why some places listed are 'towns' and not cities.

7. Eket - home to our 'chinese' speaking broda's and sista's. Also popular cos of its reputation of producing more 'househelps' than any other city...

8. Chibok - 'bring back our girls' comes to mind. Popular for the wrong reason. No thanks to boko boiz...

CORRESPONDENT COLUMN: The Premier League returns this weekend and it promises to be another thrilling campaign as five clubs plot title challenges

Aug 15, 2014 09:40:00

By Greg Stobart

Jose Mourinho claimed last season that Chelsea had the role of the 'little horse' in the title race, but on the eve of the new campaign he has a squad that can blow away their competition for the Premier League trophy.

After the drama of last season, this is shaping up to be another thrilling campaign and five teams will kick-off this weekend all with the target of lifting the trophy next May.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United are all capable of winning the title but it is the west London club who have left their rivals behind with their summer transfer business.

Mourinho has built a squad that looks formidable. Chelsea can now boast the best starting XI and the strongest group of players in the country following a superb summer of transfer business.

The departures of Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and David Luiz have already been forgotten thanks to the €94 million outlay on Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Filipe Luis, with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also returning to Stamford Bridge to play as their No. 1.

Mourinho spent most of last season playing down the Blues' title prospects and complaining about his strikers. Now he has a squad that could dominate English football and compete for the Champions League crown, too.

It is a better group of players than the Chelsea side that won the title twice under Mourinho in his first spell in charge. It is a more exciting team than Inter's treble winners of 2010 and more complete than the Real Madrid side that won the title in 2012.

This is the best team Mourinho has ever had at his disposal, with world class options in every position.

Even in pre-season, it looks like Costa and Fabregas have added the X-Factor, with the former scoring four goals in the warm-up games and his Spain team-mate ready to pull the strings from an advanced midfield role.

Mourinho is certainly ready for the challenge ahead of Monday night's opener away at newly-promoted Burnley.

"We have the squad that we want to have," Mourinho said this week. "It is a squad for tomorrow, for next season and also a squad with big possibilities for the next five or 10 years with so many young people. So, I like my squad very much."

I like it too and I make Chelsea overwhelming favourites to win a fifth top-flight title in the club's history.

They will face stern competition, of course.

Holders Manchester City have also improved over the close season but their preparations have been particularly disrupted by the World Cup, while there is a sense that the Champions League will be the primary focus for Manuel Pellegrini this term.

The arrival of Alexis Sanchez has made Arsenal genuine contenders for the first time since the famous Invincibles team of 2004. Arsene Wenger now has an embarrassment of riches in attack and supporters are in optimistic mood following their FA Cup win in May.

The Gunners will need, however, to sign two players - a centre-back and more importantly a defensive midfielder - to sustain a title charge over the course of the season and to take points off their rivals who beat them far too easily last season.

Louis van Gaal has excited Manchester United supporters this summer by guiding the Netherlands to third at the World Cup before overseeing an unbeaten pre-season campaign in his new job.

After the disastrous reign of David Moyes, United have their fear factor back and an ambitious, tactically astute manager with no distraction of European football.

At the moment, though, a top-four finish is the most realistic target as United finally look to prove that there is life after Sir Alex Ferguson. The squad about which Moyes constantly complained remains unbalanced and incomplete.

United have signed Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw for around €75m but executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward must spend the remaining €112m in the club's transfer budget to recruit central defenders and a top class midfielder.

It is ridiculous that, after allowing Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand to leave, United have not strengthened at centre-back and are set to start the campaign with a back three of Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.

At the other end of the East Lancs Road, Liverpool have accumulated a number of players to beef up their squad following last season's second-placed finish.

But the £87m sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona and the added complication of Champions League football is likely to take its toll.

The Reds can still boast awesome attacking talent in the likes of Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho, but they could struggle to secure a Champions League place if they don't hit the ground running.

Elsewhere, Everton and Tottenham will again nestle in behind the leading pack, eyeing a Europa League place and possibly a domestic cup triumph.

For all the strength at the top of the tree, the main priority for every team outside last season's top seven will be to avoid relegation.

I expect Burnley and Leicester to struggle on their return to the Premier League and they will be joined in a relegation battle by the likes of West Brom, Crystal Palace and Southampton.

It will be the usual story as managers lose their jobs throughout the campaign as clubs desperately looking to preserve their Premier League status. The short-termism can be disappointing, but it adds to the drama of the season.

After the World Cup, it barely feels that there has been a break from football this summer.

But we still miss it, and there is an awful lot to look forward to in English football this season. It is going to be a cracker.
