PoliticsRe: Naval Officers Beat Up A Lady And Stripped Her - Watch Video by onyengbu1(m): 8:39pm On Nov 11, 2008
Assuming no one has seen this news below, it will put an interesting turn to this Okere news.

http://www.kwenu.com/publications/oraetoka/wabara_security.htm

It showed that the Lady's Dad who is a military man himself has done something like the one that was done to his daughter before.

I can't authenticate the news and I'm not supporting what they did to her.
PoliticsRe: Even Raila Odinga Of Kenya Noticed The Arrogant Injustice Against Igbos. by onyengbu1(m): 9:20pm On Oct 21, 2008
It is very funny when yoruba and hausa people on this forum claim that state owned infrastructure in the east is decaying more than in their places. Igbo people who havent gone to the remote hausa/yoruba towns might be tempted to agree with those unfounded claims.

the reason why it is funny is that most of you guys know very little about igbo towns.

Yea, state owned infrastructures are decaying everywhere in the country but I can tell you its not worst in Igbo land.
In anambra where i come from, Ngige constructed more roads in three years than what Tinubu constructed in eight years. Nnamani did his own bit too. igbo people will complain because igbo civillization is way too advanced than any other in the country and we expect very much from our governors.

In one northern state where I was for a year, the past governor converted about five state owned infrastructures to his own private property. Nobody in the state seemed to have even noticed not to even complain. That will not happen in the east and if any governor comes close to trying anything like that people will resist it and thats exactly when it comes out in the news that our governors are corrupt.

Igbo governors are better than others, Igbos only know how to make them do what they are supposed to do.

In hausa/yoruba case, people just follow their leaders blindly. And everything will seem to be okay there.

And somebody here said that Ironsi is the first Coup Plotter? huh

I don't blame him, maybe he knew only about how they murdered and believed he deserved it.

It is quite as simple as that. But, much as I agree with Odinga, I dont share his ideology it claimed many lives last year in Kenya.

You did not include the Achebe part of that news. It is very funny the way he described Nigeria as a wayward child rather than being a father and mother that it is referred to as in the National anthem.

Trust me, i just got off the phone with an Ibo chief now and he told me Ibo is the people, Igbo is the language.
So i think i am correct to say IBO. cheesy
If actually you spoke to any 'chief', that chief must have been those ones that grew up in the town and have read a lot of incorrect things and one day decided to make himself a chief.

Apart from that I dont see any other reason why he should tell you that.

the question is, why will the federal government drag its feet over a project like Niger bridge?

Thats why I said you people dont get it? We are talking about Niger bridge here! Stop comparing it with Third mainland bridge.

Quit talking about maintenance because that bridge has been closed for maintenance and maintenance carried out severally. You wont know that one too, will you?

We are talking of reconstruction or a whole new one. Many things that existed today was not in place when that bridge was built.

The same thing is happening with Onitsha - Owerri road.
PoliticsRe: Please Nairalanders, We Are Igbos Not Ibos. by onyengbu1(op): 8:15am On Oct 10, 2008
But again, something just occured to me right now.
Im not sure 'gb' comes out in Yoruba the way it does in igbo tongue.

think of pronounciation of the popular place 'ojuelegba in Lagos. If an igbo person should write ojuelegba as it is pronounced in Lagos, it should be written ojuelegwa.

I think that the way Yoruba people write and pronounce 'gb' is different from the way igbos do.

So again let me add to my post that people should not call us igwo.
PoliticsRe: Please Nairalanders, We Are Igbos Not Ibos. by onyengbu1(op): 8:05am On Oct 10, 2008

It doesnt matter really if i know that the writer is doing that ignorantly, but when I know that the person knew the right thing and is not doing it, thats when its offensive.

Thats the point of this post.

all of you are claiming not to be tribalist and unmindful of inconsequential issues like misspelling the name of a major ethnic group. It wont matter to you guys now because you are not on the receiving side of it.

