GRASSROOTS MOBILIZERS (GM) NWC CONGRATULATES REAR ADMIRAL JOHN NICHOLAS BAKPO (RTD) ON HIS EMERGENCE AS SECOND VICE PRESIDENT OF KAGOTE

Abuja - The National Working Committee (NWC) of Grassroots Mobilizers (GM) heartily felicitates and congratulates our esteemed National Patron, Rear Admiral John Nicholas Bakpo (Rtd) on his well-deserved emergence as the Second Vice President of KAGOTE, the apex socio-cultural organization of the Ogoni people.

This landmark achievement is a clear testament to his lifetime of selfless service, uncommon leadership capacity, discipline, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the peace, unity, and development of Ogoniland and Rivers State at large.

KAGOTE (Khana, Gokana, Tai and Eleme) stands as the highest socio-cultural umbrella body of the Ogoni nationality. It was established to unite the Ogoni people, protect their collective interests, preserve their rich cultural heritage, promote peace and cohesion, and serve as a credible voice in engagements with government and relevant stakeholders on issues affecting Ogoniland.

At this critical juncture in Ogoni history, KAGOTE requires visionary, experienced, and nationally respected leaders who can provide direction, foster unity, and strengthen its institutional relevance. This is why the emergence of Rear Admiral John Nicholas Bakpo (Rtd) is timely and strategic.

Rear Admiral Bakpo brings to KAGOTE a rare blend of military discipline, strategic leadership, administrative competence, and moral authority earned over decades of meritorious service to the nation. His wealth of experience in security management, conflict resolution, national integration, and leadership at the highest levels positions him as a stabilizing force and a bridge-builder within and beyond Ogoniland.

His consistent advocacy for peace, youth empowerment, community development, and inclusive leadership aligns perfectly with the ideals and aspirations of KAGOTE. Without doubt, his presence in the leadership of the apex body will strengthen its credibility, expand its reach, and inspire confidence among the Ogoni people and development partners.

The Grassroots Mobilizers (GM) National Working Committee sincerely appreciates and thanks the Ogoni people for the overwhelming trust, love, and confidence reposed in Rear Admiral John Nicholas Bakpo (Rtd). This collective decision reflects the wisdom of the people and their desire for purposeful leadership rooted in integrity, competence, and service.

IMPEACHMENT DRUMBEATS AGAINST GOV. FUBARA: LOUDER BUT EMPTIER IN SUBSTANCE
By Distg. Comr. Nubor Optimist Goteh

In recent weeks, the political space in Rivers State has been inundated with renewed impeachment drumbeats against His Excellency, Governor Siminalayi Fubara. These threats, amplified by a few desperate actors, may sound loud in the media, but in truth, they are hollow, baseless, and empty in substance.

Impeachment under the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) is not a political slogan nor a weapon of intimidation. It is a grave constitutional process strictly guided by law, evidence, and due process. For any impeachment to stand, there must be clear, provable allegations of gross misconduct as defined by the Constitution. To date, no such offense has been committed by Governor Fubara. None has been substantiated. None even credibly alleged.

What we are witnessing is not a constitutional exercise but a calculated attempt by vested interests—threatened by Governor Fubara’s independence, people-centered governance, and refusal to mortgage the future of Rivers State—to create artificial tension and distract the government from its mandate. These forces thrive on chaos, not progress; on propaganda, not performance.

Governor Fubara’s administration has remained focused on stabilizing Rivers State, promoting peace, strengthening institutions, and delivering dividends of democracy across communities. His calm disposition in the face of provocation reflects statesmanship and a deep respect for the rule of law. While others beat war drums, he continues to govern.

Let it be clearly stated: nothing will happen to Governor Fubara. The impeachment threats will fail, just as previous attempts at political blackmail have failed. Rivers people are wiser, institutions are stronger, and the Constitution is clear. Noise cannot replace numbers, and intimidation cannot override legality.

Furthermore, Governor Fubara remains the undisputed political leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State. His growing influence within the party is rooted in legitimacy, popular support, and alignment with the progressive ideals of the APC at the national level. He enjoys the confidence of the grassroots, the backing of well-meaning stakeholders, and the goodwill of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The vision is clear and unwavering: Governor Siminalayi Fubara will complete his constitutional mandate and, by the grace of God and the will of the people, serve Rivers State for eight uninterrupted years. No amount of empty threats, sponsored protests, or legislative theatrics will derail this destiny.

We therefore urge Rivers people, members of the APC, and supporters of good governance to remain calm, vigilant, and focused. Do not be distracted by political noise. The future of Rivers State is secure, and its leadership is stable.

History will remember this moment not for the volume of the threats, but for their emptiness—and for the resilience of a people who chose progress over politics.

Politics › Impeachment Without Constitutional Basis: Why The Rivers State House Of Assembly by Optimistic2021(op): 2:48pm On Jan 18
IMPEACHMENT WITHOUT CONSTITUTIONAL BASIS:
WHY THE RIVERS STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY CANNOT REMOVE GOVERNOR SIMINALAYI FUBARA

GM National Media Board
Sunday, 18th January, 2026

The recent agitations and political grandstanding by a faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA), purportedly led by Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, over the impeachment of His Excellency, Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, are not only unconstitutional but also politically reckless, legally untenable, and morally indefensible.

This editorial is necessitated by the need to enlighten Rivers people, Nigerians, and the international community on the clear constitutional position: Governor Fubara cannot be impeached under the current circumstances because no impeachable offence has been committed, and the constitutional process for impeachment has not been validly activated.

1. FAILURE THEN, FAILURE NOW

It is instructive to note that these same political actors failed woefully in their attempts to destabilize Governor Fubara when he was a card-carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Today, having aligned himself with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the interest of peace, governance, and federal synergy, the impeachment drumbeats have resurfaced—this time even louder but emptier in substance.

If they could not lawfully impeach him then, they certainly cannot do so now, especially when the Governor enjoys broader national political backing and has remained steadfast in constitutional governance.

2. WHAT THE CONSTITUTION SAYS

The 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) is explicit on impeachment.

Section 188 (1) states that a Governor can only be removed for “gross misconduct”, which the Constitution defines in Section 188 (11) as:

“A grave violation or breach of the provisions of this Constitution or misconduct of such nature as amounts in the opinion of the House of Assembly to gross misconduct.”

To date:
No grave violation of the Constitution has been proven against Governor Fubara.

No act of corruption, abuse of office, treason, or constitutional breach has been established.

Mere political disagreement, refusal to submit to godfatherism, or insistence on due process does not amount to gross misconduct.

The Constitution is clear: impeachment is a legal process, not a political weapon.

3. DUE PROCESS HAS BEEN FATALLY COMPROMISED

Beyond the absence of any impeachable offence, the RSHA faction lacks the constitutional standing and legitimacy to initiate impeachment.

The Constitution requires:

•A properly constituted House of Assembly.

•A two-thirds majority of all elected members.

•Service of allegations on the Governor.

•A seven-day response window.

•The setting up of a neutral investigative panel.

Any House of Assembly operating under internal crisis, disputed legitimacy, or acting in defiance of court orders cannot validly commence impeachment proceedings. Courts have consistently held that due process is sacrosanct in impeachment matters (see Inakoju v. Adeleke).

