This is how it all started.

So I started this plantain farm last year after my NYSC. it was a hard decision for me to take to invest in farming with little experience in the field.

I Summouned the courage of starting this business with the little capital I have.

Today I have 3000 plantain stand which will be ready by February or march.

To all the job seekers out dia, pls invest in farming most especially plantain farming and see how ur life will look like in 9month.

In my opinion, I think those campaigning against private universities are only myopic.

All those points listed by Op are partially relevant only in Nigeria because of the education system in the country.

Is it not in public universities where the lecturer will not come to class but only send handouts?
Is it not in public universities where the class will have up to 200 students or more bundled together in a lecture hall that can't accommodate more than 100 students?

Is it not in public universities that your scripts will be lost and the lecturer will just give you any grade and nothing will happen? (I think this is why public universities produced less First Class students, at least in my own case).

Can you compare the practical classes of public universities with that of private universities?
And the most embarrassing part of it is when some shallow minded people comment that private universities fee are too high, especially the missionary school. I just laugh at their foolishness. Is it not in this country where tuition fee of 100k is paid per term on secondary school students and yet the teachers are paid lesser. Now compare it to how much the lecturers collect per month, and other social amenities that have to be made available? In fact, tuition fee being paid in state universities these days are now moving towards that of the private universities.

There are many other points. But my conclusion is that we should leave those that chose to go to private universities, it isn't your business.

Meanwhile, I had my B.tech and MSc. in public universities here in South West (no regrets).

For your information, he was only asking about where to get acre for 100k. I'm not a farm manager and I am not interested in setting up farm for people. I do so for myself only.
What I'm correcting about your business is that 350k is way too high most especially when the land is rented and not bought. Besides, who plants plantain on a rented land?

Op, I don't think it is reasonable to rent/lease land for any kind of cash crop. The owners can do anything tomorrow. rather, buy your own land.

With all the allegations against this guy, if they are true, I think he should be reported to the police or effc. This case should please not be swept under carpet. Any lawyer in the house?

This is plantain plantation simplified, Do you that with just 350k you can be a proud owner of one acre of plantain plantation on rented one acre of land and make great profiit withoout lifting a hoe or cutlass...

This will not even disturb your current business or career and yet create another source of income.
The 350k will include
lease of the land
purchase of hybrid suckers (1000pieces)
irrigation and farm management for the year till harvest
planting and clearing of the farm land
weeding and farm maintenance...

In my place here, you can buy an acre for 100k. Just 50k will be enough to buy 1000 suckers and each will be planted at the rate of #10. if planted between May and August, there is no need for irrigation.

Learn from the thread of how Mr Lesgup or what is the name sef is in trouble for managing farm on behalf of a client.

This is shocking. Having gone through the expenses, he was truthful enough. Anyway, let us wait for him to give his explanation.

As pointed out you can use any clear transparent nylon but be sure you can move the temperature inside your structure down to below 30C. Most structures with poly cover on the top climb up to 40C. This is total failure, except you want to use a cooler.

If you still decide to use this option, look out for the thickness of the nylon which is measured in microns. Minimum of 150 microns is what you need. 200 is recommended and 250 to 300 is better. Also, the kind of UV protector it has and how long it will last under 35C is what you should ask your supplier. Again, find cover with anti drip. You know that when nylon is heated, it will have some kind of water under it and you start having droplets of water on your plants. You do not want this as it causes fungi infection. You need one that drips to the sides of the structure so that the droplets of water slide down at the sides without causing any harm. You should check the shade percentage your cover has got, most good covers are 20 to 25%. Is your cover reflective? If yes, it will be more expensive because you get better sunlight. And finaly, is your cover able to filter out light sprectrum of pests? If yes, it will be extremely expensive.

In conclusion, you should get it at $0.2 to about $4 or more per square meter depending on what you buy. The higher the micron, the heavier it is and the more the cost if you choose air cargo for delivery.

You can source for these kinds of covers or nets on most chinese business to business, or business to customers websites like aliexpress, alibaba, 1688 etc. Also, you can check amazon or ebay. I know some guys are beginning to make covers here but I still do not trust such products.

Yes. From two stands in our backyard, I harvested 5 this year. It should be more if not for our neighbors that pluck the ugwu carelessly.

Believe me, if things turn around negatively, it is the same parent that will say what have you been using all the salary u had been collecting since to do.

20k for planting on a plot? That woman is wicked. With 20k I will pay labourers that will plant 5 acres of cassava. I guess it is your first time of business. Please and please, whenever you are doing any business that will make use of labourers, make sure you are aggressive.

The Police Command in Adamawa State has confirmed that a mob killed a police inspector on Thursday along the Wuro - Dole -Pariya Road in Girei Local Government area of the state .
The command ’s Spokesman , SP Othman Abubakar, said the incident occurred following a misunderstanding between some passengers and a routine patrol team along the road .
Abubakar who did not give details of the “misunderstanding ” simply said that it led to the deceased opening fire which resulted in the killing of the passenger .
He said the late inspector was mobbed to death, adding that the police had recovered his corpse and gun with eight rounds of live ammunition .
An eyewitness , who simply identified himself as Sadiq , told the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN ) that the incident followed a disagreement over a N 50 bribe .
According to him , the driver of the vehicle in which the late passenger was travelling in offered a N50 bribe to the policemen but they insisted on collecting N100 .
He said that a passenger challenged them and that led to a hot argument and the shooting of the passenger and injuring of another by the inspector .
“Angry about what happened , a mob attacked the inspector who was trying to escape and lynched him ,” Sadiq said .

a pumping machine that will be powered by fuel in my farm.
a tube/pipe that I will connect with the rain gun.

I need to ask, the rain gun runs on what? fuel? or it works on its own? please, answer this. my farms are in villages not far from Ibadan in oyo state.