Most Nigerians are tribalist deep inside even though we have mixed so much.

PoliticsRe: Please Nairalanders, We Are Igbos Not Ibos. by onyengbu1(op): 3:22pm On Oct 09, 2008
@grafikdon,

they might pronounce a-i-r-a-k but they wont write it that way. They will write iraq.

When someone goes to the extent of writing those things wrongly, its usually intentional.

Kobojunkie:
I am not sure what is eating you up here that you can not see what is being said as is. This has nothing to do with governors being IBO or INDONESIAN. This has to do with the fact that governors are not carrying their weight in that country. Please take off your BLINDERS (TRIBALISM) and try to approach this like a mature, intelligent adult would.
You cited Lagos state. Not Just you, your brothers always have the same reason.

Kobojunkie:
The very fact that the Niger bridge, is COLLAPSING, is all the proof you need to understand that the government has not done it’s part in this. That bridge is not old and for a bridge to collapse, like the one that collapsed last year in Minnesota means that government has not been doing its job. KAPISH!!
Again, you mentioned Lagos state,

Kobojunkie:
If you say that is not true, then the whole world owes Minnesota officials a HUGE apology.
Did anyone mention their NEVER undertaken and completed any federal project before? Did Anyone on  here mention Lagos as the ONLY place where it has happened? I know in Nigeria and with Nigerians there is this inane need to complicate simple issues so we can claim it is COMPLEX and sleep better with arms folded.
You people can't get it.
The federal government spearheaded by your brothers are intentionally letting the bridge die. It wouldnt be so if its in your area.

Kobojunkie:
The simple truth is if the bridge had been properly maintained, as it ought to, we would not be speaking of collapse the way this seems to be, today. Stop being so blinded by your tribalistic ideologies and open your eyes to your reality. Your governors are selling you the same old excuses many  past governors have and continue to in other areas. Stand up and demand change.
That has nothing to do with our governors. Maybe if its in the US the state government might be responsible.

Why will the question of governors not doing their bit only emerges when the problem is in igboland.

If it is in the north or west it wouldnt be like that.

You don't get it at all, do you?
PoliticsPlease Nairalanders, We Are Igbos Not Ibos. by onyengbu1(op): 2:37pm On Oct 09, 2008
I use to read through posts on nairaland without looking back at these misrepresentation or should I say misspelling of  Igbo.

It didnt mean much to me until I realize that most people on this nairaland are very offended when their own ethnic name is misspelled.

Theres a post on this forum where someone rained insults on someone because he wrote Yoruba instead of Yoruba. I also notice that the hausas don't feel well when they are referred to as AWUSA.

These things might not mean much to many forum users but please lets try as much as possible to write or even pronounce  these things well.

Kobojunkie:
What the frell has "IGBOLAND" to do with governors doing their job? Are IGBOLAND governors exempt in some way?? If the Lagos state government could do it, what stops IGBOLAND governors from doing the same??
Has it been proved that Igbo governors dont do their jobs as much as the yoruba/hausa ones do.

If so tell me who did the proving.

Who told you that governors from the east have not undertaken and completed any federal project before. Lagos is not the only place it has happened. The question here is the nature of this particular one.

It couldnt have been so if it is in the north.

That bridge needs reconstruction
PoliticsRe: Niger Bridge May Collapse Before Christmas. by onyengbu1(m): 3:19pm On Oct 08, 2008
Kobojunkie:
Are you implying that your government doing maintenance work on the bridge, knowing that bridge is vital to it’s economic growth and development and used mainly by it’s people, is out of the question?
are you also implying that igboland is the only place where governors should undertake federal projects?

doyin13:
Just one simple question to the Igbo posters here,
this Niger Bridge, is it used exclusively by Igbos?
May I ask how many times that you yourself or any body you know have used the said bridge?

