Good evening @all,

Please I have some questions to ask regarding study permit application.

1. Do IRCC still have official rate for the proof of fund or what? I have checked their website and it is no longer there.

2. What is the current amount in CAD for the accompany spouse livingexpenses. Initially, it used to be $5,000 when the student living expenses was $10,000 and that of the children?

I will appreciate your contributions, please.

Thank you.

Greetings,

I sent my sister's passport to VAC Lagos, where she had her biometric. She got the passport request on 26th June, and we sent it via DHL on 27th June, but because of the holiday, it was delivered on Friday, 30th June 2023. We paid 18,710 on the same 27th of June for the one-way courier. However, I have not heard from vfs since it got delivered.

When I checked the vfs website today, they updated their service fees effective Monday, 3rd July 2023.

I'm wondering if I'm expected to pay the newly affected fee, which is 30k, or if I'm good with 18.7k since I spent before the freshly set fees.

No email, no sms, or any form of notification from vfs to date.

Please, if you know how best to contact vfs, share the details with me. The phone number on the site is not going; always busy.

Thank you for your contribution.

*The Landing Gist*

Nice to be here! From the beginning of the journey till I landed in Saskatchewan, Ca. To God be the Glory.

The journey from Nigeria to Cairo was a smooth one, the only itch I have was the internet connection at the Cairo Airport. I got to know that you have access to free 30mins of internet access, all you need to do is to log in with your MTN number but must start with 0023480xxxxxxx, you will then receive a code on the said number. Most time, it may take forever to receive the code.

Try and get a smaller denomination of dollars if you wish to buy anything in Cairo Airport, no change at all.

From Cairo to Toronto
The journey of 11hr45mins started at about 3 am Cairo time, it was a long journey for me and my family being first-time travelers! They served us well, I requested more food anyway. It was a nice experience indeed.

We landed at the Toronto airport, and boarded a flight to Saskatoon, another 3hrs50mins, my buttocks pain ooo. I tried to change $200 USD to CAD in Toronto, the woman scammed me oo. She gave me 212.75 CAD for the 200 USD I gave her. Instead of 249 CAD. Thank God I didn't change all my money through her.

I got my Study permit and my wife got her OWP, my baby got her visitor permit. The immigration officer only asked me for my enrollment letter. We landed in Saskatoon, lovely environment cool and calm.
On arrival at the Saskatoon airport, my supervisor was already waiting to receive us! It was a memorable moment, which can never be erased.

On Monday!

We went for our SIN numbers enrollment and Bank account opening at Royal Bank of Canada, I deposits all the USD I bought from Nigeria, I got a good conversion rate, 1 USD =1.285CAD. We enrolled for our health card.

Tuesday
Went to my faculty, they have already arranged my office with all the necessary gadgets, wow! I felt elated. I got to my research laboratory, I was speechless, everything is at it's best.

Wednesday
Went for shopping and get some foodstuffs and others! What a nice experience. Above all, we enjoyed every part of the journey to the land of Canada.

Documents I used during the journey

1. International passport
2. Letter of introduction (they don't ask me anyway)
3. Covid-19 vaccine card was only asked in Nigeria Airport
4. Arrival Can was asked at the Toronto airport

I pray for everyone waiting for this testimony that your testimony will never elude you. You will surely testify.

If you are in Saskatoon or coming to the University of Saskatchewan, let's connect abeg.

To God be the glory.

Greetings to you all.

In preparation for the journey ahead, can anyone who has used EgyptAir recently tell me what documents are needed for the flight?

I want to be sure because we would be transiting through the Cairo to Toronto.

Thank you for your contribution

Greetings famz!

Please I used an agent to book my flight from Lagos to Saskatoon, my mind told me to check the status of my ticket through Egyptair, so I downloaded their App and log in with our details (Myself, wife, and 14 months old toddler )

These are my observations when I log in to verify our tickets

1. The cost of our flight is 2.267m but he charged me 2.796m, that's a tune of 526k just to book a flight

2. He attached my baby to my wife, they both shared the same booking reference code, he charged me 122,000 for the baby but when I check online, I saw one traveler, which is my wife.
Has anyone traveled with their toddler and experienced this issue? Does my baby need to have her separate reference or reflect on my wife's ticket?

3. I have contacted the agent, and his explanation of the overcharging aspect was kept aside. He insisted that my baby would reflect if Egyptair check us in.

Please help me with any available information as regards this toddler traveling with her mother.

Thank you

Greetings NLs,

I have been receiving this message since Monday whenever I track my passport on vfsglobal, but their email says something different.

