ivandragon: To be fair, what the OP posted is the fact... as much as I detest tribal diatribes...
I have always said that those who choose not to support BAT are not necessarily against a Yoruba candidate, they just feel BAT is not the right person for the job given the country's recent experiences...
Most BAT supporters are quick to insult Igbos even when some of those against BAT are Yorubas & Northerners... You lie, majority of people abusing Tinubu on daily bases are inyamiris, go to twetter and facebook and see them, any news about Tinubu, they will filled the comment section and start insulting Tinubu as if he stop their candidate from contesting, majority of people abusing Tinubu are baby factory products |

Crime › Many Killed In Enugu As Herdsmen Attack Enugu by Optma88(op): 9:43am On Mar 27, 2022 |
At least six persons were feared dead following an attack by suspected herdsmen at a farm settlement in Mgbuji and Ebo, Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State. Sunday Vanguard gathered that the attack lasted about eight hours beginning from 10 am. According to security personnel who pleaded anonymity, the casualty figure is likely to increase, because some of the farmers who sustained bullet wounds ran into the bush and were yet to be rescued. Another source put the casualty figure at 12, adding that residents were still searching for their missing loved ones. The source said the attack had thrown the community into mourning, adding that residents had deserted the community for fear of another attack. It was learnt that trouble started in the area when some youths, chasing away herders who were rearing cows in their farms, killed some cows in the process. The attack was, therefore, believed to be a reprisal by the herdsmen. Although the spokesperson, Enugu State Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe, did not respond to inquiries on the incident as of press time, a community leader in Mgbuji, Eric Ebeh, confirmed the attack to Sunday Vanguard, noting that the exact casualty figure were yet to be ascertained as bushes were still being combed in search of the missing ones. Sunday Vanguard recalls that at least three residents of the community also lost their lives to similar attack in January this year. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/03/many-killed-in-enugu-herdsmen-attack-enugu/

Politics › Igbo Votes Save Bola Tinubu During The 2003 General Elections by Optma88(op): 8:07pm On Mar 26, 2022 |
Professor ABC Nwosu has continued his campaign for Igbo presidency ahead of the 2023 general elections The elder statesman has been very vocal on the need for other parts of the country to support Igbo presidency in the next elections A former minister of health, Professor ABC Nwosu has revealed how votes from southeasterners saved Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's political career in 2003. Tinubu, 69, presided over the affairs of Lagos state from 1999 to 2007 under the defunct Alliance for Democracy. Prof ABC Nwosu has been very vocal about the need for political parties to zone their presidential tickets to the southeast. In 2003, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won all the governorship elections in the southwest states except Lagos, while Tinubu was governor. Professor Nwosu, a member of the PDP board of trustees, says Tinubu's electorial victory at that time was made by Igbo living in Lagos. Speaking to Legit.ng in an exclusive chat in his Abuja residence, the elder statesman queried why Tinubu is contesting for the presidency, saying the former Lagos state governor ought to be canvassing for a president from the southeast in 2023. Making reference to past political sacrifices made by southeast politicians, Pof Nwosu said: “Obasanjo was imprisoned by evil forces. He wasn't there when we formed PDP. The chief architect of and founder of PDP is Dr. Alex Ekwueme. One of the most important factors of founding PDP was power shift. Presidency shall rotate between the north and the south. “That was what was in the draft constitution that would have been promulgated by Abacha. Most of the people arguing now or their fathers were present at that conference. “In 1993, Dr. Sylvester Ugo, the governor of the Central Bank of Biafra, lost in his ward to Abiola. His ward is Mbaise. He is as Igbo as he can be. His place is even where we had the Ahiara Declaration during the Biafran war. “And, yet, his people, left their son, a Ph.D. holder from Harvard, and voted for Abiola. Is that a people you can say are parochial? “PDP changed all its rules to make sure that power went to the southwest in 1999 because of the monumental injustice which we are glad has now been redressed. “Why is it that when it comes to the southeast, you see them jumping into the ring? What is Tinubu jumping into the ring for? If he was such an apostle of June 12. Can't he show some consideration? When his seat was threatened, the Igbos in Lagos helped sustained him. “He was the only governor that survived. I know. He knows I know. Because I drove with him in the front seat of his car to solicit Igbo support. The Igbos supported him. Why can't he show some consideration? “Every person knows that the support that put Jonathan on the seat and kept him on the seat was the Igbo support. The 95% to 5% that is used to punish Ndi Igbo now is because the Igbos gave 95% votes to Jonathan and 5% to President Buhari. And the Igbos have no regret about it because they felt it was the right thing to do. “But when it comes to the turn of Ndi Igbo, it was even touted that Jonathan might run. It is simple arithmetic. It is right before God, so it should be right before man.” Prof Nwosu also dismissed suggestions that Igbo politicians from the south-south region can fill in for the southeast in the 2023 polls. According to him, south-south politicians of Igbo ethnic origin should wait for when the presidency is zoned to their region. https://www.legit.ng/politics/1462494-prof-abc-nwosu-reveals-how-igbo-votes-saved-bola-tinubu-during-2003-general-elections/

