Good morning house.
Please I need suggestions on how to tackle refusal reasons for my uncle

He is in Canada as a visitor and we applied for a study permit for him but he got refused on two reasons;
Insufficient financial assets
Purpose of visit

Brief background
Married with four kids, wife works as a Nurse but they are not in good terms so can’t obtain any documents from her.

Course of study: Post Baccalaureate diploma in Accounting (2year program)
Tuition for the program: $29,000
Tuition deposit paid: $6500(the school said he could pay for one semester since he was in Canada, usually the deposit should be $10,000).
POF Canadian account :$13,000
POF Nigerian account: N6m
He lost his job in November last year so all funds were from savings and payout from his employer
He worked with the bank for over a decade
Educational background: BSc. Economics, MSc Public Administration.

We would like to reapply. Please how can we tackle these reasons

My application got refused today June 17th.
I applied on May 20th
The reasons were:
-Financial situation was insufficient
-purpose of visit

I had a Canadian bank statement of $13k
Nigerian statement: N5.5m
Pension statement: N25m
Paid tuition deposit of $6500
I am already in Canada as a visitor but applied as though I am outside of Canada.

I am trying to figure out how to address the issue and reapply

Please has anyone who applied around May 20th gotten any update? I haven’t gotten any update, no background check or eligibility started at all and my school resumes in September 2023. I didn’t do upfront medical and I am wondering if I should just do it and upload it via webform.
Please kindly advise.

Yes, having a visitor visa does not make her eligible to apply from inside Canada. To be eligible to apply from inside Canada, she must meet specific criteria; one such requirement is completing a course or program that is a prerequisite to securing a school admission to a DLI.

She can apply for a study permit (IMM 1294, if using gckey account) from Canada. Still, she must choose Nigeria as her country of residence if she does not meet the above-mentioned criteria and must travel to Nigeria when she receives PPR to submit her passport.

I agree with the poster above but I ll like to point out that she doesn’t need to travel to Nigeria to submit her passport. She can actually do flag poling at the border to get her study permit. The PPR visa is just to allow her travel to Canada but if she already in here, no need for that. Her passport will just be stamped and issued a study permit.

Probably a typo in the email address provided at the point of biometrics. You can track on the VFS site with the tracking no they provided. You can also use the UPS return courier waybill no to track and know estimated date of return to your address( NB You can only do this if the stamped passport has returned to VFS and UP has pick it up)

My visitor visa was approved and PR on January 11th. I submitted my passport to vfs in Lagos via UPS on January 16th and I haven’t gotten any email update on the transit of my passport. I sent an email to the vfs helpline and I got a response that it has been sent to the embassy and they attached my tracking number. That was on the 23rd. I think I am supposed to be getting routine emails about the progress of my passport in transit but I haven’t gotten an acknowledgment email that my passport was received at VFS until I sent an inquiry email to them. Ever since then, no response.
I have sent other emails and tried calling but yet no response from vfs and I am getting worried at this moment. I included all the documents required including the consent forms and paid for a 2-way courier.

I was wondering if anyone is experiencing something similar?
Please any suggestions of what I can do at this point?

I applied for regular visitor visa for my mum so no medical request. I don’t know if they request medicals for tourist visa

It took exactly a week to get the passport back. I got update from cic on counterfoil then I tracked my passport and it stated ready for collection at vfs. You can call vfs to find out what is happening.?

Yes, I was able to track it today and it showed "still being processed ". How long did your own take? I am yet to receive counterfoil message either. Was it an email or from cic account? I Really need the passport back asap for an urgent trip.

Have you tracked it with the new tracking number you were given when you submitted your passport? They wouldn’t send you a message that it is ready like in my case. I only got a counterfoil message from cic stating the validity of the visa.

Do you mean the vaccine card? No you don’t. But there is a yellow card you fill before you board your flight. The card is just your declaration of whether you are carrying cash more than $10,000. That’s it.

If your reasons for wanting to visit Canada is genuine and you have good home ties then travel history will not be an issue.

I saw on the student thread that the embassy does final verification after a passport request. I saw one or two people that were refused after an original passport request because they used fraudulent bank statement.

It comes like an update in your cic account.

I have not gotten any message. I'm just in limbo. Outside the paper I will use to collect my passport they gave me at the counter, I have not received any email.

Same thing here too. Things have changed from the way it used to be. Before now, when you submit your passport, you fill a form with your email and phone number and when the passport is ready(3-5days later) you get a message informing you. But it’s all changed now. Have you gotten the counter foil message on the validity of your passport ?

You should send a message to London immigration and copy Lagos immigration, explaining in details her timeline when she did the biometrics and attach the email she got from vfs after the biometrics was done and wait for their response. Meanwhile, if you can, you both should go to the vfs office in Lagos to lay a complaint.

Please I need help and insights from you all here.

I submitted an online TRV application for my Mum on June 11, got letter for Biometrics on June 12 and she did her biometrics at VFS Lagos office on June 13. Her application was never updated. Biometrics never changed to received. This morning I got an update to her account and logged in to see that her application was refused because she didnot comply with teh rerequest for Biometrics. Her visa office is London.

This is a bit weired becaue she did Biometrics and got an email on June 13 VFS titled "Application accepted". Was there suppose to be another email from VFS?

Please whats the best course of action at this point? Raise a Case specific enquiry post-final decision? Write an appeal letter?
I feel my mum's application was not fairly determined, the officer either didnt check thru properly or VFS didnt submit her biometrics, which was paid for, anyways.

Pls your kind and quick responses would be appreciated.

Yes. But the 10-year biometric validity will be applied retrospectively to applicants to the Temporary Resident Biometric Program (TRBP) who provided their biometric information during or after May 2013.

It was a very simple application, no too much documents. In all, it was God!