4. GOVERNOR FUBARA HAS GOVERNED WITH RESTRAINT AND RESPONSIBILITY

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has:

1. Promoted peace and stability in Rivers State.

2. Prioritized workers’ welfare and civil service harmony.

3. Ensured continuity of governance and development projects.

4. Respected the rule of law and separation of powers.

These are not the actions of a Governor deserving impeachment. Rather, they reflect statesmanship, maturity, and constitutional fidelity.

5. THE REAL MOTIVE: POLITICAL VENDETTA AND EXTERNAL CONTROL

It is evident that the impeachment push is:

1. Politically motivated.

2. Driven by vested interests and godfatherism.

3. A reaction to the Governor’s refusal to mortgage Rivers State to private political empires.

Rivers people must be reminded that the mandate of Governor Fubara was freely given by the electorate, not by political overlords. No Assembly, acting as a proxy for external forces, can overturn the will of the people through unconstitutional means.

6. APC MEMBERSHIP STRENGTHENS, NOT WEAKENS, HIS POSITION

Now a card-carrying member of the ruling APC, Governor Fubara enjoys:

1. National political relevance.

2. Federal alignment.

3. Wider institutional confidence.

Any attempt to impeach him without constitutional justification would not only fail but would plunge the state into avoidable crisis, which the law, the courts, and the Nigerian people will resist.

CONCLUSION

Impeachment is not a tool for intimidation, blackmail, or political vendetta.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has committed no impeachable offence.

The Rivers State House of Assembly, as currently postured by the Amaewhule-led faction, lacks both the moral and constitutional authority to remove him.

Rivers State deserves stability, development, and democracy—not political desperation.

SAY NO TO “CORNER-CORNER” SUPPORT: WHO ARE THEY DECEIVING—THEMSELVES OR THE WISE PEOPLE OF RIVERS STATE?

By Distg. Comr. Nubor Optimist Goteh
Director, National Media Board, Grassroots Mobilizers (GM)

In politics, actions speak louder than press statements, and records speak louder than propaganda. The unfolding drama surrounding the 16 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA), including the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule—who publicly claimed to have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC)—has exposed a troubling contradiction between words and verifiable political conduct. As of today, none of these lawmakers has registered as APC members in their respective wards. This glaring omission raises fundamental questions: who exactly are they trying to deceive—President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC leadership, or the discerning people of Rivers State?

DEFECTION IS A PROCESS, NOT A PRESS CONFERENCE

Defection in Nigeria’s constitutional democracy is not a mere declaration before television cameras or partisan gatherings. It is a procedural and documentary process that begins at the ward level—the foundation of party membership. Registration at the ward, recognition by the local government and state party structures, and formal documentation are non-negotiable steps. Without these, defection remains a political claim, not a legal or administrative fact.

The continued failure of the 16 RSHA members to register in their wards suggests either indecision or deliberate political double-speak. You cannot sit in two boats at the same time. You cannot claim allegiance to a party while retaining operational ties to another. Politics does not reward ambiguity forever.

THE CONSTITUTION AND THE COST OF POLITICAL GYMNASTICS

Section 109(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) is explicit on the consequences of defection for legislators elected on a party platform, except in limited circumstances clearly defined by law. This constitutional clarity explains the hesitation and the calculated silence at the ward level. Registration is not just symbolic; it carries legal consequences.

Thus, the so-called defection begins to look less like conviction and more like political gymnastics—a strategy to enjoy the benefits of multiple affiliations while avoiding the responsibilities and risks that come with a definitive choice.

“CORNER-CORNER” SUPPORT AND THE POLITICS OF DECEPTION

The era of “corner-corner” support—where politicians whisper loyalty in private while shouting neutrality in public—has lost relevance. Rivers people are politically conscious, informed, and experienced. They have seen this script before: strategic ambiguity designed to curry favor on all sides, hoping to negotiate relevance regardless of outcomes.

If the intention was genuine alignment with the APC and its leadership, the process would have been transparent, verifiable, and immediate. Anything short of that is political theatre.

ARE THEY TRYING TO MISLEAD THE PRESIDENT?

President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a master strategist and an institutional politician. The suggestion that half-hearted maneuvers and undocumented claims could mislead him underestimates his political intelligence and the robustness of party structures nationwide. The APC is not a social club; it is an organized political institution with records, registers, and procedures.

Any attempt to project false strength or claim unearned support before the President risks not only embarrassment but political irrelevance.

RIVERS PEOPLE DESERVE SINCERITY, NOT SCHEMES

At the heart of this issue is the interest of Rivers State. Governance suffers when lawmakers are distracted by survival politics and factional games. The people deserve legislators focused on lawmaking, oversight, and development—not endless intrigues driven by personal ambition.

The current administration in Rivers State has enjoyed overwhelming grassroots support, anchored on legitimacy, transparency, and people-centered governance. Attempts to undermine this mandate through political trickery will not stand the test of time or public scrutiny.

THE VERDICT OF HISTORY AND THE PEOPLE

History is unkind to political opportunism. Rivers people are watching. Party structures are watching. The nation is watching. You cannot pretend forever. Sooner or later, every politician must choose a side and live with the consequences.

This is a clear call: Say no to corner-corner support. Be bold enough to stand where you claim to belong. Anything else is self-deception—and Rivers people are far too wise to be deceived.

Politics › How Defection Killed The Wike–fubara Accord: Why A Pdp Peace Pact Cannot Thrive by Optimistic2021(op): 5:28am On Jan 13
HOW DEFECTION KILLED THE WIKE–FUBARA ACCORD: WHY A PDP PEACE PACT CANNOT THRIVE INSIDE THE APC

By Distg. Comr. Nubor Optimist Goteh

Politics is built on trust, shared ideology, and respect for party structures. When any of these pillars collapse, agreements—no matter how well-intentioned—become impossible to sustain. This reality explains why the much-talked-about Wike–Fubara understanding collapsed and why a peace pact conceived within the framework of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cannot realistically function inside the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Recently, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, alongside the former factional Chairman of the PDP in Rivers State, Chief Robinson Ewoh, revisited the controversial peace pact initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The initiative was presented as a roadmap to resolving the lingering political crisis in Rivers State. While the President’s intervention reflected statesmanship and a desire for stability, the foundations upon which the agreement rested had already been eroded.

THE ORIGINAL WIKE–FUBARA UNDERSTANDING

The Wike–Fubara political relationship was born, nurtured, and consummated within the PDP. It was anchored on party supremacy, shared political history, and mutual obligations under the PDP constitution and Rivers State political realities. Governor Siminalayi Fubara emerged through that structure, with support drawn from party leaders, stakeholders, and grassroots mobilization networks that believed in continuity within the PDP family.

However, politics does not forgive ideological contradiction. Once defection entered the equation, the moral and political basis of the agreement collapsed.

HOW DEFECTION KILLED THE AGREEMENT

Defection is not a mere personal choice; it is a political earthquake. When key actors moved away from the PDP political ecosystem, they effectively nullified the spirit and letter of any PDP-based agreement. You cannot defect from a house and still insist on enforcing its internal rules from outside.