Just like any other road in the country, every other tribe uses it but at what frequency?
If that 'one simple question' is coming from an Igbo man if a yoruba man complained that 3rd mainland bridge is collapsing, everyone will understand.

Again,
When will these people stop asking our governors to do what their governors dont do for them. We are not saying that our governors are doing magic but we know that their governors are not better.
One fool eve suggested that that our governors should take cue from Cross rivers and Akwa Ibom. With what allocation?

People stop hating for once.

@Toxnaija
you are leaving anyone who goes through your write ups with only one conclusion -- PRIDE.

I did not and will not regret the way I addressed you after your attack on a respected member of this thread.

You said you are blunt and I wish to tell you now that I would have put it in a more blunt way if not for Oga biggjoe (the starter of this thread) who I recently discovered is the owner of the cybercafe I use.

Attracting unnecessary pity and attention to yourself will not count for anything because this is just a cyberspace.

You are yet to say anything to enitan2002.

This is not a direct attack and I do not intend to start any new quarrels on this forum again. I wish that no other forum member will respond to this post to avoid any more digressions.

Naturally, it is unfair to one region not to finish its term and for such term to be taken over by another region.

This is one of the problem that comes with 'rotational system' official or unofficial:

it is the region and not the quality-of-the-person that matters in mind of the people.

Not sure what will happen in Oct 23 but I am sure we are on the wrong political system.
Now somebody is talking about unfairness!!! shocked The same region that has been ruling Nigeria for like ever?!

Is it unfair to you that a region has not ruled at all?

. . . and now that an Igbo man (Paul Dike) is the Chief Defence Staff will views change?

It is a criminal and wicked neglect by the FG to have allowed the Niger bridge to detoriate the status it is currently is.
so you can only point out the Paul Dike issue out of the few questions i just raised? Why not make an Igbo man in the Army the CDS? Why was Onovo dropped shamelessly as the choice of Inspector General of Police?
There are still many of such questions.

But you have governors who should provide basic amenities. If not all, but some. By blaming the federal government for everything, you will justify your govs for their misdeeds or unfair spending of state funds.

is it your own governors that provided you with amenities like Niger bridge, international airports, seaports and highways?

I pointed that out on my first post because you people don't have better answers to all the injustices besides that.
PoliticsRe: Niger Bridge May Collapse Before Christmas. by onyengbu1(m): 1:03pm On Sep 26, 2008
Why will they not laugh? It doesnt concern them.

I no longer wonder why all the other tribes in the country hates the Igbos because I have since come to understand that it is FEAR.

They fear that the igbo man is too clever and  intelligent. Thats why they dont allow any igbo man to get too close to any good thing in the country.

Somebody has just asked whether it is not state government that maintains a Federal structure like Niger bridge on a Federal highway huh

Another hypocrite hausa/yourba will soon second him that, yes, its the fault of your own leaders!
Thats about all they can defend themselves with.

Things are bad all over the country, yes we know that but we have all been to the North and we all know how roads are constructed in high standard and all.

Some questions that I will expect any hausa/yoruba to answer includes:

1. Why will the Fed. govt. award the maintenance of Niger bridge to setraco? Would it have been setraco (and not Julius Berger) if the bridge is the West or north?

2. Why has the government  abandoned shagamu - ore - benin expressway and leaving travellers on that road who are mainly igbos to the mercy of robbers and accidents?

3. why is there no seapor or international airport in the igboland?

4.why hasnt any igbo man been made the defence minister or inspector General of Police or other sensitive national position.

there are many of them,
and they have one simple answer--- they are afraid of what the igbos might become.

Why must Toxnaija be the only person here (apart from me grin) that will be attacking members directly.
Its quite unfortunate that a respected Guru like Enitan2002 will be your victim.  Even if he has made any mistake, is there no private way of telling him that? Its sad too because you always demand for apologies, why? If anybody is to apologize  its not Enitan2002.

Enitan doesn't deserve any attack from anyone on this forum because he has sacrificed a lot.
