I think you should keep on checking between now and in the evening. You will see a closer date. But if you do not you just need to book the one you see first. Because if you do not book after 7 days since they accepted your emergency request. You will no longer qualify for the emergency again.

It happened to a lot of us. In my case I was cropping the picture from my lappy... Kept cropping until it met their requirement... I think there is a way your head needs to appear. And the inches of the picture...

God knows all things, however the possible explanation I can give is to say it could be because the regular appointment (October I was given at first fall behind the start date of my program (August).

I got the date on Monday after the approval of my emergency request.

To be eligible for emergency request
1. You need to have a normal regular appointment... In my case, my appointment was for October 8 and my program is meant to start in August.
2. You then file in for an emergency request. You will need your i-20 and sevisfee receipt, and the reason for the request
3. If approved your will then be asked to reschedule your appointment.

You should not do that.

You should not pay school fees, pay for accommodation or book a flight before having a visa. Your visa is your approval to proceed without which you shouldn't commit.

There are many respected Nairalanders here that will help you review your specific situation. If you are not able to post full details, contact one of them privately and they will give you personalized guidance on interviews, steps to take etc.

You cannot force the hand of a VO by committing funds, in fact, I dare to say that will have a negative impact on your interview.

I think this is really going to help me a lot, I would proceed going for my interview without paying the tuition at first. I think this is really helpful. We will succeed at last, I am still looking for date in Abuja. But it seems it only for October that is available. Please if anyone sees closer date in Abuja, let’s please share in this group so that one can book.

From what I seen ...paying school fees doesn't do anything for chances so what the point and if denied the hassle to get the money back is always so stressful

I would not advice this. .... instead focus on how you can sell yourself well to convince the VO and hope for the best

Now I am using a new school and I have already transferred my sevis , I was offered $5000 of scholarship and I am having a deficit of $20,000. I’m going for undergraduate, now my sponsor want to pay the $20,000 deficit to the school to make sure I am not having any financial problem at all. I don’t know if this is allowed, because we wanted to just pay up the money all at once to make sure that is been cleared. Can I be able to pay my school fees before going to the school?

Since your sponsor amount is way more than the COA you should be fine. Ensure your SOA reads this total amount in your interview.

I already told them to change that amount on the i-20 , they already did. So each school has their own way of doing their things, but I just tried to explain to them and they corrected it within minutes and sent a new i-20 showing the same amount as the one on the COA.

At the bolded: The school cannot just work with the amount on SOA without having your consent.
The person that filled the form for you was the one that stated the whole amount on your Certification of finance form, so stop saying your school

But sorry why are you still concluding that I was the one who gave them the amount after confirming to you that the school didn't ask me to fill any certification of the amount that my sponsor is going to use for the studies. They converted the SOA I sent them to dollars and then they put that amount there. I was the one who did all the processing so I know what I am saying sir.

This is not a problem, provided the amount on the statement you will take to the US embassy will still be this high, or close to it.
However, you can contact the school and tell them to !

That's true because I know some VO would not even have the time to ask you questions about that, they will just conclude immediately that you are suppose to show that SOA that is indicated in your i-20, so I will be contacting the school to tell them, I know it is not a problem for them to resolve because the student have the right to tell the school whosoever will sponsor the studies and how much the sponsor is suppose to use. You're the one who made it to be so.
The normal fee is $22,300 and what you filled on your Certification of finance is what the school is using now.
Check very well.

You filled something like, "How much will your sponsor provide annually"? - that's what you're seeing there.

No school will automatically fill in what you have on your bank statement without your consent.

You shouldn't worry yourself as long as you have that 55k+ statement of account during your interview.
It shouldn't be anything less than that.

Sorry I was not the one who filled that, what actually happened is that the school calculated the balance in the SOA and then they put the amount there, assuming my SOA was $30,000 that's the same amount they will still put there. To avoid unnecessary explanations during the visa interview I just feel I am going to tell the school to change the amount to the one I am suppose to send for 1 year, I think that is going to help a lot.

To me I don't see it as a problem, school policies are varies.
Some schools take only the part of tuition and living expenses while other take everything in the SOA.
What the VO will look at is the tuition and living expenses then check ur SOA, to know maybe you can cater for yourself or not

Nobody knows if may be the SOA could change before then, so I will just have to contact them to change it for me.

Please can we all contribute to this please I think someone had something similar to this last two years on this thread , I received my i-20 for the fall semester yesterday and this was what I was seeing in the i-20, at the left hand side tuition fees and living expenses altogether is $22,300 , at the right hand side of the i-20 students funding for 9 months, personal funds $0 , funds coming from the school $0, Father $55,000 because father was used as the sponsor. This actually means that the school calculated the SOA of my father and then put $55,000 there, please aren't you seeing this as a problem and that this might confuse the VO, since the amount in both sides are different? Please anyone with similar experience or that have idea of what I am talking about can contribute. Oga @fairheart and Co please what is your take on this. Because of the new CBN policy on Nigeria (naira) there have been a little problem doing online transactions but I hope they will resolve this soon. But if you have a dollar GT card you can pay with it online but for the now you will just have to find an alternative.

If you have it with you it is better you go with it, if it is going to be asked it depends on the VO, it doesn’t mean they always demand for it but just make sure you have it and make sure your funding is stated on your I-20.

Where can I make the changes because I know that I have submitted the ds-160 form and there is no way for me to make changes except if I am filling another ds-160 form, the reason why I wanted to make some changes is because on my ds-160 the place they asked who is sponsoring the trip. I went to put my name there so I was thinking it was just only the flight ticket they met but on my I-20 it state that my family will provide the expenses that is my parents, so I will be using my dad’s bank statement. So I do not if that will cause any problem to me because I placed my name on the person sponsoring the trip. Please I want to know what I can do in this position. Thank you all.