Barr. Wike’s alignment with the APC—while retaining influence over PDP structures in Rivers—created an ideological paradox. The PDP agreement was designed to function within a PDP government, guided by PDP norms, expectations, and loyalties. Transplanting that agreement into the APC space amounts to political impossibility. It is akin to enforcing the rules of one constitution inside another sovereign system.

WHY A PDP AGREEMENT CANNOT WORK IN THE APC

The APC and PDP are not just different platforms; they are competitors with distinct ideologies, interests, and chains of command. A peace pact rooted in PDP supremacy cannot be enforced under an APC power structure without generating resistance, mistrust, and instability.

Governor Fubara’s legitimacy, mandate, and loyalty flow from the PDP and the people of Rivers State. Expecting him to submit to a PDP-crafted agreement now being driven through APC influence undermines democratic principles and party discipline. It also sends a dangerous message that electoral mandates can be overridden by post-election political realignments.

THE TINUBU PEACE INITIATIVE: GOOD INTENTIONS, WEAK FOUNDATION

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s intervention was motivated by national interest and the need for peace in Rivers State. However, peace initiatives must be grounded in political reality. Without restoring ideological consistency and respecting party boundaries, such agreements risk becoming tools of coercion rather than reconciliation.

True peace cannot be achieved by forcing a governor elected under one party to operate under the shadow of another party’s interests. Sustainable peace requires sincerity, respect for party supremacy, and acceptance of political consequences that follow defection.

The Rivers State crisis teaches a clear lesson: agreements are only as strong as the values and structures that support them. Defection killed the Wike–Fubara accord because it destroyed the shared PDP foundation on which the agreement was built. Likewise, a PDP agreement cannot work inside the APC because political ideologies, loyalties, and command structures do not mix by convenience.

For Rivers State to move forward, all actors must respect democratic mandates, party identities, and the will of the people. Anything short of this will only prolong the crisis under the guise of peace.

GRASSROOTS MOBILIZERS (GM) NATIONAL WORKING COMMITTEE COMMENDS GOVERNOR SIMINALAYI FUBARA AND PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU FOR PURPOSEFUL LEADERSHIP AND NATIONAL RENEWAL

Port Harcourt, Rivers State — The Grassroots Mobilizers (GM), through its National Media Board, issues this statement to strongly commend and promote the visionary leadership, courage, and people-oriented governance of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, Executive Governor of Rivers State, and His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Grassroots Mobilizers acknowledges Governor Siminalayi Fubara as a symbol of calm strength, accountability, and democratic maturity in Rivers State. Since assuming office, Governor Fubara has demonstrated uncommon commitment to due process, respect for the rule of law, and the prioritization of policies that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens. His administration’s focus on peace, inclusive governance, workers’ welfare, infrastructure renewal, and prudent management of state resources reflects a leader genuinely devoted to service rather than personal power.

GM further applauds Governor Fubara for restoring hope and confidence in governance, especially at the grassroots level, where development is most needed. His leadership style continues to inspire unity, stability, and renewed trust in public institutions across Rivers State.

At the national level, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown decisive leadership in confronting long-standing structural challenges confronting Nigeria. His bold economic reforms, commitment to strengthening national institutions, and drive toward sustainable growth underscore a clear vision for a more resilient, productive, and globally competitive Nigeria. While reforms require sacrifice, GM recognizes that President Tinubu’s actions are guided by the long-term national interest and the future of coming generations.

PRESS RELEASE

9th January, 2026

GRASSROOTS MOBILIZERS (GM) NATIONAL WORKING COMMITTEE CONDEMNS ILLEGAL IMPEACHMENT MOVES, WARNS WIKE–AMAEWHULE LED ASSEMBLY AGAINST CONTINUED SABOTAGE OF RIVERS STATE

The National Working Committee of Grassroots Mobilizers (GM) strongly condemns the recent actions and resolutions purportedly taken by the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Martin Amaewhule and allegedly instigated by Mr. Nyesom Wike, describing the moves as illegal, unconstitutional, provocative, and a direct assault on democracy and peace in Rivers State.

GM views the so-called impeachment process being orchestrated against the duly elected Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, as a sham, an abuse of legislative privilege, and a reckless attempt to destabilize the state for selfish political interests. These actions, we maintain, fall far short of constitutional standards and represent a deliberate effort to undermine the will of the Rivers people.

Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, the Convener of Grassroots Mobilizers, Hon. Norisia Wilfred Pepple, described the unfolding events as “a dangerous mockery of democracy and a calculated plot to plunge Rivers State into avoidable political tension.”
According to him, “A Speaker and a handful of lawmakers acting without broad authorization, moral legitimacy, or popular mandate have succeeded only in devaluing the integrity and credibility of the Rivers State House of Assembly before Nigerians and the international community.”

Hon. Pepple further warned that GM will no longer tolerate the continued harassment, intimidation, and distraction of the Fubara administration, which was freely elected by the people and remains focused on governance, peace, and development.

GM hereby issues a strong and unequivocal warning to Mr. Nyesom Wike and the Amaewhule-led Assembly to immediately desist from actions capable of heating up the polity. Rivers State has paid enough price for political conflict in the past and does not need another era of manufactured crisis.

We also state clearly that Mr. Nyesom Wike is not a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and therefore lacks both the political and moral authority to attempt to control or “reign” Rivers State under an APC government led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara. APC in Rivers State must be allowed to grow, stabilize, and govern without external interference or personal vendettas.

Grassroots Mobilizers reaffirms that Rivers State needs peace, stability, and purposeful leadership, not power tussles driven by ego and desperation. Any attempt to truncate the Fubara administration through unconstitutional means will be met with firm civic resistance and sustained political mobilization by the masses.

GM therefore unequivocally declares its total support, loyalty, and commitment to the Governor Siminalayi Fubara administration, and further pledges to mobilize massively for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Rivers State come 2027, in the interest of continuity, national stability, and democratic consolidation.

Rivers State belongs to its people — not to political godfathers.

Politics › Rivers State Belongs To The People, Not To Any Individual: Grassroots Mobilizers by Optimistic2021(op): 2:42pm On Dec 31, 2025
PRESS RELEASE

RIVERS STATE BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE, NOT TO ANY INDIVIDUAL: GRASSROOTS MOBILIZERS (GM) DEBUNKS MISLEADING CLAIM ON APC LEADERSHIP AND ELECTORAL VICTORY, AFFIRMS FUBARA AS APC LEADER IN RIVERS STATE.

The Grassroots Mobilizers (GM) National Working Committee through its National Media Board strongly condemns and unequivocally debunks the recent statement credited to Victor Giadom suggesting that “You must pass through Wike to win in Rivers State.”
This assertion is misleading, undemocratic, and fundamentally at variance with the principles of popular participation, party supremacy, and the collective will of the people of Rivers State.

Rivers State does not belong to any single individual, political godfather, or faction. Rivers State belongs to its people—resilient, politically conscious citizens whose votes, voices, and aspirations determine leadership through democratic processes. No one holds a monopoly over the political destiny of Rivers people, and no individual can arrogate to himself the role of political gatekeeper in a constitutional democracy.

GM asserts clearly that God has finally redeemed Rivers State through the purposeful, people-centered, and courageous leadership of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS. His emergence and steady governance mark a decisive break from politics of intimidation, exclusion, and personal control. Governor Fubara represents freedom, accountability, and a renewed social contract with the people.