Nigeria’s Toyin Tofade, last Wednesday, became the first black female president of the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) founded in 1881.
According to a press release by the college, Ms Tofade was selected to become the 10th president of the college, following a comprehensive search.
“Dr Tofade is the first Black woman to serve as president of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in the college’s 141-year history. She begins her term on July 1, 2022,” the release said.
Christopher Di Lascia who chaired the presidential search committee said, “Dr Tofade possesses all the qualities desired, including her deep commitment to academic quality, scholarship, and service, as well as a proven track record of successful management and resource development…”
Since 2016, the release noted that Ms Tofade had served as the Dean and Professor at the Howard University College of Pharmacy in Washington, D.C. during which the college has nearly doubled enrollment for the class of 2021; doubled the number of student internships; expanded clinical, industrial and international partnerships; and received the maximum number of Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) re-accreditation years possible.
Under her leadership, the college diversified its faculty composition and expertise; revised the curriculum which has led to improved educational outcomes; entered into a one-of-a-kind partnership with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Glaxo to provide fellowship opportunities in regulatory affairs and policy.
In accepting her new role, Ms Tofade reportedly said, “It is an honour to be selected for this distinguished role by the Board of Trustees at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.”
“My sincere thanks go to Howard University’s provost and president for their leadership, ongoing support, and mentorship over the years, the entire Howard University College of Pharmacy for their dedication to excellence and leadership, my distinguished colleagues for making Howard a great place to work, and my family for their unwavering support. I am grateful to God for this new opportunity, and I look forward to serving the ACPHS community as president.”
During Ms Tofade’s time at Howard University, residencies with Walgreens and Trusted Health Plans were established; multiple partnerships with the pharmaceutical industry yielding postdoctoral fellowship opportunities for Howard graduates have been created under her leadership.
Alumni giving increased by over 70 percent and the student residency match rate increased from 36 per cent to over 50 percent.
Anthony Wutoh, Provost and Chief Academic Officer of Howard University said, “Dean Tofade has been an integral part of the Howard University community for the past six years, and has represented the College of Pharmacy well as a respected leader.”
He noted that although her departure is “certainly a loss” to the University, he is thrilled for her that she will expand her leadership responsibilities in her new role as president.
Toyin Tofade Ms Tofade received a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, a master’s degree in pharmacy practice and a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree both from UNC Chapel Hill in 1994 and 1997, respectively.
She completed a residency with emphasis on clinical pharmacokinetics in 1994 from UNC Chapel Hill, and an American Society of Health-System Pharmacy-accredited residency in 1995 at UNC hospitals.
In 2008, she was named Wake AHEC Mentor of the Year and was recognised by the internal medicine teaching service for her continued excellence and dedication to the internal medicine resident and student lecture. In 2016, she received an award for Excellence and Distinction in medicine and health from the Christian Association for Nigerian Americans.
A leader in global professional pharmacy organisations, Ms Tofade was appointed in 2020 as president-elect of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) academic pharmacy section.
FIP is the global federation representing over five million pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists worldwide.
In 2018, Tofade was the first Black woman to be named an FIP Fellow, which recognises those who have exhibited strong leadership internationally, distinguished themselves in pharmaceutical sciences and/or practice of pharmacy, contributed to advancement of pharmaceutical sciences and/or practice of pharmacy, and who have served FIP.
On the national front, she was appointed as chair-elect of the council of deans for the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy in 2020 and has participated on a variety of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion task forces nationally.
She has received numerous awards, including the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) 2022 Board of Directors’ Donald E. Francke Medal which honours pharmacists who have made significant international contributions to advance pharmacy practice.
In 2021, her alma mater, University of North Carolina (UNC) Eshelman School of Pharmacy, honoured her with the Pharmacy Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award. https://thepodiummedia.com/nigerian-woman-becomes-first-black-female-president-of-u-s-college
