I just need to say it loud, let us appreciate good things. We all know we need real standard medical service and this man is partnering with this organisation to achieve this.It is not going to be funded by the state, it is IPP, government will provide some amenities land among other things while the organisation will fund the building and the equipment,same for the Silverbird Cinema and Shopping mega plaza under construction in GRA (with Shoprite)

Amaechi has been a blessing to the state judging by my 8 years experience in Port Harcourt.I have never seen any serious effort in developing the state the way the young man is going before.BMH that was almost moribund during Odili era is in an enviable state both in equipment and structure, I have been there lately. This is aside several Medical center he's buidling aggressively in all LGAs.If you have been to PH lately, you'll see massive road construction activities in almost every part of PH.

It is just recently after the renovations and upgrade that I noticed public schools in PH because all the while they where like junk yards.These among other things are what this guy has done and still doing.I want to say categorically that these kind of development has not been seen in Rivers for more than 8 years and I think this guy should be commended.He might not be as good as Fashola or any other Governor in UK or US but he's one of the best in the country now and we should encourage him to do more.

Sometime a little appreciation is needed to get more !!!

It is amazing that Akala wants to build public toilets where people don't even have water to drink and government cannot provide water.Pipe borne water does not flow anywhere in Ibadan.If you have been there recently you'll see how people carry buckets and jerry cans around searching for water.

Who says N5m is not too much for toilet? I can authoritatively tell you that with N6m you can finish a 3br flat with 4 toilets and washing hand basins, I mean standard fittings.I stand to be challenged on this !!!

500-700k for a truck? That sounds ridiculous.I don't beleive that any good truck will be less than 2m, anyway best of luck.

A lot of people just post things about businesses they know nothing about. I will illustrate.

Firstly, the starter of this thread is talking about starting a business; a filling station business. He is not talking about just station construction. That is only one aspect. Some people here who are saying it doesn't cost as much as N50million to start this businesses simply do not know what they are saying.

How much does a plot of land go for in a place like Abuja. Lagos or PH? In some places, as much as N15million a plot! In others, even more! You need at least 3 plots to build a standard station woth 6 pumps minimum (4 PMS, 1 AGO, 1 DPK).

By the time you are done with the various stages of DPR (APPROVAL TO CONSTRUCT) and PPMC (APPROVAL TO LIFT AND SELL PETROLEUM PRODUCTS UNDER CATEGORY 2 LICENSING) approvals as well as construction, at least N30million would have been spent.

By the time you now get into trucking, working capital, licensing of the workers, how much do you think you would have spent?

I did a feasibility for someone and the amount came to roughly N45million (as at 2008). So those who feel the N50million figure is unrealistic should give us their own figures and how they arrived at them. Many stations are being advertised for between N150million to N180million in some locations I know of. So what are we saying here?

Secondly, someone said it is not a profitable venture. Very funny! Let's do some Maths here.

There is at least a N3 gain margin for every litre of PMS (after all costs have been deducted). A normal allocation to a station is 2 trucks a day. A truck is 30,000 or 33, 000 litres. If a station gets two 30,000 litre trucks a day, that is N3 X 60,000 litres = N180, 000 a day. This translates to N1, 080, 000 (Monday to Saturday).

Question is do they meet this sale target? Yes! Some of our major roads have an unbelieveable amount of traffic on them. During the last fuel scarcity, I actually took time to cross check how long two trucks given to a particular station lasted. They ran out even before the day ended.

Now how can anyone tell me that a venture that is making a profit of N1m every week (on PMS alone) is not profitable?

Please let's get our facts straight so we know what is truly obtainable.

But tin the real sense, do they get 2 trucks per day?. Maybe to be on the safe side one should be looking at 1 truck per day or do you think 2 per day is realistic?

Forex is sweat but there are so many con guys in the business, even the guys that disturb our radio airways everyday are involved.

I know a friend that invested with the so called Goodness (Prof Forex on radio) and for close to 2 months, it's been one excuse or the other.Imagine if he had used his N1m to buy a small car or even go on holiday (8 months ago), at least it would have been money well spent.I also have my bitter experience with David and Nonsos of this world, anyway God dey.

Some Nigerians are indeed terrible people.God saves Naija.