FUBARA’S DECISION TO JOIN APC: A STATESMANLIKE MOVE

GM warmly commends His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for his bold and strategic decision to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC). This decision reflects maturity, foresight, and commitment to a broader national vision rooted in reform, inclusion, and development. It is a choice anchored on principle, not pressure; on service, not self-interest.

Governor Fubara’s acceptance within the APC underscores a vital truth: the APC is a party governed by structures, organs, and collective leadership—not by individuals. The APC’s strength lies in its institutions, its constitution, and its members across wards, local governments, states, and the federation.

WHO LEADS APC IN A STATE?

Across Nigeria, respected APC leaders have consistently emphasized that party leadership in any state is defined by constitutional organs and elected party executives, working in harmony with elected office holders and stakeholders. Leadership flows from due process—State Executive Committees, caucuses, elected representatives, and recognized stakeholders—not from personal claims or unilateral declarations.

As widely stated by APC leaders at various times, “No one owns the APC; the party belongs to its members.” Decisions are taken through consultation, consensus, and constitutional channels. This is the APC way.

APC CONSTITUTION IS CLEAR: GOVERNORS LEAD THE PARTY IN THEIR STATES

For the avoidance of doubt, the APC Constitution clearly recognizes elected Governors as leaders of the party in their respective states. Rivers State cannot be an exception. Whether it pleases anyone or not, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, is the undisputed political leader—the 001 of APC in Rivers State.

This position is consistent with established APC practice nationwide. Across the federation, APC leaders have repeatedly emphasized that:

1. The party is supreme.

2. Leadership flows from constitutional structures.
3. Elected Governors are the rallying point and leaders of the party in their states.

As echoed by respected APC leaders at various times:

“No individual owns the APC; the party belongs to its members and is guided by its constitution.”

Another consistent position within the party is that “Governors elected on the platform of the APC provide leadership for the party in their states in line with party constitution and political convention.”

Governor Fubara’s entry into the APC has strengthened the party in Rivers State, broadened its appeal, and reinforced unity among members. It further demonstrates that APC remains a party of inclusion, structure, and constitutional order.

NO SHORTCUT TO ELECTORAL VICTORY

The narrative that electoral victory depends on passing through a single individual is an insult to Rivers voters and an attempt to diminish their agency. Elections are won by credible leadership, people-oriented policies, party unity, grassroots mobilization, and trust—qualities Governor Fubara has demonstrated consistently.

Electoral victory in Rivers State, as elsewhere, is achieved through:

1. Popular support of the people
2. Credible leadership and governance
3. Strong party structures
4. Grassroots mobilization and unity

It is not achieved by “passing through” any individual. Such narratives insult the intelligence of Rivers voters and undermine democratic values.

Grassroots Mobilizers (GM) reiterates that Rivers people have embraced Governor Fubara because he governs with humility, fairness, and courage. His leadership has restored hope, reduced tension, and refocused governance on development and welfare. These are the credentials that win elections—not fear or false claims of control.

OUR POSITION REMAINS CLEAR

1. Rivers State belongs to all Rivers people, under God.

2. No individual is a political gatekeeper in Rivers State.

3. The APC is guided by its constitution and collective leadership.

4. Governor Siminalayi Fubara is the leader and 001 of APC in Rivers State.

5. Governor Siminalayi Fubara is a blessing to Rivers State and APC.

6. His alignment with APC strengthens democracy and party unity.

7. GM stands firmly with Governor Fubara and the people of Rivers State.

The Grassroots Mobilizers (GM) National Working Committee categorically rejects and debunks the statement credited to Victor Giadom, APC Vice Chairman, claiming that “You must pass through Wike to win in Rivers State.” This statement is misleading, undemocratic, and contrary to both political reality and the constitutional provisions guiding party administration and leadership.

Rivers State is not the personal estate of any individual, group, or political interest. Rivers State belongs to all Rivers people, and its political destiny is determined by the collective will of the electorate through democratic processes—not by self-appointed gatekeepers.

The Grassroots Mobilizers remain steadfast in mobilizing support for people-driven leadership and in defending the truth against misinformation. We stand with Governor Fubara and with the Rivers people as they continue on the path of peace, progress, and prosperity.

The Grassroots Mobilizers (GM) will continue to mobilize, educate, and defend the truth while supporting progressive leadership that puts the people first.

PRESS RELEASE

RE: FALSE CLAIMS ON GOVERNOR SIMINALAYI FUBARA’S POLITICAL STRUCTURE AND POPULAR SUPPORT

The Grassroots Mobilizers (GM) National Working Committee (NWC) has taken note of a misleading public statement credited to a former public office holder, alleging that His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, Governor of Rivers State, lacks a political structure and that his recent political realignment came too late to be effective.

We categorically refute this claim in its entirety and describe it as false, self-serving, and disconnected from the political realities on ground in Rivers State.

Governor Fubara’s Structure Is Real, Deep, and Formidable

Contrary to the misleading narrative, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has, over time, built and consolidated one of the most organic, people-driven, and formidable political structures in Rivers State. His structure is not artificial or dependent on coercion; it is rooted in governance performance, humility, accessibility, and genuine grassroots engagement.

From the wards to the local governments and across the senatorial districts, Governor Fubara enjoys the support of civil servants, youths, women groups, traditional institutions, professionals, faith-based organizations, and grassroots mobilizers who believe in his leadership style and developmental vision.

Governance, Not Noise, Defines Political Strength

Political strength in Rivers State today is no longer measured by noise, intimidation, or imposed loyalty, but by credibility, performance, and the trust of the people. Governor Fubara’s administration has demonstrated uncommon commitment to:
Workers’ welfare and prompt payment of salaries and bonuses
Peace, stability, and inclusiveness
Respect for institutions and the rule of law
Grassroots-oriented development and people-centered governance
These achievements have naturally translated into massive goodwill and political loyalty across party lines.

Rivers People Stand With Fubara — Beyond 2027

It is important to place on record that the people of Rivers State are solidly behind Governor Siminalayi Fubara. This support is not tied to electoral cycles alone but to the enduring belief that he represents a new era of leadership anchored on service, fairness, and dignity.

The suggestion that his support base is weak or time-bound is a gross miscalculation. Rivers people will continue to stand with Governor Fubara before, during, and even beyond 2027, because his leadership resonates with their collective aspirations.

The Future Belongs to the People

No individual or group has the monopoly of political structures in Rivers State. The real structure is the people, and today, the people are aligned with Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s vision for a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive Rivers State.

The GM NWC therefore urges the public to disregard distractions and revisionist claims, and instead focus on the undeniable fact that Governor Fubara’s leadership enjoys broad-based acceptance, legitimacy, and unwavering grassroots support.

SIR SIMINALAYI FUBARA, GSSRS: A STEADFAST LEADER AND A BlESSING TO RIVERS STATE

Leadership is best measured not by loud promises, but by quiet results, integrity of purpose, and unwavering commitment to the people. In His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, Rivers State has found a leader whose governance philosophy is anchored on service, humility, accountability, and people-oriented development.