This is what I got on vfsglobal whenever I track my passport

"Visa application, tracking ID No.xxxxxxxxxx– Your processed passport has been dispatched from the Canada Visa Office on 2022/07/06 to the Canada Visa Application Centre. Your decision envelope will be returned to you via the courier service offered by the VAC. Collection of decision envelopes in-person at the VAC is not permitted until further notice. Please refer to the “Buy Services” page of the VAC website for further information on courier services offered by the VAC.

This is the mail I received from the donotreply@vfsglobal

"The decision envelope for your application, tracking ID No. ******** has been received from the IRCC Office on Wed Jul 06 2022 and has been dispatched to the Canada Visa Application Centre Abuja OC.

Currently I don't know where to trace my passport to. Has anyone experienced this situation? If you can interpret the message, please help a brother.

Thank you and God bless you

Thank you for your contribution.
My wife visa is SOWP and my baby who is just a year old got visiting Visa.
The program is for September

francisxbee:

If it is student visa, you do not need a return flight.
Did Your wife and baby get visiting visa or sowp?
If they got visit visa, then they need to book return ticket.
But you can book one way for yourself.
If your program is for September this year, then the price he gave you for all 3 is quite fair.
But if it is for Next year, there are cheaper alternatives on Lufthansa.

1,752,213.00 for the family of three (2 adults and one infant) one-way.
The agent is a friend to my uncle and my uncle beloved so much in him.

Since I'm the only one studying out of the three, he said they will not allow me at the airport.

MaameU:
Did your agent tell you why you cannot book a one-way ticket? Please may I know why you decided to use an agent to book your flight? When do you intend to fly? My spouse has booked a one way ticket by himself (we find it cheaper than using an agent) but hasn't travelled yet. Do you mind sharing the price your agent is quoting?

Please if you are already in Canada from Nigeria or you have booked your flight to Canada kindly help a brother.

I wanted to book our flight to Saskatoon(a family of 3), but the agent they introduced to me said that I can't buy a one-way ticket.

He said I have to book the return tickets which is extremely expensive.

How true is this please?

Please help

Hello Nairalanders,

Kindly help a brother.
An agent told me that I must book a return ticket as a first-time traveler.
He said I might have challenges at the POE if I buy a one-way ticket. How true is this, please?

If you have any contributions to this, kindly help, please.

Thank you

Good morning NL families,

I got a medical request this morning for a family of 3. I'm the primary applicant, anyway.

Please what is the chance of Visa approval after passing medical?

2. Which of the facility is faster to have the medical done? Qlife or IOM? Abuja or in Lagos?

Your contribution would be highly appreciated.

Thank you

Thank you for your contribution. I got study leave approval from my state government, and I want to us the opportunity to apply work permit for my wife. If my work in Nigeria and my families is not enough as ties, means I will first submit my application.

Toceen2022:
@oppemipo
In addition to that, your POF is not yet complete o

For you as the main applicant, let's accept the funding covers you for 2 years.

For your wife and kid, you need $4000 and $3000 respectively for a year. That means, you need $14,000 for both of them in 2 years. And you have $11,000. You're still short of $3,000.

Mind you, you're not expected to have exactly the amount needed, there are some amount of money you should also have for miscellaneous (e.g transportation ticket, emergency spending etc). That may amount to around $3000 CAD each for everyone.

Personally, I'll advise you to leave your wife and kid, and when you get to Canada after 3 months or so, then apply for them to join you. That will also strengthen your home tie. But if you know you have the money and strong home ties, you can go ahead and apply together . But don't forget, you have $38k CAD funding, don't let it go to waste.

Before you think of points to convince the visa officer why you're going with your family, what are your home ties? It could be the tiebreaker in the officer's decision!

I am a Senior Officer (Physiotherapist) working with State government. I will on 2 years paid study leave from my state government through the Ministry of Health. I have collected the study leave approval letter to be uploaded.

Hello gurus,

I have secured a fully funded program at the USASK, 38,000CAD for the duration of 2yrs. My tuition fee is 8,095 CAD/yr, I also have 3.7m (about 11,000 CAD) in my Savings account for my wife and daughter living and additional expenses in Canada.
I have started my visa application but I wish to include my wife and 11 months old daughter. Can this fly, if I explain why I want my wife to follow me, our baby needs both parents at this stage of her life and leaving her and the mother could infringe on her right of access to parental care.

Please I need support on how I can package my application as I don't want to lose this opportunity. Thank you as you contribute.
