iHart: There is this Indian PhD and MSC group I joined sometime ago, when i read comments there, its just obvious that higher degree is overrated. There are plenty of PhD holders in that group still looking for job. Many attended the best of schools, had the best scholarship, at the end it turns to wasted years and no job. If you are not a lecturer, forget it. If you manage to get MSc, just stop there. My in-law who stays in US told me he will rather do MBA than do MSc and PhD, I am beginning to see reasons with him. What are the reasons? Why an MBA |

Eh! Awesome bro, awesome insight emkz: Say the truth. You could not break even because your business model did not conform with the Nigerian market.
Nigerians are very enterprising with a ready market. If you are a serious business with a sound business model, you'd be a billionaire in Nigeria. Dangote needs 20 million Nigerians to spend 100 naira weekly on any of his products to make 2 billion naira. So what are you selling? Who are you selling to?
You claim to be a global technology company yet you could not automate fraud detection and prevention to the extent that you have to close down? Please change your company name to Static Stupidity because there is nothing dynamic about your intelligence. |

Tadell: Hi all. I want to apply for a first degree in Australia. I'm 27 and has an OND in public administration. I had been managing a private business thus I didn't go for the degree early.
My questions: * Will I apply with my O'level or the OND?
*if I apply with the OND, how many years will I spend in school for the degree?
*Will my age be a barrier to this dream of getting a degree in Australia?
I will be glad to receive your replies. Thanks all. Yes, you will have to apply with your O'level. Also indicate you have an OND. You could get course exemptions/advance standings with your OND provided there are similarities in the OND units and the undergraduate course of your choice. No Age barrier you are fine |

If it's not true meant I made it up? Kindly go to the Australian travel section and inquire. Those with non science based qualifications definitely would have met with requirement for a Nursing degree before being enrolled, probably complete prerequisites courses as you said before being admitted. My point in the earlier post was any one could still study nursing as a degree level, definitely depends on meeting the requirement. Countries requirements could differ, here in Australia, a bachelors degree holder in statistics studied master's in nursing practice, working as an RN for two years now. Go to the aussie thread and confirm. TheArchangel: This is not entirely true. You may have a first degree in anything as it is also applicable to medicine but you have to meet up with the prerequisite at a community college before you can be admitted. This is an excerpts from New York university website
"students with a baccalaureate degree in another field who have completed prerequisites.
The B.S. Program in Nursing for students with a baccalaureate degree in another field offers options for students who want to make a career change to nursing. Students enter the program with advanced standing of 44 liberal arts credits based on having a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university or college. Students must then complete or satisfy the requirements for the prerequisite courses in nutrition, chemistry, statistics, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and developmental psychology and complete the 64 credits of nursing courses.
Students with a baccalaureate degree in another field who have successfully completed the prerequisite courses in nutrition, chemistry, statistics, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and developmental psychology and maintain a 2.0 grade point average in the 64 credits of nursing courses can complete the B.S. program in 15 months." |

ojibole1: My dear it's too lucrative I'm regretting y I'm nt a science student I would hv been studying nursing as we speak for a 2nd degree...my sister did nursing 4 8months abroad n nw she's in $$$$... we jst spoke nw sef n she still wishes I were a science student. You don't have to be science oriented to study nursing. I know two Accountant and other two management background professionals who migrated to Australia studied nursing, and earning very well. |

bellong: This is where you do a thorough study. Use the occupation code to search the job descriptions and requirements of each occupation on ANZSCO website.
After doing that, you will be able to arrive at which to follow. Okay, thanks boss |

bellong: Do you have experience in accounting at all? With what you wrote, you stand a better chance with your accounting than training and development. If you have experience in occupational health too, it is good, only that you will strife harder to get more points as the occupation requires a diploma which is 10points. Yes I have less than 10 months work experience in an Accounting field, more years experience in administration and training. You feel the work experience and using my degree could work? I'll also like to know how you knew Diploma is needed for the Training and development. Thanks boss |

bellong: First, VETASSES is not responsible for assessing accountants. There are three bodies doing that, you can assess with any of them. Check the list for their contact.
Your syllabus and course content will determine whether you get positive or negative. If you have ICAN, it will strengthen your application. Oh yea, true IPA, CPA assess for accounting, i do not have ICAN, i was recently considering assessing with VETASSES for Training and development professional in the CSOL list, where i have 5 years work experience as a Training officer, i also have Diploma in Occupational health and safety. On the ANZCO code it is in Group 2, any idea if my Accounting degree (Australian Associate degree) with the diploma can make me eligible to apply? |

Thanks bellong for opening this thread. VETASSES i assume might give a negative assessment because i applied to an Australian University for Masters in Accounting with my Accounting degree here from a state university, they said it is equivalent to an Associate degree, which has militated against considering any of the skilled migration visa classes for Accounting occupations on the SOL, CSOL. RSMS. Do you think i could get a positive assessment if i apply to Vetasses, my Back evaluated by World evaluation service as equivalent to USA 4 year Accounting degree. Thanks boss |

ferdiii: Do u have ICAN or some post B.Sc qualifications? I doubt only ur B.Sc will do unless it covers what they are looking at. Check with the assessing authorities.
Do states have accountants on the CSOL?
B.Sc is B.Sc whether obtained via part-time or full-time...whether ODL or not. Thanks Oga ferdi. Yea, Accounting is still very much in the CSOL list. I do not have ICAN yet, i read through and discovered only First degree is not sufficient to get good assessment. Could there be an exception? I checked the Units required for Management Accountant and Accountant general, my transcript contained all the mandatory and the optional ones. " Mandatory (you must have successfully completed these courses) Accounting Systems and Processes Financial Accounting Management Accounting Accounting Theory Optional (you must have successfully completed at least 5 of the above listed courses) Finance Auditing Commercial Law Economics Quantitative Methods Information Systems Design and Development Taxation Law Company Law" Has any one had a positive assessment with only 9ja Bachelors degree without ACCA,ICAN or work experience? Thanks. |

NNBB2012: I don't think the mode of obtaining your degree really matters but what matters is the core courses you took which your assessing body would consider. Check the assessing body's requirements and run with that. Thanks much |