From the onset of his administration, Governor Fubara has demonstrated uncommon courage and clarity of vision in steering the affairs of Rivers State. He emerged at a critical moment in the state’s political history and chose the path of peace, stability, and inclusive governance. Rather than govern for a few, he has consistently governed for all—placing the welfare of Rivers people above personal or sectional interests.

Governor Fubara’s leadership has brought renewed confidence to governance in Rivers State. His firm belief in due process, rule of law, and institutional respect has strengthened public trust in government. Under his watch, workers’ welfare has received priority attention, as evident in timely payment of salaries, improved working conditions, and notable gestures such as bonuses that uplift morale and reaffirm dignity of labour. These actions are not mere policies; they are reflections of a leader who understands the heartbeat of his people.

Economically, His Excellency has shown prudence, transparency, and responsibility in the management of state resources. By focusing on fiscal discipline and redirecting public funds toward impactful projects, his administration continues to lay a solid foundation for sustainable development. Infrastructure renewal, support for local businesses, and emphasis on human capital development remain key pillars of his governance agenda.

Beyond policies and projects, Sir Siminalayi Fubara stands out for his character. His calm disposition, resilience in the face of pressure, and refusal to be distracted from governance underscore a rare quality in leadership. He has proven that strength does not always shout; sometimes it is expressed through consistency, patience, and moral courage.

Indeed, Governor Fubara is a blessing to Rivers State. His leadership symbolizes hope for a more united, peaceful, and prosperous state. He has rekindled the belief that government can truly work for the people when led with sincerity and purpose.

As Rivers people, the responsibility before us is clear. Electorates, stakeholders, community leaders, youths, women, and elders must continue to support, protect, and defend a leadership that prioritizes the collective good. Constructive engagement, unity, and civic responsibility are essential to ensuring that the gains of this administration are sustained and expanded. Political stakeholders must place Rivers State above partisan interests, while the people must remain vigilant, supportive, and committed to the vision of progress.

The future of Rivers State is brighter when its people stand firmly behind leadership that serves with integrity. Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, has shown the way—now it is the duty of all Rivers people to walk with him on the path of peace, development, and shared prosperity.

XMAS CELEBRATION/ END-OF-YEAR FELLOWSHIP AND LOYALTY: Rear Admiral John Nicholas Bakpo (Rtd) Hosts Grassroots Mobilizers GM, Celebrates Faith, Unity, and Service in Kaa.

The serene town of Kaa in Khana Local Government Area on Thursday 25th December ,2025 came alive with colour, music, faith, and political solidarity as the National Patron of the Grassroots Mobilizers (GM), Rear Admiral John Nicholas Bakpo (Rtd), hosted a memorable End of Year Party for the Grassroots Mobilizers GM National Working Committee (NWC), leaders, and members drawn from across the state.

The historic event, held at the residence of the National patron in Kaa community, brought together politics, fellowship, and thanksgiving in an atmosphere of warmth , discipline, and unity.

The historic gathering, graciously hosted by the Rear Admiral himself, was formally declared open by the National Patron, followed by a solemn opening prayer, setting a spiritual and unifying tone for the event. Worthy of special commendation was the Catholic Church, Kaa, whose choir rendered soul-lifting hymns that elevated the atmosphere and drew commendation from all present. Their performance stood as a reminder of the vital role faith institutions continue to play in fostering peace, discipline, and moral guidance within society.
In his brief but impactful welcome address, Rear Admiral John Nicholas Bakpo (Rtd) warmly acknowledged the leadership and organizational strength of the Grassroots Mobilizers GM, while specially praising the Catholic Church choir for their inspiring ministration. He openly and unequivocally declared his total and unwavering support for the administration of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, affirming confidence in the Governor’s leadership and vision for Rivers State.

The National Patron further applauded the expanding influence and effectiveness of the Grassroots Mobilizers across the 23 Local Government Areas, describing the movement as a disciplined, people-oriented structure committed to peace, development, and good governance. He reiterated his steadfast commitment to the GM family and the Fubara-led government, urging leaders and members to remain loyal, united, and faithful to constituted authority at all times.

In a moment that blended politics with popular culture, the Rear Admiral led the gathering in singing “No Corner Corner”—a signature anthem associated with Governor Fubara and creatively remixed by the GM National Media Board. The rendition served both as entertainment and as a symbolic reaffirmation of loyalty. He emphasized that GM leaders and members must continue to uphold discipline, loyalty, and absolute respect for the Governor’s directives.
In honour of the group, the National Patron invited Distinguished Comrade Nubor Optimist Goteh to lead the gathering in the Alleluia chorus, which was gracefully handed over to Comrade Ene Christian Wakama, creating a powerful moment of unity, praise, and shared purpose.

The celebration also doubled as a birthday thanksgiving for the National Patron. In a symbolic and memorable highlight, the retired Navy two-star General and Coordinator of the Ogoni Senior Retired Military Officers and Paramilitary Association marked the occasion by cutting his birthday cake with a long ceremonial Navy knife—a powerful representation of discipline, service, sacrifice, and decades of devoted service to the nation. The moment drew cheers, admiration, and applause from the audience.

Speaking on behalf of the Grassroots Mobilizers GM National Working Committee, Hon. Norisia Wilfred Pepple, Convener of GM—ably represented by Distinguished Comrade Nubor Optimist Goteh—expressed profound gratitude to Rear Admiral John Nicholas Bakpo (Rtd) for his firm stance, consistency, and unalloyed support for the group and the Fubara administration. The NWC used the occasion to publicly reaffirm their loyalty and total support for His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, stressing that their commitment remains unshaken.

Clarifying misconceptions, the NWC emphasized that Grassroots Mobilizers GM is self-sponsored by its national leaders and members, and not funded or controlled by any political leader. Despite this independence, the group reaffirmed its unbreakable loyalty to Governor Fubara and his administration, “no matter the circumstances,” anchored on shared values of peace, development, and people-centered governance.

In recognition of his exceptional leadership, fatherly support, and unwavering dedication, the GM National Working Committee presented an award of “Distinguished National Patron” to Rear Admiral John Nicholas Bakpo (Rtd)—a gesture met with resounding applause and admiration from the gathering.

The event attracted dignitaries from various political, community, religious, and civil society backgrounds, further underscoring the wide respect enjoyed by the National Patron and the growing relevance of the Grassroots Mobilizers.

Entertainment reached a climax with a vibrant live band performance by renowned Ogoni popular gospel singer, Barisua Dinee, whose electrifying praise session crowned the celebration with joy, dance, and thanksgiving.

In his characteristic generosity, Rear Admiral John Nicholas Bakpo (Rtd), who traditionally sets aside December for Christmas charity outreach, chose instead to dedicate the season to hosting a Christmas fellowship with the organization he proudly serves as Patron, further demonstrating his deep bond, loyalty, and commitment to the Grassroots Mobilizers family.

Indeed, the Christmas / End of Year Party was more than a celebration; it was a strong statement of faith, loyalty, unity, and political clarity—a fitting close to the year and a renewed call to service in the year ahead.

GM NWC MARKS AND CELEBRATES HER NATIONAL PATRON, REAR ADMIRAL JOHN NICHOLAS BAKPO (RTD.), IN GRAND STYLE

The National Working Committee of the Grassroot Mobilizers (GM NWC) has celebrated her esteemed National Patron, Rear Admiral John Nicholas Bakpo (Rtd.), in a colourful and dignified event held at his Port Harcourt residence.

The high-powered delegation was led by the National Convener, Hon. Norisia Wilfred Pepple, ably represented by the National Secretary, Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, alongside national officers, state coordinators, patrons, non-indigene leaders, and other distinguished members of the GM family.

Rear Admiral Bakpo, a retired Two-Star General of the Nigerian Navy, joined the GM family in June 2025 during the State of Emergency in Rivers State, where the GM leadership visited him for strategic consultations. He also serves as the Coordinator of the Ogoni Retired Senior Military and Paramilitary Officers Association, and is widely respected for his integrity, courage, and service to the nation.

The celebration commenced with an opening prayer and a special birthday song, followed by a unique presentation by the GM National Media Board, led by Mrs. Ene Wakama Christiana, honouring the life and contributions of the distinguished celebrant.

Speaking on behalf of the GM Coordinators Forum,
Hon. Iffiot Emmanuel, the National Non-Indigene Coordinator, praised the Admiral as “a humble and committed father whose personality will soon attract national headlines for all the right reasons.” He stated that Rivers State needs leaders like Rear Admiral Bakpo and prayed that “his name will continue to shine for good across Nigeria.”

Speaking for the Patron Forum,
a former Executive Chairman of Gokana LGA, Hon. Chief Archibald Nalelo, described the Admiral as “a fearless warrior, a man of unshakable integrity, and a senior citizen whose contributions cannot be overshadowed by threats or challenges.” He emphasized that “no amount of external pressure can dismantle the success of GM with Rear Admiral Bakpo as its National Patron,” describing him further as “a determined leader, a problem-solver, and a great inspiration to the GM family.”

Speaking on behalf of the Kaa community and GM Kaa Leadership,

He described the celebrant as “the Crown of Kaa,” noting that the community remains peaceful and hospitable because of his influence. He reaffirmed their solidarity and pride in celebrating “a son, a father, and a leader whose legacy will endure.”

In his congratulatory message,
Hon. Norisia Wilfred Pepple, represented by Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, thanked God for gifting the GM family such a noble leader. He expressed the love and appreciation of the entire GM body, noting that Rear Admiral Bakpo has consistently demonstrated unparalleled support and affection toward the GM movement and the people of Rivers State.

He recounted how during moments of deep tension in Rivers State, when conflict seemed inevitable, the Admiral repeatedly urged them to choose peace over confrontation. He quoted the Admiral’s famous advice:
“Go for peace. We need peace more than war.”
He aligned this with Gov. Siminalayi Fubara’s message that “Peace brings progress and development, not war.”

Addressing the gathering, Rear Admiral John Nicholas Bakpo (Rtd.) expressed heartfelt gratitude for the honour and love shown to him. He spoke extensively on humility, noting:
“Humility comes from the heart. I retired as a Two-Star General in the Nigerian Navy, yet your position should never make you feel like a superstar.”

He recounted how he became connected with GM:
“When I observed the GM movement and saw their ideology, I joined. GM stands for good governance, accountability, identity, integrity, and peaceful mobilization. They are strategic and committed—not noise makers.”

He reaffirmed his loyalty:
“I stand with GM today, tomorrow, and beyond because I believe in what they stand for. I am a General, and I stand by my words.”

He reiterated his support for Gov. Siminalayi Fubara, stating that the Governor represents peace, development, and a renewed hope for Rivers State.

In his vote of thanks,
Distinguished Comrade Nubor Optimist Goteh, Coordinator of GM Khana LGA and Director of the GM National Media Board, appreciated the Admiral for standing by the GM movement when it mattered most. He recalled how he personally led the first GM delegation to interface with the Admiral, expressing gratitude that “he never turned his back on us.”

He prayed for God’s continued protection and long life for the Admiral, wishing him blessings, strength, and greater fulfilment in the years ahead.

Grassroots Mobilizers GM NWC Commends Gov. Fubara’s Prioritization of Education in the 2026 Budget, Calls for Unity and Collective Support

Tue. , Dec. 2, 2025.

The Grassroots Mobilizers National Working Committee (GM NWC), through its National Media Board, has applauded the recent clarification by His Excellency, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, concerning the state of public schools in Rivers State and his administration’s plan to reposition the education sector.

Governor Fubara, in his response to remarks credited to Speaker Amaewule, emphasized that the deterioration witnessed in many public schools did not occur within a year. He noted that years of neglect contributed to the current state of affairs, stressing that the revitalization of the education sector remains a top priority of his government. In line with this commitment, the Governor disclosed that education will receive the largest allocation in the 2026 budget—signaling a bold and transformative direction for the sector.

The GM NWC describes the Governor’s response as a demonstration of sincerity, purposeful leadership, and good intention toward the people of Rivers State. The Group affirms that the Governor is fully aware of the conditions across the education system and has shown genuine determination to address them, alongside other critical sectors requiring urgent attention.

Led by its Convener, Hon. Norisia Wilfred Pepple, the Grassroots Mobilizers GM NWC calls on all Rivers residents to support Governor Fubara’s development vision and to remain patient as his administration undertakes long-term reforms aimed at restoring the State’s infrastructure, institutions, and economy. The Group urges citizens to pray for the success of the government and to contribute constructively by offering meaningful suggestions that can help shape a better future for the State.

Furthermore, the GM NWC warns against divisive statements, inciting comments, and destructive criticisms capable of undermining peace and development. At a time when Rivers State is experiencing relative stability, the Group stresses the importance of responsible engagement, unity, and mutual respect. The GM insists that no progress can be achieved in an atmosphere of disunity and tension.

Reaffirming its unwavering support, the Grassroots Mobilizers pledge continued solidarity with the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the collective aspirations of Rivers people. The Group believes that with dedicated leadership and the cooperation of citizens, the State will witness remarkable progress in education and other key sectors.

Politics › We Will Present The 2026 Budget Here — Gov. Fubara by Optimistic2021(op): 2:27am On Nov 25, 2025
WE WILL PRESENT THE 2026 BUDGET HERE — GOV. FUBARA

A Renewed Commitment to Peace, Progress, and Responsible Leadership

In a reassuring display of transparency and steady leadership, Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and deepening good governance. On Monday, during an inspection tour of the reconstructed Rivers State House of Assembly complex, Governor Fubara affirmed that the facility will be fully ready for legislative use before the end of the year — a timeline that ensures the 2026 Appropriation Bill will be presented in its rightful place: the permanent chambers of the Assembly.

The governor’s visit — accompanied by Hon. Boniface Omeregwa and hosted by Senator John Mbata, Chairman of Monier Construction Company Limited, the project contractors — was not merely ceremonial. It was an exercise in accountability, clarity, and leadership responsibility. In a political climate often clouded by speculation, Governor Fubara took it upon himself to physically assess the progress, dismissing claims that his administration had abandoned the complex. Instead, he provided verifiable evidence of ongoing work and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to institutional stability.

Of notable significance is the announcement that Julius Berger Nigeria PLC has been subcontracted to accelerate specific aspects of the reconstruction. This step underscores the governor’s preference for quality, speed, and efficiency — qualities Rivers people have come to associate with his governance style. While ancillary areas of the complex will be handled separately by the Speaker, Fubara assured that the primary legislative chambers — the beating heart of the state’s democracy — will be ready before December.

Beyond the technicalities of infrastructure and legislative procedure, Governor Fubara’s actions reflect something deeper:
his character as a man of peace, an obedient son of Rivers State, and a leader with the compassionate heart of a father.

He has consistently chosen maturity over confrontation, dialogue over division, and development over distraction. In moments when others sought tension, he offered calm. In periods of misunderstanding, he extended understanding. His every action continues to signal an unshakable belief that the progress of Rivers State must never be compromised by political noise.

In response to the governor’s assurance and leadership posture, the Grassroots Mobilizers (GM) have expressed profound commendation for Governor Fubara’s dedication to the wellbeing of Rivers people. The group acknowledges him as a leader whose decisions, conduct, and priorities consistently reflect a deep desire for peace, unity, and progress.

GM describes him as:

A man of peace — always choosing stability over strife.

An obedient son — respectful to elders, stakeholders, and the institutions that shape Rivers politics.

A father to the state — whose leadership carries compassion, patience, and a desire to protect every citizen.

The group emphasizes that the reconstruction of the Assembly complex is not just a physical project, but a symbol of the governor’s commitment to preserving the integrity of democratic governance in Rivers State.

The GM National Working Committee (NWC) further calls on all sons and daughters of Rivers State to remember that peace is the foundation of prosperity. Without peace, development becomes slow. Without unity, progress becomes fragmented. Without tolerance, the future becomes uncertain.

The group appeals to traditional rulers, political leaders, youth organizations, women groups, and community stakeholders to embrace peace, dialogue, and collaboration in the collective interest of Rivers people.

Grassroots Mobilizers National Working Committee (GM NWC) Reaffirms , declares its total and unwavering support for the peace initiative being championed by:

His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, Governor of Rivers State
and His Excellency, Chief E. N. Wike, Honourable Minister of the FCT
— both of whom play critical roles in sustaining political stability and development within the state.

The NWC further directs all its members across the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State to continue preaching peace and to consistently conduct themselves as Icons of Peace, especially in their grassroots engagements and stakeholder interactions. As mobilizers, their responsibility is not only political but social: to unify, enlighten, and advance the harmony that the state urgently needs.

In the spirit of progress, unity, and shared purpose, Rivers State must continue on this path of peace — for where peace thrives, development follows.

The Power of Presence — Ogoni Amazon at RWUS FITNESS

Yesterday, Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the Ecumenical Christian Centre, the RWUS FITNESS event marked more than a celebration of health and community: it became a stage for leadership, solidarity, and political symbolism. Among the dignitaries and stakeholders present, two figures stood out for their grace, influence, and the deeper social message their attendance carried: Hon. Dr. Ethel Kabaari Aluzim, President General of the Ogoni Amazon, and Her Excellency, Lady Valerie Siminalayi Fubara, First Lady of Rivers State.

Hon. Dr. Ethel Kabaari Aluzim: More Than a Figurehead

Dr. Ethel Kabaari Aluzim, as the President General of the Ogoni Amazon, plays a vital role in Ogoni socio-political life. The title “Ogoni Amazon” suggests leadership among women of the Ogoni people, but it is not merely ceremonial. Her presence at RWUS FITNESS underscores her commitment to community well-being, women’s empowerment, and civic engagement.

In the broader political landscape of Ogoni and Rivers State, her role is significant. The Ogoni people — comprising several local government areas in Rivers State — have long advocated for equal representation, environmental justice, and political inclusion.

The Ogoni, historically marginalized in terms of high-level political offices in Rivers State, have not produced a governor, deputy governor, or speaker, despite their size and strategic importance. It is within this context that leadership figures like Dr. Aluzim become especially meaningful: she represents not only women, but the aspirations of the Ogoni community for greater visibility, agency, and influence.

Moreover, the Ogoni struggle is steeped in environmental and social justice. The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has championed nonviolent activism, indigenous rights, and environmental remediation. In diffusing those historic struggles into civic leadership, Dr. Aluzim embodies a bridge — between grassroots activism, traditional Ogoni voices, and modern political platforms.

By attending RWUS FITNESS, she sends a powerful message: that wellness, community building, and political engagement go hand in hand. Her participation helps to normalize the role of women in leadership, extending beyond formal offices to social influence, advocacy, and community health.

Her Excellency Lady Valerie Siminalayi Fubara: A Symbol of Unity and Support

Also in attendance was Her Excellency, Lady Valerie Siminalayi Fubara, whose involvement lent the event not just prestige but political significance. As First Lady of Rivers State, her presence bridges state‐level governance and grassroots activism. It signals the government’s support for initiatives like RWUS FITNESS, which promote wellness, social cohesion, and civic engagement.

Lady Fubara’s participation alongside Dr. Aluzim suggests a shared vision: that improving public health is also a form of social investment. Moreover, it underscores the importance of collaboration between government institutions and civil society, especially when women leaders come together to champion change.

RWUS FITNESS: More Than Just a Health Event

While “fitness” might suggest a purely physical endeavor, the event at Ecumenical Christian Centre was evidently more layered. With stakeholders and government officials present, it became a forum for building relationships, showcasing solidarity, and amplifying voices that matter in the socio-political fabric of Rivers State.

Fitness events like this serve as neutral ground — where gender, ethnicity, and politics converge around shared goals: community wellness, empowerment, and social capital. When leaders such as Dr. Aluzim and Lady Fubara join, they reinforce the idea that health is not only personal, but collective, and political.

The Political Significance of the Ogoni Amazon

To understand the deeper meaning of Dr. Aluzim’s role, one must appreciate the Ogoni’s place in Rivers State’s political landscape. The Ogoni nation is made up of several local government areas — Khana, Gokana, Tai, Eleme, among others — yet, despite their numbers and economic significance (not least because of oil), they have often felt politically sidelined. The call for political representation has been loud: groups like KAGOTE (an Ogoni socio-cultural body) have long campaigned for Ogoni inclusion in the highest offices of Rivers State.

In this light, the Ogoni Amazon institution is more than a cultural body — it is a socio-political one. Women leaders in that institution can mobilize, influence, and shape discourse in Ogoni society and beyond. Dr. Aluzim’s leadership is therefore not only about gender representation, but about amplifying Ogoni aspirations in state politics: environmental justice, equitable development, and political inclusion.

The participation of Hon. Dr. Ethel Kabaari Aluzim and Her Excellency Lady Valerie Siminalayi Fubara at the RWUS FITNESS event carries symbolism and substance. It is a reminder that leadership does not always mean occupying formal political office; it can mean being present, advocating, connecting, and inspiring.

For the Ogoni people, Dr. Aluzim’s role as President General of the Ogoni Amazon is part of a broader narrative of resilience, advocacy, and hope. For Rivers State, the collaboration between civil society leaders and state dignitaries like Lady Fubara highlights how wellness, unity, and political engagement can merge to build stronger, more inclusive communities.

RIVERS ENEMIES PAINTING STATE LIKE DEVIL WITH INVISIBLE HORNS- Gov. Fubara

In the theatre of politics, perception is often wielded as a weapon more potent than truth. Rivers State has, in recent months, become the battleground of competing narratives—some rooted in fact, many engineered in mischief. It is against this backdrop that Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara delivered a blunt, unambiguous message: the enemies of Rivers State have tried to paint the state like a devil with invisible horns.

For six months, the state endured what the Governor aptly described as a period of “governance disruption.” A well–coordinated machinery of misinformation sprang to life, taking advantage of the political tension to portray Rivers as a land in flames, a place where governance had crumbled and insecurity reigned. These detractors saw opportunity in crisis, amplifying fear, sowing division, and exploiting uncertainty for selfish political gain.

But truth, no matter how delayed, always resurfaces.

Governor Fubara, speaking with clarity and calm, reaffirmed that normalcy has fully returned. Governance is back on course. Institutions are functioning. Peace has been restored—not as a slogan, but as a lived reality for the ordinary people and businesses across the state. The so-called “horns” painted on Rivers State were never real; they were figments of the imagination of those threatened by progress and stability.

What the anti-Rivers forces tried to achieve was simple: destabilize the state, weaken public confidence, and create a climate of fear that could be politically harvested. But their script failed. Instead, Rivers people saw through the charade. They witnessed a governor who refused to be distracted, who chose maturity over aggression, and who kept his eyes firmly on development rather than drama.

Today, Rivers State stands not as a place of disorder, but as a testament to resilience. The administration is pushing forward with its reforms—strengthening institutions, opening new avenues for economic growth, expanding opportunities for youth, and reinforcing security structures. Investors are returning, and communities are experiencing renewed confidence.

The enemies of Rivers did their best to cast a shadow over the state. They tried to create the image of a roaring darkness where only the light of progress existed. But the Rivers story remains stronger than their propaganda.

Governor Fubara has made it clear: Rivers State cannot and will not be defined by those who profit from chaos. It will be defined by its people, its peace, its potential, and its promise.

The invisible horns have fallen off.
The truth has prevailed.
And Rivers State moves forward—undaunted, unbroken, unstoppable.

RIVERS STATE GOVERNOR REAFFIRMS PEACE AND SAFETY IN RIVERS STATE

In an era where political mischief often parades itself as news, it has become essential to separate fact from fiction—truth from choreographed narratives crafted to mislead the innocent and misinform the unsuspecting. This is precisely what Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara accomplished on Sunday, November 16th, at the grand finale of the Python Golf Club’s 6th Edition Chief Ikenna Okafor 2025 Pro-Amateur Golf Championship in Port Harcourt. With clarity, calm, and conviction, he reaffirmed that Rivers State remains peaceful, safe, and steadily moving forward.

For weeks, certain voices—loud, desperate, and politically motivated—have tried to paint Rivers State with the brush of crisis and insecurity. These narratives, amplified by those who thrive on confusion, are designed to create panic, sow doubt, and undermine a government committed to genuine development. But, as Governor Fubara emphasized, these stories are not merely exaggerated—they are engineered. They are fabricated attempts to distort reality and distract from the administration’s unwavering pursuit of progress.

We must remember that peace is not defined by propaganda but by lived experience. And the lived experience of Rivers people tells a different story—one of stability, calm, and growth. Markets are bustling. Businesses are flourishing. Social activities—like the very golf tournament the Governor attended—are thriving. These are not the indicators of a state in turmoil; they are the markers of a state focused, functional, and forging ahead.

The Governor’s reassurance is not rhetoric. It is grounded in action—quiet, consistent, and sincere governance. While detractors weaponize media platforms in their quest for relevance, this administration centers its efforts on security, infrastructure, and the social wellbeing of its people. That is the true Rivers story, and it must be told boldly.

Rivers people must remain vigilant—not against imagined dangers, but against calculated distortions aimed at destabilizing public confidence. We must collectively reject the toxic narratives that seek to undermine our peace. Let us stand firmly with the truth: Rivers State is safe, welcoming, and advancing because it is guided by a leader who values service over spectacle and results over noise.

The peace in Rivers State is real.
The progress is real.
And no volume of politically charged misinformation can overshadow the reality felt and lived by the people.

Rivers State will continue to rise—quietly, confidently, and securely—under the steady leadership of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

RSG STRENGTHENS PRIVATE-SECTOR PARTNERSHIPS

…Invites International Breweries’ Youth Empowerment Initiative to Port Harcourt

The Rivers State Government has continued to demonstrate, in practical terms, its renewed commitment to youth development, economic stimulation, and inclusive growth by forging deeper partnerships with the private sector. This week, the state made another strategic move—inviting International Breweries PLC to host its flagship “Empowering Nigeria’s Future Leaders” programme in Port Harcourt.

This gesture is not merely ceremonial. It is a well-calculated step that aligns with Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s vision for a more prosperous, opportunity-driven Rivers State. As announced by the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Warisenibo Joe Johnson, the state is eager for Rivers youth to tap into the rich training, mentorship, and entrepreneurial support that this programme offers.

Benefits to Rivers People

Bringing this initiative to Rivers State holds clear, measurable benefits that will directly empower young people and stimulate the local economy:

1. Skills Development for the Youth

The programme is structured to equip participants with digital skills, leadership capacity, business orientation, and employability training. Hosting it in Port Harcourt means thousands of Rivers youths will gain direct access—without the usual barriers of travel, accommodation costs, or limited enrollment slots upcountry.

2. Entrepreneurial Growth and Startup Support

International Breweries’ empowerment scheme is known for helping young entrepreneurs refine their ideas, build sustainable business models, and access mentorship. This directly supports the state’s push for SME growth—one of the fastest ways to reduce unemployment and expand the revenue base.

3. Job Creation Opportunities

Every investment, partnership, or programme that enters the state opens up new job pathways. Beyond the training itself, increased collaboration with private-sector giants often leads to expanded business operations, product distribution networks, and support services—all of which create employment for Rivers people.

4. Cultural and Economic Revitalisation

Commissioner Johnson’s appeal to revive the iconic Grand Lager Beer reflects a cultural and economic interest. For many Rivers people, Grand Lager is heritage—a brand tied to memories, identity, and local pride. Its revival could stimulate local production, bring back jobs, and reconnect the state with its industrial history rooted in Pabod Breweries.

5. Boosting Seasonal Economic Relief Through Discount Markets

The invitation to International Breweries to participate in the Rivers State Christmas Discount Market, scheduled for December 5–15 at Yakubu Gowon Stadium, demonstrates the government’s focus on supporting residents during the festive season. More corporate participation means more discounted goods, wider product variety, and real relief for families facing high cost-of-living pressures.

A Partnership That Works for the People

The courtesy visit led by International Breweries’ Public Affairs Manager, Dr. Helen Chimezie, underscores growing confidence in the Rivers business environment. The company’s 10th anniversary edition of its empowerment programme, set for November 17, 2025, will not only celebrate a decade of national impact but also potentially mark a new chapter in Rivers State’s development story—if hosted here.

This is the kind of partnership Rivers State needs: initiatives that uplift young people, strengthen local businesses, honour cultural heritage, and contribute to a more vibrant, resilient economy.

Under Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s leadership, Rivers State is clearly positioning itself as a hub for investment, innovation, and inclusive prosperity. And with private-sector alliances like this, the state is well on its way to building a future where Rivers youth are empowered, industries are revived, and opportunities flourish across every community.
